I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

That means nVidia display driver, whereas it is updated only a few hours ago, right?
I would suggest you to shift to an older driver which works perfectly.

At the same time, try these two also:

I currently have 3 video cards available to use in my system: (all geforces) MX440, 6200, and 7600GT. The MX440 works fine, besdes being old and slow. But both of the newer cards have been giving me severe headaches.

6200: The first problem I encountered when I first installed it was that movie files would lock my system. Also, certain effects in some games would reduce my framerate to about 1. Some examples: any monitors in Doom 3, sparks or flashing effects in Half-Life 2, opening movies or animated logos at the launch of several different games. This was using DirectX 9.0c and the latest NVidia drivers at the time. After trying older NVidia drivers I was able to solve the movie file problem by using version 84.21. However all of the game problems still occured.

7600gt: The game problems listed above never showed up on the 7600, but the movie file problem did. Unfortunately, the NVida driver version 84.21 won't install with this card, so I can't get around it this time. Also, a couple of new problems in games have showed up. Particle effects will often show the full polygon of the particles in opaque colors, rather than blended/transparent colors. So, for example, in X2: The Threat, ship contrails appear as hundreds of white and blue sticks tumbling out of the engines, instead of gas or smoke. Similarly in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, instead of motion blurs following the movements of blades, I leave a trail of the same type of 'sticks'. And most ... Read more

My first move would be to try the cards in a different system to see if you can isolate the issue.

Ok--here's the deal. I have an NVidia GT 6600 video card with dual monitor output. The problem is that I want my Plasma desktop to be bigger icons (i.e., 800 by 600) while keeping my flat panel monitor (the primary monitor for the computer) as a higher resolution since obviously we are sitting farther away from the Plasma and need those icons and text bigger. Now I can independently change the screen sizes with the Nvidia, but the problem is then on the plasma I only see about 60% of the screen of course because its keeping the same setup as the higher resolution but zooming in on it. In other words, for the desktop to fit in the plasma, it has to be the same resolution as the flat panel or at least close to that same resolution.

My MOBO has a slot for a second video card--will a second card allow me to indepndently set the resolutions so that I can actually re-arrange the desktop on the Plasma (i.e., the icons would have to go further horizontally and shorter vertically with the lower resolution.

Hello all,
machine - XPS 720
It's a monster of a machine (in size only). A friend of mine has asked me to reformat it with win 7 for his daughter's birthday (today). That would be fine, but I can't get a screen picture. The screen shows absolutely nothing. No signal what so ever. I must add that the thing has had an extra graphic card installed so there are four options for connection on the back. When attaching the DVI cable to some of the four, the machine beeps when powering up (or whatever it is doing, the screen is black) but shows no picture from any of the four outputs.
On a couple of occasions i have just let the thing remain on for a little while, just in case, and it also has a tendency to just shut down from two of the screen connections. With the remaining two it just stays on.
If anyone could offer some insight I would be truly grateful - as will the little girl next door. Sorry for the emotional blackmail.  It's all a bit odd.

Last night i went to upgrade my Dell Dimension 8200 video card with a GeCube ATI Radeon X1650 512mb DDR2 video card with no success. First I removed the old video driver for the orginal nvidia card. Shut the computer down removed the original video card and then instlled the new card. When I went to boot up the computer it would not fully boot and the monitor recieved no signal. I reseated the card a few times and still no boot or video feed coming through. I then proceeded to put the old video card back in and still no boot or video signal. All that turns on are the fans and the cd roms. My final attempt to make sure my computer was not toast I started it with no video card in the slot and it booted right up from what i can hear since i dont have any video / monitor hooked up. It goes through its usual sounds and boots up fine. Any thoughts?

I have a computer that has 2 GB of RAM at 1066 MHz which is 1 yr. old, when I use google chrome, firefox and CS5 at the same time it only uses 61-65% memory, its weird that you only have one page open on chrome and it uses 200 MB memory, Are your browsers up to date? If not update it. I think it has something to do with your RAM, probably you have a memory leak from what I know. What are the extension and add-ons in your chrome that is using that much RAM? I have 32-bit W7 when its idle it uses 20% memory.

Fire fox and Aviator works ok.

A:Opens 6 windows when click on internet (google crome)

Do you mean tabs or windows?
If tabs...
Close all but the tab with the URL you want to open as your start window.
In the upper right, (below the [x] to close Chrome),
you will see an icon that is three horizontal bars.
Click this. (Left click!)
Go down to "settings" (near the bottom of the list), Left Click.
It will open a new tab.
In the second section (On Startup) you will see three options.
The third is "Open a specific page or set of pages".
Left click the link to "set pages"
Left click the button that says "use current pages"
and your current "list" will clear and become only the tab you have open.

Ok, so there seems to be a pattern where I either open a link with new tab and the comp crashes, watch a certain video, open a certain link, click a certain image, also typing something can also make it crash.

I've left the computer on idle for over 12 hours and it did not crash, I've also been on the computer for roughly 8-12 hours without going on the internet and it did not crash. As soon as I start opening new tabs or clicking different links of various sites thats when it starts to crash, yesterday when I was using Google chrome it was okay for a long time, but at the last moment it decided to crash but only once. I've noticed that when using firefox it crashes more often, its only crashed twice when I was using chrome, for firefox much more.

When I am watching web video - news site video (CNN, WSJ, FOX) or YouTube, a few minutes into it, my system restarts. Also, but less frequently, I get random restart on browsing with both IE8 and FF.

See my profile for specs - basically Win7 32 bit OEM on a 5 year old P4 system. Its fully patched.

I thought it might be my Avast and Ad Aware so I uninstalled these and installed MS Security Essentials. Its fully patched too. I have updated my video drivers and installed an MS Codec update.

The restarts are still happening.

The case gets decent air flow and I even slipped the side panel off, blew out some dust. The CPU temp seems fine so I dont think its a thermal warning.

I tried the instructions to generate a minidump file, but no luck. The zip file has all my settings re: minidump as per the thread. See word doc in zip file.

I am open to suggestions. Please see attached.

Hello all,

I've had this laptop for about 3 months now. I was browsing the web today and watching Twitch.tv while I suddenly received a BSOD with the error message "Bad_Pool_Caller" in it. This is the first time I've received a BSOD on this laptop so far, but I have had a few computer freezes due to what I think was strenuous gaming activity which I believe was caused due to the CPU overheating, since it was reaching temperatures of over 85C according to HWMonitor. Anyway, I'm not sure if the BSOD is related in any way, shape or form to the freezes I've had so I'll just disregard them for now. I just thought I'd add that information if it helps and is at all relevant.

Thank you for your time and I appreciate any help offered.

That is your Atheros driver written for - TP-LINK 150Mbps Wireless Lite N Adapter. As you can see, the driver is pretty old. Go to the Manufacturer of your card's web site and see if you can find a more current driver for your card. You can look at Download - Welcome to TP-LINK, but you would fare better getting it from the Manufacturer's web site. Some companies make changes to their cards and drivers, so the one from the maker's site won't work.

Hit by the BSOD, started out as a rare occurrence then became more frequent.
Usually occurs when video or just an audio file is playing.
Tried updating the video driver but that didn't help (tried it 3x). I should mention during the update process after the restart portion I received a message box "failed to load dll". After clicking the OK box the update would then continue and install. Even got the BSOD during one attempt of the driver reinstall.
So I'm still thinking i got an issue with the video card either driver or hardware, but I'm not ruling out other possibilities just yet.

Ran memtest and my RAM seems fine.
The towers well ventilated and nice and cool

Solutions, Suggestions, Opinions, Help appreciated.

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

it is very foolish to post a private email online unless you like spam.

second, have you considered the cost of mailing? also you are dealing with complete strangers - some of whom may not be honest.

So its been a good month and some weeks since my last BSOD crash. Now I've had two today in a short timespan of each other some 20 minutes before posting here and while doing the same thing:
Browsing in google chrome. EG: Opening a tab, reloading a page, etc...

don't know what causes it but must be something I'm doing in chrome or an other program not playing nice?

Either way putting a halt to browsing until this is sorted out.

Edit: After replacing my sticks with a newer version of my sticks it went off with bluescreens almost each hour while i was playing League of Legends (new dump files in the attachments).

Hello and welcome LeftWild mate some system specs really are necessary for us to help you System Info - See Your System Specs I know they are posted in the dump files you sent but it means digging through them and it takes an awful lot of time to do that when we can just click on the system specs at the bottom and see.

Now there seems to be some issues with the memory in the dump files so please run memtest for at LEAST 8 PASSES it must be that many because it takes that many to pick up problems. It takes a long time and many leave it running overnight - it depends on how much RAM you have in see pic for what you will see if errors come up.
Download this and make the disk bootable MemTest86 - Offical Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool

Hi, I have been having a very odd and frustrating BSOD/videocard problem.

About a year age i bought a computer from Cyber Power PC. After a few months of trouble free use it began to give me some problems. At totally random times the screen would display a strange patern of colors that looked like a "garbled" version of whatever the screen would display during normal use. It would also sometimes bring up an error message that the nvidia driver had quit responding but had recovered. Sometimes the computer would suddenly turn black on the display and need to be restarted. Upon restarting, the computer would bring up an error message. It listed a BCcode124 as the cause of the crash. It seems that this would sometimes happen shortly after startup or while on the internet. Strangely, it did not happen while i was playing a game or doing something that might strain the system. As time went on, this began to happen more frequently, especally the screen going blank.

I called tech support and they sent me a new videocard(a month later). Unfortunaetly, the problem started happening with the new card about a week after i installed it. At this point i had already tested the RAM one stick at a time, updated the drivers, reinstalled windows 7 and changed to a spare sound card in an effort to isolate the cause. But the problem continued. Blank screen and sometimes a BCcode 124 on restarting. So, I again called Cyber Power PC tech support. I talked to a tech who told me it was... Read more

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a second hand MSI Radeon 7950 Twin Frozr OC Boost edition GPU, where previously it had a EVGA GTX 560 Ti. I got home from the purchase and I had played a couple of games of Dota on the night of the install - it played great, maxed settings etc. After my two games it did the blue screen of death (it was really quick like no longer than 2-3 seconds).

After it rebooted I watched a movie and loaded up steam - again it went BSOD. The next day it starting more intermittent BSOD restarts of the computer, whatever the activity on the computer - browsing, media player etc etc.

This has been my situation for the weekend (purchased the second hand card on Thursday).

Not 100% sure if my system specifics are required but here they are anyway just in case:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 Bit
CPU: i5 2500k
Mother Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. P67A-UD3R-B3
GPU: Msi 7950 Twin Frozr OC Boost Edition

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gig (2X 4gig sticks) 1600Mhz CMZ*GX3M2A1600C9B
Computer Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower Case.
Thanks so much for helping me out and sorry if I take too long to respond.

Hi everyone,
I've been facing alot of BSOD lately and it's beginning to piss me off. I have no idea what might be causing it apart from the RAM but here are the minidumps, I don't know what to do with them or how to read them so it will be great if someone could help with this. It happens mostly when more then 5 tabs are open in chrome but also they happen randomly like listening to music / watching movies etc.

The BSOD is caused by the Realtek network driver.

I have had 5 blue screens since I reinstalled windows from a update that did not install properly, also aswell as getting blue screens on the last install of windows 10, but I don't have the Mini dumps for that install. Usually the computer will blue screen when I'm on chrome but I think it has happened while playing Overwatch I'm not sure. Most of the time I will be watching youtube and the sound will repeat and the blue screen will happen.

Also nothing is overclocked and I have done memtest's and no errors occur. Sorry if I'm not clear or concise im not very good at explaing these things.

Welcome hosolon to the forum, I had a look at your files and there are a few things that may be causing the problem here:

First pleas update you network driver:

NETwNs64 Sun May 01 17:33:01 2011 (4dbdd18d) 0083e505 None NETwNs64.sys
you can find updates for it here:

Intel Download Center

next please uninstall Daemon tools it is a known causer of BSODs, once it is uninstalled download and run this tool:

when the tool runs if the uninstall button is grayed out then your done and you can close the window, if not then please cluck it and let the tool run. DO NOT click the install button it will install a driver that is known to cause BSODs.

Last please update your video card driver it is very old:

Hi ,
Just wondering, is it my luck? that is the fourth flash memory SD card I try for first use and it gives me memory card error right after inserting it , I used to devices for reading: card reader in my HP officejet printer and Canonpowershot camera.
Cards are:
Patriot signature class 4 4gb
Kingston class 4 8gb
Kingstion micro sd with adapter
last one today Transcend class 10 8gb
I have a old kingston 2 Gb still working fine in the camera and in the HP printer.
I tried all the recovery software I could find to try to format it but the cards are not recognized.
I insert the cards unlocked for first use to format them at first but I can't reach this stage since I have memory card error right away.
I don't know what to do, I find it ridiculous to continue buying cards that won't work.
Any suggestions, ideas would be appreciated.

Hi there,

My computer came with a VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP card, which is apparently a Graphics/Video Card with onboard video (or the other way around, video w/ onboard graphics) Now, this is a terrible card- it can barely play any modern games. I want to get a new graphics card, but I'm concerned if I install a new Graphics Card, that because of the onboard video, it will affect this greatly, or if I actually need a video card instead of graphics. What do I actually need, and will it adversely affect anything on my PC.
