I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Would like to know how to transfer my playlists to my ipod, each playlist contains approx.
20 songs and there are about 20 playlists. Tried different ways of doing this , not succcesful
Thank You !

A:Songs/Playlists from windows media xp to ipod

Well.... if it's an iPod... then you have to have iTunes to load anything to the iPod. At least that is the only method so far that I found that works. Once you have iTunes.... then import the files you want to the iTune library and then select the song/files you want on your iPod and then sync the iPod with the selected songs from your iTune library. The next thing you ought to do is trash the iPod and get and mp3 player (just teasing you... take no offense )

I use WMP 11 in XP Pro, to put music onto my MP3 player.

I loaded in a variety of albums, each containing a number of songs.

When I then create playlists, I had assumed that the playlists would use the existing files that were already loaded in via the albums.

But the playlists reload those files, resulting is using up storage space that I don't believe should be needed.

How can I create playlists which will use the existing album music files already in storage?

I must be doing something wrong.

A:Windows Media Player 11 re playlists

How have you been trying to make the playlists?

If you press the library tab, you should see a pane on the right with 'untitled playlist' at the top. Then drag the files you want from the list in the middle and drop them into the playlist pane. Then press save playlist at the bottom.

If you dont see the 'untitled playlist' section on the right, look in the top left and you will see a line that says create playlist. Click on this, name it what you want, and it will come up on the right.

Hope this helps.

hey, i use windows XP and i spent a few hours making some smart playlists in iTunes for my ipods. i was wondering, is it at all possible to put those playlists in windows media player? i have another mp3 player (not iPod) that i would like to use with my smart playlists in iTunes. is there some way to convert the i Tunes playlist to a Windows Media Player friendly format, or find a music manager that will sync both iPods and non-iPods (possibly with a feature that could save/handle my playlists that i worked so hard on). thanks for your help

Windows Media Player has suddenly stopped responded when I click on any playlists, or if I attempt to edit an existing auto-playlist. Library links are still working. I've tried removing and reinstalling the program, and restoring the system to a date when it was working, all to no avail. No error message, nothing except highlighting the name of the playlist. Any ideas?

When I burn CDs I like to print a CD label with the song list.

Does anyone know a way to copy or export a playlist from Windows Media Player v9 so that I don't have to retype the song titles?

I know how to export the playlist to a wpl file. The problem is that Word and other editors don't seem to be able to read .wpl

I'm trying to get the track titles into a format that can be edited and formated to be printed on a CD label.

Secondly, when i create a playlist and and drag mp3s from a folder into that playlist is there no way to sync that playlist so that when i update the folder with a new MP3, the MP3 gets added to the playlist in WMP12 aswell?

Does anybody know a way to get Media Player to display a count of the number of songs in the library?  That was one of the few features of iTunes that I liked.  I'm running WMP 12.0 under Win 7.  Thanks.

A:Windows Media Player 12 - Count Songs

First, make sure that the list of songs is focused by selecting a single song. Then press Ctrl+A to select all songs in the list. WMP should then briefly show the total song count and duration in the lower right corner.Tim De Baets

This subject was discussed starting in October of 2010 between danfordan and longhair but it didn't seem to come to a conclusion. The original writer said he was having trouble using CD-RW's. I am having trouble using regular cd-r's. My system numbers are listed below. The first time I used the Windows Media Player to make a CD everything went great. I loaded the CD, dragged the four files containg 25 songs in each and made a great data cd with 100 oldies. When I tried to do it again a few days later to make a copy for a friend, the files were burned in the following order.....1,2,3,4,1,2,4,3 and I had 200 songs on the CD, 100 songs TWICE! Thinking this was a fluke, I tried it again using a different file. I used 279 different oldies totalling 660 mb's. When I burned it, all songs came up twice again. First of all, why is it burning twice and secondly, how does 660 mb's burn twice on a 700 mb cd-r???
Thanks, Bobbyob

Well folks, not sure what I did, but I managed to duplicate all the songs in my Windows 7 Media Player. I have a three week old laptop with Windows 7; really struggling with file management and layout in "libraries", that is, easily accessing my music, some guitar software files, etc.; somehow I installed my music folder onto the WMP again . Anyone know how I can reverse this situation, so I don't have to go through every album and delete? Also, I have "test deleted" a couple of songs from the WMP library, and they are also deleted from the original file. I have selected "delete from library only" from the manage menu, but they appear to have disappeared completely. Baby steps please, as Windows 7 has me really spooked... I miss XP! Thanks to all in advance.

A:duplicate songs in Windows 7 Media Player

Thanks for your suggestion! I did find the problem, I had a duplicate music folder (all my songs) within the original music folder containing all my songs. Once I deleted the original file, the duplicate songs in the library disappeared. I suspect I may have inadvertently dragged it in there, as I have a very sensitive touch pad, and I am still getting used to it (always been a mouse guy). Have been using the tutorials on the Microsoft site, and that has also been helpful. Thanks again for trying to help!

Anyways here's my first question
I want to be able to play my Ipod songs on Windows Media Player. Even though I was able to when I opened the Ipod Control/Music Folder, the songs are out of order and labeled with these weird letters and numbers.
So how can my ipod songs be labeled and organized(like they are itunes) in order play them on the Windows Media Player?
I'd deeply appreciate the feedback.

Hi everyone. My Windows Media Player (not sure which version it is but I have Windows Vista and the most recent version of Windows Media Player) skips towards the end of songs. They are .wma files. I tried Windows Update like the help file recommended but Windows is already up to date. Also, I don't believe the files are corrupted because they played fine on my old computer and WMP is doing this to all of my music files. I tried searching the knowledge base at Microsoft but to no avail. Please help.

I burned a disk of various songs with Windows Media Player, and then removed the songs from the computer. I would now like to put those songs BACK on my computer (using Windows Media Player) so I could put some on my mp3 player. However, when I open Windows Media Player and put the disk in the drive, I am not given the option to rip the songs. That option just doesn't appear. Oddly enough, a list of the songs on the disk appears on the right in the "list" area so the disk is being read. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a new Cowon S9 Portable Media Player, and the software provided for me to update it with new music (which was JetAudio) will not correctly play MP3 files that have been burnt onto the system from a CD. The CD's are obviously legit and will play perfectly in iTunes and work on an iPod no problem. But the case is for JetAudio and Windows Media Player the files do not even show up in the player library and if dragged and dropped straight into the file path of the Cowon MP3 player's memory, this has the same result and no mp3 files will show. Does anyone know why this may be?

I d/l some songs that were playing just fine on WMP for a while until I tried to install Yahoo Music Engine. YME didn't completely install because it encountered some sort of problem. Now when I try to play them on WMP, it says it needs a security update, but then encounters error code 800C2F78. The Microsoft Web site only says it's investigating the problem, it's not on it's list of common error codes. We're talking about a lot of songs that I paid a buck apiece for. The songs that I ripped from CDs play just fine, it's only the ones I d/l.

Based on my research, .m4p files are also not supported by Windows Media Player.

However, if you would like to play these music in Windows Media Player, you may use certain applications to convert the files to .mp3 and check if it works.

Hi all - Windows Media Player 12 - Windows 7 x64

So I have decided to delete several un-listened-to songs from my library on WMP 12, and ended up doing so in the Music folder, because when I right-click on the song in WMP 12 and select Delete, nothing happens. Literally NOTHING - no lag, freeze or crash -
it just ignores the fact that I even clicked delete. The songs that I deleted from the Music folder have not been updated, that is, they aren't gone from WMP 12, and I have tried to delete songs that ARE in my Music folder from WMP 12, but to no avail. I can
still play songs that are in my Music folder directly from WMP 12. Any suggestions!?

I just bought another MP3 player (MP4 Multimedia). At $12.95 with 7 GB storage it was cheap enough and I had no big problem transferring my MP3 music from computer to device. Sound is satisfactory. Some features such as FM radio and e-books are not needed and several desirable features appear to be missing.

Instructions included were absolutely minimal. No CD was included but I did find a manual for the device on the internet.

There are only four navigation buttons and one volume button. Navigation works but is difficult and frustrating.

Screen is color 1"x1.5", but displays a boring "mixer graphic" when music is playing. It does not display the album cover picture included with most MP3 files or other more useful information on the selection playing.

Display stays on for only 8 seconds when no button has been pressed and there seems to be no way to increase this. 20 seconds would be more useful without chewing up battery time.

Playlist. My other MP3 player allows you to create true Playlists, not rearranging the music library to "playlist" folders, but rather creating a list that "points" to music selections. I can create "playlist folder" and copy selections to it, but that is inefficient and wastes space.

Oh well, the device was cheap enough.

I'm looking for a media player e.g. something like wmp, vlc, gom etc. that will fix playlists by searching a volume for moved files. The scenario occurs often for me where the files listed in a playlist have been moved to another location. Often the playlist will contain files from various locations and it would be useful to have something that automatically repairs the list.

I have found an application that does this http://listfix.sourceforge.net/ however I first have to manually export the playlist from my media player, this gets tedious when I have many playlists to fix so I would like a media player that has this functionality built in.

Sometimes it is the case where the media player cannot export a 'broken playlist' for example itunes will export the playlist, but files it cannot find will be missing from the playlist so listfix cannot do anything to fix that.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on a six month old Dell Notebook fairly well upgraded. All works well, but Windows Media Player does the strangest thing. When a song plays it skips or breaks up for a second or two in exactly the same spot with about 10 to 15 seconds to go in the song. And it does it song after song in exactly the same place....about 10 or 15 seconds from the end of the song.

I have tried emptying the music folder and restoring the songs. I turned off my spyware and virus programs. These same songs will play fine in Limewire library and playlists.

When the breakup starts I notice the CPU meter jumps from about 7% to 40 or 45% quickly. Is something interferring and if so what or is it the Media Player. Seems strange it is always in the exact same spot.

I've got all my music in an external drive.
When i configured bakups i selected that same external drive as destination to back up to.

Now, i added the music from that drive to windows media player and now, when the computer backs up, i've got this error telling me some files were omitted (namely all the music) because they're on the same drive as the backup's destination.

I'm going to use WMP because it's already there (regardless of there being a million better choices of media players/managers) so don't bother suggesting otherwise.

My question is: is there any special folder i should avoid backing up so this error doesn't happen? (like the one that contains WMP database)

More info:
Event type: Warning
Source: Windows backup
Event ID: 4106

Thanks for your help =)

Edit: The backup's error window gave me a link to more information; it's actually the log file but it's in Spanish and while i'm not sure it would help, i'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

Copias de seguridad omiti? la copia de seguridad de Z:\Musiquita\ porque no se encuentra en el destino de copia de seguridad.

A:Error when backing up with windows media player songs in backup drive.

Windows won't let you backup files on the destination disk to the destination disk. It ain't gonna happen. Change the location of your music files or the disk you're using for backup. It's not good to use a backup disk for anything else anyway. The disk itself becomes less reliable because a write fault could destroy your backup. What's the point of having a backup if you're not using it as a backup?

In the last two weeks, I have encountered a bizarre problem.

Normally, in my workday I like to have Media Player playing music on random play. It cycles between some 7000 tracks on my machine. That's the way I like to run my day. I have been doing this for several years way back since the days of Windows XP and on different machines and had nothing in the way of problems.

At the end of the day, I also like to go back through the tracks by hitting the |<< button and tag some of the music. It's just part of my ritual and the way I like doing things.

However, after having done things this way most days for the better part of a decade, I am having a new problem. That is that after I skip back through the tracks then after half-a-dozen tracks, sometimes more, the entire playlist randomly crashes and Media Player starts playing the song that was last playing from the beginning. Just that song and no others. The rest of the playlist is saved but I then have to restart and play it from the beginning.

Any help or suggestions as to why this is happening would be most welcomed

Occasionally (well, it seems just about every time I boot up iTunes), when I click on a song to play it, I get that annoying little symbol next to it saying it's not found or can't be played. So I always have to go back to re-add the folder (the SAME folder) I always keep my music in (iTunes music folder). What is annoying me most about this is that it means I have to constantly re-add all my songs to my plethora of playlists.

Does anyone know why iTunes could be doing this? I recently got an external hard drive, but it even did this before that.

The songs are still on the computer, just not on playlists & must be readded to play in iTunes.

I just tested a theory, and this does indeed seem to be happening randomly. I've tried restarting my computer, connecting my iPod, and stripping a CD into the iTunes library. Apparently, right now none of that is messing with my playlists and giving me those beautiful x's. Anyone know what could be causing the seemingly random mess-up of my stuff?

A:How to change the names of songs Media Player 10

I have used windows media player to sync up with my mp3 player. To change the song title, artist, etc I opened the media player, clicked on library and then right clicked on the song and selected edit. At that point, you can edit any information for that song.
