Adding Content Advisor to Internet Explorer 11, No "Content Page" folder in Group policy editor

Q: Adding Content Advisor to Internet Explorer 11, No "Content Page" folder in Group policy editor

I want to use Content Advisor in Internet Explorer 11. I have found a few post that say to use Local Group Policy Editor. However "Content Page" folder does not exist. I have checked the following locations:
Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer>Internet Control Panel>
User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer -> Internet Control Panel ->

Internet Control Panel has only two folders "security page" and "advanced page". The "Content Page" folder does not exist.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Computer originally had Vista on it IE 7 and Content Advisor was set up with password. Upgraded to Windows 7 and to IE 11.

When I go into Internet Options and click on "Content", Content Advisor doesn't show up.

The tutorials in the forum either led me to solutions based on Windows 8 or else gave me regedit keys that didn't match up with what I found after executing regedit.

I have the password and want to get to Content Advisor in order to remove the password.

A:How do I get Content Advisor to show up in "Content" in IE 11?

This tutorial works in Windows 7 as well. It is for IE 10 or IE 11.

The registry entries are added by the download file. You must exit IE if you are in it to make it take effect.

I just added it to my internet options using the tutorial.

I blocked a site on Internet Explorer 8 with a custom password. I was given the opportunity to put in a password "hint" to remind me of my password, which I did. I now don't want the password "hint" to come up every time I go into content advisor to enable or disable a site. Can I change this back somehow so that only the password box is showing and the hint is not?

How to disable from installing software using gpedit.msc?

User Account is Administrator.

I want to block different kinds of software.

Internet Download Manager

And also if the software was already installed like Google Chrome.

What will happen if chrome is updating? will the update be successful? even in group policy is restricted to install?
Thanks in advance.

A:Group Policy Editor "Disable Software Install"

Editing the Local Group Policy to block people from installing software is a little extreme in my opinion. It can certainly be done but it might just be easier to create another user account that is a standard user account and have everybody use that. If they try to install something, they will need admin permissions to do so.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi !
I recently added a HDD to my PC. I'm using that HDD only to store my personal stuff.
On that HDD, Windows Vista had been formerly installed (with another computer) and I did not feel any need to delete those old OS files before moving to my new computer. They could not hurt.
So I have a "Documents and settings" folder on the main HDD and another such folder (from Windows Vista) on the added HDD.
To my astonishment, I now see, when opening both those folders in Windows Explorer, that the old "Documents and settings" folder (on the added drive) has the same content, especially in the "Download" folder under my user name, as the new one. This I cannot explain.
Is it that Windows Explorer gets confused and gives me wrong information when opening the old D&S folder ?
Can anyone help me find the files which should be present in my old "Download" folder (on the added drive) ? There's no reason I can think of that I could not access the unmodified content of that folder..., but you may know better.
I'm looking forward to reading your possible answers, thank you !

My google skills are failing me. Someone introduced me to content controls, which are lovely, and when I asked them if it was possible to fill in one and have the others auto-fill, they showed me how using "paste as link" could do that, as long as I refreshed (I made a shortcut to "update all links" on my quick access toolbar and use that). My first question is, I have just been using the default "as:" selection of "HTML Format" when using paste as link - is there any reason to switch or will that work best?

My second question is that I had some trouble once I thought I had it right. I'd get the file working fine, set it as a template for future documents, and as soon as I did that I'd get "Error! Not a valid link." when I tried updating links. I finally (I think?) narrowed it down to the fact that I was changing the name of the file (I'd take one of my existing templates, make a copy with the word 'test' on the end, try out the paste as link thing, and if it worked like that, I'd delete my old template, remove 'test' off the new filename, and that's when it stopped working). Is this right? If so I'm wondering if there's a quick fix to make the links work again, or, if I decide to change the filename in the future, do I have to re-"paste as link" the entire document?

Thanks for your help.

Hello I have paid for and downloaded the game from Steam called Overkills The walking Dead. I have verified the integrity of the games files as the site asks me to do. I try launching the game and the pic below is the error message I get. This is a new computer that was just refurbished for me. I don't seem to have any other issues other than getting the game to run. When I sent this info to the person who sold me the computer he said it looked like it did not download properly. I have uninstalled and re installed the game and still no luck. I reached out 3 times to the email address provided by Steam for the game produces and they will not respond to me? Super frustrating.

Is it possible to delete safely the content of the "ReportQueue" dir?

Here is where it's located:

It seems like this dir is keeping error reports when I had some system crashes. But some of those crashes occured while working on my Digital Audio Workstation (which loads several Gigs of RAM) so some of these reports weight about 1GB each. I'd like to save some disk space, that's why I need to know if I can delete these directories without running into some future troubles.

I tried to run CCleaner but it doesn't go near this dir.
What do you think?

A:Is it safe to delete safel the content of the "ReportQueue" directory?

Win7 has it's own disk cleanup utility that does (I believe) include these files to be removed

Type disk into the start search bar run the disk cleanup app and when at the selection screen pay particular attention to the log files entries - your issue files should be shown under per user queued items.

It should actually be ok to manually delete these files but this way you will also remove them from any internal index of files awaiting transmission

I have an old Intel mp3 player. Intel's website stopped supporting it a long time ago but they do still suppply the XP driver. I couldn;t install the driver from Device Manager and went to the driver file itself. The computer produces a warning that "this file contains Active Content" and the computer won;t let the file open. I'n trying to open it from a folder, not from the website so this isn;t an IE warning, except it kind of is. It looks the same, it brought up the Intel website (I may have had it open) and the yellow security warning appeared. That has options to open it, I think.

The software on disc was associated with MusicMatch Jukebox. I had to install MusicMatch software before I could install the Intel player software.

SHould I let the file run?

In the PC settings, under network, I turned on Find Devices and Content. This sets my network type to Private, which allows other devices on my network to see and share files, etc. This works fine, except that every time I restart Windows, that setting gets turned back off, and it reverts my network connection to Public.

I'm running the latest updates for Windows 8.1. I have an onboard Intel 82579V NIC, connected via ethernet cable to my router.
I don't have any antivirus or anti-malware software running except for the built-in stuff from Microsoft. Is there some setting I missed somewhere to keep it from doing this?

A:"Find Devices and Content" turns off every time I reboot

Did you see the other thread that talks about basically the same problem?

Windows 8.1, "Find Devices and Content" missing

In your case this is normal behavior when you set your network to Public. That is why setting it to Private appears to fix the problem.

Besides setting the network to private you also need to turn on Network Discovery etc. in the Advanced Sharing settings.

Hi guys

I have a MS Word 2007 document, with a table of content, showing 4 levels of titles.
The problem is that the table of content shows, when I update it, some parts of the body text. It is more precisely, some titles of figures, tables, etc.. I have the feeling Word interpret them automatically as heading style 1, even they are in style normal. Maybe because they are centred??
I select the title of the figure then I click on:
- clear formating, or
- i select normal style again, or
- i select references, then add text, and select option do not show in table of content.

each time the title disapear from the TOC immediately. Then I save the document, but when i re-open, it the title is present again in the table of content....

i've tried saving the document in both .doc or .docx, same result.

Any idea what is going on??

thank you in advance for your reply

The biggest thing I dislike about Word (any version) is all the automatic stuff it's by default set to do. The worst is the "Autoformat as you type" feature. Have you checked the settings there?

I posted this on the Microsoft forums as well, but I have yet to find a solution on Google....

The title pretty much says it all. I am trying to use PS Media Server with Windows 8.1, but honestly whatever app I am using is irrelevant. The problem is, when I try to connect my PS3 to PS3 Media Server, it seems to require me to go into the right side menu, click settings, then change PC settings, then click network and then under connections, click my network connection and turn on "Find Devices and Content"

However, as you can see from my screen shot, that option is missing.

I am on my PERSONAL laptop, connected to a private network (it doesn't matter if I use my wireless or wired connection direct to the router it doesn't show up either way). I have tried enabling and leaving a homegroup, neither of which works.

Windows 8.1 has been a giant disappointment thus far, and this just adds fuel to the fire.

Having started to use Mozilla Thunderbird more often after spending 20 years using OE, I'm still having "learning-curve pains". One "feature" of T-bird is that when an e-mail comes in that contains "remote content" (which I interpret to mean some if it is coming from the Web), it blocks it. I have to click on the "Allow remote content..." link, which opens a filter window where I have to click OK to allow the content in this e-mail and all future e-mails from the same address.

I have NEVER had a problem with remote content -- for 20 years, so would like to stop T-bird from blocking it. It should be a Security option. It's not; at least I can find it there or anywhere else. Is it hidden somewhere. . . or is this another case of "developer arrogance" where no such option is provided?

A:Solved: Allowing "remote content" in T-bird

It's a security thing that can only be accessed through the configuration.
Tools>Options>Advanced>General tab>Config Editor button.
In the filter line type mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image or hunt in the list for it and double click the entry to toggle it to False.
Just be aware that it will now always load remote images from everywhere with no input from you.

I'm trying to find out when I first started editing a file.

This file was first copied from an existing file to serve as a template. In properties/details, "content created" has a date next to it.

Q.1. Is this the date I created the file, or would it be the date I first edited the file?

Q.2. If the latter, and if the first edit was simply to change the title on the first page before I began editing some months later, is there a way I can trace when and what I edited?

A:Word 2003 "Content Created" Question

Creation date would be the first time it was saved. Or if you did a save as...it would be that date.

There is a way to turn on versioning in 2003, Your looking for something like 'save version on close". In 2010 you get 'Always create backup copy'. Probably because the save version on close created a bloated document.

Greetings all. How do I add the keyboard shortcut command "ctrl+F" to the Internet Explorer context menu? I know where I need to go in the registry to add an item to the context menu of Internet Explorer, but I don't know how to add a keyboard shortcut.

A:Adding "ctrl+F" command to Internet Explorer context menu

I am not sure I understand. Ctrl+F activates the "Find on this page" search box in Internet Explorer (IE) and funcions when you are working in the IE window, there is no setting up required for this.

A right click on the IE icon for a "Find on this page" in the context menu will not be very useful since IE does not yet know what page you intend to look at. If you just want a search function for IE pages you can use the search box on the taskbar.

Hi everyone,

I have recently been granted admin rights on my work computer.

While the computer was locked down, the Aero visual effects were set to "adjust for best performance".

I can change it to "adjust for best appearance" and the Aero effects appear - until I reboot the computer. After the reboot, the checkbox is still set to "adjust for best appearance" however, the effects are disabled. I have to change the setting, change it back to best appearance and hit OK. Then everything works again.

The friend in IT who granted the admin rights told me that this is due to the group policy our company has set up - and that there is nothing he can do about it.

I have checked gpedit and regedit but could not find any relevant entries.

Do you have any idea how I could automagically adjust the settings back to best appearance after every reboot? I was thinking that if I cannot turn of the group policy myself, then maybe I could write some sort of script that changes to appearance settings for me (instead of me having to do it manually every time).

Looking forward to your thoughts

I enabled the Administrator Account, tried to manually modify the registry as another thread instructed me to do. That did not work. There was no duplicate account key with a .bak ending. Even after I accessed the hidden Administrator account, I encountered
the same error message. The computer will not let me create any new accounts.
I am not linked in to any servers, nor is my account a part of any larger network. My home does not even have internet, and I was not online when the problem occurred.
If anyone can help with this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I am totally lost.

A:"Windows cannot connect to the group policy client service"

This issue may occur when the following situations are true:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost was with wrong permissions
2. The Windows Firewall was enabled and wrong configured.
At this point, please grand proper permission on the registry key and disable Windows firewall to check the result.

Hello all!

I've been struggling with this a bit.  We are pushing IE 11 and would like to set the option under Internet options -> General -> Tabs, called "Open Links from other programs in" to "A new window" using Group Policy.
There is a group policy setting under User Configuration -> Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer, called "Prevent configuration of how windows open".  This looks like the right setting, but I set that, and I
can verify through the RSOP console that it applied, but the setting in IE does not change.
Can you help me with this?  I'm really stumped.
If you know how to make the change using the registry I'm also open to pushing that out VIA logon script.  Please let me know that solution too if you know it.

Thank you!

I have Windows 10 Pro.

I have Norton Internet Security Suite installed, so I don't need Windows Defender. But I keep getting a pop up saying "Windows Defender - This app is turned off by group policy."

How can I stop this pop up from, you know, popping up?

I am attempting to use bitlocker encryption but I am receiving the following error, "The Group Policy settings for bitlocker startup options are in conflict and cannot be applied. Contact system administrator for more information."

I HAVE changed the group policy settings to ALLOW bitlocker without a compatible TPM since I would like to use a USB key.

I made sure I am logged on as the administrator.

I am on Windows 7 pro.

I recently installed Win7 on a new drive for a home system - no work connection or IT department involved; 'did a Windows Update (the second in as many days, and no problem before,) with something like 7 ea. of Important and Optional updates selected. On reboot and login I got an error message at lower right that said something like "Windows cannot connect to Group Policy Client" plus a whole lot of verbiage thereafter about checking the event log, etc., but it disappeared before I could do a screen grab and transcribe the whole thing.

What is this "Group Policy Client" thing? 'Sounds like some kind of hackware to allow someone else to access and control my system on the sly. I've read a little about it in posts here and elsewhere on the web, and it seems to be a Windows program, but everything everybody's posted on it almost immediately goes straight over my head.

- Do I need this running? If so, how do I get it to do so when the error message says it "cannot connect?" Others say that their similar error message is accompanied with being locked out of processes, but everything here seems to be working normally otherwise - adding to the fear of having been hacked;

- My User Profile says I'm logged in as Administrator, but since this GPC thing is supposedly connected to user accounts, is there something I need to worry about?

The bottom line is that I want to ensure the system is secure - except, of course for the fri... Read more

run services.msc and check to see if you have a Group Policy Client. If so, right click on Properties and set it to Automatic.

Hey guys searching searching searching but didnt found the asnwer.
The problem we have alot of users and since 2 months we have 40 pc running windows 7.
Most of them work perfect (after alot of coding) but we run into some problems.
Some pc`s dont run the computer startupscript, we made a policy to run the computer script but on some computers it doenst work.
All the pc are the same, have the same security groups.
We have another policy "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" and we have the policy "
Run startup scripts synchronously"
So again everything works on most computers but some just don`t wait for the network, they skip the policy because the network isn`t ready yet?
Whats happening here?
Update: ok so i figured out that if i add a reg setting (or policy) that it works but i have to wait for 60 sec before the network/pc is ready, were all on the same network some people have no problems some do.
regsetting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon "GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue"=dword:00000019
regsetting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters "DisableDHCPMediaSense"=dword:00000001
Its 60seconds right nog if i put it to 24 sec the startup computerscript isnt triggered! at 60  seconds it works!
So its odd that some pc have no problem and some have to wait for 60 seconds before everything works.....
Is there a retry... Read more

Vista won't let me logon, I get a message :
"The Group Policy Client Service failed the logon"

"Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service"

I've been trying to narrow this problem down for the last few days.

I did a system restore back a number of days, no user programs were installed, but there were system updates installed. Once I do the system restore and turn off the updates, the computer reboots fine and I can log in.

However, if I let the MS updates in, then when I reboot, I get the error and cannot logon.

Clearly there is a problem when the updates happen, and causes this. I originally thought it was due to a specific MS update, but I think it's the update process that is broken. That is what kills the system configuration and then it can't logon.

If anyone has an idea here, I'd really appreciate it.

This is Vista 32 with SP2.

Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
I adjusted Group Policy so additional authentication (PIN) would be required.
I thought I would need to uncheck the first option (Allow BL w/o TPM) because I want to require TPM.
When I rebooted (and after enabling TPM - F10), I attempted to activate Bitlocker (via the Control Panel) and this error message displayed:
"The Group Policy settings for BitLocker startup options are in conflict and cannot be applied.  Contact your system administrator for more information."
After (re)checking the first option (Allow BL w/o TPM) and leaving the default settings, except for the Require PIN and TPM option...
I redid the entire process (F10 to enable TPM and so forth), but when attempting to activate Bitlocker for the second time, this message displayed:
"The Group Policy settings for BitLocker startup options are in conflict and cannot be applied.  Contact your system administrator for more information."
I had a window of opportunity to make this happen, given the time it can take to actually encrypt the drive, and I was not able to make this happen.
I do not like not being able to make things hap... Read more

I just had the same issue today, so here is what doesn't work with you :
If you have a motherboard and a BIOS compatible with a TPM, you can uncheck the first option "Allow Bitlocker without a compatible TPM".
Then, Microsoft has made a mistake with the terms that are being used (in my point of view) : in fact, you have to understand you cannot "require" an option if you "allow" some others...
So you have 2 choices :
 - either you "allow" each option so you can choose which one when you set Bitlocker on,
 - or you can "require" an option and disable all the others, so you will not be able to make a choice when you set bitlocker on.
I hope that is clear enough...
