I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Lenovo4g510i5,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with power in your Lenovo G510 laptop.

Perform the power drain, to perform please disconnect all the external devices connected to the system shut down the machine and remove battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Now connect the battery and turn on the system and check for the issue.

This is to drain the static charge as the LED might be due to the static charge.

Best regards,

Hello! I recently decided to dig up my old Lenovo Ideapad Y410p, and to my surpise, it had been dropped before without my knowledge. I proceeded to attempt to plug in my PWR+ I7 replacement charger, and to my surpise the power button had lit up (the one on the palmrest/keyboard's surrounding area), and the power indicator (this one was white) and the battery indicator (this one was amber) were on aswell! I saw no signs of life from the screen, nor did I hear my fan, hard drive, or etc.. turn on as I tried to turn on my Ideapad. Furthermore, I tried using the Novo button, and used several reccomended methods of pressing the power button with and without the battery and/or charger, I don't know whats wrong with my laptop! I am capable of assembling and disassembling the system, as I have done it before, but what should I do in this case?

Hi prashantc ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would the caps and numlock respond?

You can try power drain by removing the battery and ac power cord, press the power button down for 12 seconds.

Else, try booting on another live boot media or remove the harddrive (page38) to check if the screen and buttons would respond.

Update us how it goes.

Hello! I have been having this problem for about a week now, ever since I set my old computer back up in my room. The problem started when I left my computer alone for a while when I went out (the computer was working fine and I had just finished transfering pictures to my computer from my camera). I came back and the power light on the front if the case was on, but the battery light was off. The monitor had also gone into sleep mode. I turned off the computer since I knew whatever I was going had already been saved and exited out of, unplugged everything (including the monitor and PC/Monitor cable) and plugged it back in and turned them on. The monitor goes straight to power saving mode (sleep mode). The PC is definitely receiving power, the keyboard's caps and num lock keys flash, the wireless mouse's light flashes, the pc fans turn on, and both of the power and battery lights turn on. But, after a second, the battery light turns off, and the only light I can see through it is the power indicator's light bleeding through. The strange thing is, I've been able to get it to work before, about 2 times actually. Both of those successful boots happened either when I ignored the thing for so long or left it unplugged over night, but had already forgot it didn't work last time. But it did those times. So I tried to leave it unplugged all last night. Just woke up, and... still nothing. I really need to to get those pictures to my mom, so if someone could ple... Read more

This just started happening recently. The power indicator light (near the power plug) does not turn on and Windows does not recognize when the adapter is plugged in; the power icon and cusomized power saving "on battery" behavior reflect that. HOWEVER, the battery does charge. The "lightning bolt" charging light on the front between HDD and system power lights comes on and the battery recharges if not at 100%. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? Is it more likely a Windows or hardware problem? The BIOS does not have the power adapter test mentioned here, and I could not find the software download for the Smart Adapter functionality (this laptop was installed with clean, non-OEM OS, so any OEM software had to be added manually). Thanks in advance,Kyle

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Regards

Hi,

I have just been handed a computer from my next door neighbour, it seems to be a home build (or a computer shop build) so im unsure of the exact specs as it is not booting, they are telling me that until yesterday it was working fine... but now it will not start..

All I can tell from opening it up is that it is XP, has an Eagle power supply, a winfast motherboard and 512mb of Dan electric Ram..

when you switch the system on all the fans start and the hard drive spins up, but then there is one beep and the green power led on the front of the case goes from constant green to flashing green and nothing else happens..

I have removed and checked the HD wich is fine, I have reseated the RAM and even changed it from DIMM 1 to DIMM 2, but none of this makes any difference..

Could it be a power supply fault or a Motherboard fault?? or even a graphics card fault?? how can I find out which it is??

I have asked my neighbours if they still have the user manuals but they claim they threw them out when they moved in about 3 years ago...

Can anyone help??

Many Thanks
Geoff

Hi there, I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and it is about 2 years old now. I have been taking the battery out when I can in the hope that it won't run out as quickly. However, I noticed the battery was only lasting about 1.5 hrs (depending on use) so I just left it in and now the icon in the taskbar says there is no battery detected, even when it is in. When I take the charger out, the battery continues to run but it still doesn't detect it and a continuous red light comes on the charging symbol. It lasts for a while and then just shuts down without warning when the battery runs out.

So the battery is still working, I'm guessing it's still charging if it can still function but it says it's not detected by the computer? I'm confused on what is the problem is here - whether it's a dying battery or motherboard problem? If anyone could shed some light, it'd be appreciated!

Thanks

I own a G500S Touch and have for the last two and a half years. It's been going fine, until a few hours ago. The computer has ran out of battery due to a broken down charged that only works at the most precise of angles. Usually when it is dead, the two lights at the front of the computer are off, and if I press the power button, the light on the right flashes red for a second and goes off. But for whatever reason, it keeps doing that over and over to absolutely nothing. It has been one second red, one second nothing, and repeating for several hours. Issue with the computer? Issue with the button? What?

A:G500s - Flashing Red Light

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to page #13 of your model's User Guide, a fast blinking amber light means there is a problem with the battery or battery connection. Here is a link to that guide for your reference...

From what you have described about "precise angles" it is not clear if you are having problem with the adapter / charger or the port in the laptop in which the adapter / charger plugs into.  Your problem maybe that the battery is totally drained as it is not being charged and the adapter can't power on the laptop due to a bad connection.

I have a dell dimension 8100 that has been powerleaped from a 1.7 to a 2.5.  I recently upgraded the RAM from 256 PC 800 RDRam to 512.  I also have upgraded from a GEForce 2 Ultra to a GEForce 4 Ti4600 quite a while back.  Everything has been working great until the last week or so and I am at a loss here.  I used to leave my computer on all the time 24/7 with reboots here and there when I needed to.  Well, after I lost the fan on my Video card I started to turn it off.  After about six months of this it decided that it doesn't like to boot up after a night or two of being off.  What happens is when I push the power button you can hear it power on but the monitor says there is no signal being sent from the computer.  The other weird thing is that the power button light is amber instead of green.  I turned off the computer and unplugged all power from it and tried again.  This time it booted up.  The last time it happened, unplugging it didn't even work so I pulled the case apart and cleaned it out.  I yanked the Video card out of the AGP slot and reseated it and turned it on and presto it fired right up.  What gets me is when I leave it on and have to reboot it, everything works fine.  It only acts up when I leave it off over night or longer and then start it.  Could this be the battery on the motherboard?  My clock doesn't seem to be losing time in windows or anything.  If a... If the power button is blinking amber, it is probable that the power supply needs to be replaced. If the power button is solid amber, the power supply should be fine. At this stage of bootup, memory has not yet been tested, and is not a factor in this type of failure. Check the CPU and ensure that it is properly seated.

Hi, I have a y50-70 that has been working pretty smoothly for the last two years. I am studying abroad in Italy and was told that my charger should have a built in power adapter, however when plugging into the outlet via an outlet adapter it immediately made a popping sound and started smoking. The charger was a replacement which had been working fine for about a year in the states, but I just assumed that this one didn't have the built in adapter and I drew too much power and fried it. I ordered a new charger specified for my model from amazon Italy (with European plugs) in hopes that it would work....but no luck, and he charger is making a consistent soft hissing sound when plugged in. I am also getting a blinking orange battery light when plugged into the charger, but this is the only form of response I'm getting from my computer.  After reading around my best bet is that I've blown a fuse or fried the battery but I wanted to see if anyone had a more confident diagnosis before I go shooting in the dark. Any thoughts?  Thanks, sam

Bought my wife this computer for Christmas.  Apparently Dell has combined the power indicator light/hard drive activity light/ and battery status light into one single light on the front edge of computer.  My concern is that the light only comes on briefly when I first plug  in the power supply, then it goes out  and never lights again.  Even when the hard drive is writing or reading the light doesn't come on to show activity.  Is this normal?  I'm concerned as this is one way I've used to determine if things are happening on my computer as they should be.  If  the light is not designed to show hard drive activity when it occurs, what use is it?

I have a LeNovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD, Model Name 80QQ, purchased Feb 2015. When I try to power it up, the power light comes on and the battery light comes on, but there's no fan and the screen is black. If I press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (with the lights on) the lights go off again, which I presume is doing a hard power down. I have tried removing the AC power and the battery (which involves taking the keyboard off first!), leaving it an hour, pressing and holding the power button several times for 20 seconds each, then plugging the battery and AC back in and powering up - but the symptoms are unchanged - power light, battery light, no fan, black screen. I have tried the "One Key Recovery" procedure using the Novo key - this produces the same symptoms as a normal power up - power light and battery light come on, but no screen and no fan. Any suggestions? I'm still in warranty so worst case I can send it off to get it fixed, but I'd rather find a way to fix it myself and not have to send it away.

this is my first Lenovo computer, I bougth it form a friend that was not using the laptop because he lost the charging cord and was lazy to buy a new one, I bought the laptop for 300 bucks, and managed to find an used cord for 20 bucks, the battery was dead when i pluged it in, but it did turn on when I pressed the power button and the battery charging indicator light was blinking, just as normal, the problem arrived when I discharged it enough that windows asked me to plug in the cord, when I did nothing happend (the computer did not recognize the cord on the task bar and the battery light was not blinking), I was worried thinking that the cord was not good (since it is the 90w version), but to my surprise, the battery porcentage was rising up, but the time remaining was not rising, but when it reached 100%, the time refreshed and all is normal now. the only thing is that when I disconnect the cord it jumps form 100% to 95% instantly.. What should I replace?

Hi There I'm having a BIG problem with my 4th Gen X1 Carbon laptop. When it's on it seems to work fine but if I need to power it off or do a restart. When It tries to turn back on, the power light flashes once as does the function bar then it turns off. I have to wait at least 5 minutes before I can turn it back on. I have tried the diagnostic software and everything passes with the exception of the Fan. it says "Not Available". I'm unsure if the fan is grayed out by design or if that is where the problem could be. If anyone has come across this before please let me know. I have limited confidance it the system untill I can resolve this issue. Thank youRobert

My Lenovo Yoga 910 (OS Windows 10) don't start after being hibernating. I pressed the power button and, eventhough it turns on the white led, the system don't start (black screen and keyboard). So, I maintained it pressed for more than 30 seg until the power button's light flashed a couple of times and, its turned off. After that, if I press the power button, it turns on the led but the laptop doesnt start any more.I'll really appreciate any work arround to solve it.

After doing hard reset it was working earlier. But now it again randomly stopped today and even doing hard reset it is not working. Even tried all possible socultions mentioned on forum like, removing battery and plugging ac mains directly. Then pressing power button for 10 times even for 30 seconds. Removing RAM etc but nothing help. Currently my laptop shows only power light when connected to ac mains and even pressing power button nothing, no fan starts, no screen nothing. If anyone has any solution over this please let me know.

I purchased a Lenovo 110S a week ago. I?ve found that I have issues turning it on sometimes whereby the power indicator flashes a few seconds but the laptop doesn?t power on. This happens with enough battery power, for example it?s happened when I have had 50% battery power remaining. I plug the laptop into mains AC power and it will then power on.  But im stumped as to why this doesn?t happen all the time. If anyone can offer help it would be appreciated! PS: my battery is a concealed one ie; in the laptop casing with a cover that?s screwed on.
