I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Using IE8 on Windows 7 Pro on my laptop, I am able to login to the control panel of my Web site (hosted by Siteground, if that's significant) but on my desktop computer, with the same software, I can't. Siteground had me run a PING and a TRACERT and concluded that everything is just dandy and told me to find a "local computer technician" to solve this problem. The desktop is brand new (just a few days old) so I'm relatively confident that it has to do with a software setting somewhere as opposed to, for example, a blocked 443 port at the router. I experience the same problem in Firefox so I'm guessing the software issue isn't with IE8 specifically. Help?!

A:Can't login to https site

add the site to "trusted" sites. Then check your IE settings to make sure you're using SSL 2.0 and or 3.0

Hi.
I'm currently having trouble opening https://login.microsoftonline.com on a Windows Server 2016 running IE11.1198.14393.0 (Update version: 11.0.42, KB4018271). It displays a limited page with the text "It looks like you're on a slow connection. We've
disabled some images to speed things up."
Some troubleshooting reveals that IE is unable to load a script:
SCRIPT5022: Failed to load external resource ['https://secure.aadcdn.microsoftonline-p.com/ests/2.1.5975.9/content/cdnbundles/jquery.1.11.min.js']
If I try to open this URL/script directly I only get a "This page can?t be displayed" and the developers console shows that dnserror.-htm has been loaded.
I've also tried opening the file using http (not https) which also works. Upon finding that out I tried enabling/disabling different SSL/TLS options. When disabling SSL3.0 and TLS1.0 I get a different response, "Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in
Advanced settings"
All updates have been applied on Windows. I've tried resetting IE both clearing history, cookies, temp files and using the reset button under the Advanced tab. I have also re-installed IE using this command:
dism /online /disable-feature:"Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64"
Everything works in Chrome by the way. The reason why I don't just stick to Chrome is that I use this server as an admin point and run powershell scripts that are using both my domain admin, and Office365/ExchangeOnline credentials.

I cannot access the Plesk login page to get into my website's control panel.
Here's what I've tried: disabling firewall & antivirus, using 3 different browsers (Avant, Firefox, IE), rebooting, clearing cache. I'm running windows XP on a new HP laptop and have WiFi. My ISP and webhost both say it's not them. Desperate for help! I keep getting the "page cannot be displayed/ you are not connected to the internet/may have typed the wrong address/ timed out" messages. I can get to other https login pages/sites with no problem. But this one just will not open. I can get to the "default plesk page" which offers no login but that's it.
Thanks for any help!

For the last month i'm having login problems. For some reason reCAPTCHA fails to connect to google.com, and im not able to log into youtube/gmail(can't find accounts.google.com) or hotmail.com. Random sites like Rainbow Six Siege forums don't work properly either. And the biggest one is not being able to log into my bank account.

I have asserted to at least be a local problem with my PC since mobile and other laptops on the same network work fine. Of another post I tried to run SFC /runnow ill post the log as an attachment.

It also says that some internet protocols are missing and could not be fixed, this is to general for me to follow up though could support the idea that something is wrong with the HTTPS protocol.

I tried this tutorial to re-register dll files: (Solved) Cannot Access Secure Sites - Https websites not opening View
wintrust.dll gives a DllRegisterServer Failed with error code 0x80070005
initpki.dll is missing
gpkcsp.dll is missing as wel.
Didn't try more from that tutorial seeing as it probably wouldn't work from this point onwards.

This problem has been going on since the start of December and since my internet connection is shared, I thought it would be a local internet problem, but it seems not to be.

I tried reinstalling windows from scratch and the problem persists.

A:General login problems, might be HTTPS protocol

I feel like I know what the culprit was that did this. I have been using IObit programs for a while, though they never did something wrong, maybe that in combination with the new update screwed up some DLLs. Will try a reinstall to recreate the problem.

Hello,

I am unable to access Sign in to your Microsoft account on my desktop computer running Windows 10 on a home Ethernet network using Edge and IE11. I am connected to the Internet through a Fritz!Box 7490 DSL connection.

I originally tried to solve this problem as a network issue - and it may still turn out to be one - but since I am able to log in to my live.com account using Google Chrome on this computer and from Linux and OS X machines on the network, I am now looking at the possibility that it is some setting shared by Edge and IE11 that is causing my problem.

A secondary effect of this problem is that I am unable to activate Office 365 products, because once I enter my account email address, the activation process wants to take me to live.com to confirm my subscription.

I have seen a number of posts on this and other sites about the "Hmm..." messages, and that's the message I am shown when I try to access login.live.com. Since, in all of the other posts, the issue was a complete inability of Edge to access the sites, this seems to me to be something different. Thus, I started a new thread rather than add to one of the others.

I will be grateful for any and all suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Cheers,
hussar

When using IE 11 everybody in my organization who tries to do their time-cards ( https://online.adp.com/portal/login.html ) gets a certificate error that the certificate authority isn't valid. This happens to everyone who uses IE. Some people get
around it with Chrome. Others get the same error using Chrome. It doesn't happen ever in Firefox. Searching hasn't yielded any useful results. I did try checking all the boxes (with and without "Preserve Favorites Website Data checked) in the Delete Browsing
History dialogue. I've ensured that *.adp.com is in my trusted sites. I have tried proxies. This does not occur with any other HTTPS site that I'm aware of. Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys and gals,

New to this forum, so I hope it the right place for and way of explaining this problem.

I just bought my first PC, which is pretty awesome after having worked on laptops for years.
Here is the configuration:
- i7 4790K
- MSI Z97 Gaming 5
- MSI GTX 980
- Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 16GB 1600 MHz CL9
- Corsair RM750
- Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD

This is also my first system with Windows 8.

Now here is the problem:
After installing my favorite browser Firefox, for some reason it won't load google.com properly.
It automatically tries to load the https version of google, which makes sense.
But it gives my the "Untrusted connection error" (but then in Dutch, so I hope it is correctly translated).
When I delete the "s" and try http it loads fine, but then my search results are different from my laptop with Windows 7 and only the categories "Web" and "Images" are shown.
The same happens in Internet Explorer.

I have tried the solutions as described on the Mozilla support pages, but without any luck.

I hope someone on this forum can help me out.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

T

Firefox keeps asking me for the proxy username and password - on every page, often multiple times.

I've just installed firefox on a WinXP laptop and plugged it into a university LAN. The set up is all pretty default, you know: 8080, exceptions for local addresses and so on. The connection seems fine, and IE (finally) seems to be okay, even downloading from Windows Update, which was a real pain to get to work, but that's another story.

When I start up a browser, I have to give a username and password for the proxy: same when I download something or run an Active X control. This isn't too bad. But on Firefox, on this machine, asks me for a username and password for every single page. Just once for a very simple page with no graphics or Javascript, and several times if there are multiple items on the page: I have to login 5 times before it will show Google. This is really annoying - as you can imagine.

Also, the Add-ons and the extensions for firefox won't down load, but set off a dialog saying that it can't install because of download error -228. According to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_...oad_Error_-228 this may be due to a firewall or spybot incompatibility. I've got Trend Micro Office Scan client on the machine, and this works with a server on the university's server, as I understand it , if that makes any sense - I downloaded it from the IT department's antivirus page.

Source--------- http://www.ghacks.net/2014/10/31/avasts-https-scanning-interferes-with-firefox-and-other-programs/
Avast released its 2015 lineup recently and one of the new features that all of its antivirus programs ship with is HTTPS Scanning.

It enables the program to detect and decrypt protected traffic using its web filtering component. This alone is highly problematic considering that the program is tapping right into protected data streams but the current implementation is causing all kinds of issues on top of that.

Firefox users for example may notice that the browser won't close anymore because of Avast's HTTPS Scanning feature. This may not happen all the time when Firefox is closed but users reported that it is happening frequently.

That's however not the only issue that Firefox users may experience if Avast is installed on the computer system the browser is running on.

Firefox's add-on update check may be blocked by the security software as well.

The Mozilla Firefox web browser is not the only program that is affected by issues though. Spotify's Web Player may not be able to connect to Spotify for example with Avast 2015 running on the system.

That is OK with me as i do not like Avast anyway.

I've had a strange issue that may have been caused by upgrading to Noscript 5.1.6. I closed my Firefox earlier today and shortly afterwards re-opened it, with the notification that Noscript had updated. However I found that many other websites had become inaccessible. Paypal.com brought up a screen with a message like "found, return to gb/home", www.bbc.co.uk gave a "301 moved permanently" message, and many other websites only opened as blank pages. Closing and re-opening the browser several times did not fix the problem. My first suspicion was that Noscript's update had caused an issue, so I disabled it, which fixed the issue immediately. After re-enabling it there was still no problem.

In retrospect the URLs I was using were missing the "HTTPS" prefix that is automatically added (my link to "www.bbc.co.uk" ordinarily sends me to "https://www.bbc.co.uk/", "paypal.com" to "https://www.paypal.com/gb/home", etc), which makes me wonder if there was an issue with redirects.
Oddly, one website that loaded fine when all others I tried failed - https://www.redlettermedia.com/ - now returns a "Secure Connection Failed" message - "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length." Notably, this also happens when I try and access it on my phone, outside of my home network.

I've run a scan with MBAM for good measure, which turned up nothing. The problem appears to be fixed apart from that one website; can anyone shed some light as to what may have happene... Read more

Hi all;

I have an odd issue with Firefox & Windows 10, with accessing HTTPS websites.
The sites are very very slow to load and others do not complete the load cycle.
I've had this issue for months now.

Just tried the newly released Firefox v50 ... same issues.
Also use Portable-Firefox:
-On the Windows 10 pc = https sites load very slow.
-If I move to my other PC (using Vista), all sites load fine. Without any changes to my Portable-Firefox setup.

When I use Microsoft's Edge browser all sites load fine.

There seems to be a conflict between the Toshiba Laptop, Windows 10 & Firefox in loading HTTPS websites very slowly.

This is what I have tried so far in relation to Windows 10:

-Changed Proxy settings (within Firefox) to each setting
-Flushed DNS cache
-Checked HOSTS file for any entries to those websites
-Removed entries from Windows Firewall
-Disabled Firewall and Anti-Virus
-Checked for Malware,Spyware,etc,etc
-Booted into Windows 10 SafeMode-Network Enabled
My head is getting sore now. Any suggestions

As I mentioned my Portable-Firefox installation works fine on other pcs, including Windows 10 versions, but not on this system (Toshiba laptop & Windows 10). Though MS Edge browser works perfectly fine.
Some of the https sites:

Hello out there,

I have searched long and hard for anybody else that is having same problems, and found some people do have the same problem, but ive tried their solutions to no avail.

I have recently installed zonealarm, hoping it might fix the problm, but it has not.I cant even conect BitComet,or Skype, yet i have no problem accessing my e-mails from incredimail.
Also, for some reason when i am in explorer, and accessing websites,i cant open anything in a new tab,it just opens a blank page, and my Dial-up Connection box keeps flashing on and of the screen until the site is loaded.

Ive tried playing around with my network settings, but i only have the 1 pc,and i have a D-Link DSL-200 ADSL Modem attached, but no other computers.

Ive tried turning the XP Firewall off,but stil have same problems.
As you can probably understand,I am at my wits end.

Hey guys.

First of all let me apologize for putting this in the XP forum. I'm tired and frustrated after trying all day to fix this problem so I'm desperate now and figured I'd get a quicker reply here. Also not sure if it's exclusively a problem with my connection/browsers.

Okay so my problem is that out of the blue google chrome stopped viewing pages. I get "Error 102" when I try to view a page. The annoying thing is it appears that Chrome isn't even attempting to load anything it just instantly displays this error. It was working literally 5 minutes before this error first appeared. I was using Firefox at the same time (I have different passwords saved for different sites on different browsers) so I have no idea if viewing something on FF could of caused this.

What I've tried so far:

- Making sure I have "automatically detect settings" enabled in every browser while making sure "use a proxy" is disabled.

- Disabling all anti virus/firewall software and making sure Chrome is a trusted application.

- Uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it

- Making sure nothing appears to be blocked router wise

- Checking and resetting hosts file

- Releasing and renewing IP

- Make sure SSL and T-something is enabled in browser settings

- Currently running a Malware scan with MalwareBytes but surely any malware would simply change my browsers proxy settings which I've already checked.

I can browse normal pages on Firefox but when I try to view HTTPS s... Read more

Hello,

I've been a Firefox user for some time now. Recently it's started giving me a lot of issues. More frequent crashes, slow response, etc.

The real reason for this email though is that suddenly It's started to have a stange error when I try to login to my gmail account. I enter my info, see the "loading..." tag displayed, and then get a pop up that says:

"the file /mail/?pageview&name" followed by a long string of alphanumeric randomness.

At this point the process is over, and I can go no further.

Am I going to have to uninstall Firefox and start from scratch? I'd like to avoid that because I've already got the plugins I like and would be unamused to have to re-do all that.

Thanks for any help.
***FIX**

This was an issue with the cache. Apparently gmail is very sentitive to some info in the cache.

In my case, I had to empty the cache 4 times in Firefox to resolve the problem.

Firefox cache can be emptied under 'tools', 'options', click the '+' sign beside cache and 'clear'.

If this does not work repeat several times.

Start > Run > "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p (note that there is a space before -p. This will bring up the profile manager. However, if you would like to set up a permanant profile manager, you can do so, which will allow you to set up different profiles so each user has their own preferences, ect.

I've known of several people that this has happened to. Seems to be a glitch in the program related to the Profile Manager. The profile manager as an option you can set up doesn't really seem to be known much or to be mentioned much on the Firefox website. Don't know why, as I find it very useful since my daughter and I have completely different tastes in browser looks and website favorites.

Anyway, once you set up the profile manager, you can then see all the "profiles" that are created. Your default profile should still be in there and you can switch it back to that one. You can delete the new one you just created, too.

Okay, here are the instructions for creating a profile manager which will let you switch back and forth between profiles.

First, click on your existing firefox desktop icon and create a second desktop icon from it and name it "Profile Manager."

Then, open that icon and click on "properties>Shortcut tab>"Target" field. In the target field, make the path read like this: "C:\Program Files\firefox\firefox.exe" -p. Now click Apply>OK>launch Firefox>follow... Read more

Hello,

I just installed Firefox and I have an issue with auto log in.

I have logged in to a website and asked Firefox to save the user and pass.

If I close Firefox and re-open it, the website is not logged in BUT if I press the log in button the fields (user and pass) are already filled with the correct info.

Is there a way to have it auto log in? I mean, not logging out at all.

In the privacy settings I have set History to use custom settings and selected:

Remember my browsing and dl history
Remember search and form history
Accept cookies from sites
--Accept third party cookis: Always
--Keep untl: I close firefox
Clear history when Firefox closes.

Furthermore I have set an exception of the cookies for the website I want to stay logged in.

In the additional settings (located after clear history when Firefox closes) in the History part I have them all checked except Active Logins and Cookies. In the Data part I have nothing checked.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

You've set Firefox to clear cookies when you exit Firefox so obviously it will not keep your login cookie. Not sure why you always accept third party cookies.

Some login cookies for some sites may not persist or may expitre when you leave the site anyway.

EDIT:

Just have a look at cookies that are kept when you re-lauch Firefox. Any cookies left?

I tried logging into my yahoo account, and it kept freezing whenever I clicked the inbox folder button. So I thought it would be adware or malware, so I used spybot and ad-aware and they both told me it was an IE hijacker. And I deleted it, but the problem still happens. And it isn't only with Yahoo. Anything I try to log into freezes. I was lucky I could even log into these forums. If anyone has had this problem please tell me how you got rid of the problem without having to reinstall Windows XP (that's my last option but first idea). Please help me...

Please download HijackThis. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Post the whole log file here. Do not fix anything since most of them listed there are harmless (some are system required). This program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.

In Firefox 2.0.0.20 (the latest version that will work in WinMe), the username and password for Virgin WEBMAIL is prompted, but the identical information for an identical login form for Virgin Broadband USAGE is NOT prompted; and the settings for REMEMBERING the login details are ineffective FOR THIS SITE. I have tracked differences between these sites to differences in 'Page Info' in Firefox's Tools menu, but I cannot change the Page Info for USAGE to be the same as for WEBMAIL.
I have failed to trigger login details prompting by 'artificially' adding them to the stored passwords list. Can someone help me make Firefox prompt the login details for Usage as it does for Webmail ?

Do you have cookies enabled?

Check in Tools>Options>"Privacy" and have Java and JS enabled in "Content".

Also make sure its also not in the blocked sites there. You may want to put it in "Exceptions", and put the site in there. It can help.

See if that helps.

Hi

i recently recovered a few files from my Hard Drive,(They are not relevant to Firefox) It was after this, i realised that my sessions were not being saved. For example on Google, my password and email are saved and i have the " Remember me on this computer" option checked. After logging in, i close Firefox and re-open, yet i have to login again.

This happens with every website where i have my user/pass stored. (Sites such as Gamefaq, Digg, IGN, IMDB etc.)

What seems to be the problem? I have already asked in the main Firefox forums, but no reply.

When was the last time that you cleared your cache and cookies? This can solve a lot of problems. Also, when you do that make sure that authenticated sessions is checked. That can cause a problem.

Hi,
do exist a Firefox command that allow auto login?
When I enter in a site that ask user name and password, I wish that the program put automatically this information (it already do this when saving the password) and enter.
The result is that when I connect to the site for autentication, automatically do it, as saving cookie but some web site cancel cookie after short time.
I have already tested with failure AutoAuth, Autologin, LoginManager, Secure Login and Selenium.
Is there a solution to the snag?
Thanks

The following menu item should be ticked 'on':

"Edit/Preferences/Security/"Remember Passwords"."

I am helping a friend on her new Vista PC. The normal setup is fine using IE as web browser and the vista email that is setup and her email is working fine. She prefers to use Mozilla Firefox as her web browser so downloaded it and installed fine. When clicking on the email icon on her Verizon toolbar in Firefox, it asked for username and password but says "incorrect username /password". The email works fine when using IE and clicking on same email icon in the toolbar but not from Firefox. Also clicking on the email icon from desktop also works fine but some reason when accessing the email from the icon on the Firefox browser it still says "incorrect login info". During the initial Firefox install/setup it completed all of the standard import functions during setup fine. Why does the email login info not work from Firefox browser/verizon toolbar icon but works fine from IE email icon?

A:Vista email login error using Firefox

I have had the same problem with Firefox remembering my login information in Vista. The XP operating system is fine the problem is only with Microsoft's Vista operating system. It probably has something to do with Vista's security setup, either that or Microsoft is just kicking the competition around? Actually it's probably a little bit of both those reasons.

The only way I have been able to correct the problem is to download the IE Tab add-on. It allows you to set up a tab to open with the IE engine embedded. If you have a site that is giving you login problems, when it is open select the tools button. In the dropdown box select the IE Tab Options. The problem web site should be highlighted in the pop-up display box. Select the add button to the right and it will transfer the web site to the list of sites that you want to open with the IE operating engine.

Now that web site will always open under the IE operating engine when you start up Firefox. After you login to that web site if you go back to the tools button and select options again, you can save all opened tabs as your home page. Now when you start up Firefox you will still have all the advantages of Firefox and those hard to login web sites will automatically load and sign you in the same as they did before.

Someday Microsoft will probably stop teasing Firefox and let them in on what they have to do to get around this obstacle, but then again maybe not.

Hint: Two Firefox add-ons: HTTPS-Everywhere and Force-TLS.

Like HTTPS Everywhere, the Force-TLS Firefox extension allows your browser to change HTTP to HTTPS on sites that you indicate in the Firefox Add On Preferences menu, protecting your login information and ensuring a secure connection when you access social sites.

These extensions will protect your user information on an insecure open Wifi network when accessed by malware that targets user login access info for almost every single social network in existence.

HTTPS encrypts user data so it cant be read. Force-TLS forces a number of sites to make all of their requests over an SSL secured channel and while some sites, like Amazon, dont currently have the secure option, the majors like Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc all allow a HTTPS connection.

Note: Amazon does have secure (HTTPS) ordering to protect your credit card data as soon as you checkout during an order.

Note: I paraphrased most of the information in this article from a website that also reveals too much information to post - so, you get just what you need to be more secure.

there was recently a thread about this, but it didn't help. On EVERY site I go on, including this, and other forums, hotmail, youtube etc, it forgets all my login info even if I click "remember" the next time I load firefox up. It's got nothing to do with my privacy options. When I go to the privacy tab, it hasn't got cookies checked, it hasn't got clear private data checked. In the security tab it's got remember password for sites checked, and EVERYTHING else in the options is fine. Yet it still insists on making me type everything in all the time, and as all I do on the net is go on forums and youtube, it's very annoying.

Thanks in advance.
