I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I got this X250 (Product Number 20CMOOE5US) last week and it has this weired power issue. When pressed the Power button, it flashed the green light 3 times and nothing happened. Unpluged the AC adapter and removed the external battery; opened the back cover and disconnected the internal battery and the coin battery. Connected AC adapter and pressed the emergency reset button on the back for several seconds; turned off the AC adapter power for a couple of seconds and then turned it on again. Without press the power button, the laptop came back alive with a boot screen message saying the CMOS checksum was bad and time/date need to be set. Pressed F1 key and updated time/date and then F10 key and RETURN. The laptop loaded Windows 10 with no other problem. While it is still powered on, I reconnected the internal battery and the coin battery, put the back cover on and inserted the external battery. Surfing the Internet, running Windows 10 updates and virus scan, including write this post; all without any problem, except the following: The laptop goes back to the initial dead state again if I use the mouse to click on the "Shut down" power off option. I will need to repeat everything from the beginning - disconnect all power source (AC adapter, external and internal batterys as well as the CMOS coin battery) and use only AC adapter power with the emergency reset button, ..., get into BIOS page to update time/date, ... This doesn't look like a motherboa... Look in the windows event log to see if a device is failing to shut down completely.  Sometimes they throw a message.  Try an Ubuntu DVD and see if shutdown followed br restart works there.  It may be the motherboard power circuitry.

Hello. I'm having issues with my t450S not being able to go in to sleep mode. Everything I've read says that these two programs have major issues with Windows 10 and could be the source of my problem. I go to uninstall and it says that the program can't run on this version of Windows. Ok, so I have tried many of the solutions offered in this forum and nothing has worked thus far: * c:\swtools\readyapps\pwrmgrv\setup.exe -l0x9 -AddRemove* change compatibility mode of programs and try then* straight up add/remove button Please let me know what I can do to get these off my system (without reverting back to Windows 7).  Thank you!

I have a new x250, about 1 month old. I opened it, expecting it to wake from sleep, but it did not. The lights on the keyboard (f1, f4 and fnlock) are still on, but otherwise unresponsive. The red light on the back that usually blinks to indicate sleep is off. The power button does not respond. I tried holding it 30 secs, but no effect. I tried pulling the battery, but since the x250 has two batteries, and one is internal, this did not work. I'm currently hoping whatever it is doing will drain the second battery eventually, but if it's only running those lights, that could take a long time. Is there another way to hard shut down the x250?

Hello, I had the Power Manager from the windows store and it was working fine until today. Today, I decided to reset windows to refresh my system (there was nothing wrong with it), Now, I install the power manager and it gives me the picture attached here:

Unfortunately, when I hit no, the program closes. If i select yes, I can only view the battery's life and not the ability to set max charge or minimum charge or adaptive  charge etc. If I try to download this same program off of Dell's website (which is compatible with 7577 NOT 7567 for whatever reason) it won't let me. The easy fix is to of course find the DPM component service but I cannot find that anywhere!! So any help will be appreciated. This is a big pretty deal, as I made an account just for this reason. I find the  dell power manager very helpful and love the program, but now I am beginning to question whether Dell intentionally makes the programs only for their latest laptops and products, which is ***.

But I have a Dell 65w power adapter and it is connecting properly (the screen is brighter when the power adapter is connected). BIOS shows the battery is in excellent condition, as does Dell Power Manager Lite. Battery icon in the task bar shows “16% available (plugged in, not charging)”. I have followed all the instructions in another thread with the same subject, including uninstalling and reinstalling the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery in Device Manager, and the problem remains. Hi Ace_Rimmer,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
The recovery media which you are having is same MTM (Machine Type Model) of ThinkPad X250 then you can use it. If it is different MTM then it may not go with your model X250.
Note: request you to perform recovery media for your Windows 8 OS and then do the required changes for your HDD.
Hope this helps.

A:Upgrade HD TN to FHD IPS for X250 (Windows 7). Adv...

I'm not a Lenovo employee, so cannot answer some of your questions exactly, but let me try to answer as a fellow X250 user who went from an HD IPS (1366768) to FHD IPS (19201080) panel about nine hours ago.

When the display panel was switched out, the display scaling changed from 100% to 125%.  Plenty of applications handle the new scaling just fine, but some of older ones looked blurry as a result of how fonts are scaled up in them.  Switching to 100% display scaling solved this and the apps now display crisp, if somewhat small, text.
Text is much sharper on the FHD display than the HD display, which is sort of expected given the new screen has nearly twice as many pixels as the old one.  Both screens I had were IPS, though, so I cannot make a direct comparison between TN and IPS.
I would suggest getting the screen installed by a Lenovo authorized service center.  According to this page, the contact information for Lenovo Ireland Sales and Customer Support is+353(01) 6535 568, and hours are from Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm GMT

One thing I've noticed is that the new screen seems a lot brighter than the old one.  Again, not sure how this compares with TN versus IPS screens, but just something to be aware of.

I have looked long and hard at other peoples' solutions to this problem to no success. I have tried:-installing latest Intel HD 5500 driver from Lenovo site.-installing latest beta driver from Intel-enabllng the Generic PnP Display-Several registry hacks that claimed to work (I reverted back after they failed to do anything) My question is, when will the display driver support brightness settings again, or is there an older version that works that I can download? I can't "roll-back" my display driver, as the current one was the first I used. Using the default Microsoft VGA driver is a non-starter. I need proper resolution. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I feel like I have tried every solution on the internet, and perhaps the only solution for me is a different driver, possibly. Or one that doesn't exist yet.

A:Win 7 Power Options or HP Power Manager ??

HP Factory Install is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7. That's why most tech enthusiasts won't even run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Everything needed is in the blue link to get and keep a perfect install just like a million others have done without a single complaint.

If you'd rather first try to clean it up you can try these steps to Clean Up Factory Bloatware
but HP is the worst of all brands for its bloatware so if you ever want to experience native perfect Win7 performance on that machine I'd do the reinstall.

Hello, I'm at a loss and afraid I've lost all my files.   Every time I restarted my computer I kept getting the Windows Boot Manager error message: Status: 0xc000000f Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data. However, after googling and trying numerous methods to repair this, I now keep getting prompted with the Windows Recovery Manager.  I assumed that choosing the default factory restore option would prompt me with a back up option, but it didn't and proceeded to reformat.  I quickly shut my computer down. I don't know what to do next because now all I get is the Windows Recovery Manager option. Any help would be much appreciated!

A:Windows Boot Manager Error / Windows Recovery Manager Issue

If this string of events actually did start to reformat the drive, it might still be recoverable.  I would boot the computer to an independent OS IE: Linux Live on a CD or DVD and then look at the drive.  Then use that to copy your data to another drive.  Once the data is saved, then do whatever you want with this corrupted drive.  Do not try to continue with any other operations until the data is saved elsewhere.Since this PC came with Vista, once the data is saved, you could try the HP REcovery Manager to restore the original OS. Or just start over this a new install of windows 7

Hi, I'm running a T61P, Win7 Ent/SP1. System Update repeatedly showed Power Manager 6.67.5 as available after repeated successful updates. I DLd the update and tried to run it manually, but it kept telling me there was an earlier version of PM installed, and did I want to remove it. I said yes, and it seemed to uninstall (and reboot), but trying to run the PM update kept showing the "previous version installed" prompt. I used Add/Remove to uninstall both PM and the PM driver, then searched the registry and removed all references to PM from there, then sarched the hard drive and removed all PM files I could find. I still can't install PM. It's still telling me that there's an earlier version installed. I tried downloading and installing previous versions of PM back to v3, but I still get that frustrating "previous version" prompt and can't get beyond that. Please does anybody have a way to get past this prompt? GaryK

Once there were gone I was able to install the current Power Manager instance for Win7 (6688 as of this posting). GaryK

My battery had recently died and I haven't had the time or money to buy a new one. My Dell laptop, which I only bought not even a full year ago, still works as long as it's plugged into a power source. The problem is, and it's the biggest nuisance ever, is that the Dell Power Manager Lite notifies me all the time that my battery isn't working or something along the lines of it. It's extremely annoying because it pops up every few minutes or seconds even and interrupts important things. I've done everything I can to try to turn off the notifications, as there is no real option to turn them off. I can't uninstall this program as it's nowhere in my files. Control panel has no way to uninstall it either. I am stuck with the most annoying popup notification. My question is, how can I turn off power manager lite notifications or uninstall the program completely when there are no straight options?

FOr the last few weeks... I get an error message every time I plug my charger in.  Now I cannot charge my battery.  sometime it works and other times not.  May be related to what ever else is plugged into the house outlets at home... iPad, iPhone, Mac computers, HP printer, etc.

Very annoying and now cannot leave my puter unplugged.

I think it is a software issue as the charger and cord all work fine to keep the puter alive when plugged in.

I was helping a friend with his Sony laptop running on XP. His power manager was not working and I was able to use the restore partition to repair his program. BUT- now the program comes up but does not follow the parameters that we set. His battery is fried so he runs it off of AC all the time. He wants the computer screen to dim after 5 mins, to sleep after 15 mins, etc. It does not do that. Thoughts? Thanks for any help.

System : XPS13 MLK (9360)
OS  : Windows 10 Pro

Intel Core i7-7560U @ 2.40GHz

(this thread follows this one)
I installed "Dell Command | Power Manager" (v 2.2.0).
In "Thermal Management" when switching between the 4 presets (Optimized, Cool, Quiet and Ultra Performance) it seems that only the first change is working.
For example :
If I boot with Ultra Performance and decide after to go to Quiet to get rid of fan noise, it works, almost instantly. I monitor what happens with my ears  and with HWiNFO64 and BurnIn Test :
In Ultra Performance all Core Clock are not maxed, reached 3792 MHz (that's the Turbo Speed for Intel Core i7-7560U @ 2.40GHz) and Fan at 6100 RPM
In Quiet each Core Clock seems maxed at ~1696 MHz (although in some of my tests I have seen it at ~2395Mhz, perhaps it's Optimized preset and not Quiet) and CPU Fan at 0 RPM
After that If I choose Ultra Performance mode nothings happens. CPU sticks to the maxed Core Clock until I reboot.
Very annoying to have to reboot to switch back to another thermal mode.

To shut down i have to log off and use the power button in the beginning screen!! I don't seem to have a shutdown option when i'm actually in windows!!

I know i can shut it down when I log off but it seems a bit of a faff when i know a shutdown option should be in the start menu!! Has anyone got any ideas where it is??

XP Media Center sp3 Gateway
(with replaced Geforce 6100-M9 mb 410 chipset)
2 gig ram AMD 64x2 2000+ processor
4 USB ports on back, 2 USB ports on front

Ok, ever try so much to fix something that you are thinking about taking it to the back yard, pouring gas on it and lighting it on fire.. well I'm there. Help please. (I feel like I've tried everything to fix this glich)

USB ports have power but not recognized by the computer.
No error (it doesn't even regonize them enough to give me that)
No problems listed under Device Manager states they are functioning properly
Device manager lists pci to Usb something, one more thing like that and two root hubs
(shouldn't there be more there? there use to be like 10 items under that catigory I thought)

Ok here's what I've tried not necessarly in this order (and rebooted each time with no success)
1) unplugged the power left for 30 min replugged back in and booted up
2) reinstalled MB drivers. nforce 15.24 WHQL (that was most recent I could find)
3) reinstalled sp3.. tried sp1a but had error newer was there.. tried sp2 and same thing.
4) checked BIOS enabled USB 1.0+2.0 (it was already enabled, disabled it, restarted enabled it again)
5) Enabled everything with USB in the name in BIOS..
6) reset BIOS to factory defaults
7) Tried to uninstall sp3 but its on my windos disk.. and spuninstal.exe (or what ever the right name to unstall it was is not there)
8) reinstalled windows (recovery) and all drivers... Read more

I frequently adjust my Power Manager settings depending on what I am doing. I would love a desktop icon which sends me directly to the window to make the power selection. Is there a way to make one?

A:Shortcuts to Power Manager Window?

Umm... right click on Power Options -> Create shortcut? It puts it on your Desktop.
