In Debug mode, it is working fine.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

In Windows 8.1 (and as far as I can remember in all previous Windows versions) I used to be able to do the following:
In Windows Explorer: Open a .jpg file from anywhere in my file system, by right mouse clicking and choosing "edit"After editing: "Save as" (press F12) and save the edited file IN ITS ORIGINAL LOCATION but under a different name.
Now, in Windows 10, the situation is different:
In Windows Explorer I open a .jpg file from anywhere in my file system by right mouse clicking and choosing "edit"After editing: "Save as" (F12) opens a dialogue box that suggests I save the file, NOT in its original location, but in a location that is either the default "pictures" directory or the directory that was previously used as a "save as" location in Paint (these locations are stored in the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint\Recent File List")

Now I'd like very much to get the old, Windows 8 type situation back because this does not work for me! It's very inconvenient to have to scroll and click my way through the "save as" dialogue box until I finally find the directory where the edited file was stored in the first place! Why o why does Windows not remember this location?
I've searched through the internet but it seems nobody else has this problem. I've searched the registry for the word "paint" but was not able to find a setting t... Read more

A:MS Paint "Save as" location is NOT the file source location

Hello hvaleton Welcome to the Ten Forums!

I just right clicked on an image file here and chose the Edit option and the "save as" to save the jpeg file with the word "duplicate" added into the file name to save it in the original location. You may want to try starting with the Paint app first you find in the Start>AllApps>Windows Accessories list and then simply choose the open option in the file menu to browse to and select the intended file. You can also see that pinned to the Start menu as well as to the main taskbar with a fast right click.

If your copy of 10 was an upgrade install that might explain the problem you are seeing since the upgrade install tends to not see everything go on fully at times. The word "Buggy" tends to fit the bill for that type of install and not specific to 10 only but every version coming up from Legacy to 9x onto ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and now 10.

The one thing favored with having the Windows Photo Viewer restored replaced by Photos in 10 is that once you have any image or photo in view you can simply to upto the menu and select the "Make a copy" option and browse to the location you want the new copy to be created and saved to on the spot.

You just can't alter things like you can with MS Paint or the favorite for many 3rd party free image editing program known as PaintNet. Besides painting over and erasing things if not drawing lines under and around objects in an image you can add ne... Read more

HI

Blow Error is happening when using Drive File Stream drive and folders.

Error:
MS Excel 2016
Your changes could not be saved to "g:\my drive...." because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file.

Similar problems happening in Word as well.

All other programs are saving properly.

Excel and Word save new files properly but when working on an existing file and I press save then the file is not saved and the error pops up and I have to save under a new file. Excel creates a temporary file with random #'s e.g.: 7A4764

I looked online and Microsoft said that I need modify/delete privileges to be able to save to "network drives" I've given full admin privileges to all user accounts and still the same issue.

Everything was working fine until 3 days ago when Windows had a security

I've uninstalled the Windows Updates. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office and no luck. I've uninstalled Drive File Stream and installed a new version and still no luck. I tried creating a new user account on the same computer and tried running DFS on there and tried saving there and no luck.

I'm running Windows 10 64 bit and MS Office 2016.

I'm currently using Back up & Sync and Office is saving using Google Drive folder.

Please advise on a fix.

Whenever I save something on Win 7 with the standard "Save" dialog (such as used by Firefox or Microsoft Word), the filename is still there in the drop-down list for others to see. Where is that list stored? A search with RegEdit does NOT match any of the filenames listed there (I even do a partial search without case sensitivity, to no avail) so I don't know where they're being stored. It's very puzzling.

Greetings, seems like MS is becoming more and invasive and less and less useful/logical in all programs and features.  Pundants say, you're on the way out, so let's hope
you can save things.
I've been struggling now with a variety of new mentality perspectives of the MS team, but one that has me nearly enraged is the fact that Windows 7 no longer supports, or is set, to
remember the last "Save As" file location/folder, and for the life of me I cannot find a solution.  This is sooooooooooooooo annoying when doing multiple versions of an image, database structure, document, video, audio file, as well as a simple save
as from Explorer.
As I recall, this was a cakewalk in 95, 98, XP...I never used 2000 nor Vista's (except at work, and well, shame, shame regarding those).
Anyway, please forgive my angst but seriously?  There must be a setting, but I cannot find it.  And if not, again, shame.  I have caught wind that the old method of folders
has been revamped with "libraries" so I see the default document location of c:\user\blah blah.  Again, shame, just like your Office 2007 is a virtual load, no /exe’s.
This should be outlawed.
You should remember that some people use their computer with specific INTENT part of which is to be PRODUCTIVE not blind directed by some company that want to control them at evert turn.

It's the most annoying thing I have to deal with. I have a 2 Monitor Setup, one main monitor and my tv as second monitor which I use to watch movies, online stuff, youtube etc.

So when I eat and watch a youtube show, then close the window and turn my tv off / switch channels or whatever and want to open firefox later to surf on my main screen it pops up on the second monitor which I don't see since I need to switch back to the PC channel on my TV. I need to select it and use the windows-key + arrows to switch it around.

So is there a about:config, script or windows solution to disable that behavior for firefox?

This isn't a bug but to document current IE/Chrome/FF behavior when saving an image.

When viewing a jpg image in IE 8.0.7600.16385, if you do right-click | Save Picture As, the default save location is Libraries\Pictures.

With FireFox 3.5.7, right-click | Save Image As, the save location is c:\users\username\downloads.

With Chrome 4.0.249.78, right-click | Save Image As, the save location is c:\users\username\documents\downloads

If using different browsers, this saves images in various locations when then must be manually consolidated.

With IE the default save location is a library, which can then be managed using the library feature: change default save location, etc.

With FF/Chrome, there's apparently no way to change the browser's default image save location. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

Hello.
I Googled this problem many times this night but wasn't able to find solution.

Currently when I paste something into Paint and saves it it always starts in "My Pictures" folder. On other computer I'm using Paint remembers last saving location and starts there.
Both computers are running Windows 7 Pro 64x so I really have no idea what went wrong...

I'm not interested in planting favourites or addind directories to library.
I would like to know if there's a way to fix it, so my Paint will work as it should.

(No such issue with Notepad for example)

Greetings!

And turned off DEP for the programs getting the error above.

Hi,

When our website users click on an html attachment embedded on a web-page in IE9, the download manager will not display the "Open" option. It will only display "Save" and "Cancel" which our users don't like, having to save the
html document in a folder to open it. Whereas, when downloading attachments like pdf, word etc. all three options are displayed.

Is there any setting to tweak , which will display all the 3 options for HTML attachments as well?

A:IE9 download manager will not display "Open" option (only "Save" and "Cancel" is displayed) for downloading HTML documents.

Hi,
As you know, the Open-Save-Cancel dialog box helps you prevent your computer from affecting by virus while downloading.
So I suggest you test to reset all zones to a lower level temporarily and then please attempt to download this html attachment again.

However, since you can normally download the other documents, I suspect there is some restriction in the website which you are trying to view. I recommend you to contact the administrator of that website if possible.
could you please send me the link of the website from where you are trying to download the html attachment?

Hi there,

For roughly 3 days now, I've been struggling to get an old game to work on my PC called "Army Men RTS". The issue I am having is that whenever I try to launch the game, nine out of ten times it normally results in me getting an error message like "Pandemic Studios error: ACCESS Violation 00b26030h". Now, the error code itself has a tendency to change numbers, so I am not sure if the code is really relevant, considering the fact it doesn't even give me any search results if you try to search it.

As far as system specifications are considered, I should definitely be able to run it. My specs are the following:

OS: Windows 10
Ram: 10 gigs
CPU - AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight core processor
System Type: 64 bit operating system
Graphics Card Sapphire HD 7970

Should be able to right click the game shortcut or .exe file and select properties, then compatibility. Try Win 8 compatible.

Hello,

I have two hard drives; one is a SSD (C:) the other is a generic hard drive (D:). Due to the limits on SSDs, I use the D: drive for storage. It was the original HD for my computer and has the same Win7 OS that I also transferred to and run off the C:. I kept it on there for future boot potential, should an issue arise with the C:.

I had an issue the other day and did a complete image restore of my computer. I messed up and accidentally restored the system operation to the D: for what should have been the C:. I have an external that thankfully holds a back up of all my files but not the system and the D was the location of the backups with the system files.

Now I am unable to save anything to my D: hard drive or overwrite any files. Since it is my primary storage this is a significant time waster. I can save in C and copy over to D and then delete the C, but a work-around is not a solution.
-I have taken ownership of the HD to no avail.
-I have granted all permissions to all users to no avail.
-This issue is NOT present in safe mode.

I am currently taking another complete backup of all files to the external and am considering potentially reformatting to see if that does it. Is there another way?

Also: I am the only user of this computer and am owner and admin.

A:"You don't have permission to save in this location."

Reformatted it and placed the data back on the drive - works great now.

My O.S. is Windows 7, I do not have java at this moment but it was installed a few days ago.

As I try to install java version : Jre 7u4 or latest version, I get an error 1606 code.

"Error 1606.Could not access network location
ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\
Programs\Administrative tools"

I am unaware of the location it is specifically pointing to but I have checked in Administrative tools to see if it was blatant enough for an amateur like me.

I would greatly appreciate your help and have a nice day :)

*edit - I could not run a jar file so I uninstalled Java but I may have had javaw.exe running while doing so. It may have been running because of a game called minecraft (it could run because it was an "exe" file that had a file path to javaw.exe)

A:"Error 1606 Cannot Access Location" whilst installing Jre 7u4

Have you tired installing Java 6?

Hello, I'm trying to help fix my friends computer. There's only one user name available, thus I'm logged in as the owner. After boot-up, it has a Windows 98 style taskbar, a black background, only the Recycling Bin icon and this message:

Location is not available
C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible
Access Denied

I cannot open the Control Panel. It just flashes the egg timer and then does nothing. The Documents, Music, Computer, etc. folders are also inaccessible, does the same thing as the control panel.

Personalize is also inaccessible.

There are no system restores available. It must've been turned off.

I also ran all the Vista recovery/system checks from the Windows Anytime Upgrade CD it came with and it found nothing/did nothing.

In safe mode, the normal desktop icons re-appear, but still no access to the Control Panel, Personalize and the documents folders.

The computer is a HP Pavilion a1748x running on Vista Home Premium.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

Thank You for any help.
Stan

Recently, Windows will not allow me to save files (from applications or from internet download) to the location of my choice. It insists that I save to the root of my fovorites folder.
I did have to do a re-install of windows a while back.. might that be the source of my problems (ie., old permissions - share settings? )
any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

A:"You cannot save to this location..."

Check out the response from DotCav in the thread below. It worked for me.

I'm struggling with my organizational folder structure and the folder I'm currently working w/ a lot is a number levels buried w/n Documents. As a result, when I click save as I have to click through a number of folders until I get to the desired folder. This is taking up a lot of my time. I may end up just cutting and pasting the folder to a higher level for now but would really like to add this folder or its parent folder as a default save as folder.

Any direction?

Thank you!

A:Can I add another "Save As" location?

Hello grimloktt,

If you like, you might see how including the folder to your Documents library. Afterwards, you could set that folder to be the default save folder for the library. This way you could "Save as" to the Documents library, and have it actually saved to that folder.

Library - Add a Folder to in Windows 8

Library - Set Default & Public Save Locations in Windows 8

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to install the 30day trial for WinAutomation WinAutomation Macro Recorder and Windows Automation Software but I keep getting this error and yesterday I searched for about 5 hours for the solution but nothing worked and today I'm getting close to match that.

So far I've:

Searched "User Shell Folders" registry folders for incorrect values.

Ran a bunch of Microsoft FixIts.(everywhere I found someone having a "Could not access network location..." problem with a FixIt solution posted in the same thread, I dlded and executed that FixIt)

Uninstalled firefox then tried to install WA.

Updated .NET Framework to latest.
None of the above is working. Please help me solve this.
I've also sent an email to WA support team about it but since this seems to be a windows problem I feel like it's not their job to worry about it.

A:Error: "Could not access network location \Resources"

Where did you download the installer to? Where is it running from? This will help us understand your problem better.

Hello everyone, new member here, hope you guys can assist me...

My LG BH12 Blu-Ray drive has developed a problem. If I put a disc in the drive, the drive title changes in Windows Explorer to indicate the disc title, so that's working OK. AutoRun pops up, and offers to show you the files, etc. If you try to view the files, you get a popup message like this:
Location is not available
D:\ is not accessible
Access is denied. This is a new PC I built about 2 weeks ago, and the drive has worked fine up until just now. Here's the interesting thing: if I open a Command Prompt with Administrator-level privileges, or if I disable UAC, I can see the drive and access it with no problem.

The research I've done on my own shows others with this problem but no good solutions yet. It appears to be permissions-related; I've verified that my account is still and Admin account. When I go into the properties of the drive, then Security / Advanced / Owner, it says the current owner is "Everyone". If I Edit this, it does not let me assign a new owner (tried my user account, as well as Administrators group).

I've tried uninstalling the drive and re-detecting. I've updated firmware on the drive. I ran "sfc /scannow" and nothing was found. I'm running out of ideas. How about you? =)

Mike

A:UAC: Lost access to BluRay drive: "Location is not available"

1. Uninstall any burning programs you had recently installed, including any Virtual drives. Remove the optical drive from the Device Manager and reinstall the drive.

2. If it does not help try the Repair install. Repair Install
This in all probabilty should fix the problem.

Since it is a self-built new PC, I would rather go ahead with a clean install, instead of breaking my head on it. ( Yes, it is a pesky problem and you will only be running in circles trying to resolve it without a repair install/clean install. My opinion.)

I have been getting these "Bad Pool Header" and "System Service Exception" BSODs for about a day now (the "Bad Pool Header" one tends to pop up more often then the other btw). I ran a registry cleaner which didn't work and ran memtest this morning and it showed that my memory was fine. The BSODs tend to occur more often when I am playing a game or running some program that uses a bit more memory but it also happens when I am just on the internet. On the other hand, last night I did nothing but surf YouTube for 3 hours and didn't get a BSOD at all. However, since then I haven't been able to do anything for more than 10 minutes (without being in safe mode) without it crashing, and this morning it completely froze until I turned it off. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. It came preinstalled from the manufacturer and unfortunately I do not have the install disc. The entire laptop is less than 2 years old and there have been no major hardware changes and I have never reinstalled the OS.

A:Random "Bad Pool Header" and "System Service Exception" BSODs

UPDATE: Another BSOD just happened after I left the computer idle for a couple of hours except this one said something about Asdsm.sys.

Hi Vincent,

1 chap from another forum suggested it may have been a fault with my AntiVirus.
He made me check the client policy for USB Auto On/Off for external drive scanning.
he suggested me some changes, & now all my usb external drives work... :)

i've been trying to install Skype for the past few months, and it's failed each time with the same error message: "Could not access network location:." This occurs after the program has downloaded and about a quarter of the way through installing. Skype has never been on this comp before so it's not an update.

incidentally, our other computer, an XP, has the same problem, so idk if it's the program itself, or that both the computers are messed up.

also the hard drive has 11.1 GB free of 105, and i'm using firefox if it helps any. thanks in advance!

Go into control panel's uninstall programs section, find office, and select 'change'. Click repair, restart, and let me know if that helps.

Hi

I am trying to copy files onto a drive which is 279 GB free of 2.99 TB.

I am getting the error "Disk is full" when doing this.

I am not sure why as there is plenty of space available.

This happens with large and small files.

Here is a screenshot of the storage the drive has.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hey folks,

Got a problem here that I believe I have experienced in Vista before but I forgot how I eventually solved the problem but I did solve it before.

It's been so long since it's happened though that I would probably have trouble digging up the old thread that I posted about it.

Anyway, let me explain.

I cannot right-click on some pictures on the internet and then save them as I am normally able to do.

For example, I go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sephiroth_(Final_Fantasy)

When I get to this page, I will attempt to right-click on the picture of the Sephiroth character at the top right of the page and save the image to one of my folders.

Normally when I do this it works perfectly, no problems whatsoever. However, as it is right now, when I right-click the picture and try to save it to a folder a window pops up that says "Access Denied".

And to show you that the problem is not solely isolated to this single wikipedia page, I have tried other pages, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_4

I tried to right-click and save the picture in the top right of this page as well, once again. And once again, same problem. "Access Denied" window pops up and I can't save the pics to my folder.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for this problem or has experienced this same problem before I would love your input and your time and help.

By the way, I am using Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition.

Thanks in advance folks!... Read more

A:Solved: Vista: "Access Denied" msg when trying to save pics

There is nothing special about those images.

Where are you trying to save them to?

The only time I might get such a message is if I am trying to save something to a networked drive or directory hat has not been properly configured for sharing.

save in the folder previously. I've tried to do every type of troubleshooting there is, what can I do to resolve this.
