Preferred Solution: Trend Micro 9.0 (2016) Beta

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Looking into especially because of encryption ransomware (Active Document Control).

I attempted to do my normal test with it, Any malicious link I enter comes up with a 'Page 404' (dead page) screen when infact there not dead because on my host all the 20 links work and are active.
Could be Trend Micros web guard blocking them all but not displaying the usual "TrendMicro has blocked this page.. threats etc" with the logo and all, probably a bug.
Visiting other links such as Google and MalwareTips works fine.

So I will try to test it again in the future, I did manage to capture a new feature in it.. pretty cool check it out below.

Fake Antivirus (FakeAV) threats have been rampant in the past few years. Various FAKEAV variants have infected millions of PCs and are continuously spreading worldwide.

One reason why FAKEAV infections have become well-known to users is because they have visual payloads. Variants of the malware family often display pop-up messages telling users that their machines have been infected. This may cause panic among users, pressuring them to purchase rogue antivirus applications in the hope of resolving the issue. Users, however, should never purchase antivirus software from unknown sources.

Hi Everyone,

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and I have two folders in my Documents and Settings folder that I want to get rid of. One is '.housecall6.6' and is 71.5 MB in size. The other is '.housecall' and is 29.8 MB in size. I know that both of those buggers are associated with Trend Micro's online virus scanner.

I need to know how to un-install those things. Neither one of them is listed in my Control Panel Add\Remove thingy so I cant get rid of them that way, and neither of their folders has an un-installer in its folder.

I know that I could just just delete their folders but I don't think that is the right way to get rid of things like that.

Do any of you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Wendy

A:Trend Micro

When you run housecall it creates that folder for itself that can be deleted once you've finished scanning.
It isn't technically a program

Hey ppl,

The company I work for is looking at rolling out Trend Micro products for in-house and as a solution to our customers.

The two products we are looking at are

NeatSuite; or

Client/server/messaging security for small and medium business 3.6

Does anyone have any hands on experience with either of these software packages?? If you have and feed back would be greatly appreciated as all I can seem to find online in terms of reviews are Trend Micro's own case studies. So hardly a fair view, I want to know what its good at, what’s easy about it, what’s not so easy and where it just plain sucks etc.

Any feedback would be greatly (i mean seriously) appreciated

Cheers

Trend Micro Housecall online virus scan came out with a new version about 2 mos ago. I've use this new version twice and both times after it completes the scan, instead of giving a summary of the scan it returns back to the "Start Free Scan Now" page and you aren't really sure if any viruses were found.

Has anyone else used the new version and experienced the lack of a summary page?

Any opinions would be great!

Nah there is no need for that. If you configure the Windows 7 firewall to full protection Trend will just boost that, but if you think that you should have a go at doing it well then it's up to you.

I have Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 and since yesterday while I was in the middle of fixing my computer(spylocked/viruses), I got a pop-up from Trend Micro that says Unknown computers have connected to my network. There is a table that lists 14 "unknown computers" with IP addresses and MAC addresses. I have the options of clicking on "Trust", "Do not Trust", or I can click on Properties and choose "Block This Computer". I've already gone through the whole list of computers and clicked "Do not Trust" and "Block this Computer" but the pop-up still pops up every once in awhile. Why does it keep popping up and should I be worried--what can I do to stop this?

recently did a clean install of W10. A whole new experience. Advice from a "knowledgable" was to leave all the AVs etc out and get the paid version of Trend Micro which would give me complete cover. I think I should have Ccleaner & Malwarebytes though. Any thoughts on this?

A:Trend Micro only

Unless it is a business computer I see no reason not to use a free AV. Free AVs have a better detection than most paid.

I actually avoid paids AVs, because they include a lot of bloatware, which only slows down the computer.

I even custom install Avast Free in Minimal Protection to avoid any useless stuff.

I figured it wasn't the whole number, so it wasn't a big deal).Well, it said there was an option to turn off the auto-renewal, but it doesn't exist, and since it's a weekend, I can't call their support line yet. This is driving me crazy. What am I supposed to do? I think I'm going to get charge 50 dollars in about 2 weeks if I can't figure this out.Edit: Moved topic from Breaking Virus & Security News to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

recently did a clean install of W10.

I have tried to remove the trend micro 2008 that is on my desktop. I am running Vista Home edition.
I tried the normal install/remove and it would not work. It says the install was not successful?
I downloaded the 32 bit diagnostic toolkit and it starts removing and says" Diagnostic tookit has stopped working"
I even tried it in safe mode with networking and I got the same result.
I need to get this off of my computer so that I can put something else on. I even tried to re install it from the cd and had no luck doing that either.
Help!

i recently picked up my grandmothers computer, and she has trend micro antivirus.
she says she has a virus, but shes old, you cant take her word on anything that has to do with technology.

i looked at the computer and she clearly doesnt have a virus, but she is very paranoid. she doesnt want to keep paying trend micro for their antivirus software after i told her about AVG free. the catch is, she doesnt know her trend micro password to change the settings and remove.

is there any way i can get around the password and go straight to removing trend micro all together?

thanks for all the help guys, but dont worry, after a week i found out how to do it from another site.

Also i have 2-8 gig USB Flash Drives, 1 i keep all important things on like family pictures, music, racing and some documents. I have one 8 gig USB Flash Drive empty, i dont use if i need to download Trend Anti RansomeWare. Is 8 gig USB allright? I never dowload games or anything but security things. Or dont go to any porn sites. I do go to You Tube and watch Techs do test things on a VM, i find this very interesting.

I've been told to get Trend Micro .....  internet security software is enough, don't need anti-virus.  I've got an iMac

So I've gone looking for it, but I have a basic question .......  are these 2 products the same thing  (one may be newer than the other?)

http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/trend-micro-internet-security-2-users-12-months-card-tris2u12m
Trend Micro Internet Security 2 Users 12 Months Card - $37 for 2 users
"from viruses, cybercriminals and other online threats."

and

http://www.trendmicro.com.au/au/home/products/software/internet-security/index.html
Internet Security 10 - $39 for 1 user (or $29 if you download from the site)
"protection against viruses, cybercriminals, identity theft, ransomware and other online threats"

The top link gives you rights for 2 users ....  so I'm questioning whether it's the same software.

Is the top one different because it doesn't include  identity theft and ransomware that is included in the description of the 2nd one?  But the 1st one may have included these 2 in the general  "other online threats" .......  if the 2nd link is a newer product, they might have just changed the description ...
Am I right for thinking the difference is just that - including "identity theft, ransomware "  or is there something else I've missed?

Sorry to ask, but I'm not sure ....

Thanks

Trend Micro Internet Security is a suite which includes anti-virus.The bottom link is from Trend Micro's official site and indicates Internet Security v10. The bottom link is from a site I am not familar with and does not appear to indicate what version you are purchasing so it could be for older software. I generally recommend folks make purchases through the vendor's official site and deal directly with them. This Trend Micro link allows for 3 machines with your purchase. You do not have to use Trend Micro or a suite....there are better alternatives provided in Choosing an Anti-Virus Program.I'm not an advocate of suites. All-in-one tools and suites are filled with extra features (including "bells & whistles") which typically use more system resources than separate programs that do the same task while other suites leave a much smaller footprint. Suites tend to have varying degrees of strengths and weaknesses accorded for each feature they incorporate. Most Internet Security Suites include a Firewall, which IMO is unnecessary since the Windows built-in firewall is adequate protection and many folks also use a router. In contrast, separate tools are designed, built and maintained with a greater focus in a specific area so they are generally of better quality and more effective at what they are designed to do. This means the program's performance for that particular feature is usually superior than their all-in-one counterpart. Further, all-in-one tools generally do not allo... Read more

Hello Forum,
I would like to start by saying thanks to all the very helpful people on this forum for helping me with my previous problems.
Now my problem is with Trend Micro Internet Security 2005. Every time I install it after a few weeks I get error messages at the startup saying things like "TM Proxy error, please reinstall the program", and error messages about tmproxy.dll files. Now I have uninstalled the program again but when I tried reinstalling it the computer crashed. Now I cannot install or uninstall Trend Micro, and the TMTool program is not in the "internet security 2005" folder.
Please help me with this problem as it is becoming quite tiring
Thanks again
Phil

Not a big deal but I was wondering on my firewall log PC-Cillin 2005 there are several items daily that show blocked (I hope) from different IP's trying to connect to C:\Windows\Syst32\SVCHOST.EXE then application description is generic host process for win 32 services. I didn't notice any of these before we removed some crap on my system.

Thanks

I got it last week and have had nothing but trouble with viruses. Never had the problem with Norton. I' m thinking about just eating the $50 that I spent, and go out and spend another $70 to change back to the Norton. Has anyone else here have any trouble with Trend-Micro. One thing that I noticed is, the Norton used to scan about 130,00 files, the PC-CILLIN only scans about 45,000 files. I have no idea why. ............Take it easy.

A:Doed anyone here use Trend-Micro?

I don't have any experience of Trend Micro but, according to this story, they are currently having problems with some products;http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,119815,00.asp

I have no doubt NAV would be OK if you have enough system resources and you don't get any of the problems that have been posted about here. Before deciding, 'Google' NOD32 and Kapersky, as they seem to be highly rated at many sites.
