Q: Yoga 710-15IKB Laptop Screen Shift

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically. Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function. It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

Hi, I have a problem with the shift keys in my v130-15ikb new laptop. Since I bought the laptop, the same issue, both shift keys dont work propperly. when i press the left shift, it gives me the [ sign and when i press the right shift gives me the \ sign. I have tried everything, change keyboard layout, from Uk keyboard to US. Ive reinstalled my windows 10 several times. Ive upgraded the bios. uninstalled the keyboard drivers and installed them again. tried to remap the keyboard keys with a keyboard remapper program, but nothing, please, help me.

Hello all--am seriously considering returning this laptop---if this cannot be resolved.  Just bought thiis laptop about a month ago.  Doesn't matter which browser I use, but within 15-20 min online it starts to flicker violently (the word that comes to mind), and also today started blacking out.  It only does this when I am online, and it doesn't matter which site I am on.  It happens with all browsers, but with IE it starts almost within minutes of going online.  I am forced to shut the browser down. I've tried the Lenovo suggested Task Manager check---but I have not downloaded any apps that might be interfering.  Literally, this laptop is brand new! I've not installed anything. I don't want to remove the battery...I shouldn't have to do all this stuff to a brand new machine. It's frustrating since I got this specifically to do online things---work, design, surf, etc. I've searched hte knowledge base and the community and cannot see anything similar except for Tablets. I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... I just had to take my laptop in to get the screen replaced for a second time in less than 1 year. Dead pixel issue both times. It is Best Buy Geek Squad that does the work so I assume the first replacement was with a Lenovo screen. Any other dead pixel issues? It's very frustrating going 2 weeks again without my computer.

Maybe once a month, my Lenovo screen will freeze and this will happen to the screen before I have to hold down the powerbutton and restart my laptop. What should I do? I had read that someone else had replaced their EPD Cable (P/N 5C10M14137LNV) - the cable connecting the mother board to the LCD display and it fixed it. I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

Has anyone had any issues with 'screen door' on their 730 15IKB? I can see the spaces between the pixels quite clearly on certain colors - blues, reds, oranges. White and Black have no noticable lines. But most colors have some level of this showing up. Blues are the worst, producing a corodory effect. I am sitting at arms length from the screen and it is noticeable enough to bother me. If I put myself ~5 ft away the screen has blurred enough that the lines are not noticeable.  1920x1080 screen (set at native resolution)Scaling set to 100% but increasing to 125% does not impact the size / spacing of the lines.Fix Scaling does nothing as wellIntel UHD 620 - Driver ver. 24.20.100.6344Power settings are all set to max performanceConservation mode does not impactI have undervolted my cpu however the issue was present before that It seems like the effect is greatly minimized when playing games. Is this normal?

bought my laptop today, and can't seem to get the touchscreen working or the pen for that case. In pc settings it says that there is no pen or touch avalabe. keys on keyboard do not have any affect on brightness.  Also the places in windows where the brightness settings usually reside.   I tried going into the bios and hitting F9 and then F10.  that did not seem to fix the problem any ideas?

I've bought Yoga 510 about 2 weeks ago, and since the very begining of use it has some problems with screen, which sometimes turns white while it's been moved (sometmes while opening the laptop for examle). Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hello, I'm currently replacing a screen for a client. I remove the double sided tape and don't know what I could use instead... it seems thicker than normal double sided tape. I sould've just left it there but it's my first glued in screen. I really miss screwed in screens haha. thanks

I used my laptop last night just fine and plugged it into the power adapter all day while I was at work.  Came home and opened the laptop but the screen won?t turn on.  The light by the power button was on and the light by the AC plug is on.  I held the power button 15 seconds to turn off the laptop and then clicked the power button to turn it back on, however the fan doesn?t turn on nor does the screen.  Please help!

Hello,A few days ago I've received my new Lenovo yoga 720 15". i've noticed that the bottom aluminium body plate is uneven and edges are curvy. I thought that this would not be a big problem, but the other day, after intensive use in an uncomfortable position whitch included me holding the laptop on the sides of the body. The uneven edge is too sharp for comfort.So, my question is, do I have a chance to change the product? Because I consider laptop to be defective. (otherwise, I really love the product )

HELP! I closed my screen and heard a crack.  The bottom right part of the screen has separated.  Best buy quotes 6+ weeks and no known cost for repair and lenovo had no advice other than talk to best buy.  I am a full-time student and cannot be without my laptop and certainly cannot afford to pay for a new screen.  Naturally, I am a few months past my warranty and did not purchase extended coverage.  Anyone have a fix? It seems like the screen is "sagging" on the right bottom now.

I had purchased this device in August 2017 and has been working wonderfully. I noticed last month that my touch screen had stopped working. I just recently bought the YOGA 710-15IKB and after I got it which was on 1/27/17, I went to the product support page and downloaded all of the updated drivers and the BIOS update. I did everything as it was supposed to be done and now out of nowhere the Screen will not turn on, I can turn it on, the keyboard lights up, it seems to charge just fine but the screen just stays black, anybody have any ideas on how to possibly troubleshoot this, or what could have caused this?

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

Hello dear lenovo community, I came here to ask for help about a problem I started having, and that is, the touch screen is simply not working. I've tried uninstalling and then installing the driver, disabling and enabling the driver, booting to safe mode, nothing helped. The touch screen is dead. Strangely, the wacom pen that came with the notebook still works. I can use it with the touchscreen with no problems at all. Also, I've installed a few windows updates to see if that helps me, and after the update I've got this error popup on the lockscreen, I don't remember what it was saying exactly, but it mentioned the words "tablet" and "file not found or you have no permission to access it". I can't tell if it's related to the problem here or no. I'm on Windows 10 home version 1809 with installation date 25. feb. 2019. Note that the screen still worked after this update, I last used the touchscreen on 9. mar. 2019. thanks for help in advance!

I have a Yoga 720 15ikb laptop that has a horizontal black bar appearing on the top of the screen. I called Lenovo tech support and they said that it is a hardware issue and that the screen needs to be replaced. My laptop warranty ended in August 2018.  I just want help purchasing a new LCD screen that is guranteed to not share this well known defect. I am hoping that lenovo can respond with helping me buy this at cost.  I do not see why they should make money by selling me an aftermarket part (with that hefty aftermarket mark-up) since this is their fault. Can someone from Lenovo please message me with options? I would be willing to do the replacement myself.  Alternatively, has anyone had luck fixing this gasket? I noticed that if I close the lid, flip it upside down, the bar vanishes (falls back into place). Then it starts to appear within a few minutes of use with the screen right side up. Maybe there is a way to remove or fix this moving gasket?

Hi there. I have a Yoga 720-15IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80X7. Also have a low to mid level technical ability. Device keeps giving the Synaptics WBDI Error Code 10. 1. Tried updating the driver - did not resolve issue'; and2. Tried disabling and re-enabling - did not resolve issue; and3. Tried to manually find and install the latest driver - Message that the latest driver is installed; and4. Treed reloading windows 10 - Did not resolve issue; and5. Did you change the operating system of the machine? What is the fingerprint reader driver version? Try to search for a compatible driver using the Lenovo Vantage utility. Open Lenovo Vantage (download if not installed) then go to System Updates.

I have a YOGA 710-15IKB  that has recently developed isses with the battery.  It works fine when using with a normal laptop screen angle, but when the screen is flipped to a tablet mode or when the screen is closed it indicates the battery cannot be detected and it will turn off instantly if not plugged into AC adapter.  Any solutions for this?

It's hard to pinpoint when/ how this started. Occasionally the screen wouldn't turn on. Laptop would otherwise boot normally. At first I thought it was related to coming out of sleep, but then one day I noticed the display would work by pressing (applying pressure) to the lower right portion of the screen (above the hinge). So for a few months I did this whenever it happened. Eventually I had to do it every time I turned it on. This is a touchscreen, but the pressing I applied seemed to be affecting a connection behind the screen. Sometimes I needed to apply decent pressure (actually flexing the screen some), and sometimes it took a couple tries to find the right spot to apply it. Eventually this stopped working altogether, and have resorted to using a 2nd monitor. I started researching the issue again, and have not found much related to my exact issue. The interesting thing is I realized that the touchscreen is still functioning. I had set the display to duplicate, and noticed I can still perform touch functions on the laptop screen that showed up on the 2nd monitor. I watched a screen replacement vid for this model to try and understand what's behind this screen. I'm hoping it may be a simple fix with a bad connection going on. It appears all the main connections are at the bottom center of the screen. Nothing near the spot I had to press to get it to work, but maybe I was still flexing enough in that area to affect the connections at the center. I can't... Read more

I cross checked my model via Lenovo Vantage and according to this https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Tablets_and_Convertibles/Yoga_730_15_Intel my machine is supposed to have the Anti-Glare screen but mine has glossy (I have multiple Lenovo laptops and Dell laptops with matte screens) the difference is night and day. I've repurposed my Yoga 730 15IKB as a mirror for the time being Does anyone from Lenovo wanna chime in on this? I spoke with LenovoSupport via reddit a while back and the representative said "your model with FHD has anti-glare and UHD has glossy" well I have FHD and mine is glossy.... then he didn't respond thereafter

I bought this laptop in January and I started having issues with network connections about 3 weeks ago along with the screen flickering. The screen: It only flickers when I watch youtube and HBO (in browser). I havent tried it with netflix or hulu yet. The screen doesnt flicker any other time. Not when I'm opening or closing the laptop and not when I'm browsing websites. It also does not flicker black. When I'm watching HBO, and there a scene where nothing is being said, and the screen flickers, you can breifly see subtitles and a scene that happened. It's like a quick flash of a frame from another part of the show. Same goes for youtube.  Network connection: I will be watching something and my laptop will start buffering for about 1 minute and then it crashes and says there was a netowork error, so I refresh and it says I have no internet, then it take about 10 minutes to reconnect. When I'm on youtube, my videos load a lot slower than they normally do and buffer and lose quality a lot, but I have not had my internet disconnect while on youtube yet. Ive been watching a lot of HBO so all of my occurances are mostly on there. I have had it disconnect countless times while watching HBO since im on there way longer than youtube.  I do not have any issues with connectivity on my other devices. I can watch Youtube and HBO just fine on my phone and desk top (I use chrome on Laptop and Desktop).  Ive been looking online and taking steps t... Read more

Hi everyone,

My laptop (a Dell D620) has developed an annoying issue.
Ever since I connected a projector into the spare VGA output on it the desktop icons move whenever I close the lid down during use or before its completely shut down.

The projector was running at 1024x768 as an extended desktop, and I have since checked all the settings in my display properties and NVidia settings, but nothing seems to be wrong there...

Any suggestions?

The fans of my Yoga 720 are always running. When it shuts down, the fans go on max until it's done shutting down, then when it boots up, the fans go on max again. It calms down for the few seconds it takes me to open up Google Chrome. Then it goes on max again. It doesn't matter whether or not I'm running an intensive program or literally just having 1 tab open in Chome, the fans are always on.  I obviously expect it to be running at max speed when I'm playing games but not when there's 1 tab open in Google Chrome. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how was it solved? I tried searching around and still didn't find a definitive answer so I really appreciated all the feedback that everyone has to give.

While the Community had a solution for the poor placement of the Right Shift Key on the 710, it cannot be applied on the 910. After installing KeyTweak and attempting to run it, I received "Run-time error '380': Invalid property value." I worked with Best Buy's Geek Squad for hours. They tried every keyboard remapping tool they knew of, and nothing worked. Since we know there can be a relatively easy software fix to this problem -- which is clearly angering many customers, and presumably hurting Lenovo's revenues and reputation -- could Lenovo Tech Support or Product Management please provide the fix?

I have seen posts regarding how to switch the PgUp with the right Shift key to correct the bad design of the keyboard (seriously very irritating!!!). But I was wondering if instead I can duplicate the Shift and use the PgUp as a shift as well and not using a PgUp (which I rarely use anyway).

Hello, I bought 2 Yoga 730 and the fan will drive me crazy, just when I install Chrome the fan starting to work. This is normal with this kind of model ? Love the laptop but the fan it's a real issue for me. Got the latest version of bios

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

Hello everyone, I have been having issue with USB, it is really annoying, that's why I would like to ask if someone has similiar issue with this laptop and whether someone knows how to fix this.  Laptop boots normally to the main OS on the SSD, everything seems to be working fine. However when I attach an USB device to the laptop, it acts little crazy. When I connect 1 or 2 devices on those USB ports on the laptop, they seems to be working most of the time (not always). However when I connect them to some hub (even self powered hub or Thunderbolt 3 enclourse with power supply) it acts ok, but sometimes it is having hiccups. For example, if i connect keyboard, the keyboard is typing fine but sometimes it randomly holds the key which was last pressed, but the keyboard is still being powered and is not bliking like it is loosing power. The main issue is with Windows To Go USB drive, which works on any other computer except this one. When I boot to the windows, it is good during idle, but when I try to intall something the drive goes to 100% activity time and 0 write 0 read and freezes. I have to replug the drive, but then it ussualy gets blue screen. Also if I'm coping something to or from any USB drive, which takes longer (also in the main OS) it freezes like this too.
