COM object embedded in html file using Internet Explorer not loading properly

Q: COM object embedded in html file using Internet Explorer not loading properly

We have a COM dll which when embedded in html file and ran on Internet Explorer (Windows 7) was working fine. We were able to make call to the APIs exposed by the COM dll.

But recently, we installed the windows updates namely
KB3074886 and

After this, whenever we are accessing the API's of this COM dll, we are getting an error "SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method: ". So we tried uninstalling the above two updates and saw that we were
able to access the APIs of the COM dll perfectly fine. Only when these updates are installed we are facing the above said error.
Can someone assist us in what may be going wrong here. It will be very helpful for us as it is important for us to run with this updates installed in our system.

Thanks in Advance,

Satyanvesh D

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Every time I open a new IE window it doesn't load for 10 mins or so. Once it's loaded my internet works fine. I've ran AVG and found nothing, if there's anything else I can do or have overlooked I appreciate any help.

I have an updated Windows Vista 64bit, yet the IE7 refuses to fully load any pages except for maybe a very limited time maybe once a week, where it appears to actually load pages, as it should do all the time.

The progress bar is crawling slowly, but I think it is just a tease.

This freak attitude of the IE7 has become mighty annoying. I use some other internet browser most of the time, but whenever I need to use IE7, it will not load any page at all.

I did a "reset" in the browsers advanced options but this does not solve the issue.

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection, and I cannot make any sense of the issue searching the internet for clues.

So I want to ask, is this issue familiar to anyone?

A really weird issue has arisen on a 2012R2 Terminal server.
In IE or Chrome, when a PDF is downloaded, the file extension will be stripped from the name. (.exe and .zip files do not appear to suffer)
For example items on this page, beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/03452791/filing-history
Download from the site without the file extension on them and need to have it added manually.
This happens in both Chrome and IE11 but do not appear to happen at our other customers or even in our own office.
Second Issue is related to the same customer, in that on the same terminal server certain sites will not load in IE but will load perfectly in Chrome.
The following page is a PDF as well so it might be a related issue, when trying to load it in IE they get a "This page can't be displayed" This happens with other sites but I do not have a list of them at the moment.
http://goo.gl/fAhGE6 is the shortlink for it.
The weirder thing is that their other servers have no problem with this site and they all use the same server for DNS as well.
For opening PDF files we currently have Foxit Reader installed. Which has worked perfect over the past 2 years.
Can anyone think of a setting that might be causing it?

Did AVG remove it? Does it give you a more specific filename (so we can double check to see if it's deleted already)?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ to update manually.

I'm trying to allow the user of a power point slide to change the value of cells in an embedded excel worksheet while in presentation mode (and therefore allow automatic calculation of a formula elsewhere on the embedded spreadsheet). An example is attached. What I'd like to do is to make the embedded excel spreadsheet copy the value the user has typed into the text box into the 'Input new value' column once a button is pressed ('recalculate' in the example).

It's probably straightforward, but I've not cut and paste to an embedded object before! Any help would be great!

Are you using a "Signature File" that was created in MS Word? If so, that may be your problem. Outlook is not reliable with coding a signature created in Word. You may want to create either an HTML signature or just create it in Outlook without using Word.

Hello all,

The issue I am having is at startup. After rebooting my pc, I discovered that the screen was black shortly after the Welcome screen loads. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del brings up the Task manager and shows me that explorer.exe is running, however my toolbar and desktop background aren't showing. I cancelled the process and ran explorer.exe as a new task and the toolbar reappears though without my AVG icon. I then logged off and back on to my user profile. My icons reappeared in the toolbar. After doing some research on people with similar problems, I attempted to correct the problem by first checking the shell extension of explorer.exe to see if it was renamed or manipulated but it shows as "Explorer.exe". I then attempted a system restore to an earlier date but that didn't fix the issue either. I've run both AVG Antivirus and Malware Bytes from safe mode in an attempt to locate any infections but neither found anything. I also ran /sfc scannow, but the problem persists. Also, due to the product being pre-installed (so no installation dvd), I could not find the option to run a startup repair.

The last program I downloaded was Microsoft's Compatibility Toolkit v5.5 and used it to remove the UAC popup when running Ventrilo chat software. I had recently downloaded Vista Home Premium sp2 as well but have since uninstalled it trying to troubleshoot this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Has anyone seen this problem and is there a patch or setting for Word XP that fixes it?

We have a document created in Word 97 with an embedded Excel Spreadhseet object displaying a chart.

When we open the document in Word 97, everything is normal.

When we open the document in Word XP the chart is rotated 180 degrees around the vertical axis. The chart is right side up, but the left side of the chart is on the right and all the letters are reversed.

When I double-click the object to edit it the chart flips around to normal. When I exit edit mode (without making any changes) it flips back.

When we convert the Excel Worksheet object to an Excel Chart object in Word 97, save the file, and open in Word XP the chart displays normally.

The problem is that we have an automated PDF converter that uses Word XP, so when we create the PDF, it is created with the reversed chart. We are not staffed to open every Word 97 document and convert spreadsheets to charts. How can we fix this without installing Word 97 on the converter?

I have a Lotus Notes application where drawings are embedded into Notes documents. There is an agent to extract the embedded file and save to a specified location but it has now stopped working at the point where it does a saveas

Set rtitem = drawing.GetFirstItem("BodyText")
Set embed = GetEmbeddedObject(rtitem)
Set handle = embed.Activate( False )
Call handle.SaveAs(sFileName)
Call handle.Close()

the embed.Activate loads the AutoCad software, I changed the False to True to show the application, when the code gets to the call handle.SaveAs() line it comes up with an Automation object error. I have tried using handle.Save instead and that comes up with the same error. The autocad software being used (autocad LT) has a SaveAs and a Save function.

There is a problem in which Flash Player stops once during the operation of the business portal currently operating based on Flash Player, so please contact us.

As a result of the verification, it is confirmed that it is not related to Adobe's Flash Player and is related to the function of Shockwave Flash Object installed in Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11.

Therefore, I would like to know whether it is possible to delete and reinstall the Shockwave Flash Object function.
And I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade or downgrade only the version of the Shockwave Flash Object (or any other related function) while leaving the version of Internet Explorer.

Hi, I am running AVG and detected a bug but it seemed to get rid of it. But then I started noticing that when I try and visit a site thru Google search the page that pops up is not the right URL. It is happening very frequently now. Sometimes I simply cannot access the page. Other times I keep hitting back and retrying and it will finally work after a few attempts (usually directing me to a different site each time).

I have since deleted what AVG put in the virus vault but know that the hosts file was changed. When I recently took a look at it it looked like this - localhost I just changed it in reverse like I saw on the net to - localhost. (If this was a mistake please let me know).

I am also still getting a read error in the AVG log system32\dmjql.exe.

Welcome to TSF.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install. Make sure 'Run fixit' is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin. Follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer. Your system may take longer than usual to load - this is normal.

Wait until your desktop loads. A notepad file called report.txt should open up. Post that log here.

Download win32delfkil.exe http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/win32delfkil.exe and save it on your desktop. Double click on win32delfkil.exe to install it. This creates a new folder on your desktop called win32delfkil. Close all windows. Open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat. The computer should reboot automatically (if you, restart it yourself). Post the contents of c\windelf.txt along with a new HijackThis log.

Firstly, I'd like to say it is amazing what you can find on the internet: a service "offering free computer support for everyone". Secondly, I understand if "everyone" doesn't include me, because I am really not too good with this sort of stuff, but here goes.

I am having a problem with pages not loading completely, or loading completely and then sections of it disappearing. I am using Windows XP Version 2002, Service Pack 2.

The problem happens whether I use IE or Mozilla as my browser. These are the versions I am using.
Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254

I am also using CA Security Centre in terms of internet security (virus scan, spyware, etc), Version

I have attached two files, iselect.bmp is what the page looks like initially, and then iselect1.bmp is what happens after a second or two. This website is one example, the others are not as easy to obtain screenshots of, but I am assuming it is the same issue.

Hope this is enough info and not too much trouble for someone to help with???

ps. can someone tell me how I stop the dozen or so applications automatically loading upon startup that I don't require (I know, probably very easy, but .... ahem .....)

Thank you.

When I want to watch Flash videos embedded into Facebook pages videos are not displayed as they should be. Where the video should be seen there is only blank white space. Audio is running normally though. If I click FULL SCREEN video mode Flash video

I have tried playing same videos using Google Chrome which is also using Flash ActiveX and everything is working fine there. Firefox which is using Flash Plugin also works fine. Only IE11 is not working as it should.
I have already reinstalled Flash Player and disabled all IE11 addons but problem is still there. I would say this is not Adobe Flash Player problem as in Chrome everything works fine.
Both the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player and updated IE11 are installed on my computer.
Can you, please, tell me what should I do to fix this problem.

There is a bug that completely changes the tables I have set and it only happens in IE. Pics are attached that show what is supposed to happen (in Chrome and FF) and what happens in IE. Please Help me! I can provide code if needed, but I have narrowed down the problem to something with the <form> tag. The form tag is inside a table which is inside another table.

A:Internet Explorer HTML <form> tag bug

Nevermind, I fixed it. The problem was the <form>. I do not know why it did this but that was the tag that screwed everything up. My fix was to use <select> without using the <form>. It is working now!

I am relatively new to Access. So far I succeeded to complete couple projects, but now I face a real challenge: I need to write Access web application. Unfortunately I have never written any code in HTML, JavaScript or any script at all. I know that by using Page object, Access creates web application, but for my project I would need to modify it.

I have a couple questions.

1. Does anybody know of any good book I can learn writing code in HTML for Access 2003?

2. I have an “EMPLOYEES” table and want to use ComboBox to find the record of the employee by name. How can I do that in HTML?

3. Another ComboBox would display a zip code, and by the Zip Code field, the fields City and Area Code would be populated. ZipCode, City and AreaCcode are the fields in another table, which linked to “EMPLOYEES” table by ZipCode_ID. How it can me done in HTML?

I appreciate any help

I am trying to find a way to create a form to keep track of some data, where I can open it up in a HTML or on its own without having Access open all the time. Can anyone assist me with this?

A:Microsoft Access: Creating Forms in a embedded HTML

Although I have not tried using Access in this way I do have a suggestion. There is a book called "Access 2010 the missing manual". I use Access for my job and almost everything I know I learned from this book. Also another resource is http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/index.php this is a forum website much like Bleeping computer that focuses on Access and can help you on high level Access use like you are looking for.

Sorry to be one of "those" guys who makes an account just to ask for help, but my windows file viewer has an annoying bug. When I double click a folder it opens in a new tab, every time. I've tried going to >view>options>change folder and search options but it says that they should open in the same window.

Any idea what's going on?

A:File explorer not working properly.

No, but have you tried restoring the default folder options?

Hey guys,

So my problem is when I open file explorer and open a folder and select any file, file explorer begins to take up most of my cpu. It has been happening for the last couple of days now. Also, some times it does not show the thumbnail of some of the files it only shows a blank sheet of paper and the green search bar at the top never fully reaches the end. I downloaded process explorer and when I click on the explorer.exe and go to threads, there are 5 "Start Address" thingys (im sorry i dont know what they are called) taking up around 17 or 18 each of my cpu. When I suspend them then my cpu goes back to normal but my file explorer still plays up not showing thumbnails for files and the search bar at the start never fully completes. I will provide screenshots and you can look yourselves. I have no idea how to fix this. Thanks guys.

I appear to have a problem with my netbook where Internet Explorer is failing to allow me to access any websites (coming up with the message 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage') despite the fact that the internet connection appears to be fine (e.g. I am able to access msn without any problems).

I've tried clicking on 'Diagnose Connection Problems' but it just comes back with the message that Windows Network Diagnostics didn't identify the problem.

I was accessing common websites such as google and the BBC using favourites, so I know they've worked for me on this machine in the past.

I've tried using tools to clear the history in case that was the problem but to no avail.

Suggestions welcomed!

HTML code displays when visiting the website in Internet Explorer. Can't figure out what is wrong.

A:HTML Code displays in Internet Explorer

Hi HTMLNewbie, and welcome to TSG.

Are you talking about a web site for which are managing and creating content (TSG has a separate Web Development forum)? It would help to give us the URL for it.

Are you saying that Internet Explorer is showing HTML code for any web site you visit (TSG has a separate Web & E-mail forum). The exact version of IE and Windows might help for starters.

Internet Explorer (listed as Q831167 under "Add/Remove Programs") will not run. [I'm using Mozilla & Netscape without a problem.]

And I can't read any Outlook emails in html.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled as many Microsoft products as possible - Office, Internet Explorer - to no avail.

I have Norton Internet Security 2004, loaded yesterday - but I can't use it properly, I suppose b/c of the html issue. And help menus for any program are unreadable.

I've run Spybot 1.3 and Adaware, both with newest updates.
I have the newest anti-virus definitions for Norton loaded - but can't use Norton, so not sure if it helps any. I've eliminated most of the start-up files to clear up any potential issues.

Not sure what to do - and I've spent HOURS!!!!!!

I would appreciate any advice!!

This isn't Internet Explorer. It's only a patch. If this is what you uninstalled, you didn't uninstall IE. You only removed a patch. In any case, you can't really uninstall IE. You can roll back to a previous version (except on XP), but you can't remove it completely unless you use some sort of non-MS third-party utility.

I have been using TopDawg HTML editor, but when I click to preview the page I coded, I click on default browser, IE, but it only opens Notebook. I went to folder options, to choose what opens an html page but the apply button stopped working. another site had me download to desktop this reg fixer: exefix and double click it so regedit would apply the fix but it didn't help. Even on an other html editor, I can't seem to preview the page in IE. I tried Internet options, programs, HTML editor, but I can't change the default Notepad. Any suggestions? btw, I did run my registry booster but nothing helps. any help is appreciated

I am trying to create a 2-column html table. I want to put a large image in a cell within the second column of the table, and "wrap" the image in <div> tags so I can limit the display width, and have scroll bars so the user can scroll the image to view the entire thing.

The sizing of the <div> works correctly but, the table is always the width of the ENTIRE image...nothing I do seems to limit the width of the table. So, even though the <div> is the correct width, and has the scroll bars, the table is the width of the underlying image.

I will include some sample text to demonstrate the problem. Just choose a large image that you might have on your machine, and insert it's path into the <img> tag. The example image I am using is 1600X1200.

PS: in this example I am using "min-width" and "max-width", but the problem is the same if I simply use "width".

This code works properly in Firefox. Is there anything I can do to get the desired behavior in IE or, are table widths determined by the contents of the table in IE, regardless of the properties that are defined?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can give.

A:html tables in Internet Explorer [Moved to design]

My web programming skills aren't really good enough to help you but i have a few suggestions.

Don't use tables and position everything using css
Its actually very easy to learn i used a tutorial at the website html-dog (google for it) which was very helpful.
Tables should only really be used for tabular data and are not a way to lay out websites.

I think it will look awful if you have to scroll to see the rest of the picture in the way that you describe, if you have to put it in a table why not put a thumbnail in which when clicked links to the full size version of the picture?
