LENOVO L380 YOGA broken SECOND PROBLEM IN 2 MONTHS!

Q: LENOVO L380 YOGA broken SECOND PROBLEM IN 2 MONTHS!

A few weeks ago, my L380 yoga just underwent a motherboard replacement, and that took such a long time. Now, ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS SURFACED. THE TRACKPOINT ON THE LAPTOP IS BROKEN. The TrackPoint is my main input device for pointing, and without it, I struggle to use my computer effectively. I have tried checking drivers and reinstalling, but nothing worked. An external USB mouse works as well as the touchpad, but I RARELY USE THOSE AS THEY ARE INCONVENIENT.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: LENOVO L380 YOGA broken SECOND PROBLEM IN 2 MONTHS!

The TrackPoint only moves up and down, and when I move it sideways, either way, it doesn't move or skips right to the side of the screen.
If anyone has a quick fix for this please please please let me know. I need this computer to do important work, I don't want to send my computer to them and wait for who knows how long.

My lenovo l380 yoga has some kind of layer peeling off the glass touchscreen, and on the bezels as well. This is the 3rd time I've had a problem with this device in 3 months. I don't want to send my computer to the depot back AGAIN, as it took around 1 month last time, and I spent so many hours on the customer service line, trying to find out the status, and waiting for parts.Im not very sure what this is, but I don't think this is supposed to happen, and if anyone could help out, that would be appreciated. The image of the peeling is below.

As stated in the title my Trackpoint is causing my cursor to drift to the right side of the screen. It only does this whenever I physically pick up the laptop or bend the right corner of the palmrest. I've tried to rule out any software related issues by updating the OS to the latest Windows Build, updating BIOS to 1.13, drivers for UltraNav. Once I realized none of this worked I rolled the BIOS back to 1.12 and restored the unit but it is still happening. If I turn off the Trackpoint in Control Panel -> Mouse the issue stops. I do not remember this happening when I first opened it. Any idea as to what is causing it? Thanks!

Hi all,Recently, one of my friends bought a ThinkPad L380 laptop. I would say the internal speaker has improved. The bass goes deeper and treble is more extended compared to the older model
To tweak the sound:1. Right-click the photo below, save as Desktop. You may try both to see which EQ you prefer.

2. Go to Start > All Apps (All Programs) > Dolby > Dolby Audio.

3. Drag it onto the Dolby Atmos application.Do take note that if you were to connect your external speaker/headphone to the headphone jack, change the EQ to others, or off. As this EQ preset is only optimized for L380, L380 Yoga, S2 and S2 Yoga Speakers, not optimized for your external speaker/headphone.Hope you enjoy this tweaks!

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Fan-Speed-in-Y900-gaming-Desktop-Box-Becomes-loud-and-N...Well, to say this posting is frustrating is an understatement...For the nopw second time in less than 4 months, the brand new Lenovo Y900 Gaming Desktop has started to run high fan RPm and switch off at different times especially when just having general computer usage surfing the NET. The above link is to the first thread I started aboutt his problem a few motnhs ago. When it was happening the first time, I could be playing a game or just general PC use and the montior would switch off and the computer shutdown and then the fans insdie the box run at an extremely high RPM. This happened over a period of weeks sometimes several times a day. I finally bit the bullet and took it back to the store who shipped it off the Lenovo repair centre in Sydney. Despite conslusive video footage time and date stamped, lenovo repair centre reckon they couldn't find much wrong (LOL) however did say that the reasonfor the constant shutdowns would be a heatsink related issue. I was advised by Lenovo Repairs that what they did in the end was completely replace, re-seat and re-position a brand new heatsink with all new thermal paste and sent the machine back. The PC ran smoothly no isues for 6 weeks then all of a sudden 3 days ago then same thing as the first time started happenign all over again. Here I am paying $4K for a brand new gaming PC and it has now broken down twice inside 4 months. I ha... Read more

So I tried contactng Lenovo Customer service there and they say becuase i did not buy the extended warranty, they could not do anything I have to solve it with US Customer Service. In February 2015 i travelled again to USA for work, and then I tried solving my problem. Only to find out Best Buy did not recognize my purchase because I did not have the ticket and they could not look me up on the systme... that was a lie... which I beleived... So i returned to Germany with my "brick" ( that's how i call my Lenovo Yoga since then).I live in Argentina for the past 2 years, I took the brick to a couple of services (even Lenovo "official" Services in Buenos Aires) and they both said there is no solution is motherboard problem is completely dead and useless...I am in USA one more time for travel, this time in Atlanta and back in Knoxville. Hi guys, I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 last week from an online seller here in Germany. When it arrived, I did a full system check to make sure everything is working on this close to ? 1400 machine. It turns out everything except the internal microphone is working fine. Specifically, I cannot use the microphone whatsoever. I just hear a loud, static noise when I listen to the mic through the speakers. When I say something, I don't hear anything I say though, only the static.  So I tried updating all my drivers and playing around with the properties of my microphone like changing levels up to all the way down and disabling/enabling various sound effects. All this didn't resolve my issue. So I tried more invasive stuff like updating my BIOS and, as a last resort, reset Windows 10. To all avail, this also didn't resolve my issue. So I am out of answers now and suspecting that my built-in microphone has been poorly shielded or has some broken wire somewhere.  What do you guys think? I can't find anything about microphone issues on the Yoga 900 and wanted to make sure that it's in fact a hardware fault.

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 730 15" Laptop a couple months ago. I have never misused or mishandled it but tonight when switching from tablet mode to regular mode, there was a problem with the right hinge. Part of the right hinge popped off and now it seems that the screen (the glass part) is coming apart from the back of the laptop, especially when closing the computer. I don't know what to do as I am worried that further damage may occur to the computer/screen and this is a great concern as I have had it for such a short period of time. I am unsure as to what caused it to break as I was handling it quite normally but I think there may have been a problem with the hinge when it was manufactured as it was a little loose before it popped off. Thank you in advance for any help.

Bought my lenovo yoga 720 13inch from my dads friend about 6 months ago. He used the laptop for a few months and left it with my dad when he left the country. I used the laptop for a while just to check it out and fell in love with it. So i asked my dad if he could buy it from him, he agreed but his friend sold it barely below the original price as it was'nt used much. 6 months in, i'm enjoying everything about this laptop and suddenly the right hinge breaks and cracks half of the screen. I was absolutely devastated as i had no warranty and repairing it would be expensive. With much effort i convinced my dad to send it for repairs and was able to use for another month before it broke again. Money gone down the drain. After a bit of research i found out that many people had the same problem, i just feel so cheated. I'm about to go into university with no laptop and i'm doing an IT degree. My dad won't fund me as he's already paid so much for the laptop, I might have to start part time work now just to get money for a new laptop. No words can explain how dissapointed i am at lenovo as this isn't a problem caused by the customer, rather a fault with the companies engineering (you can't tell me thousands of people who've experienced the same problem are the cause of it). It's a shame because I loved everything about this laptop and believed it was worth every penny. I feel worse for my dad who has to see his hard earned money go down the drain. heres a pic of the b... Read more

The symptoms:One day when you've opened or closed the lid as you would with normal use, you here a pop and notice that the screen has separated from the lid body in one of the corners near the hinge (the screen glass may or may develop a crack a that point). If you chose to do nothing though, this problem will only get worse and, eventually, the screen glass will crack.  The problem:The root cause of the problem is the use of glue/adhesive applied by the manufacturer to keep hinge assembly attached to lid body. After a while the glue fails to hold the hinge in place and it separates from the lid. When that happens (with a pop), the hinge mounting plate (made of steel) is now moving freely between the screen and the lid so when you try to move the lid, it's pushing against the back of the screen causing screen glass to bend outward. This applies to ALL Lenovo Yoga series notebooks as their hinge design is the same and Lenovo is aware of it... but choses to do nothing. Support:Given that Lenovo designed this hinge and chose the materials and methods to assemble it, you would think that it would take the responsibility for it failing to last passed warranty. Unfortunately, no such luck. When you call support, you get nothing but denial and blame for mishandling their state-of-the-art product and causing it to fail. So you end up with a total disappointment on your hands and a bitter taste of unfairness. Repair:The hinge can be repaire... Read more

Hi, I just revieved my first lenovo product and have started trying to learn it. My SO has a pad she uses often (from wacom) and the pan that comes with it works like an eraser if you use the back end of it (where an eraser would be on a normal pen). Is the pen that comes with this computer not supposed to work like that? Dear community,  I am thinking about getting a Thinkpad L380 Yoga since I need a more portable device than my T570. I did some research and found some issues I would like to ask real users of the notebook about. It would be great if some of you may take some time to answer my questions.  Display:  My T570 got a non-glaring screen, so usually the brightness is set to the lowest (or second lowest) value. Is this also possible with the L380 or is a higher brightness necessary under normal indoor conditions? Durability:  One reviewer stated that the build quality of the L380 is not on par with other Thinkpads. Is that true? Have you experienced damages caused by daily use? Active Pen Most reviews only mentioned very basic information on the Active Pen. As I am going to use it very often, I would like to know if there are some issues with it like jitters? If there is anything else you dislike about the L380 it would be great to know. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hey! Does anyone has any idea where I can buy a new Pen for the ThinkPad L380 Yoga? Most of the Pens available are made for a diffrent model and are therefore too long to fit in the pen silo of my TP L380 Yoga. The Pen that it came with it is ~123mmThe Pens available on the internet are 219mm (so they would stick out the silo and probably break) Also: is there a way to change the mine or do I have to buy a new Pen everytime? Kind regardsQ

First thing to try is skipping the fingerprint and PIN logins and use the credentials for your Microsoft account. That should get you in, then you can reset the fingerprint and PIN Windows Hello functions.
