Unable to install Windows Update: Update Kernel-mode driver framework

Q: Unable to install Windows Update: Update Kernel-mode driver framework

I am unable to update the Kernel-mode driver framework ver 1.11 for windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2685811). I get error: 80073712

Also, I am getting BSOD/stop errors in normal mode that say anything from:

-memory_management 0x0000000001a,

address fffff88000626a8f9, base at fffff88006269000, datestamp 49b9d125

I'm not sure if they are related.

When I run in safemode I do not get the BSOD. When in normal mode I will get BSOD consistently when running Norton Full System Scan, specifically when the full system scan gets to the Windows/system32 folder.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Unable to install Windows Update: Update Kernel-mode driver framework

I, again, apologize for double posting. I figure I should include the host of other issues I'm having. Maybe they can all be inter related.

-my DVD/RW drive, when connected to mother board in ANY SATA slot, causes the BIOS screen to freeze forever. I have disconnected the drive at this time while trouble shooting. I have tried known-good SATA cables so I know it's either the DVD/RW drive or perhaps a driver or mobo failure.

-I have run the memory diagnostic tool in windows. No issues were reported.

-I have NOT run memtest86 because I do not have a disk drive connected.

-I have had stop-errors (BSODS) such as PFN_list_corrupt, System_service_Exception, Memory_management, IRQ_not_less_or_Equal
All of these could be a result of bad RAM.

I have purchased new RAM as a means to fix my problems. It seemed to work for 2 weeks, then the stop errors returned.

The following update will not install on my pc (update for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2685811)).

I get error code 8004402F.

When I try, my pc ends up having to reverse the changes and will reboot itself twice before I'm back up and running again.

I am not a computer wiz and I don't know what to do. Our IT consultant simply tells me not to download it and turn off automatic updates, but I feel that if they say they're important they ought to be installed. I have also had other updates fail, but they will eventually install if I keep trying and install them one at a time.

I would be grateful for any help. Our pcs are only just about a year and a half old (windows 7 64 bit).

Update for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems won't install.

I have tried the FixIt tool on Microsoft and all the other suggestion on their site and I'm still not able to install. Also, my display driver times out and causes my computer to go to the blue screen and I think this may be due to the driver not being updated.

Hey all,

So I am currently reinstalling Windows on my dad's old laptop after the hard drive decided up die on us, and I stumbled on a problem that's a bit too hard for me to fix.

Namely, I am completely unable to install any Windows Update. Not even MSE will install.

I tried running SURT, but got error code 0x8000247
I also tried running SFC /SCANNOW, it ran the verification fase until 98% and then stated that there where unfixable problems.

The displayed error codes are:
In WU: "8024A000"
In SURT: "0x8000247"
Whilst installing MSE: "0x80070643".

Attached you will find CBS.log and MSINFO with my system specs.
Cheers and many thanks in advance,
Nommy

CBS.log MSINFO32.nfo

A:Windows Update error code 8024A000; unable to install any update.

That's very reminiscent of similar errors in Win7 - and I wouldn't be surprised to see it being non-genuine.
Please post an MGADiag report BEFORE doing the below potential fixes.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&DwnldID=17882

(IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

If nothing has changed, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

If neither of them work, we'll re-evaluate.

Im facing "Unexpected kernel mode trap BSOD" during windows update. I came to know that reason for this issue is, bsnl evdo usb modem driver "UE 100 1xEVDO USB modem" (Prithvi bsnl cdma evdo usb modem). But I cannot find latest driver for this driver. Every place the same version driver is available for download. Is any body found solution/(latest driver) for this issue?. Is there any alternative?

I have attached minicrash dump in this url,
http://www.mediafire.com/download/f9xg6kb4egwb644/dell-dump.zip

I have attached screen shot of driver details.

I cannot do windows upgrade due to this. Guys, Please help me to solve this.

Machine details:

Dell Inspiration 15
Windows 8.1 x64
6GB RAM
problematic driver: UE 100 1xEVDO USB modem(VIA_USB_SER.sys USB2SER/MDM from VIA Telecom)

A:Unexpected kernel mode trap BSOD-during windows update

I was having the same issue.

wdf01000.sys, unexpected kernel mode trap

There is nothing you can do about it except uninstalling the "BSNL connection manager". BSNL/prithvi will likely never release an update for the driver. I found that if you try to restart/start your PC with the modem connected, then you will face the issue, either while turning the computer on, or while working in it.

I suggest that you start the computer first, after having access to the metro menu/desktop, plug in the modem.

Actually, this modem is faulty. Frequently disconnects when data speed increases, overheats quickly, etc.

Anyway, try the above method. If it doesn't work then let me know. I think I may be able to provide you an alternative software.

I found some questionable files this week that had been downloaded by my son. I have since spent a great deal of time trying to scan and clean the computer. Each malware/spyware/anti-virus scanner has had varying levels of success.

It seems that the bulk of my issues have been resolved but I am still unable to install the following update from Microsoft: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2719177)

Each time I try to update it, it aborts and gives me an error code (80073712), that is not showing up in any google searches or searches of microsoft's site.

Additionally, every time I shutdown or restart the computer it shows that new updates are being installed.

I am using Windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to installed .Net Framework 4 and it keeps telling me to Update Windows first.

So I tried updating windows but I keep getting the 80070005 error.
I googled the error and I came across this

Basically I should download subinacl.msi and install it in c:\windows\system32
but when I do I get this: error 2755 1632

I have no idea what to do next. I can't install .Net Framework, can'y update windows, I can't do anything.

I even checked if the TEMP folder is encrypted, it's not.
Any advise?

If it is problem with NET Framework 1.1 or 3.5 remove it by using Net Framework Cleanup Tool Aaron Stebner's WebLog : .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User's Guide (not through Programs and Features!) and reinstall it again. If it is problem with 2.0 ,3.0 and sometimes with 3.5 (if reinstalling it don't solve problem) then follow below:

I've gone into Control panel/programs and features and the program Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 was installed 4/13/2009
So it's there to be updated.

My PC keeps trying to install the .Net Framework 1.1 update (KB953297) but it keeps failing. The Update is it says that fails is:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297)

I recently cleaned some malware, rootkit and hijacker stuff off my PC, so I'm not sure if that could have caused this update to keep failing.

Note: I know there are newer version of the .Net Framework but my PC doesn't seem to have them installed (my Add/Remove programs only shows the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1. However, I do remember it showing the 2.0 and the 3.X (can't remember if it was 3.0 or 3.5) before. I ran a dotnetfx.exe (from microsoft) that removed all the .Net stuff from my PC, so it removed all versions. Since then, automatic updates isn't picking up the other .Net Framework versions (it's only finding the 1.1 version update).

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get this update to install? Or do I even need 1.1? Could I just install the newer versions (and if so, how do I do that)?

Hi,

I've had great success with you folks in the past removing viruses and with increasing my system response time and I would like to ask for your assistance once again.

I was having trouble installing the new MS update KB922770 earlier this week.
I had this problem in the past and it was resolved by deleting the .NET Framework 2.0, reinstalling it then installing the update.

Now when I try to reinstall the .NET Framework 2.0 I get the message:
C:\Documents and Settings\Beau McCrury\Desktop\.Netfx.exe is not a valid WIN32 application.

I don't know what this error message means and consequently I'm not sure what to do next. Would you please advise me on how I should proceed?

Sincerely,
Beau McCrury

A:Unable To Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 And Update KB922770

Hi beaumac

Quick Fix Try:
1) Make sure that Update KB922770 is not present, and if it is, uninstall it [Add-Remove Programs in Control Panel]
2) Try deleting whatever .NET 2.0 download you currently have, and use this link to download a fresh copy --- http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...a/dotnetfx.exe
3) If .NET 2.0 installs successfully, you can then reboot, and try another visit to Windows Update to see if the patch now installs OK.

The error you were receiving can sometimes be generated (humorously enough) when the 64-bit version of .NET is accidentally downloaded and it's installer run [the error message is konked a bit, because 32-bit Windows gets a bit dizzy when fed 64bit code].

See if that helps
. . . Gary

So i decided to use the Setup file to repair or remove it from my computer and then reinstall again but then there are errors too. "fatel error during installation". ive installed SURT and also did the sfc scan but was still unable to update. The update file number is KB2833957. I've attached all the logs and files i think that can help.

When I try and install the update for my video driver and the latest Windows update (Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130), I get an error message saying: "Windows could not load installer for display. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance".

Also (and I don't know if this is related or not, I am unable to view "properties" from my desktop or to change screensaver/background themes from the control panel).

From googling the error message, I suspect that it has something to do with my video driver but I'm not certain.

I'm helping my girlfriends sister with some laptop problems...

She has a Dell Inspiron I1000 - 2.2ghz Celeron - 500 mb of memory - Windows XP Home SP2

After Christmas her laptop stopped booting normally... it just hangs, never finishing setting up the taskbar or desktop for a normal boot... I'm only able to boot it into safe mode.

I have run Spybot and Ad-Aware, both of them removing numerous items, but it still does not boot. I have attached a HJT log in the hopes that someone will have a few ideas.

In addition to that, when I check to see if her machine is fully updated, I get the following error from the Microsoft website...

Yesterday Windows Update offered me security update for .NET Framework 4 KB2572078 .

# The install failed and the cause might be:
1. i recently deleted C\Windows\Installer (not a smart move but it grew way too big )

2. some months ago had some Visual Studio 2010 uninstall problems as well (removed it with the clean up utility but i'm not sure it was done well)
## I already tried:
1. Uninstalling Framework 4 from Windows Add/Remove Programs (no luck)
2. using Windows Install Clean Up (no luck)
3. using .NET Framework cleanup tool (removed it)
4. cleaning with CCleaner for registry/temp files
5. Reinstalling it from Windows Update (no luck) & Manual Install with both Web and Standalone Installer full and client version. (no luck)
______________

### More Details:

-I still have Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X64 and X32 services even if i get error on trying to start them "the system cannot find the file specified"

-On manual install, it rollbacks the progress during installation of .Net Framework 4 Client profile then i get fatal error and a windows setup error.
I attach the log file along with the setup utility log file, MSI log (.rar archive) and screenshots of the windows setup error and Event Viewer logs.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:.NET Framework 4 (re)install/update error !

Run the DotNetFix Cleanup tool and remove all versions of .Net Framework and restart. Now download the Windows Installer. After that go back to Windows Update and download all the .Net Frameworks in the right order leaving 4.0 to be the last.

Well, bought a new video card, a XFX Radeon HD 4850 1gb DDR3, and while installing the drivers and CCC, it says that I need to have Framework 3.5 SP1 installed to use.

So, I went to update.microsoft, downloaded, and on install attempt, it says "DotNetFXInstallBlock.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

This happens every time I attempt to install it.

It's the 32 bit version by the way. (x86)

It doesn't even reach any menus or user agreements.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time.

None of this worked and I don't know what else I should do. It doesn't seem to affect my system at all. I want it to either insrall properly or get rid of this nuisance update. Advice please.

In Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs uninstall your .NET Framework installations. After uninstalling all your .NET Framework, download .NET Framework Cleanup Tool and execute it and clean up any configuration data that was left behind. Then connect to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com with Internet Explorer and do a Custom Update. In Optional components you will have the .NET Framework installers listed. Select the one required by the software you are using on your system. If you are unsure, install them all. Then your updates will install properly.

My automatic updater keeps telling me I need to install the latest security update for Net Framework 1.1. I've tried a number of times and always get a failure report. The logs say Ox643 is the error code. Looking this up on the MS site was no help. Any ideas about how to get past this? I really don't need Net Framework ( I think), so would un-installing it be an option to remove the nuisance reminders about updating it?

Running Win 8.1 on a Lenovo U530 (factory specs).
I can't update the microsoft.net framework to 4.5.2 or 4.6.1.
I've tried a clean boot, the microsoft.net framework repair tool and windows update repair tool. The update repair tool fixed 3 issues and after doing so showed that there was no framework update for my pc. As soon as i began to manually download it however,
i then got a popup saying there were updates (surprise surprise, it was .net framework finally coming to its senses). And of course it didn't mean squat, the update still fails.
On further attempts of various methods I did notice that the .net framework version 4.5.2 fails to install, while the 4.6.1 will "rollback" its installation, although this doesn't seem to have any effects ill or otherwise.

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties. What's the version of Windows XP that's currently installed in that computer?

If Windows XP was reinstalled in that computer, it needs to be upgraded to SP3 first and then have all the post-SP3 high priority updates installed before you start installing any optional updates.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Since it's a Dell computer, there should be a sticker on the case with a 7-character "service tag number". Advise what that number is.

Security Update for Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (KB943973)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB950241)

Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB943985) v2
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (KB953432)

I've tried turning off my spyware blocking software and disabled my antivirus software, too. I have no problem downloading other software from the internet.

Dear Subscribers and Contributors:
After three hours and probably 2 dozen reboots, I have given up and I will no longer try to update Windows 8 and will probably turn off automatic updates. It seems that I'm not alone in this issue and the internet is full of posting with frustrated clients.
Updating Win 8 has become more annoying than a root canal and at least the latter is purposeful.
It's hard to believe that Microsoft can't get its act together after all these years.
If anybody has found a viable solution to this problem (without returning to Win 7 or buying a Mac) please let me know.

Arturo

A:Unable to install any Windows 8 update

Have you tried the MS Apps troubleshooter http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=268423

Read that one guy had used it for some buggy Win 8 apps and it gave him some missing security settings that he wasn't aware existed - could be an unseemingly associated issue, but you could try the Win updates again after running it.

Someone else had found (via MS) that carrying over Office was the cause and uninstalling that resolved - but you've probably already come across these in your own search.

Also have you tried this with a clean boot ?

Before this, and after this I have tried to update it and always got the same response: The best driver software for your device is installed. It gives me that message even when "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is the driver. I tried downloading driver software from the Nvidia website and it tells me "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware".

My card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 670MX.

A:Windows 8 Nvidia : Unable to update driver software

Laptop manufacturers sometimes use custom device IDs for their onboard graphics. Driver installers from nVidia may not recognize them.

It's best to get the drivers from the laptop manufacturer, if you can. It's particularly important if your laptop uses switchable graphics.
