Preferred Solution: TVersity Media share Program

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,

I'm having this weird issue with TVersity... I know, before the rest of you starts bagging it and suggesting PS3 media server, I've tried that and well, gave me nothing but grieve... tried tversity and so far had been streaming seamlessly without any lag.

Ok, my problem is that I installed 7 home premium, installed tversity. Set it all up, set in rules for media server and tversity in windows firewall, detected ps3 and started streaming. Took a few go like rebooting my pc, turning on ps3 before I start tversity.

Now the deal is that I have to restart my pc everytime if I start my ps3 later. It will not auto detect the ps3. Sometimes, when it is detected initially, I went to spend a couple of hrs on gaming, return to it and my ps3 is not detecting tversity. Check my pc, shows ps3 is connected. Reboot pc, streaming is fine again...

I thought tversity will auto detect and I don't even need to start the program as it is installed in as services. Will need to verify if I can see it in windows services later.

Any ideas? Oh, how do I disable media sharing for wmp12? I used that initially and now got no idea how to switch it off.

Cheers

A:Win 7 PS3 & TVersity

Are you running your network in a dynamic or static IP setup? If static, get into your router's settings and open up that port that you specify in TVersity's settings.

I know what you said in your initial paragraph there, but I have used both and if you can figure out what the issue is in your situation, I would CERTAINLY pick PS3 Media Server over TVersity.

I had a little bit of a hard time getting the network aspect of the whole thing setup but once it was done, it was a vast improvement over using TVersity.

Good Luck!

Hiya guys,

I have been tearing my hair out (well, whats left) trying to resolve a piddly little streaming problem.

Here is my setup:

Win7 Home Premium (regged, legal, purchased)
Networked via Belkin 200MBps homeplug and using OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220) connected to:

Netgear WNR 2000 Wireless Router
Networked via Belkin 200MBps homeplug
Ports open on router: 41952 (tversity) and 28306 (bt)

Streaming to:

PS3 Slim, wired connection tried with both automatic settings, and now with OpenDNS settings manually input.

PS Store and internet browser work perfectly, and if I use the /flashlib command via safari, I can connect to the TVersity via my iPhone.

Problems:

The PS3 simply refuses to display the TVersity OR Windows Media Sharing media servers.

I am using default settings on Windows Firewall, with TVersity media server as an automatic rule, but i also manually made a rule opening the port.

When I restart the media server service, still nothing. If I use the internet option (http://xxx.xxx.x.x:41952/flashlib) it states a DNS error - 80710101.

I have looked at pretty much every guide I can find, and was hoping that someone could help me to resolve this problem?

Thank-you...
Duke.

Like in your other post you seem to be having problems with "TVersity" not with windows.

I wonder if there isnt an alternative that would work better.

I have a lot of music on my computer, and I share it to a SoundBridge device. This works well WHEN it works. I have two problems.
1 The Media player loses the library and has to rebuild it frequently.
2 After a few days or so, it prohibits me from sharing media. When I click on Media Sharing, it displays an error message about sharing being turned off. When I go to web help, it tells me to start the Media Sharing Service, but when I look, it has been started. It also tells me to check ownership of the media database, but that is OK as well. I can get it to start over by uninstalling the media player and then re-installing it, but this gets to be a drag very quickly.
Can anyone help? Thanks very much.

Any ideas? I'm sole admin on this computer, an avid ITunes user. My comp still had WMP9 on it when I got the XBox, I don't know much about the upgraded version.

So, here's the situation:

I'm currently trying to help a business set up their client-management program to work in two separate locations on two different high speed connections. On a LAN, the program essentially runs in two separate instances from the same executable. I'm not able to transfer the program itself, because the license does not carry over to the second computer; so basically, I have to run it from a shortcut to the primary PC.

My question is this: does anybody have an idea to run the program (as a shortcut or some type of server) from this location to the primary location, in a similar manner as the LAN computer using the shortcut?

I suggest they buy the proper multi-user version of the application. There are a multitude of issues trying to run a program installed on one machine over the network on another machine!

I've got all the options set up the same as my bro's pc, windows media player sharing service enabled, firewall set up the same. But my pc will just not share my media with his pc or ps3.

I am able to "see" his media library and the ps3 can too, but my bro's pc will detect my pc, but not be able to "see" my media library. The ps3 will just not be able to pick mine up at all and vice versa.

The image shows the connection from my pc, note my PC is the one called CA*****, my bro's is DA****. My bro's just wont show CA*****'s library in the playlist, but will successfully detect the ps3 as "unknown device"

My network folder doesnt display the media folder for my pc also, so this might be the cause of the problem.

I have tried uninstalling the firewall which makes no difference, everything else seems to be set up the same also.

I'm having problems media sharing my desktop which is connected directly to a router and my laptop which is connected to the same router via wifi, both run on xp and both have wmp 11.

i already have both sharing with my xbox 360, but the computers won't see each other. All file sharing options i could find except simple file share is turned on as well as firewall exceptions. I've have also read that one pc must be vista? If so why?

Anyway i'm wondering if there is a way to make a connection between the two through wmp?

Thanks for all your help in advance! (and sorry if this is in the wrong category)

I can't figure out what happened either. I was proceeding to play Call of Duty black Ops when I noticed under music and pictures that my USERNAME-PC icon was not there. I went to check and make sure the computer was on, and it was. I was like that is weird. I don't remember deleting my homegroup or anything like that. I rebooted the PC and PS3 and nothing helped. I went into network properties->change homegroup properties, to find out that the share media with devices is not available. It is shaded out and you cannot click on the box to enable it. But, the kicker is, it says that media streaming is turned on. This sucks and I hope Microsoft does something to fix this issue. Can anyone tell me the best prson to person file sharing program

i have been looking for days now and have had no luck whatsoever, Any help with this problem would be massively welcomed by myself and the freind i am trying to share the files with.

As said before the kind of program i am talking about is one where we could directly connect, or one where we could easily find each other, maybe just by typing in username ect.....

the easiest way to do what you want is to set up an FTP Server.

FTP is secure if you make sure that you assign accounts and not set it up as anonymous!

many different FTP Programs out there! F-Serv seems to be one of the most popular!

check out Downloads.com or TUCOWS.

I have 4 computers in my house. 3 of them are desktops (2 of which run Windows 7, the other, XP), and 1 is a laptop (it also runs Windows 7). On one of my Windows 7 desktops, I have an external hard drive connected to it which has a bunch of music and movies on it. I want to be able to access that content from the other computers in my house, but I don't want to have to unplug the hard drive and take it to each computer all the time. Is there any way I can do this? I know that Windows 7 has some sore of option that is somewhat similar to what I want, but it has always been so complicated to set up, and every time I did set it up, I was never able to get it to work. So can someone please show me how to set it up properly? I would prefer something that is already a feature on windows, so that I don't have to install software on each computer.

Thanks!

I assume you have a home network setup? If so, simply enable file sharing on the PC that has the drive connected.

If you are using iTunes and you have set up home sharing then hey presto you are done.

If you are using Windows Media Player/Center, if you go into 'Network' in Windows Explorer you should see your User account and PC name under Media Devices. Simply double click the appropriate icon and hey presto your done.

Hey, i recently got a router for my home network, so i could play on my 360 while using my computer to access the internet.
I realise this may sound confusing, so ill explain my network setup.

Internet--BTHomeHub-- BT Vision Freeview & BT Wireless Hub Phone-- Netgear router---My Dads Computer & A wired network to my bedroom--5-way router--Xbox 360
--My Computer

My Xbox 360 can get an IP address, but then reports it cant see my computer
I tried getting Windows Media Player 11 to media share, but it wont, i go tools, library, media sharing, and it cant see my 360. I tried to look on the microsoft website to find out how to rectify this, but it has no help whatsoever.
And im not forking out 50-60 for microsoft's own brand wireless adapter for the 360, its not worth it.

Anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks

A:WMP11 wont media share

Two questions: do you have .NET framework 2.0 on your PC? and can you connect to Xbox Live through your setup?

From the M$ website:
In the rare event that your PC and your Xbox 360 console are connected to a router and your PC is using a Windows ICS connection to a third device, media sharing may not function.

Media sharing depends on the Xbox 360 console's UPnP traffic. This traffic may be blocked by a PC in this configuration. If this occurs, either turn off ICS to unblock UPnP traffic or rearrange your network.

From your setup, sounds like this is the case.

Welcome to sevenforums, sound asleep.

You need to set your music folder up as shared so she can see it and access it.

The following is from Windows 7, but should be similar in Vista:

Right click on the folder, click "Share with", then "Specific people". That takes you to a box where you are already added in. Click on the down arrow in the box at the top and select "guest" or "Everyone" then click "Add" at the top and "Share" at the bottom. That will give you the link to the folder, and that should do it.

Now she should be able to see the folder and read (get) the files.

Basically I am looking for a high end form of Skype, but because there are only two computers needed with this, I don't need any "middle-men" and the bad latency.

I am trying to collaborate with another musician. We've seen websites where you can pay something like 10 dollars a month to have live jam sessions with each other online but it's more ideal for groups of 4 people. We both have high speed connections and I figured there's got to be a free 2-person oriented alternative we could use to directly connect to each other over the web while achieving high audio quality and low latency. Any ideas?

hey folks I was trying to get my Western Digital Live tv player to access my video files but I think windows wont allow it to view them.

I followed the instructions for the live tv player to get the files to be shared but they don't show up in the folder when browsing the files on the live tv player menu.

it's a known issue a lot of people are having on western digital's forum but no one is helping anyone. (techs)

if anyone knows any tricks to get windows to allow us to access the files any help would be great.

here is a link to the product instructions,
http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/librar...779-705062.pdf
chapter 6 page 35 is where it shows how to get folders and files to be shared but no one on any windows machine can get it to work.
from xp to 7 the folders show up blank(empty) in the browser. however if I turn on media streaming in windows 7 I can access all my files with my media player. even though the instructions says that setting is for connecting the player to other DLNA protocol devices. but that's the only way I can access my stuff on my computer. the instructions suggest we use the "network share" route instead. but no one can get it to work.

I was wondering if there is a setting in windows that needs to be adressed other than what western digital's instructions tell us to do.

I know it's asking a lot out of you guys/gals if you don't have one or care about it, but I just don't understand windows 7 sharing enough to get it to work.

After being able to stream media from PC to Xbox/PS3 for quite some time, it recently stopped working and my devices no longer see my PC. I looked into the issue and WMP 11 states that Media Sharing is currently disabled. Everytime I try to enable it nothing changes. I also noticed that I cannot turn on Network Discovery. When I try to turn it on I get an error stating "The dependency group or service failed to start." If I try to start the services manually, the start and then stop.

I'm thinking that this all has to do with the latest Trend Micro fiasco that told me I has a trojan virus in the system file wextract.exe. When I try to restore the file nothing happens.

So far I've tried to do the restore package posted on Trend Micro's website but the instructions are really confusing and I can't get it to work correctly or fix the issue. I've also tried the sfc /scannow and it didn't fix the issue.

I really do not want to have to back up everything on my PC and reinstall Vista Ultimate. Any help as to how to fix this issue would be appreciated!

Hey there, my Vista PC doesn't show the library of my XP Desktop. Here's my setup:

Desktop PC:
- Windows XP SP3
- WMP 11
- Running on Administrator account named Kamal in WORKGROUP, no password protection, there are no other accounts on the computer
- Wired to a router
- Contains all my music I want to share

Vista Laptop:
- Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
- WMP 11
- Running on Administrator account named Kamal in WORKGROUP, no password protection, there are no other accounts on the computer
- Wireless connection to router
- I'd like to listen to music on this one, no need to share media to Desktop

I've set up a fully working home network and am able to ping back & forth, net view also shows both computers. I've tried sharing a folder over the network and it works well.

When setting up media sharing on the XP Desktop, the Vista Laptop appears in the list and I allow it. However when enabling "Find media that others are sharing" on the Vista Laptop nothing happens after I click OK. Also when I try to share my media on the Vista Laptop, the XP Desktop isn't listed.

I've googled my way through tons of discussions and I couldn't find any solution. I've tried automating processes (UPnP, SSDP, etc.) - they were already enabled; I've tried enabling UPnP and Multicast on my router - it messes up the home network.

Any idea what the problem is?

Two weeks ago, however, it was brought to my attention that we now need a program that can provide remote login in addition to screen share. I can't find a lot of information about this, and most sources point back to TeamViewer. Are there any alternative programs to help me out?

RemotelyAnywhere is what we use here, and it works well.https://secure.remotelyanywhere.com/template.asp?page=home

I recently had to do a clean install of Windows 10 Home x64 (1511 Build 10586.318). Before the clean install I could share and view on my Panasonic TV all the photos / videos stored on my PC. Since the clean install, while all the media locations on my PC are listed in the Windows Media Player Libraries, including my OneDrive, only the OneDrive locations are visible on the TV (Windows appears to automatically add the OneDrive to the list, as if you remove it from the list of libraries it is added again automatically!). The TV is listed in the devices to which the media can be streamed on the Local network.

I also have a Western Digital NAS drive and can stream all media to the TV from this without any problem. Can anybody suggest why the media located in the default Windows Pictures / Video locations cannot be viewed on the TV, while the OneDrive locations are and how I can solve this issue?

I have a pc wired to the linksys router that is running WinXP Media edition. It also has a printer (HP Photosmart) that is connected to it by an ecb cable or something strange like that. But it has always worked and I have always been able to share it with my two dell laptops running XP home. UNTIL my hard drive crashed on the dell with the photosmart and I had to format and reinstall. I use to be able to print from the HP Photosmart printer from both HP laptops. I can't remember how I did it but I know it is not happening now.
I have gone as far as to share the entire c drive on both pcs. I have made sure file and print sharing is checked in the firewall list. This just seems crazy to me since it worked before.

Can anyone; help me with this? I would really appreciate it. Been working on it for days.

Ok I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out. I have all my music on and separate drive then my OS. my music is on drive R:\. when I open media player all my music and play lists are there and I can play them. I set up sharing on my R:\ drive music folder and have media player set up to share music with remote computers. when I open media player on a remote computer and access my main it sees my play lists and the sample music that came with the system. none of the stuff on my R:\ drive is visible. I can see the music if I connect to the computer through the network places and access it through the shared folder. but I like the play lists. why won't media player share?

A:Share Music on a different drive with Windows Media Player

I'm guessing here but I think it has to do with Microsoft observing the restrictions imposed by the DRM of music. I believe they are taking the approach that your use of the OS and network to circumvent the DRM is your responsibility but they are not going to provide software that has features specifically designed to violate DRM.

I noticed, for example, that the PVR function within the Windows Media Center will not allow a network drive to be used as a destination for recorded TV programs. I can only use a local drive as a destination. After recording to a local drive, there is no problem using Explorer to move a recording to a network drive but since the network drive cannot be designated as a location for the recorded program, it also cannot be used as a source location for Recorded TV playback. Ironically, I can designate a network drive as a source or destination for the Video Library (usually a location for user created videos) and any videos located there, including recorded TV programs, are visible and playable as part of the Video Library.

I haven't actually tried to access any of these network located items from a different PC on the network but I expect I would find the same restrictions.

After migrating to Windows 8.1 (fresh install), I decided to use the Microsoft Live account. I then shared my folders, as usual, so that my media players in my network are able to see them. The problem is that when I type in the credentials, they don't seem to understand the email address format of my Microsoft Live Account. Is that normal?

Can I do something in Credential Manager to fix this?

Please help. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I have been having trouble with being able to share media to my devices such as the Playstation 3. Before I had ESET Smart Security 5.2.9.1, I was sharing media devices with ease and the problem began as soon as I installed ESET. I figure that it has something to do with the firewall but I tried configuring it but seems to still not work or I am just doing something wrong. It obviously works if the firewall is off but I shouldn't need to have to turn off my firewall whenever I want to share media to my PS3. The applications that I have been wanting my PS3 to recognise are Windows Media Player and Tversity. I also want my computer to recognise my PS3 but I seem to have trouble doing that too. Any solutions to fix this problem?

HI ,
I am a 17 years old student , and while attending school meetings using microsoft teams , i found out a way to start sharing my screen even though i am denied to share my screen . The admin of my organisation has granted permission to only the organisers
of the meeting to start sharing their screen , and the students are denied to share their screen to prevent misuse. But I have discovered a way of sharing my screen even though I am prohibited from doing so . Is this vulnerability eligible for the bug bounty
program?

I have a computer that has a program that has been running for a long time and taking up more than its fair share of memory and CPU resources. Can somebody tell me how to fix it?

A:Program running for a long tome and taking up more than its share of memory

Can you advise us what program you're referring to?

We need to see some specs of your computer, so do the following:

Download and save the

TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe)

After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.

Information about your computer will appear.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

You do need to be admin on both (and yes they are different). You also should not be in Program Files as that is solely for legacy for 32 bit apps, shouldnt be anything there that you need to change.

A few years ago, I used to use a freeware program called CDRIdentifier to determine the actual manufacturer, type and details of CD-R media.

This program is now obsolete and long unsupported.

Is there a current program that will give me this information about CD-R and DVD-R blank media?

As always, thanks for any help!

Nero CD-DVD Speed (freeware) will do that for you with the disc info option. You can get it here: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

I have a unusual case where I need to setup two mapped network drives as two different users to the same share location. When I attempt to map the second drive after inputting the user name and password the system goes on its merry way for a few seconds
and then returns me back to the username/password input.
If I change the second mapped network drive to use the IP address the two shares work happily. If I manipulate the host file and point two paths to the same address then I can also work around this problem. However, I would simply like to know why I am blocked
from setting two mapped drives to point to the same share with different credentials?
e.g.
TestFolder on TestServer is shared to TestUser1 & TestUser2 where the IP of TestServer is 192.168.0.2.
Case1
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will not work.
Case2
Mapping S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\192.168.0.2\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will work and I can access the folder as the two different users.
Case 3
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1 it will also work (but I am accessing S: & T: as the same user).
Why do cases 2 + 3 work, but case 1 does not?

Is there a program out there that I can use that will let me easily edit my musics information rather than going into Windows Explorer and right clicking each file? I feel like Itunes is able to do this, but my friends have had problems of Itunes erasing their entire library, or at least the changes made to all the songs.

I have all my music in folders by artist name, and then the music files inside. The Folder names are fine, but I know that the actual files themselves may not reflect what they are inside of.
Thanks in advanced!

Greetings,
I have an odd issue.. a user reports that they are unable to access a network shared folder from their PC. Here is what I have gathered so far:
-The network share is from their PC located at C:\SQL2014. The share name is SQL2014. Their hostname for this example is "ABC".
-If I attempt to connect to the share from the user's PC ABC to \\ABC\SQL2014 I get the generic error:
  "Windows cannot access \\ABC\SQL2014
You do not have permission to access \\ABC\SQL2014. Contact your network administrator to request access."
-If I attempt to connect to the share by ABC's IP \\192.168.1.140\SQL2014 I can access it.
-If I attempt to connect to the share by ABC's FQDN at  \\ABC.domain.com\SQL2014 I can access it.
-If I map ABC\SQL2014 as a drive letter, I can access it.
-Connecting to this share works fine from any other PC other than ABC.
-I've confirmed the error is affecting any profile old or new on ABC, which means it is a PC-wide issue on ABC.
-If I share C:\SQL2014 as ANY OTHER NAME OTHER THAN SQL2014, I can access it. As in if I share C:\SQL2014 with the share name SQL2014a, I can access \\ABC\SQL2014a.
-Deleted the share and recreated - same issue.
-Created C:\Test and shared it as SQL2014, cannot access \\ABC\SQL2014. It is NOT an issue with the actual SQL2014 folder.

From internet searches I've found the following solutions do not affect my case:
-Clearing CSC/Offline cache (most common working solution)
-C... Read more
