I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have been using a Display Port to HDMI Cable with my M92p for a long time now to connect to my 2 Philips Monitors. I now wanted to connect my M93p the same way and I'm now struggling to do so. I just cant get a signal out through Display Port no matter what I do neither in Bios nor on Windows. And on the PC side, my Monitors are not recognized at all. As my setup works with the M92p, the cable and Monitor are OK I guess. Why does M93p fail? Apart from VGA, the Display Ports are the only other Option. I read that M92p has DIsplay Port Version 1.1. and M93p Version 1.2: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/M93P-Displayport-1-1-or-1-2/td-p/2174499 But I also read that Cable wise this schouldn't make any difference. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Overview WHats the problem here? WHy is Display Port Output not working on M93p while it does work on M92p?

I tried updating the BIOS on my M92p tiny and now I don't see the bios screen or any output. I have tried the BIOS recovery steps in the manual:- The system doesn't beep after a few minutes with a USB BIOS recovery key (tested and usb is bootable on another pc)- The system turns on but doesn't show any output or errors- I burned a BIOS CD but when plugging the CD drive into the internal sata + sata power it doesn't get powered- I tried the CD drive while being powered from another pc and then plugging the sata in - didn't do anything- The system will ramp up the fan for a split second and then the fan slows down and the system stays on- Sometimes the system will reboot a few times and then go off completely. - Taking the RAM out gives the RAM error beep code- The CPU gets hot so it must be powered at least?- I left the CMOS battery out overnight I have a vga cable plugged in, it's possible that it's outputting on the displayport so I'm not seeing anything but I find that very unlikely? Anything I've missed or could try? If not, any idea how much a replacement motherboard is?  Cheers

My thinkcentre won't boot, all I get is an error "FW status recovery" on black screen. The problem started after I unpluged it and move to a new location.I found out the onboard battery (CR2032) was dead, and replaced it with a new one, but the problem still persist. I tried resetting the CMOS using the jumpers.I now installed the latest BIOS software (using CD) and still the same issue.I can access the BIOS setup using F1, but nothing can get me past the boot operation (I can confirm latest BIOS was installed). Any idea on what is corrupt and need recovery?I tried resetting BIOS to default values.  Are there any settings on the BIOS that I can try? Is there a way to update the firmware using a USB/CD boot media??  I can't boot into windows to use the Intel Firmware tool. It's a ThinkCentre M92p type 3238. Thanks for any assistance.

Problem solved toay,You need to open your machine. Find the cmos clear jumpers.Move the little cup from positions 1-2 to 2-3. Unplug Hard Disk. Close the machine. Insert a portable USB DVD to a usb port (have a copy of the new bios on the cd) and turn on your machine. It will boot from USB DVD drive and it will load the new bios. Machine will shut down after the new bios update. Open agin the machine, plug the Hard Disk and put back the jumpers to 1-2 position. Unplug USB DVD and it will boot from Hard Disk. That's all. IN OTHER WORDS: Bios update can be done if first you change the jumpers on motherboard.

Hi,

I have a new M92p Tiny (2121A4U) that was purchased to take advantage of the 3 native independent displays.  Additionally the DisplayPort to Dual-DisplayPort Adapter (0B47092) was purchased to facilitate this as I was told that is what i needed.

So far, I can get either cloned or stretched desktop on the two DP monitors, but NOT extended/independent displays.  I called Lenovo Support and after walking them through their own product and what their marketing department is saying exists, was told that the Intel HD 2500 card doesn't work for this.  According to the PSREF (pg 161), this DOES work.

One would think it'd be simple, but so far . .  nothing.  I've updated all drivers and BIOS, downloaded and installed the Mosaic driver and such, but still . . . no change.

So, does this work? Or not?  And if so, how do you go about doing it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I just purchased an M92p Tiny for playing around a little bit with it, because I like the form factor.I got the pretty maxed out spec machine (i5 CPU, 8gb RAM, I put in my 500gb Samsung SSD, 2 x Display Ports, 1 VGA, I added a brand new mPCIe WiFi/Bluetooth card, ...).I installed Windows 10 Pro and XUbuntu as dualboot via UEFI and it works fine.By the way I also upgraded the machine with the latest BIOS firmware from the Lenovo support page. What bothers me:- I configured in BIOS a slower Lenvo splashscreen, but still it passes by pretty fast <2-3 seconds I believe -- but ok, I can live with that, but would like to see a bit more relevant and interesting information than just a splashscreen- I can ONLY see the boot splashscreen and F1 BIOS setup and F12 boot device prompt via VGA port (I played around with the configuration in BIOS auto/IGP without any effects - and multi-monitor option doesn't exist as stated in some other posts)- Once boot procedure is done, and the OS is switching graphics mode (Win10 or Xubuntu login screen in Xorg) then it switches to DisplayPort. How can I enforce the usage of the Display Port all the time from the beginning? I don't want to use the VGA port at all, but I want to have the option to see the F12 boot device prompt and maybe go to the BIOS setup via DisplayPort from time to time. Hope you guys can help me, thanks in advance!!!

I have the M92p Tiny and would like to get my temps down. My idle temps hang around 50c and just some average tasks bring that up to 80c quickly.First, what is the weird socket this has? The LGA1150 cooler I have doesn't fit this one - the screw holes are in different spots. Are there any available aftermarket CPU cooler options out there for the M92p? I don't mind keeping the case open with a huge cooler. I see the M93p has a proper heatsink, anyone knows how cross compatible these machines are? Can I swap the fan and heatsink from a M93p onto my M92p?

I've seen several posts related to this in some way, but either no answer or somewhat different. In any case: The issue I have is that I recently purchased multiple ThinkCentre M700 Tiny's and all of them have the same issue. I can plug in either monitor into either individual display port and have it work, but if I try to plug in both, the second is not recognized and leaves the monitor blank. If I try to detect another monitor in Windows (7 X64 pro), then it shows "Another display not connected" that is available output on Intel(R) HD Graphics 530, but I cant select it, or use it in any way. If I apply, that "monitor" stays there indefinetly and another detect will bring up a 3rd. The monitors are connected directly via DP>DP and DP>DP. I've run Windows Updates entirely. No luck. I've tried removing the intel driver entirely and reinstalling from Windows Updates, no luck. I ran Lenovo System Update and installed all recommended and optional patches. Nothing. I've tried updating the BIOS to FWKT6AA from Lenovo's site. No luck. I've tried switching the monitor mode in BIOS away from auto, no luck and no options to enable dual monitor. I searched through all of the BIOS for any such option. I've upgraded the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver to 20.19.15.4474 (highest on Lenovo's update page) no luck I've tried upgrading the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver from Intel's website directly. Okay so I'm stumped with my work terminal.

I'm using a Lenovo M92 (M2121-D5U) and I've been trying for days to extend a third monitor, but have failed at every turn.

I have 3 video ports: VGA, DP (and an exchangable third - currently DP). I have all three monitors plugged in, and using my Intel HD Graphics Options, I can switch between 1/2 - 2/3 - 1/3- etc, etc, but I cannot actually get the display to extend across all three monitors.

My current System Stats:
Windows Version: Pro 10.0.16299
Processor: Intel i5-3470T
BIOS V/Date: 9SKT99AUS 6/30/17
SMBIOS: 2.7
BIOS Mode: Legacy

I've gone into my BIOS and the "Multi-Monitor Support" option in Video doesn't exist, even when I change from AUTO to the Internal Graphics.

Every time that I try to extend the 3rd screen in the native Display Properties I see this error:
The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings.

But like I mentioned, I know that my pc recognizes all three monitors as plugged in, but it won't allow all three to display simultaneously. Does anyone have any thoughts? - I've gone through the Lenovo Updater and even pulled down the BIOS Flash from Lenovo's website, and as far as I can tell I'm up to date on everything.

A:Thinkcentre M92 Tiny: optional 3rd video port, unable to make all 3 monitors work concurrently

I've gone into my BIOS and the "Multi-Monitor Support" option in Video doesn't exist, even when I change from AUTO to the Internal Graphics.

The "Multi-Monitor Support" is an option in the BIOS for systems that have a PCI slot for a graphics card.  Not applicable for a Tiny system.   That said, having 3 monitors concurrently active with your system (with this Intel processor model) should be possible.

Other things to try:  1. reset the  BIOS settings to the defaults.  2.  do a CMOS reset.  Remove the coin battery, unplug AC power cord, press and hold the power switch for 20 sec multiple times (then, if possible leave overnight), insert battery and power, wait 2 minutes and power-on.

Hi,

I just bought the M910X tiny desktop and 2 identical Lenovo ThinkCentre monitors. I installed the desktop into one of the monitors, which works fine. How do I connect the second monitor to the PC? It seems like the DisplayPort showing on the back of the monitor is only for plugging a separate device into the screen, not video out to a second monitor from the PC. Is that right?

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Thank you

When you say "installed into a monitor", it's a Tiny-in-One monitor?  It would help to know which model.  Pretty sure you would need to connect the 2nd monitor direct to the Tiny itself, is there a way to do that with it installed in the monitor?

The monitor blacks out for two or three seconds and comes back while watching Movie (Netflix, other online streaming) and sometimes blackout and if I do not reconnect cable, screen stays black. 1. Update video driver manually, found instruction here, still same2. changed HDMI cable, not displayport (female to HDMI) adaptor, which is brand new, still same3. uninstalled Intel video card drive, restarted and Windows installed it again, still same. Same happens from both outputs, I was searching solutions for three days, tried different ways, nothing changed. Any ideas? I bought DisplayPort Adaptor from Maplin. P.S. Also, when I connect M900 to my TV with Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor, after 10 minutes, it disconnects.

I have a Thinkcentre M73 running Windows 10. It has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 graphics card connected to a ViewSonic VA2349 monitor. Since I have had this computer I have had the monitor connected via the VGA port. But since my monitor has a DVI-D port I decided to get a display port to DVI-D cable and try that out. But after I connected that cable I could not get my monitor to recognize it. The monitor has a button that allows toggling between D-Sub and DVI. But when I try to switvh to DVI the screen goes black for a second and then returns to D-Sub. I have tried connecting the display port to DVI-D cable only but it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when having both cables connected. I went into the BIOS to see if there was a setting to enable DVI but there didn't seem to be. I also checked my graphics card preferences and Windows display settings but I couldn't find anything there either.  I am at a loss. I don't think the cable is defective. I just bought it. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple that I am missing. Thanks.

I've got online very cheap my second M92P Tiny to later find out that it was "downgraded" from it's original i5 3470T to Pentium G2030. While the Pentium G2030 is fine for the tasks I plan to use the tiny, I am concerned with it's TDP of 55W vs 35 W on the original i5 CPU. So far it keeps fine, but I am concerned about long term usage,as I plan to use it as small/quiet server and reliability is a must. Besides the original i5 3470t, what other options I have?Woud it accept a low power Xeon like E3-1265LV2 (45W TDP) or E3-1220LV2  (only 17W TDP!) or any other Xeon?

Hey everyone,  I sincerely hope there is someone around who can help me with this problem, as clicking "contact lenovo support" does not provide any actual contact method with Lenovo support personnel   So the story:I bought one of the desktops that were being offered for sale at my company. These guys came off duty in January, and had warranty and support till March of this year, but they took their sweet time wiping them, so I only received mine now. When I went to install windows, I went into the bios to set the usb stick boot priority, and found the bios screen was in shambles. It was working, and all text was legible, but it looked like a text file opened with the wrong format in an ancient version of Word or something. This was somewhat of a concern, but the machine seemed to be working fine, and windows 7 64 bit installed without a hitch (aside from needing a days worth of updates and a ton of lenovo drivers). So after the first wave of windows updates, I got the service bridge installed, and had Lenovo System Update take care of all drivers and suggested updates. All succeeded, except for the BIOS flashing! The flashing window came up, started doing it's thing, then quit before I could read any errors. I believe the error was Child Process error 16. No matter what I did, it did not work.At that point it was late in the PM, so I just gave up and let windows do all the remaining updates instead of messing more with it.Day 2, Windows fully up... Hi there,I recently got a ThinkCentre M92p (model 3227K75) with a CPU i5-3470 (3.2Ghz), 32Gb of RAM, large SSD and an nVidia GeForce GT1030.I have seen lot's of not up to dated forum regarding the upgrade options for this computer so I hope you don't mind if I make this question again: what's the best upgrade I can do, with appreciable result, for CPU and GPU? Other question: can I go for 64Gb of RAM? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!Gennaro

I would like to upgrade my GTX 960 to a 1070. My concern is if the motherboard can support a GTX 1070. I have already replaced the power supply so that is not an issue. Just would like to verify before I make a purchase.

I got a refurb M92P with (according to the specs) an 80 watt PS (?). To upgrade I thought I'd at least try the Lenovo 240 watt (since the footprint is identical). Anyway, got it, hooked up the 24 to 14 pin adapter cable, and plugged it in. The unit wouldn't boot, kept turning on/off every couple seconds, so I shut it down and replaced the original PS. Anyone heard of that happening? It seems odd that I read of other people hooking up 3rd party PSs with the adapter cable with no problem, yet a Lenovo  made PS does this? Also, I'd hate to buy a 3rd party PS and experience the same thing. At least with the Lenovo PS the vendor accepts returns. Any insights appreciated.

I have a high pitch noise coming from the fan. It's not bad, but if the room is quiet it can get pretty annoying. I isolated the problem to that by unplugging with case off for 10 seconds and noticing the noise was going.  is there a better fan to get? this is the stock fan currently in there.https://www.amazon.com/BASA0715B2U-Lenovo-Chassis-03T9721-Cooling/dp/B071VVZRXV any recommendations please?is this a proporiatry fan? Thanks

So far it keeps fine, but I am concerned about long term usage,
as I plan to use it as small/quiet server and reliability is a must.

Besides the original i5 3470t, what other options I have?
Woud it accept a low power Xeon like E3-1265LV2 (45W TDP) or E3-1220LV2  (only 17W TDP!) or any other Xeon?

Hi ...i am having hard times to update / recover the bios of a number of machines which i own.within my basement i have around 20 m92/3p machines running - and i was able to handle/update them in the past quite well with no issues so far.machine type => M92p Tiny 3227 / running linux normallyWhat i tried so far:+ Bios recovery with image versions x79 / x98 / x99+ recovery through USB memory or with the standard CD/DVD-Drive+ CMOS battery existing one, removed or a new one+ recovery jumper on 1-2 or 2-3 in general the system does not have any video output any more on the internal VGA - after a while it goes into dual beep-mode and stays therehowever - during the recovery procedure of the BIOS, it shows the bios update screen until it goes up 100% and says COMPLETE - then the machine turns off (like described within the HMM)but afterwards it falls back into darkness :-( i alredy tried to update a second one, which failed too unfortunately - i don't know what i am doing wrongthis time i stayed with the machine to follow the update process - i went stuck at 1% and never went any further :-( any new ideas are more then welcome|> ralf

Just wondering if, and how, I can troubleshoot an oddity I have. We run a number of this model Lenovo and decided they would be better with 8Gb of RAM, up from the original 4Gb. All went smoothly until one PC emitted a musical alert on booting after the upgrade, which stopped when I removed the new RAM. I checked I had the new RAM in the correct slot, blue just like the original stick. I tried the suspect stick in the next box and it is fine. Where do I start looking to find out what is going on? Regards, Granville.

A:Thinkcentre m92p memory upgrade failed

I would repace the original 4GB with upgrade memory, test to see if it boots, and then put original memory into upgrade slot and test, if it fails, that slot is probably bad.   You could use it in the other bank, won't be as fast, but you'll have 8GB.

After any memory upgrade or change, I suggest running a couple of passes of MemTest86, the free version, to ensure all is well.
