n-Case...window pops up (warning me..)

Q: n-Case...window pops up (warning me..)

At boot...this window pops up warning me that they have detected a third party uninstalled n-Case, and gives me options to reinstall, uninstall, or do nothing. What is this? I, once again researched this...but, don't know actually what it means. What program uses this? and How did this happen? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Preferred Solution: n-Case...window pops up (warning me..)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Warning window pops up at startup.

This window pops up on my laptop each time I startup.

Is there a way to fix this.

A:Solved: Warning window pops up at startup.

Hmmm, try Start>Run>type msconfig and press OK, under the startup tab, look for this file, maybe it's loading at startup and shouldn't be - you can then uncheck it and test it!

This window pops up every time my computer is restarted. I have looked all over the internet trying to figure out why this is? It pulls up a window and asks permission for the registry editor to run. I have no idea what this is and if its a bad thing or not. Can someone with more experience please help me stop this? I don't know if its a bad thing or something to be ignored. I would really appreciate some feed back from you peoples!

When using MS Outlook or firing up IE, the "Windows Installer" window briefly pops up, sometimes flickering (as if multiple closings and openings are occuring), stating "Preparing to install ... ". Then the box goes away.

From what I can tell, nothing has installed.

In MS Outlook, this behavior always occurs when I am opening an email. In IE it only happens when I fire up Internet Explorer.

The only thing that has changed on my system prior to noticing this behavior is that I have installed the most recent versions of BlackBerry Desktop Manager and BlackBerry Device Mananger.

Thank You In Advance

A:Window Installer window briefly pops up

Hi Machine13705

It's possible that the blackberry installations tweaked a Registry setting, or didn't complete their installations elegantly.

I'd probably try the blackberry installation again as a first try. Then try running a Registry Cleaner such as CCleaner (in case loose ends are causing trouble --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...ml?tag=lst-0-1 --- the "Issues" section of CCleaner is the one that helps clear up Registry oddballs).

If that doesn't help, for the Outlook behavior you can try Microsoft's suggested repair (in case it's the tweaked-Office Registry setting --- their quick-fix is a "Language version tool" that you can download and try, and they have two other possible repairs as well) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265194

And, since you are running Windows XP -- you can always try the System Restore tool, using a restore point from just before you first installed the blackberry updates & the trouble started. You might have to reinstall the blackberry update again after this (but you might not! - it depends on where the settings are that were changed).

Last -- anytime you have unusual behavior from your system, it's a good idea to run some malware scans. Use the "thorough" or "High" settings.

Best of luck

A bunch of things are going wrong with my computer: my desktop has been removed and in its been replaced with a blue screen that says there is spyware on my computer and to click here to remove it; I keep getting warning pop ups, one says "your computer is working slowly, slow operation may be caused by spyware, download latest antispyware software and run full scan," another one says "warning your computer is infected with spyware, help to protect your computer from spyware"; and once the warning goes away, it brings me to a website for spyware products that I believe are fake, one product is called "spymaxx"; I also get a window that pops up that says "buffer overrun detected C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe; finally I get a window that pops up that says "windows security center system warning" and it alerts me about a file called C:\WINDOWS\bjam.dll, Threat: 2020Search.

I have an issue with the Chrome browser. I get these pop-ups that say Ads by happysale. Sometimes they are almost browser sized and sometimes they are these little thumbnail sized ads. The larger ones are usually accompanied by a pop-up that warns me my computer is infected and that I should call the number provided and shut down my computer. The infection warning is a text as well as voice and is always much louder than normal sounds. I try to click the X to close it but another opens in its place with a new voice, but the other voice just continuues repeating itself. This hasn't happened while using Firefox, only Chrome. I have tried anti-malware bites, iobit malware, trendmicro and one other random free remover that I can't remember right now. I'm here because obviously none of them worked. I hope that we can get this fixed. I also ran a HijackThis scan and have that log saved if you need it as well.

This has been a recurring problem for about the last 4-5 days. Avast puts out warnings about once or twice a day, normally around lunch time. Since I am at work at the time I don't see the warnings pop up, but my wife is normally around and she says that she isn't doing any particular thing. Sometimes she isn't even on the computer.

Here is an example of what the avast warning looks like:

I have run scans using the following programs to no avail:
malwarebytes anti-malware (both quick and long scans)
spybot search and destroy
avast scan

I have tried removing the rootkit as per the instructions on this page:

None of the above has resolve the problem and removed rootkit. None of them have even found it. The only way I know it is active is because of the avast on access warnings that keep popping up. There are no other signs. My computer doesn't feel slow, there are no odd processes running that I can see, and there is definitely not any pop-ups happing all over my screen.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thadiiva.

Welcome to TSG.

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Okay guys here is the problem. Microsoft Office 2007 Beta had expired and I couldn't find and uninstaller. So what I did was is manually delete anything in the register that had "office" in it. (yes, i know, a stupid move) Well when i tried to install my new Office Enterprise 2007 it wouldn't let me because there were more files left over.

So I went and used

msiexec.exe /x C:\WINDOWS\Installer\(msi name).msi NOREMOVESPAWN=1

and deleted every single Microsoft Office 2007 beta. Well, there was also my old Microsoft Office XP's MSI which couldn't be removed. (the error said that it couldnt find the batch file or something like that; i didn't really care) So i then went to install my Enterprise Edition and walla it worked! But that is not the problem...

In co-operation with the cleaning process, please: do not uninstall/install any programs unless asked to do so, to make it easier on us as it is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs;
do not run any tools or scans other than those requested;
follow all instructions in the order they are presented;
if you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, ask before continuing;
stay with this thread until given the All Clear, as absence of symptoms does not always mean the machine is clean;
do not attach any logs/reports, etc.. unless specifically requested to do so.
All logs/reports, etc.. must be posted in Notepad making sure the word wrap is unchecked. (In notepad click format, un-check word wrap if it is checked.)
Also note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.

Are you using IE? If so, go to tools -> internet options -> where it says "tabs", click "settings". make sure that those settings aren't causing the problem, if you aren't sure, click "Reset to defaults".

Hey guys, I have a strange issue with a blank command window popping up and immediately disappearing. It happens exactly 10 minutes after booting up, every time. This is happening on a fairly new installation of Windows 7 64bit.
I'm trying to understand if its malware related or what exactly is triggering it. I've looked in msconfig startup tab for any entries that call cmd.exe but found none. I also looked in task scheduler but couldn't find anything that seemed related.
Can anyone advise on how to identify what is calling this command window? What tool might be able to help?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.   Scan with OTLDownload OTL by OldTimer and save it to your desktop.Double click on the OTL.exe icon on your desktop. A:System32 Window Pops Up Frequently

Hi FullRange311, Welcome to TSG!!

That's quite a collection

First thing to do is make a folder on your hard drive, like My Documents\hjt. Move hijackthis.exe into that folder, don't run it from a temporary folder.

Start by going here: http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html and follow PROCEDURE 4 to remove new.net.

Go into add/remove programs and remove WeatherBug and as many of those toolbars as you can.

Download Spybot http://www.spybot.us/spybotsd13.exe

Click on "Search For updates" when prompted.

Scan, click on fix problems.

Download AdAware SE Personal: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

Restart your computer and post another HJT log for review.

Hi Guys,

I've recently run Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, and since then every time I start up my PC I get a Window that pops up called Autoplay.

In the window it looks like it's quickly scrolling though the directories on the PC.

After a minute or so it stops and goes away.

It's not a big issue, but I wondered what was going on.

Anybody got any clues?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I use window XP home edition. I have a desktop and laptop. Both of them have this weird problem: when I click Control Panel, double click System, the window comes up and then disappears. There are also certain websites will make the browser window crash. Some application will open and disappear in the same manner. I tried to kill spyware by using Ad-Aware, fix registry by using some free registry fixing tools. It did not work. Do you think I should pay for certain registry fixing tool or PC tuning software to do the job? I re-installed the window, the problem did not go away.Any help is appriecated!(Moderator edit: moved post to more appropriate forum. jgw)

Hu guys
I use Windows 98 and Outlook Express and IE.
For a few months now a strange phenom occurs several times a day. The "dial-up connection" box (the one that comes up when you bring up Outlook Express and ask it to connect) suddenly appears on the screen - unrequested. It doesn't make any diff what program I am working in.
It is not life threatening - but annoying. Any way I can stop it?

A:Dial-up window pops up unrequested

the cause may be a number of things.
1) do you have outlook express set to check for mail after a certain time.
2) you may have some spyware on PC which is trying to connectout
3) antivirus may be trying to connect

Two problems.

1.) When I start my computer these days, a window pops up titled C:\Program Files\NVIDIA.
It contains a file folder icon and an Nvidia file.

2.) In my control panels, I also have Nvidia Nview Desktop Manager, but when I click on it I receive an error loading message, and 'the specified module could not be found'.

I was looking at the Nvidia Control panel a couple of months ago, trying to figure out this and that, and I ran 'Tune System' and some other options. (By the way, there was a big improvement in the games I play.) I must have accidentally done something else to create the pop up window, and error messages, but I don't know what.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

(I did do a search on this topic, but while I saw other Nvidia problems I didn't see anything about these problems.)

Thank you.

Whenever I insert an audio CD into my drive, I get a window which pops up asking "What do you want Windows to do?".

The options I have are to either Rip, Copy or Play the CD using a variety of programs that are automatically added to the list.

I want to add EAC (Exact Audio Copy) to that list, but I don't know how.

Any suggestions?

A:How Do You Add A Program To The Window That Pops Up When You Insert An Audio CD?

Hello Son of Spam,

This can be configured in the File Types section.
To open up this you :
- open a Windows Explorer
- Go Tools > Folder Options
- on the file types tab you select the extension (NONE) Audio CD, click Advanced and there you go to add Programs on to the list.

Same goes for a lot of other content.

It isn't a big deal when and where its happening, its that I don't get why its happening when it didn't happen with my other computer (Windows XP) before now.

When I am at Pogo and decide I want to add a background or whatever to my cart and go to checkout a new window pops up that is blank except for the words "protectedmodeoff" in small black letters at top of page. I have read about how to turn the mode off and on and have tried that, nothing works when it comes to this site. Also,if there is anything I can post to show this computers innards please let me know. It is a refurb buy and I had to delete (or maybe I just think I did) alot of extras that were in it. If you can help me clean it up and have it running at top performance I'd appreciate it greatly!
