Q: Yoga 710-15IKB Laptop Screen Shift

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically. Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function. It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

Hi, I have a problem with the shift keys in my v130-15ikb new laptop. Since I bought the laptop, the same issue, both shift keys dont work propperly. when i press the left shift, it gives me the [ sign and when i press the right shift gives me the \ sign. I have tried everything, change keyboard layout, from Uk keyboard to US. Ive reinstalled my windows 10 several times. Ive upgraded the bios. uninstalled the keyboard drivers and installed them again. tried to remap the keyboard keys with a keyboard remapper program, but nothing, please, help me.

Hello all--am seriously considering returning this laptop---if this cannot be resolved.  Just bought thiis laptop about a month ago.  Doesn't matter which browser I use, but within 15-20 min online it starts to flicker violently (the word that comes to mind), and also today started blacking out.  It only does this when I am online, and it doesn't matter which site I am on.  It happens with all browsers, but with IE it starts almost within minutes of going online.  I am forced to shut the browser down. I've tried the Lenovo suggested Task Manager check---but I have not downloaded any apps that might be interfering.  Literally, this laptop is brand new! I've not installed anything. I don't want to remove the battery...I shouldn't have to do all this stuff to a brand new machine. It's frustrating since I got this specifically to do online things---work, design, surf, etc. I've searched hte knowledge base and the community and cannot see anything similar except for Tablets. I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... I just had to take my laptop in to get the screen replaced for a second time in less than 1 year. Dead pixel issue both times. It is Best Buy Geek Squad that does the work so I assume the first replacement was with a Lenovo screen. Any other dead pixel issues? It's very frustrating going 2 weeks again without my computer.

Maybe once a month, my Lenovo screen will freeze and this will happen to the screen before I have to hold down the powerbutton and restart my laptop. What should I do? I had read that someone else had replaced their EPD Cable (P/N 5C10M14137LNV) - the cable connecting the mother board to the LCD display and it fixed it. (2) Screen with ribbon cables/digitizer connections that attach to a digitizer pcb boardI am trying to replace my screen but the screen models are built differently.(1) Screen with display port only The original display looks exactly like picture (1). It only has one port for the diplay cable and a black plastic extension (circled in red) for the microphone pcb.  Many of the screens  advertised to replace it look like picture (2). These are not compatible with my laptop becuase mine does not have an extra digitizer board or the two ribbon cables that attach to it.     Two options that I am considering are screen (3) and (4). (3 ) is (2) but rewired to be compatible with my laptop. (4)  does not have the two ribbon cable but is missing a bezel extension (circled in red) where the microphone pcb board is usually attached. I would like to purchase (4)  but I am concerned about the missing bezel extension. (3 ) rewired with exra ribbon cable and digitizer(4) has display port but is missing bezel extensionAny reply is appreciated.

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

Has anyone had any issues with 'screen door' on their 730 15IKB? I can see the spaces between the pixels quite clearly on certain colors - blues, reds, oranges. White and Black have no noticable lines. But most colors have some level of this showing up. Blues are the worst, producing a corodory effect. I am sitting at arms length from the screen and it is noticeable enough to bother me. If I put myself ~5 ft away the screen has blurred enough that the lines are not noticeable.  1920x1080 screen (set at native resolution)Scaling set to 100% but increasing to 125% does not impact the size / spacing of the lines.Fix Scaling does nothing as wellIntel UHD 620 - Driver ver. 24.20.100.6344Power settings are all set to max performanceConservation mode does not impactI have undervolted my cpu however the issue was present before that It seems like the effect is greatly minimized when playing games. Is this normal?

Lenovo laptop's display suddently went off and it is not turning on. I thought the battery might have discharged and plugged in, but the indicator that battery is charging is also not on. bought my laptop today, and can't seem to get the touchscreen working or the pen for that case. In pc settings it says that there is no pen or touch avalabe. I used my laptop last night just fine and plugged it into the power adapter all day while I was at work.  Came home and opened the laptop but the screen won?t turn on.  The light by the power button was on and the light by the AC plug is on.  I held the power button 15 seconds to turn off the laptop and then clicked the power button to turn it back on, however the fan doesn?t turn on nor does the screen.  Please help!

Alright, my pen input works but not the touch input.Drivers are up to date, so is windows. Device manager shows all devices as working, incl. the wacom device and the HID-compatible touch screen.I tried to:- unistall the driver HID-compatible touch screen driver and restart- unistall the wacom driver incl. deletion of drivers, restart and reinstallation via lenovo vantage- downgrade the bios as per a solution here- reinstall of windows, one time via a lenovo restore usb, one time with a windows media creator usb In the same thread as the downgrade bios solution One of the Lenovo reps posted about upgrading the ... I contacted the Lenovo support as well and they want me to send in the device. BUT it was purchased in Germany incl. 2 year extended warranty and I'm currently residing in Denmark. Lenovo says that I can't send it in for a warranty claim without a German address and also tells me that international warranty is not an option for this device.It's quite the rollercoaster, really. Especially since I'm 99% it's not a h/w failure but some kind of low level software problem. Touch doesn't work in the bios or during windows install either. Or while booted from a ubuntu live usb. Is there anyone with the same issue and a potential solution?

I've bought Yoga 510 about 2 weeks ago, and since the very begining of use it has some problems with screen, which sometimes turns white while it's been moved (sometmes while opening the laptop for examle). Does anyone know why this is happening?

keys on keyboard do not have any affect on brightness.  Also the places in windows where the brightness settings usually reside.   I tried going into the bios and hitting F9 and then F10.  that did not seem to fix the problem any ideas?

Hello, I'm currently replacing a screen for a client. I remove the double sided tape and don't know what I could use instead... it seems thicker than normal double sided tape. I sould've just left it there but it's my first glued in screen. I really miss screwed in screens haha. thanks

Hi! New Yoga owner here. In tablet mode, the on screen keyboard does not automatically pop up when touching a text box. I saw that there was a issue with chrome, but for all text boxes I have to manually open and close the keyboard. Now, when I first started up the laptop it was working. The only things I have done since unboxing is install chrome, firefox and malwarebytes; uninstall the office trials and mcafee trial; and run the updates (the only critical one being a bios firmware update). Any ideas on how to fix this? I have looked through the settings to no avail. Am I missing something? A driver may be?  Thanks!

Hello i recently Bought This Laptop and the rotation worked just  fine, but after i updated via windows update It wont Rotate anymore, i looked around in a few posts about registry keys and enabling it. the rotation lock button popped back up but it still will not rotate. My Yoga 720-15 laptop spontaneously turns off when not plugged in, despite being at 100% battery power.I ran Lenovo Vantage to update my BIOS but when I run the update software, I get an error message saying "Please insert system battery."Any suggestions on what is happening? I am worried a battery connection has come loose.  No trauma incidents I can think of recently to have cause this.When plugged in, the computer stays on.  But I am still unable to update my BIOS.

Hello,A few days ago I've received my new Lenovo yoga 720 15". i've noticed that the bottom aluminium body plate is uneven and edges are curvy. I thought that this would not be a big problem, but the other day, after intensive use in an uncomfortable position whitch included me holding the laptop on the sides of the body. The uneven edge is too sharp for comfort.So, my question is, do I have a chance to change the product? Because I consider laptop to be defective. (otherwise, I really love the product )

I just recently bought the YOGA 710-15IKB and after I got it which was on 1/27/17, I went to the product support page and downloaded all of the updated drivers and the BIOS update. I did everything as it was supposed to be done and now out of nowhere the Screen will not turn on, I can turn it on, the keyboard lights up, it seems to charge just fine but the screen just stays black, anybody have any ideas on how to possibly troubleshoot this, or what could have caused this?

HELP! I closed my screen and heard a crack.  The bottom right part of the screen has separated.  Best buy quotes 6+ weeks and no known cost for repair and lenovo had no advice other than talk to best buy.  I am a full-time student and cannot be without my laptop and certainly cannot afford to pay for a new screen.  Naturally, I am a few months past my warranty and did not purchase extended coverage.  Anyone have a fix? It seems like the screen is "sagging" on the right bottom now.

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

I have recently been having issues with my computer crashing / showing a black screen when trying to edit photos or videos using software such as gimp and Lightworks. Often I will try to edit a photo/video, the screen will freeze and the computer screen will go black and sometimes won't ever fix itself until I hard shut down and repower the laptop. The display driver will also crash occasionally. When the screen goes black the computer does not show the mouse, but the display is still on. I have tried updating the display driver and downloaded the recommended driver from the internet and installed it. I have also tried restarting the display driver using win + ctrl + shift + b to restart the display driver when the screen is black but that was also unsuccesful.  Sometimes the screen will fix itsefl after going black if I leave it alone for a while but then some of the pixels on the screen won't update correctly. The position varries but it is usually about an inch wide box that appears somewhere on the screen. Again if I restart the computer this problem will go away as well. I have included a photo to show the issue.  I am curious if anyone has any ideas to resolve these issues. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need further information. I have also tried updating windows but this also did not fix the issue.

Hi,  I am having big issues with my yoga 730.  a few days ago I was having wierd crashes where the screen would go black for a few seconds and then recover.  this saturday the touch functionality stopped working for no reason. yesterday the touch functionality was back for some time but then was gone again.  As of today the touch function for fingers is gone and only works with the pen. The system is completly up to date via lenovo Vantage.Running latest version of Windwos 10 Uninstalling the Driver HID-compliant touch screen  causes the driver to self install after restarting without fixing the issue.

Hello dear lenovo community, I came here to ask for help about a problem I started having, and that is, the touch screen is simply not working. I've tried uninstalling and then installing the driver, disabling and enabling the driver, booting to safe mode, nothing helped. The touch screen is dead. Strangely, the wacom pen that came with the notebook still works. I can use it with the touchscreen with no problems at all. Also, I've installed a few windows updates to see if that helps me, and after the update I've got this error popup on the lockscreen, I don't remember what it was saying exactly, but it mentioned the words "tablet" and "file not found or you have no permission to access it". I can't tell if it's related to the problem here or no. I'm on Windows 10 home version 1809 with installation date 25. feb. 2019. Note that the screen still worked after this update, I last used the touchscreen on 9. mar. 2019. thanks for help in advance!

Hello. I had purchased this device in August 2017 and has been working wonderfully. I noticed last month that my touch screen had stopped working. I have tried a lot of things that I found online to try and fix this but the touch screen has not started working yet. I have tried the following:Uninstall HID-compliant touch screen drivers from Device ManagerDisable and Enable HID-compliant touch screen driver from Device ManagerRoll back the latest Windows 10 updateUninstall Wacom driver from Device ManagerI have noticed a lot of complaints regarding the non functioning of the touch screen on Yoga 720 model but these have been issues with brand new models. I am out of warranty and the touch screen had been working perfectly fine for a better part of the year and a half that I have owned this device. Any help to fix my touch screen would be greatly appreciated.

It was working totally fine for one and a half year, and for the last few days, it stopped working. I reinstalled the OS, tried in safe mode also. But nothing works. But the device manager is suggesting that the device is working properly. what should I do now?

I should have returned this laptop when I began having WiFi issues immediately after buying it September 1st. I use this laptop at work with NO movement of it, after opening it today I have discovered that it has a hairline crack right by the hinge--making the touchscreen capabilities of this laptop nonexistent. I researched and found this is a huge problem! I tried contacting Lenovo and submitting a form for them to call me and it will not go through. I am hugely devastated at this company's quality control.

I have a Yoga 720 15ikb laptop that has a horizontal black bar appearing on the top of the screen. I called Lenovo tech support and they said that it is a hardware issue and that the screen needs to be replaced. My laptop warranty ended in August 2018.  I just want help purchasing a new LCD screen that is guranteed to not share this well known defect. I am hoping that lenovo can respond with helping me buy this at cost.  I do not see why they should make money by selling me an aftermarket part (with that hefty aftermarket mark-up) since this is their fault. Can someone from Lenovo please message me with options? I would be willing to do the replacement myself.  Alternatively, has anyone had luck fixing this gasket? I noticed that if I close the lid, flip it upside down, the bar vanishes (falls back into place). Then it starts to appear within a few minutes of use with the screen right side up. Maybe there is a way to remove or fix this moving gasket?

Hi there. I have a Yoga 720-15IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80X7. Also have a low to mid level technical ability. Device keeps giving the Synaptics WBDI Error Code 10. 1. Tried updating the driver - did not resolve issue'; and2. Tried disabling and re-enabling - did not resolve issue; and3. Tried to manually find and install the latest driver - Message that the latest driver is installed; and4. Treed reloading windows 10 - Did not resolve issue; and5. Tried updating windows 10 - Did not resolve issue. Has anyone been able to fix this? Can anyone please help with this? Thank you in advance for your support and help.

Did you change the operating system of the machine? What is the fingerprint reader driver version? Try to search for a compatible driver using the Lenovo Vantage utility. Open Lenovo Vantage (download if not installed) then go to System Updates.

Hi, I am an Englishman living in Bulgaria. I am no spring chicken and more of a computer user than a technician so am limited in what I can do albiet, I can follow simple instructions, but I have most probably already tried every 'fix' I could find on the Internet and the Touchpad is completely unresponsive and yet, an external USB Mouse works just fine. I had to have Windows 10 Home Version 1903 unistalled and intalled again today to solve a non-responsive Taskbar search failure as I had no search anywhere working and that resolved that issue, but not the completely dead greyed out Touchpad. Clicking between F6 for on/off does nothing, just shows me a greyed out unresponsive Touchpad. This Laptop is still under gaurantee for another 33 days, but I would prefer to try and resolve this myself IF POSSIBLE. This Laptop was being used by someone else, I understand that they had Touchpad problems and used an external Mouse, but I hadn't realised it was this bad until I got the Laptop back yesterday and couldn't even move the cursor until I plugged in the USB external Mouse. I have another smaller Yoga where the same Mouse and Touchpad work in tandem no problem, but I can get nothing on this 720. So, what is the fix, I have tried about everything I could find and follow on the Internet and as I said at the outset, I am no spring chicken, a Computer User and not a Technician so need careful step by step guidance in trying to resolve this problem before going completely mad and retur... I have a YOGA 710-15IKB  that has recently developed isses with the battery.  It works fine when using with a normal laptop screen angle, but when the screen is flipped to a tablet mode or when the screen is closed it indicates the battery cannot be detected and it will turn off instantly if not plugged into AC adapter.  Any solutions for this?

It's hard to pinpoint when/ how this started. Occasionally the screen wouldn't turn on. Laptop would otherwise boot normally. At first I thought it was related to coming out of sleep, but then one day I noticed the display would work by pressing (applying pressure) to the lower right portion of the screen (above the hinge). So for a few months I did this whenever it happened. Eventually I had to do it every time I turned it on. This is a touchscreen, but the pressing I applied seemed to be affecting a connection behind the screen. Sometimes I needed to apply decent pressure (actually flexing the screen some), and sometimes it took a couple tries to find the right spot to apply it. Eventually this stopped working altogether, and have resorted to using a 2nd monitor. I started researching the issue again, and have not found much related to my exact issue. The interesting thing is I realized that the touchscreen is still functioning. I had set the display to duplicate, and noticed I can still perform touch functions on the laptop screen that showed up on the 2nd monitor. I watched a screen replacement vid for this model to try and understand what's behind this screen. I'm hoping it may be a simple fix with a bad connection going on. It appears all the main connections are at the bottom center of the screen. Nothing near the spot I had to press to get it to work, but maybe I was still flexing enough in that area to affect the connections at the center. I can't... Read more

I have a 1 year old Lenovo 750 15IKB. Touch screen stopped working a week ago so I cannot use my finger to work on it. The pen works well. I have tried everything possible. A couple of days ago the HID Compliant Touch screen disappeared from the Device Manager. Does anybody have a solution for this?  Thanks

The laptop states that the battery is fully charged, but it shuts down when the laptop is unplugged.  I think I have the settings configured properly, so I am at a loss.  Please find those settings attached.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Yoga 710-15IKB Laptop (ideapad)  80V5   - Ghost/phantom Touch IssueThis issue almost made me crazy. It usually occurs after waking up the Laptop from Standby. Sometimes, not always, a reboot helps. What I encounter in detail:- "Ghost Touch" Phenomenon  ,Ghost touch What I've tried so far to fix it: Firmware update: Even though my screen is an LG and is clearly affected, the firmware update program told me it is "not at risk" and wouldn't need an update. So this solution: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/Solutions/HT1... does not work, at all.Updating drivers: I've updated drivers several times with no lasting positive effect on the issue. Win 10 Updates: Seem to have no effect whatsoever, but I figured are worth trying. Lenovo Updates in Lenovo Companion: No effect. Hardware check in Lenovo Companion: Reports no hardware failures. Calibrating Touch and Stylus: No effect. Once it even got worse, but it certainly didn't fix anything... I don't know... Deactivating and reactivating touch screen in the Device Manager: Seemed to help at first, but the issue keeps reoccurring.... Read more

The laptop states that the battery is fully charged, but it shuts down when the laptop is unplugged.  I think I have the settings configured properly, so I am at a loss.  Please find those settings attached.  Any assistance would be appreciated.
