Laptop's mobo model

Q: Laptop's mobo model

Hey, I am just wondering how I can check my laptop's mobo, model SX20S by samsung support intel core i3 and other hardward, thank you

Preferred Solution: Laptop's mobo model

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is it possible to identify the mobo without opening the PC up? I need to download some drivers but have no idea what the mobo is.

I know it's a Foxconn, but that's about it!

If I have to open the PC up, where would I find the model details?

Thanks in advance

A:How do I ID the mobo model?

You could try downloading the free Everest programme from HERE. See if that can identify your mobo.

If not, open your case and look for the mobo model number, it`s probably printed on the board inbetween the pci slots.

A:I need to know my mobo model.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I have moved your post to it`s own thread.

Download the free Everest programme and/or the free SIW programme. If they don`t help you to identifiy your mobo, then you`ll probably need to open your case and look on the mobo itself.

Thanks to everyone that takes the time to read this. I want to replace my OEM MSI MS-6577 mobo that came with my HP for another version of the MSI MS-6577 mobo but the new one would have an AGPx4 slot and the current one only has PCI slots. I read that replacing the motherboard on OEM systems with Windows XP like mine has, will cause big problems unless it for the exact same make and model motherboard. In my situation, it is the exact same make and model but a different version of the mobo that would have an additional AGP slot. Would this give me BSOD or would the swap go smoothly? I am also hoping not to have to reinstall Windows XP without having to go buy a copy as I read you can't do that off recovery discs with OEM Windows XP builds. Thank you everyone again.:grinthumb

A:Can I replace my OEM mobo with the same make & model but different version?

The problem would be with Microsoft

I believe you could put a different version of motherboard on there, heck, you could put an entirely different make of motherboard if you wanted as long as it fits the case's form factor. Simply, the screw holes on the motherboard have to align with the holes on the case.

The trouble you will run into is with Microsoft. Your copy of XP is associated with the serial number, model, and make of your present motherboard, and it's recorded in Microsoft's database. That's what happens when you activate a Microsoft product. The operating system or software will get your motherboard's information and record it. Now here comes the problem...

If you put in a new motherboard, the operating system on your hard drive is going to look up your previous motherboard's information when it boots up. If it sees a new motherboard, it will say, "I'm not associated with you, so I must not be licensed with you!" and it will tell you to contact Microsoft or buy a new copy of Windows.

What you have to do then is call Microsoft and ask them if you can associate your copy of Windows with a new motherboard. They will want to know why. Usually, they will only do that if your motherboard failed, exploded, or somehow became destroyed so you had to replace it. I don't know about motherboard upgrades. To Microsoft, each and every motherboard is a separate computer, and you are only licensed for one computer.

Just to clarify my point of view:

The hardwareID is not (never) equal to the MAC address
Even not for network cards.
is that correct?

Is there a way to find out the
- vendor
- model name
for a given hardwareID?

Let's take two examples:

Is there a public available web catalog for such hardwareIDs?

I found that just doing a google for the hardware Id seems to work.

This is my first posting. I purchased five ASUS P4PE motherboads equipped computers as tool controllers in our laboratory at a semiconductor electrical laboratory. Four exhibited passive heat sinks falling off the Intel 845PE Memory Controller Hub (MCH) otherwise known as northbridge controller. This problem is identical to the Tech Spot posting on January 24,2005. Obviously, ASUS has a manufacturing solder defect in the through motherboard clips that permit the passive heat sink to be attached to the motherboard. One heat sink fell off and shorted the adjacent ASUS accelerated graphics port (AGP card). A problem case code has been opened with ASUS. This case code number is WTM2007030449417942

A:ASUS P4PE northbridge heatsink problem with this mobo model.

Did you ever get anywhere with asus on this issue? I just had the same thing happen to me and it appears to have fried my board. They told me since it is so far out of warranty that there is nothing they can do. Kinda sucks because they clearly had a manufacturing flaw with the solder/heatsink clamps.

Hello all - first time poster on this forum.

I have a bust up fairly old Intel Celeron 600mhz laptop which could do with a new case/shell (not a bag, it needs the equivalent of a new desktop tower) but I don't know where to find one. I believe this is just a clone of similar laptops made around the same time and the model number is 6133. I was wondering if anybody knew somewhere I could purchase replacement shells/cases and if they stocked a case for this computer.

Everything on the laptop works fine except for a dodgy monitor cable (which would be fixed by moving everything into the new shell) so I don't intend to sell it for parts. I'm also quite experienced in fiddling with computers (my dad's a PC engineer so I've picked up quite a bit from him) and he is willing to help me get this laptop into tip top condition again.

I was also wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the motherboard and processor. At the moment it's a 600mhz intel celeron but I'd rather go with an AMD athlon of some sort as I believe them to be generally better. If anybody knows where I can purchase laptop motherboards to fit certain needs any help there would be gladly appreciated (am looking for a socket A motherboard). If the upgrade to Athlon is not possible I would like to know what the upgradability of my current motherboard is - I shall be looking inside the laptop within the next few days and can probably provide a number for it.

I think that with a fe... Read more

Howdy and welcome to the Forum.

Have you contacted the Manufacturer regarding replacement parts? That's where I would start.

BUT to be honest, although you do not give all the specs of the PC, I'd be willing to bet that you could replace the whole thing with a new laptop cheaper than replacing parts like case, MOBO, Processor, RAM, and HD !!!

So unless there is some "sentimental value", like the case broke stopping a bullet shot at you by terrorists...I'd shop for a new unit.

Tried to get HP support to give some similar board model from ASUS' own models so I could get the correct Asus AI Suite to control fans, read system info. The similar Asus model they gave didn't even have the same chipset. I'm not sure if that truly matters as far as their AI Suite working correctly. Just need a reliable program to adjust case fan speeds a bit. Simpler is better.

1) Does anyone know how I can cross the HP / Asus board w/ some similar model on Asus' site to get the correct version of AI Suite?

2) If no to # 1, suggestions on reliable prgms that will allow controlling fan speeds?
Fairly sure this mobo has the ability to adjust fans. 1st tried SpeedFan - no options to adjust any fans (reports them), but MSI Afterburner had no trouble adjusting GPU fan.

None of several socket 775 boards I looked at on Asus' site had G33 chipset.

The info HP has for this mobo is

Manufacturer's motherboard name: Asus IPIBL-TX
HP/Compaq name: Burbank-GL8E
Form Factor Micro-ATX: 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.4 cm (9.6 inches)
Chipset Intel G33
Front-side bus speed 800/1066/1333 MHz (processor dependent)
Processor upgrade information
Socket type: 775

I have a Toshiba laptop - a Satellite A105-S4079 model. It's an older laptop, so the fan I want to replace is hard to find and expensive. Is there any way a different model fan could be used in its place? Perhaps just an A105 without having to match teh S4079 part? Or even a non-Toshiba fan altogether?

Problem is that although the computer starts up fine, after a few moments it shuts down. My sources tell me that it's almost certainly a fan issue, that to keep it from overheating it just shuts it down. I've seen the Youtube videos of what it takes to replace the thing, and I'm not confident enough in myself to take the entire computer apart to swap it out. But I don't want to pay full retail for a fan, either, that a repairman will charge. So I thought I see if I could just buy the fan myself at the cheapest rate, then get a repair guy to swap it out with me only paying a labor charge.

Btw, what kind of rate would I expect to pay for a laptop fan replacement? I have no idea.

Hi Everyone Sorry if I have put this in the wrong place but I struggled to find anywhere suitable to post a question like this. My girlfriend has purchased a pavilion 15 series laptop in blue, model number 15-au71sa. The laptop she received shows a model number 15-au71na and this appears to be the same laptop but why do they have difffernt model numbers? She hasn't booted it up yet as it may need to go back as were expecting to get 15-au71sa. What I  would like to know is why are there two separate model numbers and if these are two different laptops then what is the difference. Hp site does show both products but going through the specs they appear to be the same so why are there two separate model numbers? to me it just doesnt make sense. I have phoned  pc world, which is the  company we have purchased this from but they keep saying we can't find it on our website, and then they fob me off. I am hoping this is a simple question but if anyone has any ideas please let me know. THanks in advance.

I have 2 questions. 1. When I bought the laptop, the battery backup was at most 1 hour. But my friend's ASUS laptop survived more than 3 hours as they say. What's the reason? 2. Now after 2 years, battery backup is 5 minutes in "Balanced" mode and 20 minutes in "Power saving" mode. I need to change the battery. When I called battery seller he asked me about the size of the laptop. He said, laptop sizes may vary even though model is same. But I think, the battery for a model is of fixed size and volts and other things. Is he cheating? Please provide me the exact battery model for this model! Thanks in Advance

A:Laptop size vs Battery model

It's just a poorly guarded secret that AMD laptops do not have the battery life of Intels. Yours is AMD. You have to be extra careful to keep the screen as dark as you can stand and avoid too much multitasking while on battery. 2 different batteries can be used: (11) Battery, Li-ion 9-cell (93 WHr, 2.8 Ah) 633809-001 6-cell (47 WHr, 2.2 Ah) 633805-001 The 9 cell kind of juts out from the bottom but gives much longer runtime (twice the watt-hours). The bump on the bottom also helps airflow and improves the typing angle but does make the laptop heavier and a bit clumsier to carry around.  Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Inc-Battery-2-8Ah-MBI55740/dp/B0051PSIQW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1494356466... This is a 3rd party "compatible" battery which is much cheaper but still OK to use on older laptops: https://www.amazon.com/BTExpert-Battery-Pr06047-Pr06055-ProBook/dp/B00SS7R67M/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid... If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello everyone I have dell I5-3521 laptop with me at present with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB hard-disk and I want to  upgrade both RAM and HARD-DISK to higher versions so can somebody suggest me the possible upgrades for above mentioned laptop.

A:Regarding dell laptop model I5-3521

Memory can go up to 2X8 or 16 G.
Any 2.5" 7 mm SATA hard drive will work.  There are drives up to 2T in that format but the choices are limited over 1G (I think only Seagate makes a 2T 7 mm drive).

I just purchased an hp omen 17.3 model 17-w033dx 2 days ago, and it is not working properly straight out of the box. I can not play any game with any system requirements for longer than 10 minutes without the frame rate tanking. I have tried to run 4 different games, all which should definitely be able to be ran by the hp omen 17.3. I have tried all variations of graphics settings and they all fail to work consistently. I'll begin with getting over 150fps and it will drop all the way down to 15-25 fps and stay there until I restart the game. Even restarting the game doesn't fix the issue sometimes. I purchased this laptop thinking it was a gaming laptop, turns out I cant even run Hearthstone on low settings for longer than 10 minutes. What a disappointment and waste of my time. I've tried tinkering with all sorts of graphical settings, making sure everything is set to performance, it did not make a difference. Needless to say I will not be purchasing any "gaming" equipment from HP in the future. As for my Omen, I will be returning it as soon as I get the chance.

Hi, I'm trying to find out just how much memory I can add to my laptop, it's Inspiron 17 model 3737, it has Kingston PC3L 12800S, 1600 MHz, 204 Pin, 4 GB install from dell and I was wanting to add 8 more GB to laptop to make it 12 GB, in reading thru some things on the computer it says it can support up to 16 GB of memory. But after reading in some of the forums people are saying that you can only add 4 more GB of memory.
I would hope some one out there can help me and tell me that yes 16GB is right, and just adding 8BG to have 12GB is fine,

Hello, well I did some checking and to me it seemed I could add more than up to just have a total of 8GB of memory, so I ordered 1 stick of Kingston PC3L 12800, 1600 of memory the same brand of the 4GB memory the Dell 17r model 3737 came with, I wanted to stick with the same brand,So for the heck of it ordered and installed and well low and behold when I went in and checked system it is showing that I have 12GB of memory. So what it says of what I read on the computer was right, I can go up to 16GB if need be. But I think 12GB is more than enough memory for what I'm using my computer for, most web, and 2010 Office loaded like a champ with no problems. And is Duel Channel DDR3L SODIMM. So if anyone else is looking to up grade their memory look into your system and it will tell you.
But 30YEAREXPERT Thank you anyway for trying to help me and I do appreciate you time and help.
