I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I hope I haven't made a mistake, but I just received a Samsung 1TB Polaris SM961 NVMe M.2 80mm Solid State Drive/SSD to upgrade my HP Omen with. The laptop is not seeing the new drive.- The bios is not seeing the drive- Diagnostics saying device not present- I have followed instructions to perform a hard reset. I maybe foolishly believed that because it was mentioned that the 950 pro works, I assumed tha the 961 would work too..But maybe i have received a faulty device ? And tips comments or ideas ?Thanks Nigel

Hi,Manual: Page 44http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05270979M.2 2280 SATA SSD is good enough. No M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slot available. I bought a new SAMSUNG SM961 M.2 NVMe SSD.

I installed from a DVD no problem. The only changes I made in the UEFI was to disable the other drives so as to be sure to install to the SSD.

A:Can i upgrade Hp pavilion 15-bc021tx with SSD SAMSUNG SM961 ...

Yes it is rated to accept an MVME (PCIe) M.2 disk. Look at page 29 of the Manual here: Service Manual The M.2 slot is to the left of the battery.  As far as what kind of read/write speed you will get it is hard to say. The drive is capable of 3000 Mbps read and about 1500 Mbps write, but I have 2 HP laptops with Samsung NVME disks which register about half those speeds and that seems to be the common experience. You do want to install the latest Samsung NVME driver and the device driver from Samsung. After I did that, my speeds went up about 10% and a few people have reported an even bigger improvement. The speeds I get are still well over twice as fast as a SATA SSD so I am very happy with the performance.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

The compatibility list for SED NVMe support states that the DDPE tools will support SED (OPAL) hardware encryption for the PM961 but I don't see the SM961 listed and I thought the only major difference was TLC vs MLC.  On the 7480 it shouldn't make a difference at 2x, but the write speeds will be much better on the SM series.
Is it compatible?  The performance of the Toshiba XG4 is unacceptable.  The PM961 would get closer, but it'd be best to retrofit an SM961.  Thank you for any help offered.

If you plan to replace the 2.5" hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, that'll work fine.  Though these will also take card-format drives, they're the older mSATA format -- not the now common M.2.  That'll limit a card drive to 512G -- I don't think you'll find any larger capacity mSATA drives.

Please help ~ I need some advice!
2 years ago, I switched to an Android phone after feeling frustrated with Apple, but I still have a Macbook Pro on which to download and share from.
I use the device mainly as a phone and a camera, and the memory has filled up fast.
The Samsung program designed to download pictures, music and videos compatible with is called Kies. Recently they changed that to Samsung Smartswitch. Neither are great programs at all. To be expected.
At the moment the problem is, every time I go to pull any pictures or videos off my phone onto my computer, the phone freezes up. I have opened up lots of memory and downloaded the new Smartswitch program but still the phone is crashing. Every time I speak to Samsung the only advice they have is to reboot the phone, take out the battery and re-download the program... & I've done that 6 times now!
I'm used to my Apple laptop and haven't had anything but Apple in a decade and now, I'm afraid that Apple might be the problem ~ not sure.

A:HijackThis Log - polaris

Hi polaris6You are running HijackThis from your Desktop. You will need to move hijackthis.exe to a permanent folder, such as c:\hjt . This has to be done as HijackThis creates backups when you fix items. You do not want them accidentally deleted or spread all over your Desktop.First create a new folder:A. Click My Computer icon on your desktopB. Click C: driveC. Click the File menu --> New --> Folder, a folder "New folder" will be created.D. Rename it HJTMove\Unzip hijackthis.exe to the c:\HJT folder.Download this: Getservices.zipExtract the file to the c:\ drive. Then navigate to the c:\getservices folder and double-click on the getservices.bat file. A notepad will open up. Please paste the contents of that notepad as a reply to this post. The trojan mutates on every reboot, post please also a fresh HJT log. From the moment you post your list, until you see a detailed fix written up, DO NOT reboot your system or log off. If you do, the service will have changed and the fix provided will not work.

I am having extreme issues with my SSD speed. It has gotten quite bad. The SSD was a user-upgrade over the HDD that came with the Dell M4800 on the date of purchase. Initially the SSD upgrade worked well (Samsung EVO 850 500 GB). Recently, performance has taken a nose-dive. I have looked for solutions online and come up short and also failed to see any case as bad as my own.

Current Random Write IOPS - 1,144
Current Random Read IOPS - 12,752
Current Sequential Read (MB/s) - 547
Current Sequential Write (MB/s) - 103
OS - Windows 8.1,  64-bit  x64-based processor  - i7-4700MQ
SSD - 211 GB free of 420 GB
RAM - 32 GB

Some of the solutions I've attempted:
Enabling AHCI  (uses an auto-installed Intel driver, which seems funny)
Verified TRIM is enabled
Turning off system restore
Disabling drive indexing
Turning of defragmenting
Turning off paging file
Disabling hibernation
Disable Write-Caching
Turning off superfetch and windows search
Installing my discrete video card drivers again (Intel HD drivers had been updated, and the result was screwing with the usability of the device)
updating Samsung Magician (appears to have made sequential writing and random writing worse)

A lot of the above corresponding to this site: www.computing.net/.../552.html
This all started with updating the drivers for the device for the bios and etc. A number of the updates were marked as urgent, so would prefer not to roll back (security and what not).

Read Understanding Windows Core OS and Microsoft's 'Polaris' for modern PCs by Windows Central

Window Core OS and OneCoreTo understand how Microsoft's vision of Windows will work, it is essential to understand some of the OS architecture. Here's a list of key elements:

Windows OneCore ? Microsoft successfully unified its kernel and OS core system across devices in 2015.
The Universal Windows Platform (UWP) ? Microsoft unified its app platform, which runs on Win32 systems (x86, x64), ARM, and Xbox.
Windows Core OS ? As reported by our Senior Writer Zac Bowden, Microsoft is making Windows 10 modular. Once finished, Windows 10 will look the same, but components like Win32 and telephony support for cellular calls can be added or removed by OEMs. Windows Core OS will also pave the way for a true UWP-version of Windows 10 without any native Win32 support that will eventually supplant Windows 10 S.
Windows CShell ? With the same kernel, a flexible core, and unified app platform, the last piece is the shell ? or UI ? that itself adapts to the screen. Taking the idea of Continuum to the OS level, CShell lets devices adjust their UIs for different tasks and experiences. A device running full Windows 10 for the desktop would be able to take on a Windows 10 Mobile UI to run in phone-mode, for example. Or, a Windows 10 PC could take on the Xbox UI when in gaming mode.
The idea here is simple: Windows will sha... Read more

AMD talking about the RX480 (link below). I figured they wouldn't be matching 1080 performance and would be focusing on their pricing versus the competition. $199 U.S. for a RX480. You gotta love the comment they got from Marty Stratton (ID software - Doom developer):

"You are not going to need a $700 video card to enjoy Doom at fantastic frame rates". Then back to AMD for benchmarks of two 480's (<$500) compared to a $700 1080.

I'm no fan boy of either company. I've had both, no issues. Critical for pricing is competition so I hope both Nvidia and AMD do well. Just nice to see more than a number of us consumers take a shot at that $700 U.S. "Founders Edition REFERENCE" card pricing.

Problems on initializing Samsung 80GB with Samsung's Disk Manager: Ontrack(tm)

There is some problem on my 80gb Samsung HD. The situation is this:

I have had an old computer which have an ancient motherboard.. because of the limitations of motherboard it was initializing Hd as 8gb.. I installed Samsung's Disk Manager program named Ontrack. It does something with the MBR to make the 8gb initialized HD as 80gb! When you're in bios setup, it says your samsung is 8gb but when you reset and wait for the system disk error message Ontrack activates and then your hd is 80 gb, you can install OS after that.

Here is the problem: I bought a new computer whose motherboard to initialize my 80GB hd as 80GB also, but things didn't happen like that. On bios setup it says my HD is 33gb.

I plugged the HD to my other computer and its partition magic 8 says "33gb BAD" also..

A modified MBR by a program (ontrack) can fool bios setup? if so, can i use XP CDs system recovery console with fixmbr command? ?f it is not how can i make my hd back to normal (not for old motherboards, initialized as 80GB)??

New motherboard is MSI RS482M2-IL and because of this problem I cannot enable S.M.A.R.T. feature. I need help and thanks from now on!

* I can install universal print driver & scan driver

I recently had issues with my PSU and rather than play guesswork on whether its still functional, I rather just replace it.

My motherboard is a m3n78-pro. Its a bit dated but I'd like for this pc to last another 6 months before I build an entirely new rig. If I read the manual correctly, it requires ATX 12V V2.0.

The PSU I'd like to change to (since it just has to last another 6 months) this 900 w PSU. Would the m3n78-pro be compatible with this PSU? One concern I had was that the m3n78-pro requires a 4 pin ATX +12v connector. If I read the PSU's specifications correctly it has one 12V 8-pin (4 + 4) CPU power connector. Is that 8-pin two separate power connector, ie do I just use 1 of the connectors to fit into the 4 pin ATX +12v connector?

Please excuse my noobishness but what exactly does the v2.92 Motherboard specification entail? I tried to google it, but got less useful information and product results from newegg.

Also I read the wiki on the ATX 12V V2.X standard, but it didn't answer my question - is ATX12V v2.3 backwards compatible with the ATX12V v2.0 standard?
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Hello Friends.  I successfully installed a Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD as a boot drive just fine.  However, it looks like the Windows 10 NVME driver is being used in place of the Samsung NVME driver.  I saw this post here where it says: "Windows is indicating it is using the NVMe driver for this drive." https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-750se-capable-of-M-2-NVMe-... However I do not know how to determine this myself.  I am using a utility called "AIDA64 Extreme" and it's telling me the driver provider for the 950 is Micrososft and the driver version is 10.0.14393.0.  So, how do I get the 950 to use the Samsung driver instead?  Thanks for any help.

A:How to tell if Samsung 950 Pro is using Samsung NVME driver ...

Hi, From Samsung tool (Samsung Magician), it shows my machine uses Samsung firmware, no information about driver. It uses Microsoft driver. The tool allows use to check and update firmware but not driver. Regards.

After installing Samsung Touch Supporter on my non-samsung PC,I get this:

"This Program only runs on a Samsung PC.
Program will terminate."

I try to use some of the software that came with the Samsung Series 7 PC.
I will not let me open the program.
I have an Archos 9 PC and would like to use it.

Can anyone make it so that I can install this software on any other PC?
Sometimes it's a simple edit, can anyone look in to this?

Software can be downloaded from the Samsung website here(it's under manuals & downloads/software):
Support - Tablet PCs XE700T1A | Samsung Tablet PCs

May you please attempt to fix Play Touch App (Software) (ver.,Play Touch Luancher (Software) (ver., and Touch Supporter (Software) (ver.

Note: Play Touch Laucher says the same message as above, but still manages to open, Touch Supporter does not though

A:Samsung Series 7 software on non-Samsung PC.

That software is only licensed to use on the Samsung PC it came on, so I don't know why you would expect it to work on any other PC.

Samsung is also the most difficult model to get the OEM software to work after a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is entirely legal and recommended for most users of preinstalled Windows to get the best Win7 performance.

But for Samsung it's especially important to back up the Recovery Image and make a secondary Win7 backup image so that if any features are missing after Clean Reinstall and the Samsung software won't work correctly, you can set it back to factory condition.
