2 annoying issues since upgrading to windows 10 Typing issues

Q: 2 annoying issues since upgrading to windows 10 Typing issues

Hi, I am looking for a bit of advice if possible. I really don't know what to call my problems, and I don't know if its related to my laptop, or the upgrade.

Firstly, when dragging an internet page up or down, using the mouse pad (buttons work fine), the bar doesn't release for a second or so. I know this may not sound bad, but as I move to click something or whatever, it moves my page all over as it still thinks I am dragging the page, so any help on that would be great.

Also, when I search on the internet, through google or whatever, a lot of the time, when I type, once I look what I have typed, the first letter is always at the end of the sentence, so again, any assistance on that would be great.

I am using a samsung laptop, although I can't see that being the problem, as these issues didn't happen while on windows 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It appears your Mouse Setting have Click Lock enabled...

go into control panel > mouse setting > and verify click lock is off..

Also a lot of times you can enable click-lock by clicking the center wheel of the mouse

Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) and type exactly:
sfc /scannow

This will take a while to run and fix any corrupt any system file errors.

What anti virus software are you using and did you do a full scan?

Hi! Looking for help with some issues that developed after installing Windows 10....

Background: No problems with Windows 7. Had computer for 5+ years....held off on upgrading to Windows 10 in fear of problems, but was in queue to get the upgrade. Pop up would come up every so often to upgrade, but I dismissed the requests. Well, one of my kids must have accidentally allowed the upgrade to happen. I navigated the system & found no real issues, so I kept the upgrade to Windows 10. I noticed I had a problem with "permissions" on USB drives after I backed up my sister's old Iphone to my hard drive (she has no real computer for storage space). Anyhow, I was gonna put all of her pictures and videos on a flash drive to give to her for safe keeping. After I copied them over to the drive, I tried to look at them to make sure everything went over well. I recieved a "you don't have permission to view this file" message. I deleted everything and tried again. Same message. I'm thinking maybe Apple has some type of proprietary stuff embedded in the files so I just shelve the project for a while.

Fast forward to recently. I was trying to edit a USB drive that had music on it. It recognizes the drive, but it would not let me delete any files. I recieved another "permissions" message. I was able to copy files over to the drive, but I got "files already exist, do you want to overwrite". I clicked yes and the files were copied. ... Read more

I've got a computer with Vista 32-bit and it sucks so I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 7, but the installer does not launch it just hangs with the cursor and the little spinning circle. A:Having Serious Issues Upgrading to Windows 7

Using ComboFix on your own is not recommended. It is a very powerful tool and should be used only under supervision of a BC Malware expert.

You say that you have done some damage to Windows Vista files and that you had malware on Vista. At this stage, I recommend that you do a fresh install of Windows 7 rather than upgrading from Vista to 7.

Hello there everyone.
I've been working on a system for a little while now, and am ready to upgrade it to Windows 7 (currently running XP Pro SP3, and yes, it is capable of running 7) . Long story short, here are the issues that I am facing:
1. When trying to boot from the disk, the system skips over the DVD drive and goes directly to XP boot (even though in the BIOS, the DVD drive is the first boot option and even does so when I manually select to boot from the disk drive)
2. When trying to run the software from XP, the error message "Windows could not retrieve information about disks on this computer (even after populating the disk through Device Management)
3. This system, and all of my XP install disks, it seems, lack VDS.exe (which has never caused a problem in previous upgrades)
Anyhow, hopefully, there's something relatively simple that I am overlooking, as I've completed this process many a time before without a hitch and am at my wit's end with this system.
Cheers, and thanks in advance,

A:Issues upgrading to Windows 7

Two things occur to me.
(1)  Your Win 7 install disc could be faulty - rare, but has been known to happen. Try it in another computer and see if it will boot from that disc.

I've been working on a system for a little while now

I take it this means you have backed up any data you want off it, then,
(2)  Use either a self-booting Linux CD (Puppy comes to mind) or a partitioning disc like GParted to format your C:\ drive then run the installer. I have used Puppy several times in the past to good effect to recover data and check otherwise odd drives. I have no personal experience with GParted but people on BC whose opinions I trust speak highly of it.
Like you, I have updated computers from XP to Win 7 a number of times but I have never run into this problem myself.

Good Morning everyone,
I was refered by a friend to this website to seek advice and help with my issues
Our company has a few hundred pc's that need to be upgraded to windows 7 from currently Windows Xp Sp3.
We need to perform the upgrade process as there is just too many applications and drivers for the different departments and thier needs
We formulated the plan to upgrade to Vista Buisness --> Windows 7 Pro. (This can be done according to microsoft)
Last week we have been trying to install Vista Buisness (32bit) on these machines but we have encountered an issue where the process stops at 64% on compleating installation, at this time the pc restarts and rolls back to XP. It doesnt necessarily state why the upgrade failed but rather to check with the upgrade advisor(which are not that great btw).
- We know these machines are capable to upgrade to windows 7 as they are windows 7 ready to begin with but were imaged with XP.
After removing applications and drivers one by one which includded some of the core applications we needed and our anti virus program, the upgrade still failed at 64%
- Then on Friday i took a 'STOCK IMAGE' pc out of a box brand new and performed the upgrade and i was able to upgrade it to vista without any problem.

So i am not so what is causing the issue with the other pcs, i suspect it may be with one of the windows updates that were installed on the other machines, if so i need to find out which one ... Read more

Hello,I am having issues with my keyboard coincidentally after I had updated to windows 10. Right now my "6" key does not work and when I press the "5" key it just does the following "5666666666666666" and keeps repeating 6's forever. Also if I press the bottom left "ctrl" button it does the same exact thing as the number five key when pressed. I have ran windows troubleshooter, made sure my driver's were up to date and cannot fix the issue. Right now I am having to use an external keyboard to type this message. I am wondering if I am potentially looking at the keys being messed up or is it a windows 10 issue. Cause it works fine when typing with the on-screen keyboard and with an external keyboard. I messaged microsoft and they told me the following:Method 1:Try changing the Keyboard Layout to English (United States) type language in the search bar and try changing the keyboard layout and check if the issue persists. This is to check if this is caused due to Keyboard Layout related issues.Method 2:Try installing the Keyboard drivers in compatibility mode and check if the issue persists. This is to check if this is caused due to any compatibility issues. Now, to install in Compatibility Mode, follow these steps:a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) for the driver installation program.b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.c. A:Keyboard issues after upgrading to Windows 10

There is usually no driver associated with a built-in keyboard. It sounds like something is off with the hardware.
It's rather unlikely that the actual update to Windows 10 would cause this. It is possible that the connection between the "5" and "6" keys are shorted, and the computer stops typing "6" after a few times.
If you have a toothpick handy, run it around the sides of the 5 and 6 keys while the machine is powered off. It may clear any gunk holding the 6 key down.

Hey guys, I've been having some issues with latency issues recently. It all started after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7.

I have tried upgrading all my drivers, and even downgrading my Network driver thinking it might fix the problem, but to no avail.

I am a big online gamer, so you can understand the frustration. My ping sits around 19-20 but will spike up to anywhere between 50-80 for 5 seconds, then back down. This happens every 15-20 seconds or so.

I've left DPC Latency Checker running while I disable both my audio drivers, with no change, as well as my Network driver, and the issue still persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ! I don't know what more I can do at this point.

This issue is definitely on my end, because my desktop computer has no latency issues, so I don't believe it is my ISP, and the issues didn't start till I upgrading my OS.

I suggest you run Process Explorer and check which strings are involved (from Properties).

hello all .. I'm posting what worked for me to fix my monitor issue after upgrading to windows 8.1
I have a 2012 Toshiba laptop/notebook with an AMD Radeon Graphics card and AMD processor. Prior to upgrading to 8.1, I had no problems plugging in my VGA cable and duplicating or extending to a monitor. I could use any of 3 different monitors I have .. an LG HD Flatron, DELL flatscreen and a Phillips flatscreen.
I tried for days upgrading AMD Catalyst drivers, window 8.1 driver/update, considered reverting back to Win 8 .. and many of the forums seemed very helpful .. and one hinted at VGA cable incompatibility (thank you because this got me thinking in the right direction) but nothing worked no matter what monitor I used it remained black even though it seemed that Windows recognized there was a monitor there it just wasn't supported or unknown.
Short answer .. I got a $40 HDMI to VGA adaptor (because the monitor I want to use, the LG, doesn't have an HDMI port) and it worked. There was one small gliche in that the monitor would flash black every 30 seconds. I fixed this by changing the Monitor driver from an Analog based driver to a Digital based driver that just happen to come with the monitor software. So I guess this is the "digital" graphics version of Windows 8 and the analog VGA cables are no longer supported directly. I suppose if your laptop doesn't have a HDMI port you're completely out of luck with Win 8.1.
I hope this helps anyone else who is ha... Read more

I've just tried upgrading to Windows 10, and when it was complete, and I was working through the setup it asked me to find a network to complete the rest of the setup. In completing this step, my network was nowhere to be found. I tried searching for the network name, and tried hidden networks, but my network would not come up. I am in an apartment building, and there are a bunch of other networks to choose from, but mine is not there.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I downgraded back to Windows 8.1 because the network still works on 8.1.

I have a HP all in 1 Pavilion 23 desktop and was running windows 8.1. I pushed off upgrading to 10 until I heard about the return of the start menu. Once I heard that I went for the graded. However, i am have 2 problems.

1. My brightness is very low, being an all in one there is no physical button and the keyboard shortcuts down work. I can not find a brightness adjust in windows 10 in display or power management settings. (Updates graphic drivers did not help)

2. I have an external 500 gb hard drive I was using for backups. In 8.1 it held multiple backups without any issues. I tried to start a backup in windows 10 and half way through it says the hard drive is to small. The master drive has only 596 gb on it. After not backing up the OS and installed programs it should have plenty of space even without file compression of any sort. As on now I am not back up and it worries me.

Thank you for your help.

I get crackles and delays in audio (when watching videos online as well as in files offline). I have tried reinstalling drivers and disabling audio enhancements but that hasn't helped. I've tried a tool called LatencyMon and it points to the network drivers. One of the solutions is to set CPU minimum state to 100% (default value is 5%) but obviously this isn't a good solution.

My laptop is Acer Gateway NE56R (Pentium Dual Core B960 CPU, 4GB RAM)
Gateway website does not have drivers beyond Windows 8.1

LatencyMon Report hints towards ndis.sys (network adapter): http://prnt.sc/cj4ymg

UPDATE: It is confirmed that the wifi driver is behind this issue. Disabling the wifi adapter made the audio latency go away, but how do I find the right driver that won't cause this issue?

A:Audio Latency Issues since upgrading to Windows 10

Wi-Fi is a known cause of your problems. We had many posts on our sister Windows 7 and Windows 8 forums of this problem.
I did a Bing search and didn't come up with anything for this specific model, so I don't know if there are later drivers available for the Wi-Fi.

Having a 64 bit OS on only 4GB of RAM could be contributing to the problem. A 64 bit OS requires more memory than a 32 bit, thus less memory is available for other uses. A 32 bit OS would have been more appropriate on a PC such as this.

I am not a computer tech or anything of that sort, so please bare with me.

I have a Sony VIAO (VGN-FZ140E). I just recently upgraded from Vista Home Premium to a 7 x64. I am fully aware that MANY other people have been having the same problems (plus camera and touchpad issues). I scoured over the forum/internet, found drivers, but am still having issues.

I tried installing the Vista Memory Card Driver - to no avail (I had heard some drivers were still compatible, so I gave it a try).

I found a driver that was named "Memory Card Reader Writer Driver (TI) 2.0R -" installed it but that didn't make it work. I even tried rebooting my computer (and also reinstalling the driver). I've read that other people have installed this and it has worked. Am I just doing something wrong? Am I missing a step?

When that didn't work, I found a link on this forum that lead me to another zip file, containing all of the laptop's drivers: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORI...z1_drivers.zip. When I opened that file, there was no "setup" or "install" application under the folder listed as "Memory Card Reader". I looked in other folders and there were "setup/install" apps.... so I'm confused as to why this folder did not have it.

I am running out of options (and patience for that matter). ANY input will be greatly appreciated!!!

While in my office computer, through remote desktop, I have issues with location of words, flipping over to where the mouse is. Computer at work uses a VPN and XP, home computer uses XP / Media Player. While typing, the words/letters skip, hop, jump throughout the document, whether in E-mail / a report / anything that has anything to do with WORD. It is as though the computer recognizes both the mouse on my office computer as well as my mouse on my home computer, and that is what is confusing it. I have a steady cursor flash wherever the mouse is "sitting" and then I have the pointer cursor, as I type. When hesitating for a second, or even in the middle of typing a sentence, suddenly my next letter/word starts up where the steady cursor is flashing, instead of my location where I am typing. I sure hope this makes sense and you can help me with a solution. A 3 line report, E-mail or template can take me 45 minutes because of this issue. THANK YOU so much !!!

I recently purchased a Toshiba laptop on Black Friday in 2010. It has run great since then but now when you type on it, the letter are all jumbled up, the spacebar does not work and when you hit the backspace key it displays a w.

This happened when my wife was chatting in Yahoo. She typed in a WORD doc and it is doing the same thing. She has rebooted the PC, same thing. We are going to try hooking up another keyboard, but I was wondering if this may be a virus or if the keyboard has gone bad.

Note: Our 16 month old loves to ´type´ on it anytime she can get near it, much to our trying to stop her. Any chance she ´changed´ a setting on the PC by accident?

Any help is VERY appreciated.

Have you tried a Factory restore on the system? If there were a setting changed it would restore it to factory defaults. A warning though, you will lose all the programs and data files that you have installed or created since you purchased the laptop.

Apologies if this has already been asked/answered, couldn't find it after a quick search.

When I type in Windows 10 on pretty much anything - chrome, open office, celtx (writing software) - the cursor will frequently jump to a random point, could be the middle of a word or the space between paragraphs. This is obviously quite annoying, even more so as I'm a writer and it means I can't do my job properly.

Also, sometimes when I open a web page it will highlight sections of the page, like I've clicked and dragged across the page, even when I haven't.

I've tried to update drivers but it says they're all up to date. I will try that again but any one with any suggestions, well, I'm all ears.

It's happened about 5 times just typing this out and a new one just happened where it jumped to the 'additional options' box at the bottom like I'd clicked on a tick box (I hadn't). And no I'm not leaning on the touchpad or doing anything stupid like that. 100% software problem.

I just installed the Arabic keyboard through the Control Panel->Keyboard settings.

Arabic is written right to left unlike English. When writing on Microsoft word, the letters were written in the correct order, but the words are not being place in the correct order i.e. the next word is being placed to the right of the previous word when it should be on the left. The cursor is the correct type for right to left typing.

I'm having the exact same thing on my Dell laptop. Are there any answers? The Dell has a Touch-pad disable button on top row to left of 'Insert' key.

I'm having the exact same thing on my Dell laptop. Are there any answers?
1) Please don't bump old posts. If you have a problem, start your own thread. Help will come faster that way usually.
2) This is almost always caused by the fact that the user of the laptop accidentally hits their trackpad with their wrist while typing, causing the cursor to move and click someone else, losing focus of the text box they were typing in. Some laptops are more prone to this due to their design.
The solution is:
1) Be more careful and don't hit the trackpad.
2) Use a mouse and disable the trackpad.
3) Disable trackpad's tap-to-click feature (if possible).

I have a HP desktop which is a little over a year old. I use AVG free security and Firefox as my browser.

I have noticed over the past few weeks that lots of things seem to be running slowly. If I am typing, the letters fail to appear on the screen immediately - there can be a few seconds delay. Likewise if I click for a new tab it doesn't open straight away and I can also get a spinning blue circle when i try to load a new page a tab or link. The tower seems to be active almost constantly - there's always a little processing noise coming form it. I've run CC cleaner and I have no viruses.

What can I do to improve performance?

PS I'm not a techie so please explain simply and clearly any suggestions you might have.

I've been having several issues with my computer over the past week or so, mostly in the way of opening folders and menus. The following is a detailed listing of the issues I've been experiencing:

1. When I open the start menu and move my cursor over the "Recent Items" button or the bottom right arrow that opens up a menu for restarting, logging off, shutting down, etc. the start menu automatically closes.

2. On my desktop, I have my account folder. When I began noticing the problem, when I double clicked the folder the properties appeared instead of the folder opening. Now when I double click it, an error message comes up that says, "The properties for this item are not available." Any other folder I try to open up this way makes the properties appear (save for the left side drop-down menu when exploring folders). Also, if I try double clicking on programs and/or applications, nothing happens save for a swirly loading cursor appearing beside my mouse which disappears in less than a second with nothing else happening.

3. Any time I try to type in my word processor, various keys cause menus to pop up ("W" makes the "Window" menu drop down, "H" makes the "Help" mnenu drop down, etc.). If I try to save a file by typing in its name, no letters appear.

4. Right clicking either doesn't work or causes a menu to come up for a split second and then disappear. This happens no matter where I right click.

A:Having Various Issues With Viewing Menus and Typing

It sounds to me like your Alt button is broken, so as to be always pressed. If you have a tower desktop, try disconnecting the keyboard and see whether the problem disappears. Obviously if that is the case you'll need a new keyboard; it's kind of hard to use a computer without one.

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

Around 5 months ago, I purchased a new laptop (lenovo yoga 2 pro). The laptop has been great overall minus some scaling issues. It's snappy and everything. However, in the past 3 months I've experienced some serious slowness with the Chrome browser
1. Often times when i type into the address bar, the characters come out slow and laggy
2. Opening new tabs can lag as well
3. When i scroll down pages I often see the checkboarding effect. I imagine this is a placeholder while Chrome loads the rest of the content, but my internet speed is fast enough that it shouldn't be doing this.
4. Youtube works fine, but any other video site (apple trailers for example) lags as well. When videos play the actual video is sort of in slow motion while the audio plays at the normal rate.
5. Google maps is the slowest I've ever seen it. It takes forever to zoom in or do anything.
I've run virus and malware scans (spybot,  malwarebytes, SAS) but nothings coming up. I've also noticed similiar issues in Firefox as well.
I've also reinstalled Chrome a few times, but to no effect. This is kind of frustrating and I don't want to reimage my computer yet.
Any suggestions?

I made the mistake of cleaning my keyboard while it was on, now I have some screwy setting on!  Please help.  For example, any time I hit a lowercase s, it takes me town to the bottom of the screen.  Any time I put a w, it starts a new paragraph!  I am not sure what I did, but I am guessing it is an easy fix.  Can anyone help?   Thank you!   Matt

I am running Windows 8.1. After restarts, the laptop screen would be blank, yet the computer would load. If I hooked up a 2nd monitor, it would show the desktop on that screen but laptop screen blank.

Now when I try to type on that computer (I'm currently on a different computer) the typing of the keys is all off (none of the letters actually type what they are supposed to and some open up random windows and command prompts)

I am wondering if this is a virus. Currently running Malwarebytes. I did a system restore earlier and the problem wasn't solved.

A:Blank Screen error and typing issues

Could be a virus, but could also mean the motherboard is faulty. If still in warranty, RTM.

Does the laptop have a bootable CD reader? If so, then download and make a bootdisk of a small linux (e.g. puppy linux). Booting off that will virtually prove if the motherboard is faulty or not.

Recently my s940 has just started having issues. mainly that the cursor will move but leave an image of where it came from and the typing stutters and lags a bit. There is also a grpahical issue where windows will load in strips vertically across the screen until you scroll.

A:Cursor stuttering, typing lag and graphic issues

Start with the first solution and work your way down the list until you find the one that works for you. Reinstall the mouse driverUpdate the graphics card driverCheck the local area network settingsEnd Realtek audio.Other options1) Disable Cortana. Many users have reported that disabling Cortana helped fix  their freezing mouse. 2) Disable ATI HotKey Poller service. Many user have also reported that ATI Catalyst drivers including an ATI HotKey Poller service can cause mouse lag in certain system configurations. If you don?t need the ATI hotkeys, just disable this service. Here?s how you can do it:a) Press the Windows key and R at the same time, type services.msc in and press Enter. b) Locate ATI HotKey Poller service on the right side of the window. Then double-click it. c) You?ll be in the Properties window. Change the Startup type to Disabled. Then click Apply and OK. d) Restart your computer. 3) Don?t use USB hubs to connect your mouse. Directly connect your mouse and keyboard to your computer via the ports at the back of your PC to ensure you get the best performance. 4) Try to temporarily disconnect other USB peripherals, such as a digital camera, USB disk drive and so on. This will help you confirm whether this problem is caused by device conflicts.  Regards,Adrian

When I create a basic table in Ms Powerpoint 2003 with 2 colums/2 rows, some letters are sometimes spaced properly and sometimes not:

For ie, the word "Settlement" in the attached powerpoint document -> The 1st time Settlement is typed, there is no issue
at all. But the 2nd time it is typed, the letter <t> and the letter <l> are squizzed together. Then the 3rd time it is typed, it is fine. Same issue occurs with other words (for ie the word <test> may be fine the 1st time it is typed, then you type it a 2nd time, you get that issue of the letters <s> and <t> squizzed together.

See the attachments (they are the screenshots of the issue)

(x)Changed her MS Windows profile = same issue

(x)Re-installed MS Office 2003 = same issue

(x)Tried in MS WOrd or Excel = it is fine in Word + Excel. So problem is with power point

There is also a grpahical issue where windows will load in strips vertically across the screen until you scroll. Something i did notice is that intel utility was reccomending a graphics driver update but upon trying to do that it said it was not validated for this machine as it is not reccomended in lenovo's update utility. I have manually installed the driver but that causes far more issues graphically. it definetely feels like there is a driver issue Updating via lenovo website has still not fixed this despite it being fine last week.

Shortly after upgrading/updating some out of date software on this machine I noticed the typing cursor looks doubled up, like there is either a corrupted file, or some kind of recording type software running. I have a networked Win Xp sp3 machine that uses Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. The other pc's on this network don't seem to be affected that I can see. Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem acc... Read more

I knocked over a small glass of water on my laptop last night, most of the water skirted off. I dried the computer by taking the keyboard out, opening the case from one side and using a hairdrier on low.

Here are the problems: Keyboard is typing by itself, types double letters/number and some keys dont work at all. I tried reseating the cable, but this did not help the problem.

Power - The main power button does not work. I can get the pc to power on by taking the battery out, unplugging the power cord from the back, then plugging it back in. If the battery is in or the pc has been shut down without the battery installed and with the power cord in, the pushing the power button does not power on the pc.

Please let me know how I can approach fixing these problems.

A:Spilled water on laptop, keyboard typing by itself/incorrectly/NAA and power issues

and the laptop is HP? anyway, we need the model name.
what would you do if you spilled some liquid on keyboard?
1. shut off the unit immediately!(that means, plug out AC cord and battery as faster as you can).
2. turn it upside down(if it's possible open it and lay it on the table upside down, thus the liquid won't spill LCD module).
3. after some time, start to disassemble it fully and clean inside the laptop.

in your case, the liquid is already damaged power chains inside the laptop, and you'll have to fully disassemble it and clean!
