PDF Files Problem | Windows Live Messenger Problem | WMM Problem

Q: PDF Files Problem | Windows Live Messenger Problem | WMM Problem

Hi! I have a few problems with a few difference softwares. I thought it would be best open on thread with all the problems other than opening multiple different threads.
My Problems are:

1) I use mozilla firefox and i have a problem opening PDF files. When i click on a link which leads me to a PDF file, the following error message pops up.
"The adobe acrobat/ reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Wev Browser and try again."
When I use Internet Explorer, I get a similar error message.
"The adobe acrobat/ reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobet/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
This message tells me to exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader. I don't exactly know how to do that.

2) The other problem I have is with Windows Live Messenger (MSN). This messenger allows you to draw in a conversation. They have a handwriting tool. The problem I have with this tool is that when I use it to draw something, what I draw doesn't appear on the place where I am suppose to draw before sending the message. But when I click send just by drawing something with seeing what is happening on my screen, I will be able to see what I drew in the message sent part of the window. I know this is confusing but it is hard to explain. So basically, while drawing something, I can't see it but when i send it, I can see it.

3) The third problem I have is with windows movie maker. When I open this software, I get the "send" and "Don't send" error message.( I am sure you are familiar with the error message yourself). I am not sure why this is happening. I can't even ignore the message because when I click anything in windows movie maker, it freezes. When I click "Don't Send" on the error message, WMM closes down.

Thank you for taking the time to read. It would be great if you could help me with any of the problems. Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello sweeta, as i read your post, the solution that comes to mind is for you to confirm your settings in your Audio Manager. If you right click your Audio Manager which is usually located in the Taskbar, you should be able isolate and fix this issue . Hope i helped .

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.
I have a weird problem with msn where my status is changed from online, away, or busy to offline when I get an email.
So if I'm appearing online for example and then get an email, I get changed to appear offline.
I don't get signed out and the application doesn't close or anything like that.
I wouldn't normally consider this a problem, it's just that I use the video chat thing alot and if you change your status to appear offline it makes the cam go off and this just makes it a hassle having to restart the webcam conversation each time you get an email.
Any help is appreciated.

A couple of days ago my Windows Live Messenger stopped working. THe message comes up saying "Windows Live Messenger has stopped working" something about an APPCRASH? I looked around and it said I need to remove a file from my registry. I did that, it worked for a day, now it doesn't work again. Can anyone help me fix this? Thanks.

Can you just try and reinstall it?
Message & Chat Online | Download Windows Live Messenger

Just remove it from the Programs and then go to the above link. This way would be the easiest to do. This will tell you if it is a corrupt file, or another problem with your system.

Hello Everyone .

I've been running some problems with Windows Live Messenger 8.1 about few days already
If I double click on the Messenger shortcut then It won't just open ( Most of the time , but there are exceptions ) , however it appears on the task manager .
If I disable my network connection or unplug the internet cable , then Live Messenger will pop up , but when I unplug / enable the network , msn just freezes and the program seems to not respond .
I think that Msn may bein conflict with Winamp since they sometimes crash together .
I'm running Windows XP 64-Bit .

Thanks ,
Chris .

Sometimes when I try to sign onto Windows Live Messenger it only displays one or two contacts online. Then I have to log off, and sign in again and then they all show up.

This can be quite annoying at times... I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there is a fix for it?

I am using the latest version of MSN Windows Live Messenger.

Every time I try to log into Windows Live Messenger, the program crashes as soon as I click the 'sign in' button. It come up with the 'Windows live messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close' thing. I have tried re-installing it and running virus scans in safe mode and using system restore points, and all times the program would work until the computer was switched off and turned on again. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks.

It also seems that when I try to log into something on the internet with the 'Sign in automatically' box ticked, Internet Explorer also crashes with the same error message (when signing into hotmail.com for instance). Perhaps this will shed some light on the matter. I believe all this may be because of a file I downloaded that was posing as something else; yes I know, how careless of me.

I'm using Windows Live Messenger version 8.0.0812 . I did Re-Install version 8.0.0812 from my computer because it was running slow but I had a problem with my contacts so I had to install the live messenger version again. My problem is, before I do all this kind with uninstall and install, my contacts were shown perfect, but now when somebody adds me, or when I add some person, he's succesful on my list but I can't see him online. I mean I saw his e-mail in my list, but he's always offline. And sometimes when some of them talking to me, they are still offline in my andress list, and there's an option on the top saying Click here to add him/her now or something like that, when I hit nothing else happens and the contact is still offline. Does it matter because I have in total 1268 contacts? Please somebody let me know!

My daughter received an IM from a friend and it was a website which she clicked on. In turn people have been getting this IM from my daughter now and she has no control over it. We were wondering what needs to be done so these people quit getting this IM from her. The steps that happen are: 1. It will show that my daughter "Becky" has signed in on her computer (which she hasn't) then shortly after there will be an IM on the bottom of the screen that says Becky conversation. When you click on it the IM is a website. Becky's grandmother gets 3-4 of these from Becky a day. We have tried taking Windows live off our computer but the grandmother and other people still get the IM messages. Do we have those people block my daughter? And if they do, when they unblock her after awhile will these start up again? They are just ignoring the IM messages but it gets very annoying.

A:Windows Live Messenger problem

this is a common problem whilst using msn. it's a virus that works in a similar fashion to those annoying chain mails. once the link is opens it uploads itself and then sends itself automatically to everyone on your contact list.

Try running antivirus/spyware software to see if it can be removed that way.

Hey guys,

Im having a problem with the windows live offline messaging feature. It seems that I can initiate conversations fine, and people can respond. However, if the person waits about 1 min after the last thing I said, they wont be able to send me messages anymore. I have to say something to them, and then it seems like everything resets back to normal (unless they of course wait a while before responding).

Any ideas?

Hello everyone ! My cousin is a child, and she's been using internet over one year...Without an antivirus ! Now I installed NOD32 in her pc, it had some viruses, including a big one in the Windows memory. Now it seems like there are no more viruses in the pc. There is still a problem, when I launch Windows Live Messenger in her pc, I just can make the procedure until I find the contact list. Then, I get a blue screen error message, starting by this :

*** stop : 0x000007f

and some other characters (I had copied the hole characters in a paper but she lost it...) If needed I can copy the whole thing again and put it here, but it takes several times for the pc to restart just after that happened

So can anyone of you help me please ? Thanks in advance !

Hi there

I was chatting to family tonight on MSN and out of nowhere came a file about a new hairdo which I unwittingly clicked on as it could have been real!!! Little did I know it would cause problems!! During the conversation it just said, what do you think of my new hairdo? and there was a file attachment myphoto13.jpeg attached to it, it didn't open so I unblocked it, how stupid am I?? And since then the problem seems to have infected all my buddies on the list with requests for downloading cute pics etc. I've searched the net for solutions but can't find the answer to it. I'm going to run a virus scan overnight the adaware programmes haven't found anything in particular which solves it and my Norton antivirus is up to date. Sorry the post is long but it does say to give a description of the problem and post the log. Helllppppp please.

Well just YESTERDAY i was watching a movie on my Divx Player and it prompts me to download an update. i do so.
so afterwards, i exited msn so it doesnt make a loud sound when someone comes online.
When my movie was finished i tried to open msn again, but it did not open; however, it is displayed in the process tray.
I tried to reinstall it, system restore to previous days, restart computer and try again, but it did not work.
When windows restarts and everything loads (msn on startup with windows) when the internet connects msn freezes and never unfreezes; forces me to force exit msn.
WHen i take msn off the startup and load it by myself after everything has loaded (internet, anti virus) it does not show up, but is in process tray.

Any helps?
ive modified a lot of misconfig stuff, deleted all uneccessary programs i am not using, done a virus scan using AntiVir and a spyware scan with ad ware, i also deleted divx as well as anything that deals with it

Hello all!
Yesterday, I was chatting at MSN, watching a movie and tried to connect my mobile to the PC via USB when I got a BSOD.

When I opened the pc, I opened MSN and clicked "Sign In" but in less than a second I got the same window of again ( the one you get when you run MSN ).

What can I do?

I might have to unistall it and install it again.
I also have installed Windows Mail ( the one that comes with the messenger) and MSN Plus.
My version of MSN is the latest.

If I have to unistall what are the exact steps to do so that I won't lose any content, such as contacts, received files, saved conversations and all the emails?
Generally. If I unistall it, is there any chance that it will delete any content I need?
I have Windows XP Professional Sp3.

Thank you for your time!

It does not show any of my other contacts.

I must stress it is NOT saying all my contacts are offline, it simply does not show any of them, only the offline box with 1 contact in it. Anyone know what the problem is? Id appreciate any help. cheers!

However yesterday I installed the new 2011 version of WLM, which I did not like. So I wen't to download WLM 2009 (version 14) again, BUT the builds that I've downloaded doesn't allow me to videochat with my friend with the 8.5 version.

To make the problem even worse, when I try to run wlsetup-custom.exe I get THIS error. The only thing that works to install is wlsetup-ALL.exe, BUT I can't find the right build. I've tried both 14.0.8089 and 14.0.8117, but none of them is the right build.

So I need wlsetup-all.exe for version 14, but NOT those 2 builds (might be more that doesn't work)
OR a way to fix the oncatalogresult 0x80072ee6 error.

I hope you understand what I'm writing, english is not my main language and the problem is a bit complicated as stated earlier.

Do a system restore , that is the easiest option I would say

Start> run> msconfig
Click on Launch system restore. bottom of that page
Choose a date in bold eg yesterday before you downloaded the new messenger
then follow the prompts
hope this helps

First off sorry for wrong section, really had no clue where to make this thread.

Ok i use to have xp and it had the same problem on there to, now i have win7 and it still has the same problem.

What the problem is : well my Windows live messenger is updated to the most recent one. (version 2009 (build 13.0.8089.726) Sometimes when im chatting to people they don't get the message that i send. for example after like 1 hour of chatting. " wanna play a game now?" then about 10 mins later i say "well" and he says he didn't receive my message. Been happing to all my friends that i chat and i don't get this as well when he didn't get the msg " message could not be delivered" which is a good thing because we all hate that lol.

What ive tried to solve it.:
Scanned computer and its clean also it should be clean because i installed a full install of windows 7 which completely format my comp.

I've tried installed and downloaded a new wlm and installed it.

So the main problem is that my contacts arnt getting my message sometimes. Something to do with my router?

Thanks in advance!

Happens to me, and to everyone using messenger some times, I guess it's an issue from the Messenger Service more than a problem with your pc.

You may or may not be aware of a new update for Windows Live Messenger. Ever since I accepted the forced update (it was compulsory) I have been unable to log in. I keep getting the following error:-

Error 80072efd: You cannot sign in to Windows Live Messenger

You may not be able to sign in because of problems with your firewall(A security feature designed to help protect a computer from unauthorized external access. It can be hardware, software, or both.) or proxy settings. Visit another website to confirm that you're connected to the Internet. If you are connected, check your firewall settings and adjust your proxy settings:

Also, since the update (which originally ran automatically) I have been unable to use the Windows Live installer to try again. I keep getting this message:-

Check to be sure you are connected to the internet.

I have checked my windows firewall and and it allows Windows Live Media and I AM connected to the internet. I use firefox and am browsing sites as normal. Windows Internet Explorer 8 doesn't seem to be bringing up any web pages though. I updated from Explorer 7 to 8, but even 7 wasn't displaying web pages. Does this have anything to do with it? Also, when I get the option to 'troubleshoot' the problem on WLM I am presented with the following:-

If anyone can help I would be grateful. I never thought something as simple as an msn update (forced or not) would cause such both... Read more

Download a new copy from Windows Downloads uninstall your present one from your Add/Remove programs list and install the new one. That is probably your best bet.

I have just upgraded from the RC of Win 7 to the full Retail Ultimate and I used Easy Transfer to transfer my programs, data etc (big mistake). This has caused numerous problems for me but this one seems to be bugging me the most. I was getting an error whenever I attempted to sign into WLM so i decided I would simply reinstall..but now every time I run the installer I get an error (hr:0x80070643). I have tried literally anything I have found on the net to try and fix this to no avail. There is also some more error info on the screen so I took a screenshot to show you * attached*. Someone please give me a solution, so i don't have to go through the trouble of reformatting.

I am afraid that may be your only option. Even if you fix this, more bugs and problems will come up, so making a fresh Clean install is the best solution.
