Outlook Calendar.com, Outlook 2016, Shared calendars

Q: Outlook Calendar.com, Outlook 2016, Shared calendars

Dear Spice & I have Outlook.com accounts (both updated), with calendars shared with each other on Outlook.com (co-owner access level).

We can update each other's calendar directly on Outlook.com and in W10 Calendar. However, despite being configured as Exchange ActiveSync accounts, Outlook 2016 (and Outlook for Android) will only allow view-only access!

O16 is saying that "You do not have authorization to make changes to this folder."

This seems to require direct access to an Exchange server to change the folder configuration, for an EAS connection.

If Outlook.com is an Outlook 365 service running EAS, how can we tell Outlook 2016 to permit the full sharing access as authorized on Outlook Calendar.com?

This is probably affecting a lot of personal users who can't afford the infrastructure to run their own Exchange servers, just to share calendars.

(We are some of the refugees from Windows Live Mail, orphaned by the Outlook 365 conversion. That's why we're trying both O16 and Outlook for Android -- our eventual goal is to enable updating each other's calendars from our Android phones.)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007. Many users are sharing their calendars and have given proper access rights for other users to modify their calendars. The problem we are having is that previously shared calendars suddenly become unavailable. The message that pops up is:

'The set of folders cannot be opened.'

It seems that the permissions return when closing Outlook and reopening. Sometimes a reboot is required. We have even had some users that needed to reshare the calendar to get it to work again.

Have used the scanpst tool many times but cannot keep scanning every other day just to keep this working.

Ideas?

Copying this from an expired thread that perfectly explains my question...
I'm an Executive Assistant for 2 VPs in our company. I am responsible for managing their Outlook (2010) calendars and am a delegate on both. I receive emails when meetings come over for them to attend, and I am able to go into their calendars to see if they have a conflict. I am also able to schedule meetings from their calendars on their behalf. The problem is, I can only do this from my laptop with a network connection.

I currently have a company Blackberry, but it is useless when it comes to managing other people's calendars. I get emails for appointments, but they all look like they are inviting me. They don't say if they are for someone else and which VP it is for. I can view my own calendar, but there is no way to open one of the calendars of which I am a delegate.

I've been trying to research mobile devices (smartphones/tablets) to find one that will allow me to, at a very minimum, see who the meeting request is for and see that person's calendar when I'm out and about (so with 3G, not wi-fi). I've found some 3rd party applications to share calendars but they all seem to be geared for groups or small businesses that don't use Exchange. We are a mid-sized company and we definitely have an Exchange server.

Does anyone know of a device or an app for a device that can solve my problem?

Thanks in advance!

HI..

Ive got an Outlook 2003 using Boss and a Outlook 2002 using Assistant who are having issues with sharing their calendar. The assistant is inputting appointment data into her bosses Outlook 2003 Calendar.

The issue is : The 2002 user puts in a whole day appointment on a given day (say 10/10/2004). When she opens her bosses 2003 calendar, the same appointment is still a whole day, but it stretches across 2 days (in this case 10/10/2004 and 11/10/2004). Both users use common Regional Settings (Australia).

Outlook 2002 user is at Office XP SP3.
Outlook 2003 user is at Office 2003 Pro SP1
Exchange Server 2000 (sp unknown)

Anyone have any ideas for me?

At the college I work for we mostly use Microsoft Outlook 2007 at the moment. We do not use an exchange server, but we do use Oracle Content Services and Oracle Outlook connector. People can share their calendars with others. We recommend going to File > Open > Other User's Folder and searching for their name, and if they have correct permissions, they can view that person's calendar. The problem is that once these calendars are in your Outlook, we don't know how to remove them. If you try to right-click > delete, it wants to delete it from the server and they obviously don't have permissions for that so it denies them.

Is there any way at all to remove these shared calendars from their navigation pane? I mean they can be unchecked but they stay in the list, obviously. We have many users that need to view tons of shared calendars, but when an employee leaves, their calendar is in the list unless we recreate the other user's Outlook profile, forcing them to re-add all the calendars they need.

We have users running on Windows 7 and XP, if it matters.

A:Remove shared calendars in Outlook 2007

OK well I actually figured it out on my own...if anyone cares, I had to select my Shared Folders in the Mail view, which actually showed the calendars that have been added underneath it. Then go to Tools > Shared Folders > Manage and remove them from there.

>Must be low-profile.
>Cannot pose a security risk.

Thanks for your help, im sort of stuped on this issue, I know other programs that supposedly do this, but would like to hear you guy's opinons first.

A:Shared calendars (outlook) in workgroup setting

Well, Outlook is not your solution, then.

Without an Exchange Server, outlook has to store it's info in a PST file, which can only be accessed by one person at a time.

However, you could use a hosted Exchange plan (Rackspace is one such provider)

I'm trying to help a friend who has just installed Office 2016 on her computer, which was recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10.

She's been using Outlook.com and has accumulated a fair amount of email, contacts and calendar appointments. I've managed to get her email to show up by adding it to Outlook 2016 as a POP3 account. I was able to import her contacts into Outlook 2016 from a file called OutlookContacts.csv. Now I'm trying to get her calendar with all its many calendars and appointments into Outlook 2016.

I'm not sure why but the appointments all show up just fine in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10, even though we did nothing to put them there (as far as we know). But she'd like them to appear when she clicks on the Calendar in Outlook 2016 and I can't find any information on how to do that. I've also looked for some kind of Export function in the Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 app but I came up empty.

How do I get her calendar into Outlook 2016?

I can't be the only one who finds Microsoft *awful* at documenting this kind of basic functionality. Millions of people must have tried to do the same thing before me but if there's any information out there on how to do this, it has eluded me so far....

A:Export calendar from Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 to Outlook 2016?

You can manually export calendars from Outlook.com using a round-a-bout method I posted at this link. However, I don't think that's going to help you because what you really want to do is set up Outlook 2016 so that her email, calendar and contacts sync with (and stay in sync with) her Outlook.com account.

Therefore, instead of setting email up as a POP account and then importing calendar, contacts, etc. separately, why not just setup Outlook 2016 to work with her Outlook.com account? I haven't done it with Outlook 2016, only older Outlook versions that used Hotmail Connector, however the following instructions for Outlook 2016 seem fairly straight forward.

https://support.office.com/en-us/art...7-76d60b148b23
If she has two-factor authentication switched on for her Outlook.com account, then you may need to generate an app password from her Outlook.com account, and use that as the password instead of the actual Microsoft Account password.

Is there is a way to designate a Shared Outlook Calendar (that is used as our company-wide calendar) as an individual's default calendar. We are set up with a Microsoft XP Exchange Server.
The goal is to have the company-wide calendar download to a Blackberry Curve as the user's default calendar. Right now he sees his own calendar which he does not need. We have the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on his network computer.
Thank you.

A:Can a shared Outlook '03 calendar be designated as one's default calendar?

As an addendum, it would be preferable that the Outlook/Blackberry user not be able to modify the office-wide Shared Calendar (should there be a way for him to see it) so that all changes still go through our calendar maven. Thank you.

Hi

I added my Google account to the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app, but I can only view some of my Google Calendars (my personal and a few others) BUT none of the calendars under the "other calendars" category on Google Calendars are populating/syncing and showing up on my Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app...

I was just trying to see what I may have missed since I've researched and read countless pages of blogs about syncing Google Calendars with Windows 10 Mail and Calendar and haven't run into many people with this same issue.

Also, on my Android Samsung Galaxy S4, I'm able to view on my phone calendar app, ALL entries dating back to 2010 when I first used Google Calendar, but on Windows 10 Mail and Calendar...it only shows entries from this current month of September (when I added my Google account to Windows 10 Mail and Calendar) and the future...

Only recurring weekly/monthly etc entries show up for the previous months on Windows 10 Mail and Calendar...??

Hello all!

I'm hoping someone might be able to help with my little problem.

I've recently set up my own business, and for us to work everyone in my company will need to be able to see free/busy time in our client's calendars, in order to arrange meetings for them.

I want to make it as simple as possible for our clients to share their calendars with us. Is it possible for our clients to share their calendar with a shared mailbox in my company, which will then be viewable by everyone with access to that mailbox?

Or is there another way for our clients to give access to all staff members, without needing to share with each individual team member?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!! We use Office 365 in Windows 10. Emails also hosted by 365.

Many Thanks,
Alex

Our salespeople and engineers share calendars for the purpose of setting up training and meetings. Lately there has been a rash of complaints that the view is not the same for everyone looking at a persons calendar. Also there has been a permission problem for those salesmen at a remote office. any insight?

Thanks, R

A:Shared Outlook Calendar views

When viewing someone else's calendar, you will see the default view of that user OR Outlook's default calendar view, depending on the version of OL. Sounds like some training is in order for your users on how to change the view to the one they want to see.

How are user's assigned permissions to view a calendar? If one group is having problems, it sounds like the NT/AD group to which they belong was not given permissions.

Just wondering if any experienced the following and if they found a fix.

I have a client who's had inadvertently added a user to share her Outlook 2007 Calendar (In an Exchange Environment). My client has since removed that user from the Permissions Properties. But, for some reason the Shared symbol still appears on her Calendar Icon.

I confirmed that there were no other user that have permissions to her Calendar. As a test I added and removed a user in having permissions to the Calendar. The Shared Symbol disappeared for a while but returned once we restarted Outlook.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have read the Microsoft articles on this but still a bit confused. I?m asking this on behalf of my son who is trying to get it to work.

If I have Outlook 2016 installed on a Windows 10 desktop, and using Pop email, is there an easy way to sync Calendar with an Android phone? From what I have read, it requires a Microsoft exchange server to do this, which I am not using as I am on POP. Also, it appears that perhaps it is only the email which can be synced, or if calendar is synced, it may not be 2-way syncing.

I?m not worried about syncing the email, just the calendar. I have found how to save the calendar as an iCalendar file and this can be imported into various Web apps. However it is a one-off import.

I can set up a gmail account with calendar on my desktop and sync that to the gmail calendar on the phone.

So I could enter each appointment on both my Outlook calendar and Gmail calendar, but that is doubling up. I may as well enter it straight into the phone, although using Gmail does have the advantage of syncing back to the computer from the phone if I am out and about.

I want to keep the Outlook calendar because it works with appointments received from email.

I?ve never had to bother about having a mobile calendar so I?m not sure how all this works.

I think there are 3rd party programs that might do this but I?m a bit wary of those not knowing which may be OK or not.

Also, I did a test import from my Outlook 2016 into Outlook.com by saving the calenda... Read more

I have a SharePoint-originated calendar that I've connected to Outlook to manage it more easily. However, I have to add items to the calendar manually to the SharePoint calendar from my personal calendar (within Outlook) instead of being able to send them directly to the site calendar, and have them be added automatically. In SharePoint 2010 there was the option to enable email for a calendar, but that's no longer there. Is there a workaround for this handy feature that isn't available anymore?
Thanks!

A widespread problem? My Outlook 2016 Mail is performing normally in Windows 10 and syncing mail with my phone. However...I cannot sync my calendar or contacts into my Lumia 735. I get hints (nothing specific) from online searching that since my service provider (Time Warner) doesn't use MS Exchange, that the syncing can't be done. Can anyone verify that?
My mail is transferred cleanly, but contacts and calendar won't come over to the phone.
Any ideas about a solution?

A:Trouble with opening shared calendar in Outlook 2003

midstatemike,

Researching your problem produced less than satisfactory results. {Outlook 2003 is rather ancient these days}

FWIW > The links below hopefully may provide you with some clue.{I am not holding my breath.}

You cannot open a shared Outlook folder from a sharing invitation that you receive from another Outlook user

Good Morning,

I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Macros and VBA.

What I need is one of two possible scenarios.

1. Information from a Training Assignment PivotTable exported to a shared calendar on Outlook.
2. Information from a Training Calendar bulit as a Macro in Excel exported to a shared calendar on Outlook and the ability to update either calendar if new information becomes available.

Don't know which is best using code via VBA or using the Export/Import functions.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I have a user who is having an issue with Outlook 2007. The device is on the work domain, which is managed using Group Policy. The drive was imaged from a master image, like every other drive in our nearly 5,000 device network. My point is, this is something localized to the user or her machine.

Anyway, the user has many shared calendars that she views all at once. When viewing them, her preferred and current view is Day/Week/Month. The problem is that she switches constantly between her calendar(s) and email. Sometimes, when she switches to email and then back to calendar (by selecting between the two on the lower left menu), the calendars suddenly change from Day/Week/Month view to All Appointments view. When she changes it back manually, she has to reselect all of the shared calendars that she was viewing. This happens multiple times a day.

I already ran a macro to lock the current view, but the issue persists. Online research got me nowhere, and upgrading to Outlook 2010 is not an option right now.

What am I missing here? She wants the Day/Week/Month view to always stay. Why would it randomly change back to All Appointments view when switching between email and calendars?

Outlook 2007 in the computer of one of the users in my company cannot view or edit a shared calendar. When I try to open the calendar it pops-up an alert that says "You do not have permission to view this calendar"

It doesn't seem to be a rights or permission issue, because when she access using her account information in another computer, she is able to view and edit the calendars. Some of the other computers have Outlook 2007 as well, so I'm wondering if there is a setting or an extra step that I need to configure in Outlook 2007 in order to access those calendars?

A:Outlook 2007 cannot view nor edit a shared calendar.

let me explain:

there r 2 users in ur company : A and B

If A wants share his calender with B then :

1: A needs to grant access to B from his outlook calender. right click on calender- share- calender permissions. Assign the desired permissions

2. Then B needs to ' open' A's calendar in his computer by : right click on 'my calendar' - add calendar - from address book.

Good Luck.

Hi All,

My users are on Outlook 2007 and we connect to an exchange server (2003). The problem we are having is that previously shared calendars are suddenly becoming unavailable. The message that pops up is:

'The set of folders cannot be opened.'

A more detailed message suggests the following:

'This error usually occurs if the OST or PST file you are using is:
> Unavailable
> Protected with file permissions.
> On a share on a server and the network is down.
> Corrupt

To correct this problem, store the OST or PST file on the local computer.

You may also want to run the scanost.exe and scanpst.exe tools to verify file integrity.'

I have tried scanning them and they are fine. When I look at the permissions they are gone. When the user re-shares the calendar it is ok again but often looses the permission after a re-boot (but not always).

Any ideas welcome...

To my knowledge because calendars are created via a mailbox in an exchange enviornment a seperate mailbox would need to be created and shared to all people needing the group calendar.

Or if a person would like to share their own they can choose the people they would want to have access to their calenders.

Is there another way to only create a calendar public?

Windows 10 running Outlook 2016. When I did a fresh install I set up 3 email address and added my .csv files of contacts and calendar form prior install. I did not pay attention and Outlook 2016 assigned them to an email address I now wish to get rid of.

Did a web search and didn't come up with a good reliable way to transfer the folder to another email address PST file. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I have set up Calendar Sharing in Outlook so I can view everyone's calendars. I am having a problem with viewing a particular users calendar as it keeps telling me that I do not have permission. The end user has given me permission but their meetings only show up as 'busy'.
The same steps used for other calendars don't seem to work on this calendar.
