Windows MP 10 Streaming Video Issues

Q: Windows MP 10 Streaming Video Issues

Howdy and Hey, I recently upgraded to WMP 10 , since doing so I have lost the ability to watch videos on the web. I can watch the ads before the video but when it starts the video just goes " buffering 00/100% " never plays buffers for about 2 minutes, with no increase in percentage, then flips to "playing 0:00/ 4:28" , but never plays anything. Black screen and no audio. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. I have tried numerous times with firewall turned off anti-virus shut down and everstuff, no dice!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Go into tools then options and then click on the performance tab. Then select Buffer 5 seconds of content and see if that helps.

I have for the last four days been experiencing some extremely slow video streaming problems with all website involving flash (netflix, youtube, hulu, etc.). The video will play for about 2 minutes and then stop, then play again for 2 minutes, then stop. Buffering is extremely slow, even with my network operating at the same speed. This problem started happening when adobe flash updated to version 10.3.181.26.

I went through a series of steps I will describe below.

Here is a description of my system:
ASUS UL50AT Notebook
Windows 7 64 bit
Mobile Intel (R) Series 4 Express Chipset - with latest driver 8.15.10.2302 (2/11/11) - 1 GB
Adobe Flash version 10.3.181.34 (updated)
2.52 Mbps download, 1.52 Mbps upload speed (AT&T DSL)
Firefox 5.0 and IE 9.0.8112.1611
2GB RAM (only about 10% used during heavy internet use)

I started out by cleaning my cache and registry. I did so on firefox cleaning out everything, then went on my Registry Mechanic and did the same thing. Didn't fix it.

I then updated my graphics card driver to the latest version (as in above). It is surprising to me that their latest driver is from 2/11/11, but that was the latest they had.

I tried using IE instead of firefox with netflix, hulu, and youtube. Got the same issue.

I tried streaming video without my wireless card, going directly through my router via ethernet cable. Video streaming issues persisted. Also did a speed test and got same results as with wi... Read more

Hi guys,

This is my first post on this forum and it looks like a ocean of knowledge, which is what I've been looking for.

I've have an issue with a friends PC that I said I would look into for him.

Basically he can open video files mpeg, avi, mov etc... when loading them from his hdd but as soon as he goes online to say bbci player, youtube, myspace etc he cannot view the video and his PC locks up and you have to pull the power to restart as task manager won't open to close the browser.

He's tried explorer and mozilla but the problem appears on both browsers.

Strange thing is if the stream is set to open with mediaplayer it runs fine, so it's leading me to believe that it's a codec issue.

I've set default player as mediaplayer but still BBCi player won't I've sorted him out with the lastest Divx and drivers/firmware versions for all hardware.

I know youtube uses a flash player so is there a specific codec for media player to run flash streams?

All comments welcome as I'm starting to rn out of ideas.

Thanks for reading.

Firstly run IE Reset (I know it's both, but please follow the steps)
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES)

Then CCleaner

Then to go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/flash/trigger/en/3/index.html and install the latest Flash Player

Then update your Java

Then run the defaults on your personal Firewall (or uninstall, for the moment)
Also confirm you don't have another background pogram running like Spybots S&D

Then (after a restart or two) try the video pages again

Still faulty?

Hello everyone. Thanks for taking time to read this, I really appreciate it.

So, here's how it goes. All of a sudden, I've been having strange video streaming issues with my laptop. I've had it for about eight months now, and everything has always worked just fine. Now, when going to places like Youtube, Hulu, Comedy Central, Megavideo etc, the buffering is just not happening well at all. I could watch 90 minute videos in 720p on Youtube and would never have an issue. I've tested the video in IE (ugh) and it all seems to be working fine. But I can't go back to IE. I just can't stand it. I've gotten spoiled with AdBlock and I can never go back. (Tested with AdBlock uninstalled as well, with no luck.)

So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and Firefox. Reset my computer, and router. Cleared cache, temp files, history. I am fully optimized with zero viruses or spyware of any kind. Always defrag-ed and all that maintenance jazz.

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the place to post this issue but here goes:

When i try to watch videos (streaming from websites) the video and sound are in sync with each other. However after about 15 minutes in, they start to get out of sync and it gets progressively worse as time goes on. (The sound comes through about 2-3 seconds before the video). Is there anything i can do about this problem? i'm fairly sure my laptop is up to the challenge as it is a brand new Dell Inspiron with dual-core processor running Vista.

Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello! To keep it long story short, when using websites to stream videos with a friend it lags on my end which makes the video skip around and overall do other unpleasant things. This lag is not present when I watch videos with myself, and this happens on both firefox and chrome. I used to be able to stream without any problems, but this has been happening for atleast a good month or 3 now and I haven't done anything except for switch which browser I use. I've tried cleaning my web browser, cleaning up my computer, switching from wireless to wired internet, etc. My notebook is currently wired to a modem that is hooked up to the "family" computer, a desktop using windows 7.
A list of streaming websites I use and the symptoms I experience are
watch2gether.com and mycircle.com - Video pauses without me touching anything. When I sent a message in chat, it doesn't appear until seconds later.
watch2gther.com only - Chat "refreshes" itself (i.e. reloads everything said).
mycircle.com - Getting "sync aborted" messages. When I refresh the page the only thing that loads is the top banner and a blank chat.

I have e-mailed mycircle.com about what was going on, they said
The problem you describe seems to be linked to a saturation of the memory used by the processes of your browser while using mycircle.Click to expand...

This is a bit of a complicated issue, and I'll admit I'm over my head on this one. I have a Gateway laptop running Vista SP1 that is connected to my home wireless network. The wireless connection will work great....except when I try to stream any video. Once I stream video, within 10-15 minutes of the video starting my wireless connection will go from Connected to Limited or No Connectivity. If I am doing anything else on the web, be it reading web pages, streaming audio, or anything else that does NOT involve video I will stay connected.

Here's where things get stranger, when I go into Network & Sharing Center to try to repair the connection, I'm unable to do so. If I try to disconnect from the network, Network & Sharing Center will stop responding and cause Windows Explorer to crash. Checking the culprit of the crash I noted that svchost.exe is causing the system to crash. Once Windows Explorer restarts, I'm able to use the computer normally, except when I try to get back into Network & Sharing Center, Windows Explorer will stop responding and crash. The only way I can resolve this is to restart the computer.

I originally thought that this was an issue to a recent Windows Update, so I performed a System Restore to before the updates, which did not resolve the issue. I'll be happy to provide any more information if asked later on, and any advice would be helpful.

I have a desktop with Ethernet running Windows XP and a laptop running Windows 7 that connects to the internet wirelessly. When streaming shows online I have issues with both computers. I have tried various browsers although Chrome is the main one I use, I have tried emptying the cache, none of this helps. My daughter was here last night with her old Mac book and on that I had no problem at all viewing online TV shows. I have the most trouble with TV Land, a lot of trouble with CBS, not so much with Hulu. They tend to hesitate a lot, sound doesn't match video, video is very choppy, etc. I couldn't watch the Olympics at all. When someone was doing a triple lutz, I saw maybe one as it misses so much movement. Maybe the best way to describe it is like watching an old movie and seeing every other frame. On my laptop which is newer, if my husband is watching an NBA game, for example, it may be really clear then gradually get blurrier then after a few minutes clear up then back to blurry. My internet connection is great with a download speed of 9.85 per speedtest.net. I have looked everywhere for help but am finding nothing.

RAM: Corsair TwinX XMS3, DDR3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 9-9-9-24 1.5v

and these parts brought over from my old PC:

Hard Drive: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black (1 Month old, 2 Partitions 200gb/800gb)

I initially had some problems with the following BSODs that were occuring 2-3 minutes after boot:

I was advised it was a RAM issue and increasing the voltage should fix it, so I then increased the voltage on my RAM from 1.5v to 1.64v (the top of the safe zone), and left everything else default.
As it is currently, the machine runs perfectly fine, I can play games (including system intensive ones) and watch HD videos off of my hard drive. The problems start when I want to watch streaming video on-line.
Typically within 10-20 minutes of watching streaming video i'll get a BSOD with one of the following codes:

Everywhere i've googled points towards a Hardware problem, probably RAM, and so I ran both sticks together and individually through the Microsoft Memory Diagnostics Tool and MemTest86+, MemTest86+ I ran for 12 hours on each stick. Hi,

I use Firefox with Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave, and recently I've been having an issue with watching videos on youtube. After several minutes everything starts to slow down - the picture gets jumpy and then freezes, the sound starts dropping out, and all other open applications get very slow and/or unresponsive.

I don't generally have slowdowns when I don't watch videos. The only other odd thing I've noticed recently is that the fans sometimes seem like they may be working a little too hard given the number of applications I have open, but that could be my imagination.

So far, I have done the following (none of which helped):

Checked my link speed at Ookla (24.92 Mbps down and 6.04 Mbps up).
Uninstalled and reinstalled newest versions of both Flash and Shockwave.
Updated Firefox to 38.0.1.
Ran Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials scans (both were clean).

Hello! Out of the blue this past spring my Windows Media player stopped playing streaming video (it says "Ready" so I click on the play button and nothing happens. Whereupon I click it again and again as I get angrier and angrier ) So I did a system restore to the earliest date possible and then it started working again...for about a day or two. So then I would do a system restore again. Finally even that stopped working and I gave up. I tried downloading the latest version of Windows Media (11) but that made no difference. On a tip from another forum I checked "use high quality mode" under video acceleration. Then, this past Saturday, it started inexplicably working again. I was ecstatic until today, when, yup, back to non-working. Why????!!!!!
Thanks so much in advance for whatever help you can provide - I'm pretty computer clueless; I had never even heard of system restore until I started scouring the internet looking for possible solutions.

When accessing youtube and certain other videos I have no problem, but when trying to watch other windows media content over the internet (such as CBC playbacks of newscasts or streaming audio) the player pops up, and shows "ready" but when I press play it says "opening media" for about half a second and then goes back to "ready."

My search on the internet results in advice that I should open Options in the media player and click the Network tab to make adjustments to the settings.

Here's the problem. Windows Media player won't let me open the Network tab. I click it, and it won't open, hence I cannot try to solve the problem. My internet search finds a reference to a thread at Microsoft that supposedly addresses this part of the problem but the thread is no longer available.

Can anyone help with these problems? I have another computer that does not have this problem even though both computers are running Comodo firewall, and Windows XP either Home or Media editions.

In an attempt to reduce the number of processes working I disabled several a couple of months ago. I can't recall whether the problems started then.

I have tried rolling back to WMP 10--no luck. So I have reinstalled 11.

Thanks.

A:cannot access streaming video through Windows Media Player

Well I resolved the problem. I corresponded with Microsoft several times. They were very helpful, but did not actually solve the problem. They finally told me it was a firewall issue.

I use Comodo, which did not seem to make a difference whether it was working or disabled.

I finally uninstalled a program called Threatfire. The problem then went away. I do not know whether I could have tweaked it somehow but for now the problem is gone.

I wanted to post the follow up for what it is worth.

Hi,

I'll try to provide as much of the story as I can... hopefully some computer genius out there can help me, as HP Support evidently cannot.

I have an HP Pavillion DV6t-1300 laptop, barely 4 months old. Here are the specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Intel Core2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2GHz
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator/Mobil Intel 4 Series Express Chipset

From day one, literally, of using this laptop, it has had trouble playing streaming video online from any website. CNN, Youtube, ABC.. anywhere. I have another 2 year old Dell laptop (Windows Vista) that runs on the same wireless internet at my home and has no difficulty whatsoever with streaming video, so I'm inclined to think the internet speed is not the issue. I've run CCleaner, downloaded 'Video Accelerator', and Microsoft Silverlight with no improvement to the streaming video problem. I've also updated my BIOS, updated my Graphics card driver, reset my Internet Explorer settings to default- no success.

Hi guys,

We cut the cable and are relying on Roku (in the bedroom) and Xbox 360 (in the living room) to watch TV through Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. We had some nasty weather come through this week and my other half (some may say my better half) wanted to just have the weather on the TV while we were hanging out. So, I set off to make that happen.

A local TV station (1011now.com) has a Livestream feature on their site, which requires Adobe FlashPlayer, and I was hoping to use that. However, Xbox 360's version of Internet Explorer does not support FlashPlayer. So, I scoured the web to see what I could find and it seemed that I may be able to stream video from my computer to the Xbox via web browser.

After about 30 hours of frustration and a fresh installation of Windows, I finally have my computer linked to my Xbox 360. I can play videos and music from my computer libraries without any problems. That being said, I still can't for the life of me figure out how to stream the FlashPlayer content to the 360.

I also learned that I don't have Windows Media Center (WMC) on my computer, which is what the 360 wants to use to do that kind of thing. I also learned that WMC isn't available for Windows 8.1. That is, unless I've grossly misunderstood something.

Any ideas on how I could make this happen?

Hello all,

I recently upgradded my Windows Media player to 10.

In WMP across the top there are several tabs. The last of which is video. Clicking on this I see screen shots of videos with a link beside it that says "play video".

I assume this is free, streaming video. Is this correct?

I cannot play this.

I click on the link and the screen goes black as you would expect, very briefly then the screen goes white. The status bar says "playing" but the screen just stays white.

The progress bar moves as if I'm watching a 9 second video playing on a loop. As it does this the status bar alternates between saying "playing", then "playing playlist: Playlist 5", "clip c",

I went into the MSN Entertainment Download Troubleshooter and everything comes up fine except "Digital Rights Management Test" which comes back as unsuccessful.

I don't know if these two things are connected, but suspect they are.

All the other media I have that I previously had plays fine with no problems what so ever.

Any ideas?

Dear Anyone.

Downloaded WMP 11. It installed fine. But when I go to sites, such as lordoftv.com, that use an embedded version of the player to stream video, I get nothing. No error message, just a screen with the Windows Media Player logo on it. I can click on it, right-click on it, no error messages, just nothing happens!

Tested some of the single-stream sites - lordoftv.com is a multi stream site with 1000 plus stations - with VLC player and they work fine. Thing is, with VLC you can only use single streaming sites, you can't make it work on multiple sites like lordoftv. Which makes it a pain - every time you want to change stations you have to change sites, find the URL of the streaming page and manually enter it into the VLC player!

Please, anyone have any ideas why the sites don't like WMP 11? They didn't mind 9, my old version, but I haven't got that any more :-(

Again, I'm sorry I can't give you a helpful error message but I'm not getting any myself. Just.... nothing happening.

Hello everyone.

I was working on my pastor's son's computer on Sunday afternoon and he mentioned to me that a Baptist College which his daughters attend streams live sermons over their Web site. He said, though, that for some reason he was unable to access these sermons. I installed the latest version of Windows Media Player, but still to no avail. I also tried to play the streaming video on my computer, but I encountered the same problem. I am attaching the error message dialog because I am sometimes not the best at explaining things.

The link to the sermons is (apparently) always available on the Web site. The only thing which I could deduce is that the streaming video would only work when the sermons take place, but that if the link is clicked on at another time other than the scheduled time that this error would occur.

Could this be a possibility?

Thanks everyone for any help or advice.

Take care.

Windows 8 was working flawlessly. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1, my IE started flipping out and then my NVidia drivers crashed (Windows gave me a "Video drivers stopped responding" message). Thinking the whole thing was fubared, I did a clean format, installed Win8, and updated to 8.1 without installing gfx drivers. Once I had updated to 8.1, I then installed the drivers and everything is running smoothly.
The only problem I'm having is on sites like YouTube and in metro apps that stream media like Netflix. The content starts out fine and then after few minutes of playing, halts -- nothing is responsive at that point. The mouse cursor moves, but CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work, and if I have the task manager open before-hand on the second monitor, it too freezes and becomes unresponsive. CPU fan doesn't spin up any faster so the cpu is not being 100% used. After hopelessly clicking around the screen, everything jumps back to life as if nothing happened after a couple minutes of being frozen.
I thought because Netflix have moved to IE11 HTML5 rendering that it was some how IE11 problem, I played youtube in Chrome browser and ran into the exact same problem. If I don't stream any video, everything works perfectly fine -- I've been using this IE11 instance for an hour now, browsing reddit, etc. and it hasn't frozen once. But if I go to YouTUbe and play something, it'll lock up in a few minutes.

My computer's memory tests ok so why can I play games with this never happening but when I am streaming or watching video through Windows Media Player, etc do I get the "green screen blankout" and then often the shutdown of my computer? I have 512 MB of system memory and 128 MB of video memory! I use System Mechanic and it shows I have at least half of my memory even during playback so what is the problem here? I can attach my system computer file of my information if you like in an e-mail if it will help. AND YES I HAVE THE DIVX CODECS. I thought about that to and uninstalled and reinstalled them with the same random problems. PLEASE HELP ME. This is really annoying.

A:video playback and streaming. Video card problem or software?

Well, it seems u dont have a hardware problem. this problem occurs only when u r watching videos. so i guess its the media player. take my suggestion, stop using it. Download this pack: KLite Codec Pack. I think the latest version is 3.2. Its got all the codecs u need to play compressed videos, and dvds. Its also got an advanced media player which can play any video u open it with like wmv, dat, mpg, rm, mov, avi, divx..... of course, the codecs for these formats r included in the pack.

This has been happening on and off ever since I started with Win 10 and its always very annoying .

System just hangs, no error message, no bsod, just complete freeze and loud hum.

I cant say I can remember having issues watching youtube videos, its the streaming of live content such as filmon. Sometimes I can watch filmon for days and not have the issue and then randomly it will start again. Today I was watching hypermole playing on twitch tv (live) and it just happened. Getting tired of it.
I can also report having all my video content display as a green screen after using hyper v although that may be totally unrelated.

As far as I am aware, I'm using the latest drivers for my graphics, I always try update everything. I have attached the log files as requested.

A:Hang up/Crash when streaming video, especially live video

Hi m1a1t,

Welcome to the 10forums

I'm not a specialist when it comes to freeze problems, but I do have a tip (or 2 when talking about reverting back the changes)
IObit software is known for causing problems, I would highly recommend that you remove it and revert back the changes it made when it comes to drivers.
DB3 may install corrupted or the wrong drivers what may cause problems,Malwarefighter is IMHO garbage,Advanced SystemCare may cause more harm than good
About the uninstall program I can't tell you anything, because I have no experience with it and I prefer to keep it that way.

Hello. I am trying to watch live video on nbcolympics.com. When I load a video, the advertisement comes up and plays, then when the streaming loads, the video goes black, but I can hear the audio .

Any suggestions? I'm running an intel i7 on Win7 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 58XX graphics card. I have tried upgrading my drivers, to no avail...

A:Solved: Streaming Video - Audio, no Video

I found the solution on another website - disabling hardware acceleration by right clicking on the video and going to 'settings' resolves this issue. Then the browser needs to be restarted.

Apparently its a fairly common problem with the current Flash build.

i connect the TV through lan .. the pc through the same lan

Can anybody help me with this?

A:Subtitles not streaming with Windows Media streaming

does your TV support subtitles through streaming? WMP won't do it but another
server like Mezzmo might -

Hello,

Recently my desktop decided it wasn't going to co-operate anymore. After a lot of googling and many patience lost I decided I would throw in the towl and ask for help lol.

I have no sound whatsoever, not from mp3s and not from streaming. Streaming video chops every half a second, but I can play downloaded avi video, still with no sound.

I ran malware bytes, no infections. and nothing from avg.
I tried system restore, both times it failed for some reason, at 2 different restore points.
my video card is working and so is my sound card.

im a do it yourself type person but this one has me beat, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A:Suddenly, no windows sound and no streaming video/sound.

I have the same problem.  Yesterday morning I booted up and all of a sudden there is no sound.  And Windows media player will not work ... no video or audio.  I have checked all cables and connections...plugged in different speakers and checked for system sounds which don't work as well.  I get video  from movies and videos with GOM player and internet videos but no sound.
About concluded that motherboard may be cause, but really don't want to install a new one.

Does anyone have a better idea?
Please advise

Starting sometime last week I've been having MAJOR issues with streaming online. For instance, when trying to watch a youtube video or using Pandora, I get a stuttering effect or echos. My computer is older (6...7 years), and it has slowed down over time. Usually my computer takes a bit longer to load content, but then can stream it ok once it got going.

My question is, how can I diagnose what's wrong? My guess would be that I'm running out of memory or something like that. I've done a virus scan with Malwarebytes and Norton, but nothing came up. Has tecnology simply passed me by and it's finally time for a new computer?

Any help in figuring out what's going on and fixing it would be really appreciated. If it helps, I'm on a Dell with Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 3, Pentium 4 2.80 GHz, and 2.00 GB of RAM.

Thanks

Here is the issue.

No matter the website i go to to stream any video, be it youtube or spikedhumour... it takes up to 10 seconds to start streaming, then roughly every 5 seconds it has to rebuffer...

The weird thing is, I typically download from 300kb/s to 1.2mb/s.

So... I tried my own troubleshooting.
First I tried multiple browsers.
Firefox, EI, Flock, and Opera.
All give me the same problem.

So I kept on looking for a solution, and found a program called:
Speedbid video Accelerator. (This is not an AD)

It still starts off slow with the frequent rebuffering. But It does work as the video progresses, Its like it streams a part of the video to itself and the amount that it streamed is put into the video you are streaming... So not really the solution I was looking for... I will keep using it until I figure this out.

I had multiple ads suggest a registry scan. So I bought a copy of some registry scanner at walmart... fixed some errors.... found hundreds... but then again these programs are always trying to make themselves amazing... I figured it wouldnt fix anything, and it didnt...

I am new to this "proxy" thing i stumbled on, what do they do and can it help me?

I am on a college campus, Internet isn't shared from what I can tell.
If i can download up to 1.2megs a second I should be able to stream quite easily.

Azereus Vuze, I have had this program for a while now. But I recently started to stream videos with it. With Vuze I am able to stream ANY video... Read more

A:Streaming issues! Help

I have tried other approaches...
I have vista, And i Disabled iPv6, and disabled TCP Auto-Tuning.

Neither helped....

Oh and an update, I downloaded at 3.5 megs a second on the ubuntu website...

I am curious if it is just vista in my case so I was going to try Linux OS... but partitions aren't working too well for me.

Anyway... even if you cant help...
Maybe you can post a possible source for my issue.
I will do the work on the research....

So far I have made the prediction that my issue that the internet is run through a campus network(router) and the security needs to be dampened. I am not connected via wireless, I have an Ethernet cord which runs into the wall.... not a modem... unless there is a modem behind the well......... riiiiiiight haha... so I am most likely run through a router.

So far my issue remains exclusive to this forum.

Hi

Just got a new pc (win 7 i5 cpu) and all was running fine until recently. For some reason many video's online (sky player, bbc news items even five live radio)all have stopped working and just try to keep buffering. You get a second of play then buffering again.

I have another older pc with the same network connections, anti virus and firewalls that seems to work fine and my broadband speed is fine.

Strangely some video's work fine ie youtube and bbc i-player.

Anyone got any suggestions of what is blocking the players ?

cheers
Steve

A:Streaming Issues

How long does the buffering last? 10-15 secs is normal. Wait until the video loads completely and then play it. See if that helps. The problem may not be at your end.

HI,

For about a month now, when streaming audio and video online the sound stutters at random points. I have an 8Meg connection so streaming shouldn't be a problem but I have new speakers and sound card so potentially isn't a hardware issue?

Many thanks

A:Streaming issues

it would depend on how good quality that 8M connection is
try this website http://www.pingtest.net/ to test the quality

Also are you using wireless - as that may be the issue , if so post an xirrus screen shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Hi,

I wonder if anybody have this same problem but sometimes when I am streaming web tv all I see is a jumble of colors. I get some tv stations fine (so that rules out there being something wrong with my PC doesn't it?)but there are always some stations where I can't get anywhere with. All there is is the sound is there fine but I am seeing only shapes of people and things. And colors!!! Its like I am seeing them giving off heat signatures in some kind of thermal imaging device.

It happens when I am using media player as well as when I am streaming directly from the station web pages.

I am wondering if it have anything to with flash player technology/quicktime? I haven't installed quicktime though I doubt its absence affects performance of general tv/video streaming, or could it?

And what is codecs anyway?

Hi. I am running windows 10 and want to stream the video on my PC with my TV which are both on the same network.
I had used Samsung smart view but even that has stopped since I updated to 10.
I have tried to add the TV to my home group but that doesn`t work either.
Any suggestions on the simplest way to stream from PC to TV.

From PC to TV?
VLC Player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Howto - http://www.wondershare.com/vlc/stream-vlc-to-tv.html

VLC Player is free and lightweight - plenty of YouTube howto vids.

Hi! Some time after I'd installed Windows Media Player 11, audio stopped working when watching a streaming video (like CNN Pipeline etc.). Some servers offer a RealPlayer stream as well and there's no problem watching that, but when the stream is in Windows Media Format, the WMP plugin in Firefox is used and I can watch it, but I can't hear anything. I downloaded&installed Windows Media Codecs from Microsoft.com and it didn't help. I uninstalled WMP11, but the previous version (WMP10) does the same.

When I copy the address of the video stream and open it in VLC Player (or WinAmp), it works fine, so there must be some problem with WMP.

Does anyone of you know what to do? Or is there any chance of changing WMP Plug-in in Firefox for a different one - i'd like to be able to watch streaming videos embedded in wep pages as before.

A:Streaming Video & WMP

solved... reinstalled my codec pack and everything runs smoothly.

Hello,

I'm sure that the vast majority of you will consider this a dumb question, but here goes. I'm running Windows XP and I use IE 7.0 as my browser. I also have AOL. When I'm in AOL, I can get the CNN live streaming video (for instance, I can view the current Court TV trial in progress). I get this by entering the appropriate web address for CNN live feed on the address bar on the AOL screen. As far as I can tell, it's the Adobe Flash reader that brings up the video, and it works fine.

The problem is, that when I just go to my desktop (without logging onto AOL) and launch IE, then enter the same address into the address bar for CNN live, I get nothing. It just sits there and I get no error message, but nothing happens. Every other site that I enter from the IE address bar works fine.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks,
Louis

As of this week I am unable to watch video at nbc.com. I am able to watch nbc programs on hulu - wouldn't they be the same file type? cbs, comedycentral and youtube all work fine. I noticed that one of the videos was shockwave so I downloaded a new version but that didn't correct the problem. nbc's site doesn't address this or offer help to users so I'm hoping someone can advise me.
I use Firefox, and may have downloaded some updates, but not a new version.
I had a little trouble with Bitdefender last week , but it isn't interfering with any other streaming video sources so I don't suspect it's the problem. (but what do I know?)

Hello,

I've been asked to get the following working but so far am stumped. Apparently it was working at one time (before I started here) and they want it to work again.

One of our clients, whose website we host and have done development on, has a live webcam that they want to provide access to from their site. They are running Windows NetMeeting on that computer and all works well when you connect using Windows NetMeeting.

But what they want is to have a link which would launch Windows Media Player and display the video stream through that.

Thank you for your help.
