Keyboard stops functioning on veriton M4630G

Q: Keyboard stops functioning on veriton M4630G

Once I installed Win10, the USB Acer keyboard started malfunctionning (erratic key responses, no responses at all, etc. A reboot of the system settles the problem... for about 10 minutes. I tried the keyboard on other computers: works fine. I even tried an old PS2 keuboard, with the same results. I updated all the available drivers published on the Acer Web site to no avail. A call to the Acer service center resulted with the suggestion that I should revert to Win 7. Unbeleivable !Has anyone encountered a similar problem ? Ps help needed.vital

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Sorry your having problems with your computer, When you say you have swapped out your Ram? Does this mean that you have Just move the Ram Sticks from Slot 0 to 1 and 1 to 0? Or do you mean that you have replaced the Ram with new ram? IF it is the same ram! Have you tried only 1 stick of the 2 (if 2) with the same results? Then if same issue with 1 in first slot try the next, Then if same issue, Remove that Stick try the other in both slots?  I don't know of any beep codes for Acer products or what Bios you have in your machine. Hi all. I have already posted this once here. The topic had quite a few views and not a single reply. I'm giving this another try, as the problem persists and is not getting any better.

The keyboard on my Aurora m9700 is having some strange issues. I cannot figure if it is software or hardware related, either. At random intervals, the keyboard will cease function. But when I go into standby, then come out of standby the problem seems to be magically fixed! In fact, the problem just happened right after I finished typing the last sentence. I checked event manager, nothing changed. I had to go into standby and come out of it...

So please, is there anyone on here that can help me out? I have reformatted the computer since this started happening and nothing has changed, so I do not know what could possibly be causing this!

A:Weird keyboard laptop issue. Keyboard randomly stops functioning until I standby.

Just going to keep bumping this until I get a reply, or bet banned. Every thread has some form of reply...maybe I smell or something?

Running the latest Windows 10 64-bit, all drivers up-to-date according to the Lenovo tools, but the only key that seems to work on the keyboard is the Function Lock key in the upper-left and the Windows-logo key.  All others, when depressed, result in no input to the system. Has anyone else experienced this?  Is this a faulty driver issue in a recent update?  Or is this a hardware failure?

My Dell XPS 400 Desktop with Pentium D processor with Windows XP media edition suddenly gave a blue screen error. It will not reboot to give me a chance to fix it. When turned on it goes as far as the Screen that shows " We apologize but windows did not start successfully; a recent hardware or software change might have caused this ...." Then it gives options to strat up like "Safe mode" " Last successfull login.." Start windows normally"
but no mater what choice you make there is no further progress. THe Keboard suddenly goes dead and the mouse stops functioning too.
How do I proceed?
PS
I have tried installing another hard drive and it will not go past the first screen,
I tried reinstalling a windows on the same hard drive but it will not proceed neither
What are my options?

Hello,
I've been facing this problem for more than 2 weeks, while I'm regularly surfing the internet, it suddenly stops, browser stops loading, everything that works through internet stops, in addition to this, some other functions stop responding, for example when I want to use the troubleshooting for networks available (in the control panel), it gets stuck and refuses to work, another example, the icon for the wireless connection located in the taskbarm I cant open it when the internet stops working, I keep on clicking on it but its not opening, another example, I cant open cmd as administrator, and when I try so the whole explorer stops functioning, so I have to start taskmanager and end the explorer process and start it all over again, another example, when shutting down my laptop (take to record that the laptop will only start functioning right only after shutting down the computer), the logout screen appears and stays for 10 minutes stating that it shutting down, after the 10 minutes are over a blue screen appears which states the following error : DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, so I either wait the 10 minutes or press and hold the power button until it shuts down.

I originally posted this problem in the Networking forums (here Internet stops suddenly) but they told me that I am infected, and forwarded me to the Spyware/trojan/virus removal Forums,(here Internet stops suddenly (Infected)) they directed me to clean my system step by step, and finally my system is now ... I have to do a full shutdown/restart. There are 4 audio drivers )Intel, 2 NVIDIA and Realtek) and I haven't a clue which one is for what purpose. I suspect the problem is software/driver related but wanted to see if anyone else has had audio problems. Or if anyone has ideas how to isolate the cause.

I was using a wireless mouse/keyboard set made by Microsoft. I changed the batteries, restarted the computer, still didn't work. I tested another wireless mouse that I own, that didn't work. Tried a USB wired mouse, that didn't work. Anyone had any problems like this? Needless to say, this is very frustrating, as my computer is sitting idle/useless at the moment.

Every couple of months I have an issue with my Latitude 3550 laptop where the Bluetooth stops functioning out of the blue (pun kind of intended).  The error I get is:
Disabling / enabling or uninstalling /reinstalling the Bluetooth under Device Manager does not fix it.  Neither does reinstalling the driver.  So far the only thing I have found that resolves it is to update (or reapply) the latest BIOS firmware.  Then it works again for a couple of months.
Any reason that this would keep happening, or at least is there a lesser means to fix this issue?  Thanks for any input you may have!

I bought a new Inspiron 13 7368 2-in-1 with the Intel  i7 512gig SSD and 12 gigs of ram about a month ago. I love the machine but every time I add software or inadvertently turn it off  my headphone jack stops working as well as the keyboard sound control buttons. I have been able to recover functionality after 3 tech calls to Dell (4 hours) and a couple times on my own. The most recent time....NOT! I am really frustrated. The solution is never obvious so you can't just go fix the problem! Today I ordered Bluetooth earbuds so I can hopefully use headphones without using the headphone jack if this persists! As anyone figured this out?
Thanks,

Hey guys,

A couple of days ago my mouse stopped working properly while playing a game in steam, initially thought the game had caused it so closed the program and the mouse wouldn't work altogether. Have tried the mouse on another computer and works fine on there, even works fine on the computer in question when on a different, non windows partition. The mouse functions on the login screen absolutely fine, and will work on the desktop for the first minute or so. Then will just stop working altogether, the optical laser turns off inside the mouse, however the decorative lighting on the device stay on, the mouse has 4 pre-set DPI settings with dedicated buttons on the peripheral itself which normally change the colour of the decorative lighting, currently that does not happen, they just stay the same colour. Really oddly sometimes the scroll wheel works but nothing else. The mouse does work fine in safe mode. I have already done a lot of research into what could be causing this, there are many threads but not so many solutions, none of which seem to work for me; I have tried reinstalling the drivers, doing a system restore and changing usb power settings. My keyboard and external trackpad are bluetooth to an internal receiver and remain unaffected, the operating system is Windows 7 64 bit Home and the mouse is a Perixx MX1000. Absolutely any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I got a new Y50 Lenovo laptop two days ago and everything was working perfectly. Out of the three available usb ports, I had my mouse, headphones, and CoolerMaster X-Slim fan plugged in. The fan was working well until I started getting power surge notifications in the bottom right, and suddenly the fan stopped functioning. I unplugged the fan from the usb and replugged it, but nothing. I then tried plugging in my mouse to that port, and it didn't work. I re-installed the USB drivers and restarted my computer. I then tried plugging my mouse into that port, and it worked! However, whenever I plug the external fan into ANY of the three ports, the USB port immediately stops functioning for anything. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Is there too much electricity going through the computer? Faulty fan? Thanks in advance for the help.

A:USB port stops functioning after plugging in a specific accessory

Sounds like the fan is faulty to me as well. I'd definitely stop trying to use it on that brand new Lenovo Y50 laptop until you can get it checked out, or replaced.

Ok well, I recently encountered the Antivirus 2010 virus (oh the irony) and I was desperate in ridding the virus off my computer so I did everything I could. I tried finding the files that were found to be infected and deleting them but it was restricted because either the files were 'in use' or they 'couldn't read from the disk'. Some of which were system files.

I downloaded the trial version of Malwarebytes and tried to scan but as soon as it started scanning it would crash and if I tried to re-run the program via the desktop or program files, it would give me a message saying:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I tried re-installing and repeating the process but it was a continuous loop. So I tried another program called 'Spybot - Search and Destroy' and it lead to the same problem.

Sheer desperation lead to the execution of ComboFix without guidance, knowing I had nothing to lose, and thankfully it got rid of Antivirus 2010. The only problem now is the crashing of the anti-virus/spyware/malware programs.

My apologies for not posting in the correct format as HijackThis also crashed as it began scanning and re-running gave me the error message mentioned above. I would be happy to follow any given instructions as my computer is still a bit glitchy and laggy.

Thank you in advance!

So I've been back and forth with Gigabyte on this card for about 2 years now. I've just about had it with those failures of Repair technicians. So Coming to you guys so I can get some more opinions on if the card is bad or if I'm just crazy.

a Little history. Back in DEC 2012 I got this new card for my older rig. These problems started happening right off the bat. I thought things were overheating as I wasn't as experienced back then with these problems as I am now. So I purchased a whole new rig, Built from the ground up Low and behold same problems kept happening. Assumed it was one of the other components RMA'd because Gigabyte swore up and down it wasn't their card and I believed them. Still problems. I started dropping this card into other Machines. Those machines started acting up. I RMA'd the card. Came back "minor damage repaired" Same problem. It's been back to them 5 times now and Each time it's returned "minor damage repaired" replacement not needed.

So Today, I took it for a spin tried various games. Things that crash it. Usually in a third person game. I'm in a vehicle and the moment i pick up speed. Card fails. Borderlands 2. sleeping dogs. It never fails. CIV 5 will crash it when I have a lot of units being pushed around on the screen alot of animation etc. Warlock will crash it for the same reason CivV does. Tera Online, Mind you this card will fail even on the lowest of settings.

instead of testing it with games use a proper stress tester.

download msi afterburner alomg with msi kombuster.

check that your cards core frequency is set correct as well as all the other settings in the left hand column. basically check theyre all running at factory setting.
the use combuster to stress test it, if it doesnt fail then, then it may not be the card at fault.

if it does fail record it via screen capture or on your phone. use this as evidence against gigabyte.

failing that somewhere under the fit for purpose act youre entitled to a refund or replacement. (well thats uk law) not sure how other countries systems work.

just make sure if you do go down this route you remain polite im always less than helpful if a customer comes to me shouting and making demands while waving broken crap in my face lol

Hi Guys,
I have this strange problem. When I type something on the keyboard none of the printable characters show up on the screen i.e. if I open up a word processor or an IE nothing I type shows up. But if I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete the windows security screen shows up as it is supposed to. The arrow keys also work fine. Also, the pc reboots every so often (no set interval), a blue screen comes up before the system reboots but it doesn't stay up long enough to read what it says. Could this be caused by a virus? If so, do you know any fixes? I'm using Windows 2000. Help is greatly appriciated.

I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. Every now and then, often enough to be irritating, the keyboard fails to function: the mouse works properly. The keyboard problem persists for a few minutes, after which it works again. There is no discernable pattern to this problem.

This is the third wireless keyboard to show the same problem, suggesting something is wrong elsewhere.

The keyboard batteries are not responsible for the failure.

On the same desk is a cordless telephone.

Any helpful suggestions would be very gratefully received.

A:Intermittent keyboard non-functioning

I wonder if you are suspecting interference from other wireless transmitting devices? Your comment about the cordless phone suggests an obvious test - could you relocate the phone elsewhere and see if the problem still occurs? The same with any other wireless devices located nearby. Do you have any nearby electrical devices or lights which emit radio frequency noise?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if I can get some help with this issue.

Recently I installed a new copy of WinXP Pro onto my machine and everything was working correctly except for the Multimedia Buttons on my keyboard. Before, my keyboard ( Dell SK-8135 USB) worked perfectly. I tried everything from updating drivers to downloading repair kits. Finally after a restart, I noticed that the multimedia buttons worked but all my other buttons on the keyboard didn't!

I've tried uninstalling the driver, letting the computer pick up the keyboard but still no luck. Device Manager says everything is working correctly.
The keyboard functions in the BIOS but not in the OS (except for the music keys of course).
Does anyone have suggestions on what it would take for normal keys to work? Maybe something to be changed in the registry? Any help is appreciated!

I have a Abit KT7 motherboard, and a pretty old ps/2 keyboard, and a logitech [email protected]

Yesterday my whole computer went berzerk when I tried to change my mouse from ps/2->usb, I would get a bluescreen from a audiodriver and after fixing that, the mouse still didn't work properly.. Or it did, but it found new hardware (the mouse) after every reboot and it had a logitech mouse installed under human interface devices and under mouse it had just (unknown mouse= installed.. well to get there it took about 5h of uninstalling and installing different drivers and it finally seemed to work .. when upon booting into xp, the keyboard stopped working. In bios it still works, but if I eg. repeatedly press caps lock when booting, after the grey bar has gone to the right edge the light on the keyboard stops flashing..

I have absolutely now idea wtf is up with this. I think that this same problem has occured before too, I remember it being one of those bugs solved by eating a banana while dancing on one foot..

Yeah so now I'm installing (or recovering the installed version) of xp, but its kinda stuck since when it boots the first time from the hard drive the keyboard wont work in the installation program when it asks me where a file is.. I think I'll now install a fresh copy of xp, but please I really hope someone can shed some light on whats happening.

Since your mouse is working, click on your start and then "help and support". There you can click on system restore and pick a date before your woes. I've used this several time to save me from myself poking around and messing things up. Now I know this doesn't answer the "why" of your problem, but it might save you some hours of frustration. Also, once you get things as you like them, you can pick a particular date and set it with a name so that you can restore to that particular day. Another useful feature in XP.
Good luck!

Hi

Sometimes my laptop keyboard will simply stop functioning or have extreme lag. But it's different than the lag we are accustomed too. It's more of a one key takes about 10 minutes to appear and even if i continually press key's, it would not show all the keys pressed, only the first or maybe second one.

There appears to be no apparent pattern to this. It happens with or without battery power attached. It happens in the middle of anything. So, I really am doubtful it's connected to a specific issue or something.

I'm on an Acer TravelMate 2420, about 2 weeks old.

Hi.
Got an issue here. There's an error in my computer and because I'm not able to do anything when the system BIOS prompts me to, I can't fix it. I can see power lights on my keyboard but still, trying to get inside the system BIOS menus, boot from CD, or or even start into safe mode are impossible for me. However, I can get inside the BIOS if I immediately, (and I mean IMMEDIATELY) hit the respective button as soon and the POST starts. But after that, when I'm inside the BIOS menu, again, I cant do anything. I've even tried using a PS/2 to USB adapter to see if it may work, but to no avail. Right now I'm trying to reset the jumpers and take out the battery in hope that this will reset the settings. I've benched down to everything except the hard drive, RAM, and processor. Any suggestions?

The ALT Keys on my USB Keyboard used to work perfectly fine until around the 1st. I'm unsure of what caused this issue.

The computer I'm using is a laptop and both of the ALT keys on the laptop work perfectly fine.

The USB Keyboard I have has ALT keys but those don't function at all. They used to, but not anymore.

I've tried checking and unchecking sticky keys, looking at the On-Screen Keyboard, uninstalling, rolling back, and updating drivers... full system restores to middle of last month which is about a week before I suspected it stopped working.

Nothing has worked so far... what could this possibly be?

Hi All,

My laptop had a blue screen and keyboard stops working as well, I plugged the external keyboard and re-install the windows, now half of the keys are working and half dosent.

I am wondering has the kyboard damaged, I am also not sure if the I replace the keyboard will it work?

is there any settings in bios or any utility can fix the problem, could some one please advise?

Thanks
Nysoh

A:Keyboard stops working - USB external keyboard is fine

Hello Nysoh

On this virtual way nobody can say for sure what the problem is but if the internal keyboard is not working properly first step is keyboard replacement. If the problem still persists then troublemaker can be keyboard port or keyboard controller.

As far as I know BIOS has nothing to do with this issue.

I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse set comfort edition. It used to work fine on my old computer and now i have just run a repair install of windows and it doesnt work. WHen i installed it last time i didnt need drivers or anything and there are none on the internet anyway. All i have is the Intellittype and intellipoint programs that came with the product. These are just about config and do not contain drivers or anything. I plug in another USB optical mouse and it worked fine. My keyboard and mouse are both plugged into PS/2 ports, the mouse by an adaptor. What do i need to do to make them work again?

Hello -

It seems you have a similar post in the Windows XP section already.

Please do not create multiple topics for the same issue.

Personally, I would think it's more a driver conflict issue. Does the same thing happen in Safe Mode? Add any comment/concern about that in your other topic.

I have a NUC running WIN 10 Pro and it was working fine until Friday.  I unplugged it to move it to a new room and when I try to turn it on, it asks for my Bitlocker recovery key.

I never activated Bitlocker in the first place, but my I have found my recovery key on my Microsoft account.  The problem is, the keyboard doesn't work...I can't type the recovery key in and I can't press any function keys during boot-up to get to the
BIOS to do anything else that might work.
I've changed keyboards, gone from wireless to plug-in, changed batteries, etc...the keyboards all work fine for other devices, just not for this one while it's locked.
HELP!

Hello,Many of the keys on a keyboard of my HP 2760p  are failing to function.I have tried removing the power, holding down power button.I ordered a replacement keyboard which exhibits the same problem. It appears the problem is fluid as the escape and CAPS buttons stopped working today. The computer is out of warranty coverage. Any ideas?!!?      On the image the different colors all indicate function and white unresponsive Thank you for any solutions or experience-Bakelite

Try a usb keyboard but if a brand new keyboard does this it is very likely the keyboard controller on the motherboard which would require motherboard replacement as the solution.

- advent wireless [with usb wireless adapter] keyboard K312

Water damage, solely, to built in keyboard a year ago. Some keys do not register while others register random keys. Since then I have been using the advent external keyboard without any problems; until today. The external keyboard almost mimics the built in one now. I've tried troubleshooting and re installed the device drivers multiple times however nothing has changed.

Some help and or advice would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance!
