COM+ event and other problems, problem every time I start windows

Q: COM+ event and other problems, problem every time I start windows

I'm running Win 7 Home premium 64 bit on an iBUYPOWER Desktop:

Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8 GHz 2.8GHz
8 gigs ram
1 Terrabyte HD
ATI Radeon HD 5670
For a few months now, I've been having startup problems resulting in blue screens that usually say Memory Management problem. I've run the memory diagnostic on thorough with 7 passes with no errors. I've updated my BIOS. I have no driver errors or devices not working properly.

Most recently, I ran the problem reporting and got these errors:

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi all,

i tried loading the eventvwr.msc file from system32 folder directly as well as from the administrator tools, but i get:

"event log service is unavailable. verify that the service is running."

so i try to start the event log service, from the services.msc program;
whenever i try to start windows event log from services i get the message:

"Windows could not start the windows event log service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified."

how can i specify the path?
or
how can i resolve the problem?

any help would be appreciated please---thanks

A:HELP need to solve this problem asap - Unable to start event viewer/event log service

Fire up regedit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

With "Eventlog" highlighted on the left pane, you should be able to see a value called "ImagePath" on the right. ImagePath should be equal to this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted

If you can't see "ImagePath" in that location, or if it's not set to the text above, that's almost certainly your problem. If you're in the habit of using "registry cleaners", that might be the cause.

I was running 3DMark06 and got a BSOD code 124. After that every time I boot Event Viewer logs Error Codes ID 3012 and 3011. Attached are screenshots of both.

I googled this and found two different threads where someone suggested to rebuild the performance counters. Both responses were basically the same, below is one. Neither of the OP's came back and said if this worked for them.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Re: LoadPerf 3011, 3012
Hi-
I had the same problem with LoadPerf and here is what I found out:
All performance counter names and explain text are maintained in string tables managed by the performance counter subsystem (Perflib).

The current contents of the performance counter string tables are corrupted and cannot be displayed. To correct the problem, rebuild the string tables.

User Action
To rebuild the string tables, on the computer that displayed the message, at the command prompt, type Lodctr /r
The contents of the string tables are automatically rebuilt.

I hope this helps
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Since this was from 2008 (XP?) and the other response was for Vista I wanted to see if the guru's at SevenForums thought that this was okay before I did this.

Here are the screenshoots of my two errors.

A:After BSOD Event Viewer Logs Event ID 3012 and 3011 every time I boot

Rebuilding the string tables as outlined in my first post fixed the problem.

hi guys,
well i was installing an automatic update for windows overnight, then came back, my computer had restarted and the update hadnt been completed.
anyway when i tried to complete the update it kept stopping saying it couldnt be completed.
so that was that, but then my comptuer started going nuts.
i uninstalled XP service pack 2 to try and sort it out (ive had some problems since getting SP2), so it uninstalled it fine, and restarted in safe mode.

now i have a problem when im rebooting and logging onto desktop, im getting the desktop display picture(background picture), and then no explorer load up.
i try and run explorer.exe and i get the message:
'could not load event logger'

im also getting the repeated message 'windows has finished installing the software for your new devices, you must restart for the ..blah blah'.
when i uninstalled SP2 and it restarted in safe mode it went through announcing all my 'newly installed' hardware devices like ati card, modem, disk drives etc...
anyway so now i cant load windows and i want to back up some stuff and maybe just reformat or reinstall windows.

please help me out. and DAMN SERVICE PACK 2!!
lol.
thanks.

A:'Could Not load event logger' XP start up problem

ill add that i cannot access safe mode either because it loads up,then gives me the option of continue to safe mode or choose the recovery option, i click continue to safe mode and it just sits there.
then if i press alt cntrl delete it does the same 'event logger' message.

realy weird.
i just want to back up a few things then reinstall windows but i cant even get into safe mode

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I open Event Viewer - "Admin View" to see what Errors/Warnings are there and in the column - Date and Time only the date is showing. Same goes for all the other views.
The "Time" element seems to have completely disappeared.

Any idea where its gone........... and more importantly, how to get it back?

Thanks

A:Time stamp missing from Date and Time column - Event Viewer

Problem solved - but - I don't know why.

Solution:- I changed the Date/Time format from UK to US, opened Event Viewer and it was as it should be. Date & Time showing.
I then changed format back to UK, opened Event Viewer and , as above, the Time was back up.

If anybody knows what had happened I would be most interested.

My thanks to Bill............. from another site for helping me out with this one.

Slow booting.  Really slow booting.  Seems that using an SD card for ReadyBoot/ReadyBoost is causing the issue.  But why?
On investigation, this only started happening back in November, which coincides with the install of KB2685813 UMDF 1.11 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685813).
Could be a bit buggy....

I'll uninstall the update and see if this solves the issue.

Hmm.  Now that is interesting.
In my System event log I was getting an NTFS error (57: Failed to flush tlog).  I didn't think it was from my HDD, so using diskpart, I ran a 'CLEAN ALL' on my SD card, then recreated the FS as exFAT (previously it was NTFS).
Seems to be working now, although I'm getting VDS Basic Provider errors (Unexpected failure.  Error code:
[email protected]) "which can be safely ignored" (re: KB979391).
This begs the question: if it can be safely ignored, why is it raised in the first place?
Boot time is also restored to an acceptable timescale.

I've been having this problem for quite a while now. On the start-up of my computer, everything is running normally, until I sign in. There is no task bar, no icons etc. When I attempt to turn off my computer, it will tell me explorer.exe has crashed etc. So I then restart until it starts normal enough.

Now, it has been doing this for months, I have attempted to find a solution to this exact problem but to no avail. Another problem that started happening at the same time was the Theme service won't run on start-up no matter what I do. Although I'm not sure but I believe this all begun to happen when I was attacked by multiple spyware over the course of a couple days. I however thought I had removed them because all the problems such as not being able to connect to the Internet were gone as I ran multiple anti-spyware and malware. Recently while I have been in my documents in the videos section it has also crashed, usually it just restarts but sometimes it has not come back, leaving me to restart the computer. However this is only a new problem which may be a result of the large sum of files in my library.

If you could possibly assist me please do as the problem appears to get worse every time I attempt a registry repair, then it sort of doesn't happen as much, until a day like today when I cleaned my registry, and I had to start my computer 3 times to get it right.

P.S. I know it doesn't belong here, but another problem I have is when opening links on Google/Bing/e... Read more

Hello Everybody,
We have a requirement in our project to audit all security relevant events on the system, including the start/stop of auditing functions. The problem is that windows is not registering the start of event log service when you manually stop/start the service.
There only an audit event on the system log, but linked to the system startup and not under security category when you do the start/stop manually. Is this a windows bug or a matter of configuration?
Best regards,

Okay, I am a pretty technical user, and I am really struggling with this issue, and I wasn't 100% sure which section to post this in. I used to share videos over my network with multiple xboxs and a ps3. I recently installed Norton Internet Security on my system, and after doing so, I was not able to stream videos anymore. I tried changing firewall settings, and permissions and such, but could not get it to work, so I uninstalled NIS from my system. After doing so, the Windows 7 firewall service will not start. I have run the norton removal tool, and this has not fixed the problem.

but I can't figure out how to specify provider in the /f: parameter, and the example given if I run "eventvwr /?" does not help much.

I've recently installed Windows 7 on a new pc and am having 2 distinct issues.

The first is that I have found that I am unable to make many programs start with Windows. Avast will, as will AI Roboform and Open Office but other simply refuse to do so. My firewall (Look n Stop) for example has the option "Start with Windows". Checking the box has no effect, the program fails to start with Windows. This issue is repeated with a number of other programs e.g. Speedfan, Peerblock

In addition adding the programs to the Startup folder has variable success. The firewall for example does load on startup when added to the startup folder but neither Speedfan or Peerblock do.

The second problem is that I am registering the error "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: EIO_XP" in the Administrative Events section of Event Viewer.

I've searched everywhere and have been unable to find a copy of this driver. It appears to be associated with the ASUS Smartdoctor utility which I do not have. I did download and install it to see if that corrected the problem but it did not and I have since uninstalled it.

I am running Win 7 (64bit).

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Aangepaste DLL-bestanden worden voor elke toepassing geladen. De systeembeheerder moet de lijst met DLL-bestanden controleren en zorgen dat de bestanden gerelateerd zijn aan vertrouwde toepassingen.

Translation : Customized DLL-Files are loaded for each application. The system admin must check this list of DLL files
and make sure that they are releted to the trusted applications.

Searching with google I came accross ComboFix, I have installed it and run it and it came with a combofix.txt logfile.

After that, I found that I should not run combofix if there's no need to it. But that was to late!

For now , I still need someone to read that logfile (see below) to find out what's wrong with my DLL files,

many thanks in advange

Hello all

i m facing a very difficult problem

i installed fresh windows 8.1 x64 bit

since installation every time

when i start my pc , then usually motherboard picture displayed then my pc restart auto

and then my pc start normally

sometimes it shows BSOD ,

" Your PC ran into some problem & crashed . We are collecting information
You can search for only help : 'error name' . "

here's my dump file

please help

thanks in advance . Attachment 31653

A:BSOD , every time when windows start

G: drive only has about 7% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

Are you using a USB mouse and keyboard? If so, it's probably save to ignore these errors in Device Manager:

Standard PS/2 Keyboard ACPI\PNP0303\4&198C2624&0 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

Microsoft PS/2 Mouse ACPI\PNP0F03\4&198C2624&0 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

Out of 25 memory dumps there were 12 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please uninstall MSI Live Update (and MSI Afterburne... Read more

I changed the start up and exit sounds on my system running Xp pro and the wavs are running approximately 20 to 30 seconds long. The system cuts off the sound way before finish . I used to be able to use these wavs for the same thing without loss of sound but now since I have this new machine , the start up wav starts like normal but cuts off as soon as machine is up....like 4 secs. Is there something I can do to lengthen space in between to prevent cutoff of wav so I can hear it in full?

Will try to explain as best I can
Any help is appreciated

My pc seems to keep freezing majority of the time when I start up. Seems to start up desktop then begin to load, then after a few seconds just freezes. Very baffled as it has just started doing this since the other day. Originally I tried a defrag. virus and spyware scans and also a reg cleaner and that did nothing. Then I tried formatting and starting a fresh assuming that would sort the problem but alas, still locking up on startup. At the moment has only frozen on start up and not at any other time, eventually once it loads up without freezing everything runs fine.

I have also tried removing each piece of RAM at a time and restarting and still froze :-(

Doesnt appear to be fan related, as the fan doesnt seem to be struggling or making loud noises or anything. Although I wouldnt know what signs to look out for.

Not really sure what else I can try. Am worried it might cause more damage if i dont find solution asap.

specs: Windows XP Home with service pack 2
Pentium 4 3.06Ghz processor
1.50Gb of RAM

Please respond with any ideas etc. or email me at [email protected]

Cheers

Hello sushmit and welcome to Seven Forums.

I would try running a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If this doesn't help you may want to consider a Repair Install. This will try to fix your currently installed Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, personal data, programs, system drivers, etc. Usually the most major problem after a Repair Install is you'll have to visit Windows Updates and reinstall updates.

Hey all.

Here is my problem. Every time I start windows, it is like I am starting on a new profile. I still have my old desktop (not like when you start a new profile and you just get the standard desktop icons) but still all the programs react like they are being used for the first time.

I mean that I log in windows (only have 1 profile so no need to choose in the beggining), I open a program, lets say Firefox as an example, and it asks if I want it to be my default browser (although the first time I opened it I chose not to be default). Second example is when I visit an "encrypted" page I always get that little pop up message You are about to visit an encrypted page - your info will be transmitted ........

These are the stuff you get the first time you visit an encrypted page or the first time you open your browser. Same thing happens with other programs as well. It all started after I formatted my computer due to a virus I couldn't get rid of. Any ideas?

PS. It shouldn't be a virus/spyware cause I tested clean on both AVG and Ad-aware full tests. I know this doesn't mean much, I am just saying I don't think that's the issue.

Hi -

Hi Bugcheck 0x19 = bad pool header

If all was OK under XP, it is likely a driver is causing the problem.

Hi everyone,

I have encountered hangs and sound jammed while i was playing music and sleeping. It had happened over 4 nights so i decided to find a solution. I explored abit and found out from another forum that i need to update on my driver so i did, updated my realtek audio and network drivers. On the 2 following day, i finally did not encounter anymore hangs and sound jammed while sleeping. The music will just run as per normal. So i decided to let it have a final run and went out. However, when i reached him home, i found out my desktop hanged again, sound jammed, with yellowish and pinkish purple squares near to the sides of the monitor. I took a glimpse at the time and it was 2.39pm, which had jammed for 6 hours when i reached home at 8.30pm.

I took a restart and went to take a look at the event viewer and found out i have new error which is:

I have Windows XP, and have experienced a problem w/ my lap top. I just started experiencing this problem about 8 hours ago. When I put it on standby, and then try to turn it on again, the startup freezes at about the halfway point in the screen that says "Windows is restarting..." and has a progress bar on the bottom. When I shut off my computer and restart it, it freezes right after I type in my name and password, only showing my desktop background and nothing else pops up. If I start my computer in safe mode, I am able to start it up fine and run programs. I have run Malwarebytes as well as Combofix. When I get my computer to start, a Just-In-Time debugging window pops up all the time, saying "New instance of Microsoft Script Editor" and asks me if I want to debug. If I run Combofix, my computer is able to restart and Windows XP ends up completely starting when Combofix reboots my PC. Same thing happens if I try a system restore, I am able to successfully reboot my PC without going into safe mode. Also, when I run Combofix, I get a warning that says "There was a rootkit found", and it restarts my PC before scanning it. Every time I open my computer and go to the Desktop I encounter an alert dialogue box that shows nothing but a blank alert dialogue box with the warning icon (exclamation point inside a yellow triangle) and an "OK" option. Just that. No other message. The title of the dialogue box is Explorer.exe. When I click "OK" or close it (by clicking "X") the dialogue box appears again and insists for two or three times.

The weird thing is, last night the dialogue box has a message saying, if I remember correctly, "Explorer.exe not found." But I'm not very sure if that's exactly the message, since I just clicked "OK" (again for three times) and decided to fix it tomorrow morning. But now, the alert dialogue box is just blank. So I don't know what kind of error it's warning me now.

By the way, I'm using Windows 8, which crashes occasionally. Any help?

Hi. First off, thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Every time I start up my computer, I get the following message:

"Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused Windows Defender Service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support on how to start a service manually."

Then my internet connection is knocked out, then I get the following error message:

"ZeroCfgSvc MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Again, this happens EVERY time I start my computer. It's happened ever since I started using Roxio, which I subsequently tried to uninstall. I don't know if it's adversely affecting anything, but it's a nuisance, slows down my computer, and worries me that eventually it could lead to something worse.

Like I said, I'll be very grateful if anyone can walk me through the steps to remedy this.
