I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I am unable to power on my IDEApad Flex 14 laptop. Upon pressing the power button, the fan spins for 2seconds, the power led stays on for about 7 seconds and then turns off. The power led continues like this infinitely but never powers on.  I have reset the cmos, removed the battery and verified all cables to the mobo are secure,  removed and reapplied the cpu thermal paste. Anyone have any clues as two what this flash on then off is? I imagine it's the motherboard's method of providing a diagnostic code but the service manual simply states a flashing power led is the computer in sleep mode. The novo button has no effect except to power on the pc to which it goes into the same flash on flash off. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, My computer, a 2012 T430, is running at 16W according to power manager at idle, with no program running, in airplane mode and brightness at minimum. My consumption when I got the PC was perhaps at 8W when doing some light work (such as using word) as it could last for about 12 hours with a 90kWh battery. Now, with my battery (granted not new, it has 45kWh remaining), my computer lasts no more than 2 to 3 hours in the same conditions.  I tried disabling the nVidia graphics card, and deleting its driver. I replaced the fan and cleaned up the computer as much as I could and installed an SSD (samsung 850 evo) rather than the original HDD, which means that I also did a clean install of windows 7. Anyone facing the same problem or have any solution? Thanks in advance !Cheers,Florian

I.I have an lenovo y50-70 that i like very much. The only problem i have with it, is that if i play forex gta v, or doing other things that makes the computer work hard, the power button starts to flash and it is stopping to charge. It happens all from about 5min to 30min after i have started to play. If i pull the plug and put in in again, it does not flash anymore, and i can play for a while before it starts to do that again. Noticed that the plug i put into the computer to charge it, gets very warm. This problem does not come if i just use the computer for surfing on the internet, watching netflix or similar, only if the computer has to work hard. Is it the charger that can't deliver enough power to charge it or what could my problem be?What does the power button flash mean? Thanks!

I bought this a couple of years ago from a local computer store. It's been very reliable and I run Ubuntu 16.04 Linux on it. This afternoon I had a power drop of a second or so and since then when trying to boot the issue in the subject happens. I can get to boot as usual by pressing the power supply test button which gives me a green light on the power supply and then pressing the power button will let it boot normally. I don't have any version of Windows installed so it's not possible to run any diagnostic unless there are some Linux based ones.
Thanks for any help

A:Dell Optiplex 780 MiniTower, power light flashes amber diagnostic lights 1 & 3 flash

Blinking Amber power: Initial state of light at power up. Indicates system has power, but the POWER_GOOD signal is not yet active. If the Hard Drive light is off, it is probable that the power supply needs to be replaced. If the Hard Drive light on, it is probable that an onboard regulator or VRM has failed. Look at the diagnostic lights for further information.
1+3:  Memory modules are detected, but a memory configuration or compatibility error has occurred.
You could try resetting BIOS to see if you can clear the error.

Reboot and press F2 to open BIOS setup
Copy down all current BIOS settings
Power off, unplug
Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
Open case and remove motherboard battery
Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
Reseat RAM modules in their slots
Reinstall battery- good time for new CR2032 coin cell, if this one is old
Close case and reboot

If that helps, go back into BIOS setup, and confirm that all settings match what you wrote down. Be sure to save any changes before exiting setup.

Hi, I've never used this site before but I came across it in google, when somebody else had a similar question.

The problem started like this. If I switched on the driver, the light of the monitor would light green (like it is supposed to), but then, after roughly three seconds the green light would disappear and the screen would turn off. If I left it for an roughly an hour, I could turn the monitor back on and it would work like a regular monitor, with no problems what so ever.

This was about a year ago, and since then I've moved house, and the problem has risen again. However, it has progressed even further. If I turn on the monitor, it will do the same as before (turn back off), but now it turns on and off and so on. The flashing won't end unless I turn the monitor off myself. No matter how long I leave it (and I have been very patient), it won't resume like normal.

My computer is a HP invent Windows XP. Thanks for reading, can anybody please help me?

A:Monitor flashes on and off continuously

you can always try a different monitor & see if that fixes the issue.
it also seems like your video card is going out or your cable connection between monitor & pc is not secured.
simple solution is to try a different monitor with a diff cable for connection. if you have an extra one or u can barow one from a friend jsut for testing.
if the second monitor does the same thing, then it's a pc issue (video Card) which i think it's an integrated card.
if that's the case, you will need to contact HP if the pc under warranty, or buy a new video card
please let me know how this turns out.

Hi everyone

Sorry but my first post is a request for help

My dear old laptop 80% of the time is so slow it's basically unuseable. When it is running slow the disc light is continually flashing. This can happen from startup and after a while the disck light will go off and the laptop will be ok for a while until the disc light starts again. I'm using chrome and as far as I can tell the problem is not affected by what load I'm placing on the machine.

I recently had a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate and as far as I know it's fully up to date. Previously it was running Vista and had the same problem - I was hoping the win7 install would sort it out.

One thing that puzzles me (but may mean nothing!) is that when I look at the disc device properties it lists -
capacity 14472mb
unallocated space 1mb
but the disc has 78.3gb free space.

I've checked that the disc drivers are up to date and not sure what to check for next.

I'd really appreciate some help and thanks in advance.

A:FujitsuAmilo XI1526 Laptop VERY slow - disc light flashes continuously

Since you only have one Gig of RAM, that is one reason. That is the minimum. Post a screen shot of your Disk Management and I can check it to see if your files are correct. Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

Hi everyone,

My pc just shut down this morning. I had a spare power pack- brand new and I fitted that.

Windows ran perfectly for 10 minutes then the same thing happened again!

I noticed on both occasions, that even after I had removed the extenal power lead, the green power 'on' light kept on flashing on/off.

I have never noticed that before when a power pack 'blew'.

Does anyone think I was unlucky with a 'duff' replacement power pack?

Is the flashing power light indicative of some oother fault?

Any and all help welcome. PLEASE!

Many thanks.

I replaced a Compaq board that burned with another from Geeks.com. The boards are similar in that they use the Compaq front-panel connections and support the same socket-478 processors.

They are different in that the old board uses SDRAM and the new, DDR and the new one has on-board video and the old did not and the new one has a twenty-pin power connector and the old one had 24-pin.

It is with the 20-pin/24-pin difference that I think my problem lies.

Here's what I did: I reasoned that many power supplies have 24-pin connectors and you simply let the additional pins 'hang off' (unconnected) when connecting that twenty-four pin connector to a twenty-pin board. So, that's what I did in this case except this was the power supply that came originally with the computer.

It won't power up at all.

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

The Computer was originally a Compaq Presario 5000 (5SPXE1) with Intel chipset.

A possibility!! Securnia informed me of issues with Flash, I deleted it with Revo and reloaded the newest version. Hello everyone, I'm new to this community but an old user of the T line since its inception. My problem is very rare. For example I could be doing watching you tube or just web browsing or playing a game and it will do it randomly without me predicting when it will. When it flashes it is brighter than the screen brightness like a camera taking a picture with the flash on.

The laptop does not move and has always sat on the table.
I have been trying to figure this since I had the laptop which is probably a few years old. I have a Dell XPS 17 (l702).

Basically it does not flash often but maybe do it 1-2 a few days and I can't find where the fault lies. I do not know if it lies with the software or hardware side. I have checked the event viewer but nothing seems related or errors.

Okay so this only happens every so often and I'm not sure what the trigger is, except for the fact that it's definitely during a flash video.

No particular site does it, it's happened while watching video on both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

It definitely doesn't happen all the time, it's random. I watch tons of flash videos and it just comes out of nowhere.

So suddenly the monitor will go black and displays "No Signal" then "VGA" and then slowly flashes in the screen I was on, but the screen only bleeds in slowly and sometimes not fully, I can't really move my mouse or do anything. It's acts like the CPU is clocked at 100%...then the monitor shuts off again, until I move my mouse around or CTRL-ALT-DLT to bring up option to Task Manager and slowly bleeds back in again like before but then goes black again.

When I do bring up Task manager, I have been able to check and it says 0-1% of the CPU is being clocked, but it sure doesn't act like it. I can't do anything but force shut the computer off and reboot.

I have a Gateway, Intel Core i3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine.

Hello everyone, How can I insert alt+ characters on T430 keyboard? For example, if I wanted to insert en dash on my regular desktop keyboard, I would press alt+0150 (on numeric keyboard). However, I cannot find the right combo on my thinkpad keyboard. Thanks for your help, Srdjan

A:Alt+ characters on Lenovo T430 keyboard

In order to execute those ASCII/ANSI codes, you must have NumLock on.  The involves the Fn (blue) key.  With it on, you then use alt  = the small numbers located on the lower right coner of keys to the right of the Trackpoint head.  This is not easy.  I prefer to run charmap.exe, minimize it to the task bar, and copy/paste the characters I need. I don't know if the old standard way (Num Lock On, ALT+nnn) would work with an external full keyboard.

Bought one of these on ebay and the battery dies after 20 mins from full after being unplugged from charger- what the heck is going on?- Have I been sold a dodgy laptop?

Read other answers

I originally bought this off eBay about 2 years ago. The only issue it has had is that the battery seemed to drain quickly as whenever I had the laptop on without the AC adaptor plugged in, the computer would shut off on its own within 10 seconds or so. As long as I plugged in the AC adaptor to the laptop, it ran with no problems However, when I tried to power on the laptop yesterday, even with the AC adaptor, it would no longer power on. I did just come back home from the airport, so maybe that had something to do with it? I followed all the steps here: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001127.htm After following some of the steps, when I hit the power button on the laptop, it would flash for a second or so, and then stop flashing. Nothing ever appeared on the screen What is the next step for troubleshooting? Do I just have to remove the hard drive and/or RAM and place them back in and try powering it on again? Or take it to a repair shop?

Hey Lenovo Forum:
I'm having a battery charging problem that seems slightly different from any on this forum so far. I just acquired a T430 running Windows 7 (64-bit) like a charm. After a few issues with the audio drivers, everything has been running smoothly.
Abruptly, yesterday, when I plugged it into the wall socket (the same socket that it had sucessfully charged on earlier) it failed to charge. Thinking it was the outlet, I tested it. The outlet and adapter are both working fine (the adapter powers the computer no problem with the battery removed from the system). The lock switch on the battery is in the propper position (i've tried both). The battery is not overheated (it's cool to the touch). I tried removing everything and holding the power button (apparently that discharges some built up charge in the system) then reconnecting the battery and AC adapter, nothing.
I just downloaded the power manager which (when the laptop is, in fact, running off of AC power (the battery charge indicator hasn't draining in hours of continuous use) reads:

i have also tried reinstalling and updating the "Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery" driver i... Read more

Kind of ranting right now because I'm quite frustrated with my situation right now.To start off, I need a new laptop. Originally purchased a C940, had it exchanged twice before just returning it for good. Purchased a X1C6 on 10/31, received it 11/5.The day I got it, I had a bunch of issues with the trackpad driver, probably spent ~3-4 hours troubleshooting the issue by myself before finally fixing it after one last ditch attempt restore.Come to today, I had it hooked up to my external display, entire thing freezes. Restart the computer, HDMI port doesn't work anymore. Sat on the phone with support for a hour while troubleshooting the issue with them after I had self troubleshooted, and basically got told it needs to be fixed or replaced.I guess I'm frustrated that I'm running into so many problems with Lenovo's laptops and need reassurance that the trouble I'm running into will be worth it in the long run. I just need a laptop that works without me fiddling with it for 4-5 hours every time I get it.

My wife's Lenovo G50 (less than three months old) with Windows 8.1 has begun crashing and automatically rebooting for no apparent reason. I have restored it to factory settings and it still crashes and reboots automatically in the middle of an operation such as a Norton full system scan or when running a scan with PC Matic. I have tried to update all Windows updates and it does the same thing. It is now extremely slow but won't defrag using the Windows defragger. This is the first PC we have had with an AMD chip, so I am wondering if that could be contributing to the problems. I am completely stumped. Can anyone help?

A:Solved: Lenovo G50 Continuously Crashes

Under 3 months old, I'd be contacting Lenovo because it should still be under warranty.
New computers should not crash. What you see might be the result of some hardware fault and no amount of tweaking is going to fix that. Get Lenovo to look it over and replace hardware, if needed.

The AMD chip should not be a factor. I have at least two computers with AMD chips (netbook Win 7 64 bit) and desktop (XP and 7 32 bit). No crashes on either.

The only thing I did beyond normal is that I momentarily forgot that the full bottom chassis doesn't need to be removed to add the second stick of RAM, and had begun to do so before remembering. I'm replacing x1 stick of this:  With x2 sticks of this:  I was grounded and have checked to ensure I didn't jostle any cables etc when replacing. You should be able to order recovery media from Lenovo by calling Lenovo support at 877-453-6686      They will charge you a fee, however, but you will at least have the factory installation media.

Hi,I replaced the battery of my T430 two months ago. I have not used it too much, it has got maximum 10 cycles in it. Now programs like aida64 tells that the designed capacity of the battery is 86580 mWh and its fully charged capacity is 80090 mWh. The laptop has been reinstalled since the battery changing. So, now the battery is 7% worned. But if we look at the real designed capacity (93600 mWh after the first charge) it is 14%.Isn't that wear too high after 10 cycles? Should I send the battery back to the shop where I bought it? Thanks,
