Preferred Solution: My 32-bit browsers and Skype are not working online but My 64-bit browser is working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: My 32-bit browsers and Skype are not working online but My 64-bit browser is working

only 64 bit browsers wiil work with 64 bit Operating sysytems....

Each of those you listed have 64 bit versions

Set up IE 8 first and get it connected to the net by going to Tool/options...hit the connections tab and fill it in.

When you install the others after fixing up IE... it will copy the connection information from IE and set up automatically.

Personally, I would stick to having just one browser...most of them do pretty much the same thing these days

Hi last night I had the most frustrating and odd problem..

My browsers stop loading ANYTHING after awhile.. It just gives me a blank page (Firefox), while on chrome it gave me 'Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed'

But here's the catch, I didn't get disconnected from either my Skype or utorrent. Even the stuff I was downloading using my Orbit downloader ARE still downloading!

My 'Network' shows that I am still connected to my wifi and shows NO sign of error.

The only way for me to 'fix' it is by restarting my laptop. But it's not even permanent.
I tried clear cache/cookies trick. didn't work, the Internet lan option too as well.

This is going to sound crazy, but here goes:

I was browsing in Chrome, and got one of those annoying ads that pops up within your current window, where you have to click "skip this ad" in the upper right hand corner.

I then got an error from adobe out of nowhere, saying "acrobat cannot open this file"

I then got an error in google chrome, something about an error in memory followed by some code, which I foolishly didn't write down, had to close chrome.

Now none of my browsers function, but the strange part is that they all fail in different ways.

Chrome just gives the "Aw snap, can't load this page" error -- won't load any page.

Firefox works for about two minutes, before pages no longer load. The little loading circle on the tab spins and spins, but nothing happens.

Safari works functionally for about five minutes, before going slower and slower, as if taking up massive amounts of memory, and if I don't close out it gets to the point that I have to restart my computer.

Additionally, I can't log in on any website requiring a log in (during my brief window of usage on firefox or safari). Facebook, gmail, or this one.

A virus scan with AVG free turned up nothing, and no strange programs are running when I look at the task manager. I've restarted multiple times and reset the router. I really don't feel like it's a virus, as I didn't download anything, nothing was installed, and just had that fla... Read more

Hello, folks!
I come to you with quite a problem.
My internet doesn't work, but only so far as browsers go.
I am on an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 7. In Normal Mode, I am able to swiftly and easily use things like Skype and even Steam; video games that go online or have an online component also seem to work, and can patch themselves or download updates. However, I absolutely cannot use any of my browsers. I have three of them installed: IE, Chrome and Firefox, and when I try to use any of them I get the same error.
My main browser is Chrome, and when I attempt to navigate to a page, the browser hangs for a little while and then displays the error, "This webpage is not available."
Sometimes I will see this error flash in the page for a split second before my default 'start' page (which really isn't a website) turns up.
All of the browsers lag. Chrome in particular says 'Loading...' for some time before it even loads the start page.
However, in Safe Mode, all of my internet functionality is present and flawless. My browsers open speedily and connect to the internet in seconds without any problems.
I am not on my home network; I am on a Verizon network at my cousins' house. Obviously the issue is not with the network, and believe me, I checked and checked and checked again to be sure of that, but I did not start having this problem until I got here and tried to log on. Initially, when I did so, I had the ... Read more

I have a Dell Precision 5510.
I have it hooked up to an external monitor using dual screen
The sound from a video on youtube (etc) works fine when the external monitor is unplugged, BUT NOT WHEN THE MONITOR IS PLUGGED IN. This confuses me.  Is there a solution?
Thank you.

A:5510: Audio from websites not working when external monitor is also hooked up. (But Skype sound still working)

Hello. What might be happening is after you connect to the external display, the audio switches to HDMI audio. To get the audio to emit from the laptop's speakers again, go to the Windows Sounds dialog and make Speakers the default playback device (right click). You might have to do this every time you connect an HDMI cable.

Our connection is a DSL one thru wifi.l We have three laptops, a week ago everything was fine then last tuesday only a SINGLE laptop was able to connect to wifi ( the one im using right now ) the weird thing is that my laptop ( one of the two laptops that cannot connect ) skype is online ( i can chat, call and view webcams ) and when we turn off the wifi for a minute and turn it back on - all three laptops can connect to the wifi but after 30mins or so an error will appear ERROR 105 and the DNS lookup failed.
Ive tried troubleshooting it thru cmd ( the ones i saw on the internet ) someworks but after an hour or so it wont work anymore.
the three laptops Mine is vista home premium and the 2 laptops are Windows 7; even phones that has wifi - Samsung, Nokia and Iphone cannot connect to the wifi also.
our firewall is turn off, no viruses etc.

Im leaning towards that the wifi ( hardware ) or the DSL provider is at fault here.

PS. A week ago and last morning my laptop informed that " the IP address is being used by another device, that we have the same IP address and that ill be experiencing connection difficulties " in what i recall.

Hi, I've ran into some problems after installing my friend's pirated Adobe software on my new desktop, resulting in my internet browser (Firefox & Internet Explorer) to work but NEVER load ANY site.

Specifically, the browsers will work again when I restart my desktop. However, as time progresses, the number of sites these browsers can access decreases significantly. For example, though in first 10 min it will load home page and say newgrounds.com, after 10 min, only loads home page, another 5 min, loads nothing. The browsers display the fact that they're trying to connect to the website, forever. I also noticed that if the certain applications such as windows media, utorrent and other adobe softwares are turned on. It takes less time for the browsers to stop working. Most often, this is an immediate effect. If you're wonder how I'm able to post this message, it's with the help of my laptop, currently free of infections. I'm positive the internet connection is working since my laptop uses the same connection. The network is set by one modem connected to one router connected to one switch which then connects to my laptop and desktop. While my laptop loads fine, my desktop doesn't.

Less often than the browser occurance are other problems such as rundll stopped working, explorer.exe not working, mouse buttons misbehaving, keyboards typing funny things.

(not sure if this is the proper place for this post.)

for a month or so, skype has started lagging EXCESSIVELY for no reason. but only when in a call. I can hear the person clearly. though it tells me that there's a connection error between us. i also can't screen share. it tells me that it can't check my subscription. but EVERYTHING lags except the audio. meaning i can't add people to the calls because the buttons don't work. i can't talk to others while in the call because the skype window is lagging. ALSO, the ringing is being weird. so i'll hit the call button, and it will sit there for about 30 seconds. the person will answer the call, then it will start ringing for those 30 seconds that it did not.

i did try reinstalling like 3 times. it didn't fix the issue. so what should i do?

I'd like to first say I do feel a bit silly posting this since I'm usually good with computers. But I literally cannot figure out the problem in this instance.

I have a Samsung laptop that runs on Windows 7, I have been trying to use Skype recently but it just won't cooperate. Skype was of course already installed and I tried using that, then after seeing that that wasn't working I decided to uninstall/reinstall Skype. I have now done this 3 times. It still won't work. To describe the problem simply, Skype will open and allow me to get to the first stages of logging in. The window opens and a box appears that would allow me to type in my username, but when I try type it in none of the letters appear and I cannot move off of this screen. I recently completely reset my laptop and cannot think of any software that would be inferring with Skype working, so if anyone has any advice I would be so so appreciative. If this is not enough information to diagnose a problem, feel free to ask for more. I really would like this fixed.

Thanks everyone!

Hi There

I'm not a techy person so be very specific. I have Windows Vista with a built-in web cam. Every time that I logged into Skype and try to connect with family and friends, I used to get a message that read something like this: "Cannot connect since there is another program opened that uses a web cam. Please close the program and try again." I don't have any programs opened.

I have programs in my desl top and not sure if they are causing the problem. They are as follows:
Cyberlink You Cam
Lightscribe System Software
Microsoft Silverlight

I tried again today but this time I did not get that message. I don't know what is going on. Also, I'm not sure if my web cam is broken. How do I check to see that my web cam is working properly or not??

My problem is aggravatingly complex. Essentially, Skype stopped working about 5 weeks ago. Skype says it's a firewall issue, but the firewall was not an issue for over a year. And even when I turn off the firewall, I still have connection problems. After long waits for support from Skype and Comodo, and repetitious suggestions that I have followed over and over, the problem is still unresolved.

It all began right after a Windows XP update. I originally thought it had something to do with that, but Skype doesn't even acknowledge the issue. Then, 2 days ago, I found this webpage that says at the bottom: "Skype might start using 100% of CPU if you have TotalRecorder software installed and it is set as default I/O device for Skype."

The problem, I don't think, has anything to do with CPU usage. But it did begin when I was trying to record an interview with Total Recorder. I'd used it before, without problems. But this time I had set TR source from Skype to microphone, then back again. So, if there's an issue with TR & cpu, maybe there are other issues as well?

Skype support doesn't acknowledge this question either.

Like I said, I've tried all the solutions they've suggested; I opened ports, I changed the name of the skype.exe file, uninstalled and reinstalled, all kinds of things. Now, I'm not sure if my firewall settings have too many rules or what. Maybe it's best to just uninstall Comodo and reinstall, or c... Read more

Hello Everyone.

I've recently installed a 3Com wireless network. Since then, Skype has stopped working. It just comes up on the taskbar as 'Skype (Connecting)'.

What do you think could be the problem? Something to do with the settings in the router? The WAN Connection Type is PPPOE. Is this right?

Any help would be much appreciated!

A:Skype Not Working. Please Help!

Well it's pretty much positive that SKYPE stopped working do to the router since it happened at the same time. It's PPPoE if you have a username and password provided to your for your Internet service from your provider.

If the cam isn't listed in Device Manager, that would indicate that it's not recognized by Windows.

not recognized = not found or not seen

So it's not connected, not connected properly, or it's faulty.

I believe it's a common problem, though I couldn't find a solution to it.

So today at the morning internet stopped working properly. I have one PC, two laptops, and two smartphones here. The PC is connected with a cable, while other devices use Wi-Fi. And they all have the same problem - only Google.com and Skype works. On every device. So I believe the problem is either at the router or at ISP. Tried to restart the router - surprisingly, everything works for a minute or so. Later - nothing. So 6 hours passed and nothing changed yet.

Oh, and I noticed that everything works fine with VPN - that's what I'm doing now.

It flickered back and forth to EasyCamera in Skype for a few seconds, as it flickered back and forth **I could seemyself from the camera for a few instants**.Then the EasyCamera disappeared from Skype and went back to black screen. I did not touch anything while it did this.I tried to reinstall EasyCamera with something called Bison but it didn't work.I used these executable files for camera updates none of them worked - LSBSetup, bcam136w8164, g3cm09ww.

Hello i am using the program skype www.skype.com and when i log into it, it automatically disconnects me from the internet and i have a cable modem and a router along with 2 pcs and an xbox.

and when i click on te program skype it automaticallylike shuts off my router or cable modem or something and it wont let me use the internet for like 2 minutes.

what could be wrong. the router i am using is the befsx41 wired linksys router and i was wondering if i need to open my ports and if i do then could you tell me how to do it for my router

A:Solved: Skype Not Working

Exactly. Check your router's manual for how to port forward to your machines.. Skype's port needs are listed here: http://www.skype.com/help/faq/technical.html

Also, it's a good idea to use static addresses on your internal network because voip is highly dependant on these addresses not changing. So if you use DHCP locally, check in your router's manual to figure out how to use static IP's instead.

X-Trap is a famous anti-cheat program, that nearly every MMORPG Publisher out there uses for their games ( Not all of them )

What happens is that for some reason, SOME people have had issues with starting Skype, As it immediatly gets closed if X-Trap Loads. And others haven´t.
This has led me to believe that it may be system related.
So my question is... What could be happening on my system, that makes Skype act like this when X-Trap Loads? Possibly sharing files with another program? Something else running on my PC? Viruses? Malware?

Both programs give me a hard time when trying to connect with video calls. They either freeze up or sign me out and then state that I am already signed in when I have clearly been logged out.
Thanks in advance for any help,

I have been using Skype for several months without any problems, until the last two times I got a call. The first time, when I tried to answer it, clicking on the green icon didn't work. Then I tried signing out and signing back in, and this time it worked. The second time, even this didn't work. Skype's help feature is useless. Has anyone had similar problems lately?

A:Skype not working properly

I tried to log in again. I could hear the other person but I couldn't see her, and she couldn't hear or see me. Every time I try to do something, I get a "not responding" message.

Hi, last night my Skype phone stopped operating, which had been OK for almost a year. I have a Sony Vaio laptop WinXP SP3. The phone is a wireless Philips VOIP321. The driver shows it's connected, and the Skype program shows all my contacts like usual as if nothing is wrong. Only thing is the antenna icon on the phone is blinking, shows that it is searching, but cannot pick up the signal. I've checked for updates, and reinstalled the Skype program, still no luck. The only thing that might have upset it, is that I created a Linux Rescue CD yesterday. I put it in my CD drive and had it boot the computer, then I removed it and booted normally. In all other ways computer is operating fine and as usual, except for Skype. Any ideas, thanks,...Tom

A:Solved: Skype not working

OK, I finally opened a bottle of wine, and after one and a half glasses, problem solved! But before that I uninstalled/ reinstalled Skype, uninstalled/ reinstalled Philips VOIP321 drivers, booted the poor machine several times, tried System Restore for the first time, successfully, I might add, still the stupid phone would not work. Then I'm thinking, I bought this Skype stuff in April of 08', wonder if the batteries on the phone are down. Well I don't have any AAA batteries on hand, I'll do the old take them out spin them around, and stick um back in. First thing that got me smiling was the little antenna icon on the phone was not blinking, yup, that was it, the darn batteries. Hopefully someone else will read this, and help them,...Tom

I updated Skype and it now fails to load. I see the little blue icon spinning but it never turns green to say I am online. I have tried installing it again and even switched my connection. The only thing that fails on this PC is Skype. I am gaming online and my connection is rock solid.

Is there a fix?

A:Internet Is Working Skype Cannot Connect

Hello? Why no help? I have tried multiple fixes and still cannot connect to Skype.

Hi all
I'm having a problem with my vista 64bit pc. The http protocol doesn't seem to be working properly all the time. Some times i can use the internet other i can't and its getting to be more and more not. However other programs like skype and windows live work okay, no problems at all.

I connect using a wired connection, although i have also tried wireless to see if that would help. I have run ad-aware, spybot and malwarebytes anti-malware, still the problem persists. I have turned off my zonealarm to see if that was stopping it somehow, nothing changed.

I usually use google chrome for the internet although i have tried firefox and IE, non work, when the internet is working its usually ok, no packet loss. then when it stops (usually after around 10 mins or so) i get 100% packet loss.

Now i know its something to do with my pc and not the router or connection as i have a laptop running xp pro that works fine on this connection.

Any help much appreciated. Its driving me absolutely nuts.

P.S. I have also tried this pc at my mums house on their internet, same problem.

My brother is desperately in need of help. His skype suddenly stopped working. When calls are made, he hears the person but the person doesn't hear him. I checked the speakers and they are fine but the microphone is not working.
The same with the inbuilt webcam. It doesn't initialise and skype doesn't recognise any webcam on the machine. Since the machine is new, I reinstalled windows 7 home thinking that the problem would be solved. But nothing happened. Here are the characteristics of the machine (from my-config.com)
