I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys,So I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 touch that recently fell from a table and the laptop itself looks physically OK and has no dents or cracks at all, even the glass touchscreen is ok but the top part of the LCD inside appears to be cracked as there are lines and black cracks on my screen. I recently took the laptop to a Lenovo service center and they told me that they had to change both the LCD and the touch screen module (or digitizer as i have heard) as they come in a package, this costs around $300 and is not worth it since my laptop would cost around the same if sold secondhand. My question is whether there is a way to change just the LCD without changing the touch screen module as it works perfectly fine. After taking my laptop to a technician outside of Lenovo, he claims that seperating the touchscreen module from the LCD would almost always result in the touch screen cracking so it would be unusable, is this true or is it possible to keep the old touch screen module and change just the LCD? Thanks in advance

I posted this on the tablet forum but probably more appropriate here: I am one of the lucky ones who just got the X1 Carbon Touch (after a 2 month wait). Touch screen is VERY spotty.  Will just stop working.  All the time.  Even in the middle of gestures. I found that by going to the upper right corner touch will start working again, and then it'll stop moments later in the middle of an activity. This is Windows 8, of course.  I have used plenty of other Windows 8 devices so I'm not a novice.  I have never seen this behavior.  Is this a driver problem?  A setting I don't know about (some special Lenovo thing?).  I am hoping its not hardware.  The fact that touching the upper right corner enables things for awhile seems to indicate its not hardware but not certain.

A:X1 Carbon Touch - touchscreen problems

I seem to have resolved this.  Went into the Tablet control panel app, and started playing with the 'Calibrate' function.  After doing it a few times and not getting it quite right (It's designed for a pen), I did a 'Reset' on the settings and now the touch seems to be working normally and properly.

Dear Support Team, I am happy with my Lenovo X1 Carbon, but I have one issue that appears randomly (though rarely): while most of the time, the touch activity is very precise and smooth, the cursor sometimes jumps around wildly to random places that I did not even touch remotely. For an example, I am touching in a line from the center top to the center bottom. Instead, multiple clicks per second happen in random positions all over the screen (performing all kind of actions I never intended). I have this once every few weeks and it also happened when I opened the laptop for the first time. In general, I believe it only happens right after opening the laptop. Typically, closing the laptop and re-opening it again fixes it, but I would like to have a long-term solution. Is this a software or hardware issue? What do you recommend I do (since it's the year of "do")? Greetings from GermanyMoritz

A:X1 Carbon Touch: Touchscreen cursor randomly "jumping around"

Likewise. This happens to me often and is making me crazy.  Anyone out there who can help? Also, I type fast and sometimes do not stike a key hard enough for it to register This is my third or fourth Thinkpad and this new feel is annoying. Also, Lenovo has changed its keyboard layout for some gawd-awful reason and the right side of the keyboard is different.  Both these (and the common complaint we both have) are very annoying for an old time user .

hi all, I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd generation which has Windows 10 installed. Since I?ve purchased this laptop the touch and the "red nipple" doesn?t work properly.  When i switch on my laptop, the touch pad / red nipple works for approx 5 seconds and then it freezes. Occasionally it will work for a lot longer before it stops. I have to use a USB mouse every time ... - I?ve checked and made sure i have the latest drivers from the Lenovo website. Ive also used the "system update scan" and made sure i have all the latest drivers (Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad) - I?ve uninstalled the drivers and then re-installed them- The touch pad is visible in the control panel and i can disable the red nipple etc.- I?ve formatted my hard  drive and re-installed Windows 10- I?ve tried a different set of mouse drivers Does anyone know how to fix this? I really enjoy using this laptop and have always just carried a USB mouse with me. I would really appreciate your help.

I received my new silver matte Thinkpad X1 Carbon laptop less than 3 weeks ago and it already has a slight skim mark in the lid!  I tried to lightly rub it off with a cotton cloth because I thought is was a scuff mark on the surface.  That didn't work.  After a closer inspection, I realized that the lid paint was skimmed!  Does Lenovo sell touch up paint for the silver matte finish? Does anyone have any suggestions how I can refinish my lid?  It seems that the new silver matte color is not as durable as the traditional black!

Dear community, I'm using a Lenovo X1 Carbon 6gen laptop with Windows 10 and Lenovo X1 Wireless Touch Mouse is connected to the laptop by Bluetooth. The devices are paired well, Lenovo Mouse Suite is installed too. Unfortunately, I faced with the following problem: when the laptop is in the slipping mode, the mouse can wake up it, so if I just switch on/off the mouse, the laptop wakes up. I'm a bit paranoid the laptop can be waked up at a carrying book and can overheat itself. I've checked all devices in the device manager and see that the "Allow this device to wake the computer" button is always off and even disabled (in the gray). The amazing program "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" returns only "Thunderbolt(TM) Controller - 15D2" (but the laptop is undocked, I have no Thunderbolt yet). When the laptop has been waked up by the mouse, the "powercfg -lastwake" returns "Wake History Count - 0" only. Do I right understand some Lenovo drivers overload the Windows device management functionality and takes control of the devices such as mouse, keyboard and so on and allow the device to wake up the laptop? If so, how can I disable this and protect my laptop from being occasionally waked up? Thank you a lot!Pavel.

Hello there!I've been having some issues with my screen on 2 gen X1 Carbon - it freezes and sometimes it starts to flash at the edges after I close my notebook and open it again, so I have to try to move it into the right position so it can unfreeze. Sometimes pressing on the certain places helps, at the bottom of the display near these dark lines. First I thought that the problem is in the display cable, so I installed a new one, but it didn't help. I noticed that touchscreen works fine even when display is blacked out. What should I do, maybe someone had some simular issues? Sorry for pics quality, I can attach better ones if needed. Thanks for any help!

I have a new X1 carbon 6th gen with a touch screen that every few days stops responding to input. I have to disable the 'HID-compliant touch screen' device and re-enable it to get it to function again. I have all the latest updates and BIOS upgrades.  Is this a known issue with the device driver or is it a possible defective unit?I notice the touch screen itself is not nearly as "fluid" as my T440s and does not really respond to "flick" events in the same way. It's not nearly as pleasant to use as my old T440s was. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour or should I send it in to be looked at? edit; I found this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-6th-gen-Touch-screen-sometimes-does...I guess Lenovo is ignoring the problem. I may return it given they refuse to answer for the defective product.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hi, You don't need to spend money to swap. Please try the following steps to disable touchscreen. First, go to the device the manager by opening the "Charm Menu" and search for "Device Manager." If you don't see it, change the search filter to "Settings."Once in the Device Manager, expand "Tab." Then find "Human Interface Devices" and expand it.You should see several "HID-compliant device" listings. Some PCs will call it an HID-Compliant Touch Screen, but yours may vary?if you don't have a touch screen option, you may have to try each HID Compliant ____ until one works. When asked if you want to disable the device, select "yes." That's it! The touch screen on your Windows 8 device should be disabled.   You can turn back on any time. Regards.

I recently bought a 2nd hand ThinkPad x250 with pretty low specs. I want to investigate the possibility to upgrade the screen from the IPS Non-Touch HD to a FHD touchscreen. At many places I read it is not possible because 'the motherboard is different', but I cannot find any motherboard with or without touch support. I suspect that it's not the motherboard itself not supporting the digitizer, but some other part that needs to be replaced or added to the system. Is it an option to buy a working complete X240 with touchscreen and swap components to move the touchscreen to the X250? I don't want to swap the motherboard itself because then I basically end up with a X240 in a X250 housing with only 8GB Ram support, and I want to upgrade to 16GB.

Dear readers, This morning I found myself clenching the rear for all that is dear to me when my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen's Full HD Touchscreen started to misbehave. In this thread I will describe the symptoms and finally the resolvement, as well as log anymore occurences of the behaviour it showed today. The symptomsAfter recovering from sleep on my Linux installation, I had to go back to real work and reboot to my Windows 10 Home partition. During the whole recovery, reboot and log-in process, no abnormalities where observed. A few moments after logging in however (it can't have been more than 20 seconds), my display showed an image like this: (recreation made in photoshop)  I was shocked to the core, however immediately assumed it must have been some kind of Windows 10 problem, and rebooted the system swiftly. The computer did not power off immediately, but merely showed a black screen after Windows said it was "Restarting", and blew its fan to pretend it was actually very busy. After two minutes I forcefully shut it down and waited a couple of seconds before turning it back on. The BIOS screen showed no abnormalities, but as soon as the spinning circles were done chasing eachother, I was objectively horrified by what my lock-screen, and subsequent desktop looked like. Here is a GIF that simulates what I saw: (best viewed on a 60Hz Monitor)   It was quite the shock! To be clear, this isn't software or video output causing ... Read more
