I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

If there is no heatshink on the the video chip you would not apply thermal paste to it, because the thermal paste's only purpose is to more efficiently transfer heat to the heatshink.

A:G470 - Bluetooth not working after installing Windows 10 on G470

Hi ashu2000 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Checking on the Lenovo supported systems list for Windows 10 Upgrade ,  "not listed, it hasn?t been tested for Windows 10 upgrade and is not supported. " for the G570 .
Same reasons why on the support site , drivers for windows 10 is not available.
There are claims that it works ok but some have reported devices and apps not working after the upgrade.
You may check related threads here .
Would there be any yellow or black down arrow marks on the device manager .
If that is the case , then you may want to try checking the hardware ID to download specific driver directly from the manufacturer if the Windows 8.1 version driver would not help.
Example for Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver or use windows updates to install appropriate drivers
On device manager , you may also use built in drivers in Windows 10  doing upgrade drivers and, browse on this pc , let me pick option, and choose recommended ones on the list .
Hope this helps.

I encountered the BSOD with the problem about atikmpag.sys It seems like I made a wrong choice about deleting it, (solution from internet searching)  and now the Display Adapters doesn't work anymore as you can see in the pictures  after deleting the atikmpag.sys during safe mode, It somehow resolved the problem about the BSOD and my laptop are finally starting properly now the problem is about the resolution, it's not the same anymore, it's too low and somehow the screen is blurry, as you can see at the Graphics section, the maximum resolution I can only choose is 1024 x 768, which is supposed to be 1366 x 768 (HD) if i'm not mistaken,   I need your help on how to fix this I hope i can turn it back to normal., I don't have a CD installer (if it is supposed to have one) to re-install it, and about downloading from other sites I'm a little bit concerned about that so I haven't tried it yet.. and it seems like Lenovo has its own installer... Pls help ASAP

A:Lenovo G470 atikmpag.sys problem

hi jm9327,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
The G470 with a dual GPU (Intel+AMD), uses a muxless driver (this is a custom driver that switches the discrete AMD Graphics to the Intel Graphics to save power). If you have installed a different driver, this may cause system instability (including BSOD).
If you're running on Windows 7, try the following::
1. Follow this guide on how to disable automatic driver installation.
2. Install these drivers in order (reboot if necessary)
(1st)  - Intel Onboard Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
   (2nd)  - AMD Video Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)
When finished, check if the yellow exclamation marks are gone under Device Manager > Display Adapters and observe the screen resolution adjustment and BSOD occurrence.
Let me know how it goes.

(I am only writing this because my parents refuse to listen to me and they want "Lenovo" to help me with this problem.)So I own a Lenovo G470 (Ideapad) that I bought in 2011. About 7 months ago, the laptop's hinges started to become lose and then since 4-5 months, bits and pieces of the laptop case keep falling apart/breaking around the hinges. It was a bit bothersome but nothing too serious. However, last week the laptop's screen became tilted (??) like one hinge/side is up and the other is down. It's almost diagonal. And the wire connecting to the laptop screen is exposed (i dont know how) maybe because the hinge's piece broke so the wire is exposed and it's almost on the verge of breaking too. (Ill be attaching the pics of the laptop below.)My warranty expired ages ago. But I dont mind paying for the repair. Is there a way if I contact a real Lenovo store nearby and ask them to "repair" my broken laptop. My parents would rather spend 80-140 dollars repairing this than buy me a new 700/800 dollar laptop.Honestly, if some of you wanna tell me that this laptop is beyond repair, believe me I know! My parents refuse to listen to me -_- So this is just to prove them Im right. FRONT:- https://imgur.com/4viSonH- https://imgur.com/D1pX3I0LEFT SIDE:- https://imgur.com/IKEdGI4- https://imgur.com/L6HmMPw- https://imgur.com/7qk0CMm- https://imgur.com/j5usW0nRIGHT SIDE:- https://imgur.com/wjONWoE- https://imgur.com/peerlHE- https://imgur.com/JU81ZrI- https://imgur.com/gvsWs5S- https... A:My laptop's falling apart.. Lenovo G470

If you think you have a flat tire do you keep on going until the tire disintegrates and you destroy the rim? That's what you did to your own laptop. You should've taken action as soon as you noticed something is happening with the hinge. There's not much you can do right now to fix it. Only thing I'd advise is to find a broken one online with the body intact (at least when it comes to the bottom part and hinges). e.g. with a smashed screen and make a transplant. Have it done by a professional if you can't do it on your own.

Hello, I have a Lenovo g470, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get an Ivy Bridge processor. The manual says the following ones are compatible: Intel I7-2620M 2.7G 4M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2540M 2.6G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2520M 2.5G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2410M 2.3G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I3-2310M 2.1G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU. But as it Ivy Bridge are backwards compatible with SB, I wonder if I could get a 3ª processor and put in this mobo. If not, does it worth to change from i3 2310m to anyone of these above?? i5 2540m has 200mhz higher clock on gpu and i7 has more l3 cache(4MB), or should I just leave like this?? I appreciate any help. Thank you.  (Sorry for my bad english)

A:Lenovo G470 battery connection lost

Hi Mkmm9,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing an issue with the battery charging.
Please disconnect all the external devices connected to the system. Also remove battery and adapter as well.
Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and turn on the machine and check for the issue.
Remove the battery from your laptop and check the battery connection "pins" in the laptop. The pins are the vertical slots in the center of the battery tray. See if perhaps one or more may have been bent enough to not make contact with the battery pins. Also check to see if lint, dirt or some other foreign matter has gotten between the pins on either the battery or the laptop. Have you tried the battery from the other laptop? If a different battery doesn't work, your problem is with the laptop pins. One or more may have broken or become disconnected. Try all possible combinations to narrow down the trouble spot.
Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.
Best regards,

Which version of Windows you have shouldn't affect how your battery is charged up so it's probably just coincidence.

You may be needing a new battery. Do you have anyone nearby who can check the battery for you?

After spending an inordinate amount of time searching the internet about my problem, and then contacting Lenovo (who told me it was hardware and I needed to return all of the laptops I bought), I managed to magically find the solution to my problem.  Since it wasn't documented elsewhere on the internet, I thought I'd create a post for it here. The problem I was having was that my Lenovo G470 laptop did not display Press F2 to Enter Setup during the boot process, and because of this, no amount of hammering the F2 button would allow access to the BIOS.  I attempted all of the standard fixes, pulled the battery, held power down for 30 seconds, removed the HDD -- nothing would cause this to appear.  Since it was happening on all 3 of the G470s we just purchased, I didn't believe it was hardware.  I reached out to Lenovo Premium Support, and after about 3 minutes of discussion, "Paul" informed me that all three machines were defective and would have to be sent back in for repair, and it would take 4-6 weeks for repair and diagnosis.   As I had been noodling around with the machines for a few days, ONE of the three ended up showing the bios options during the boot process.  At that point, I had been hitting just about every single key on the keyboard during the boot process, so I couldn't identify what it was that I did that caused the options to appear.  A little more troubleshooting and I figured it out: Lenovo G470 machines equip... Hello everyone. I have a Lenovo G470 laptop, i'm having few problems with wireless connection. Some months ago I was using normally my laptop and then I had a internet problem, so I tried to disable my adapter in network connections and then it has dissapeared from my connections.. Then I tried to look on Device Manager in Network Connections tab, my driver was gone.. I already tried everything.. Actually, I'm using Usb wi-fi for using internet on it and Lan cable. 1. Tried to reinstall my wi-fi driver.2. Tried to enable on bios.3. Installed Fn+f5 thing, ps: It only shows up Bluetooth... Also in Windows Mobility Center has no wi-fi to enable.4. Turned on wireless key in left side of laptop, no results.. 5. And last thing, reinstalled windows like 2-3 times, and still no wi-fi..  I really don't know what is happening with my wi-fi, I'm tired to search in a million sites for fixes and no one worked.. So I'm posting this if someone could help with this problem. PS: Sorry for bad english, my main lang is portuguese

Hi everyone, first post here!
My laptop is currently causing me some aggravation regarding fast startup. It is a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 I have upgraded to Windows 8 and then 8.1 and an SSD and up to now has been performing flawlessly.
Recently, with the fast startup option enabled, the computer has been shutting itself off completely after the startup animation and requires the power button pressing again before it will boot up, in 'normal startup' speed.
I have tried disabling and re enabling fast startup, using the 'powercfg -h off' and 'powercfg -h on' commands to recreate the hiberfil.sys file and that's about all I can think of. It still behaves the same, turning itself off completely immediately after the startup animation.
Anyone got any ideas to resolve this?

A:Fast startup causing problems - Lenovo Thinkpad X220

Fast startup has worked a couple of times in the meantime - I swapped the wireless card yesterday and reinstalled some drivers to resolve some unrelated issues and it started working again. Yay! I thought - but after the first couple of goes it started doing the same thing again and shutting off after the animation!

This has been extremely frustrating for me. I come home from working and my cousin tells me my computer keeps going blue and restarting. So now my computer will only run in safe mode. I have spybot/Kaspersky(won't run in safe mode)/AVS4 none of them seem to do the trick. From what I can tell it seems to be the win 32 virus, every time I get rid of it it seems to come back. I would get rid of it then my computer would be fine now it won't run in normal at all.

Only thing I could think of is reformat using a thumb drive but all I have is a 1gb and I dont have the money to go out and buy a new one. So now im fresh out of ideas. Is there anyway I can fix this without going out and buying a new dvd drive/usb?

Also im running windows 7 ultimate and I get blue screen of death when running GMER in the middle of scanning so i cant upload a log from it. I can tell theres a rootkit installed atleast two because before it crashes it shows two on the hardisk along with other minor ones

From what I understand  your notebook works fine when using English keyboard layout, but does not work as expected if you change to Spanish keyboard layout.
Check your BIOS for a language or region setting and adjust as needed.  Also - look in control panel for keyboard settings and install additional keboard layout for Spanish.
Good luck.

That BSOD stop code usually points to a problem with the Hard Drvie (HD) that is preventing it from booting.   If you have another computer running Windows 7, 8.1 or 10, you could Create a System Repair Disk that you can use to boot your laptop, and from the tools on the CD, run a chkdsk of the hard drive.   You can also use another computer to create download the Windows 10 install media directly from Microsoft, and use it to boot your system and attempt a repair, but if your HD is actually going bad, attempting any sort of repair may just make the chance of recovering your important data less likely. If you have data on the existing HD that you simply cannot bear losing, I would leave it off, and take the system to a good local computer shop and have them try to recover your data off the HD before attempting any sort of repair.    A good PC repair shop will be able remove the HD from your laptop, attach it to another computer, and attempt backing up your data off the old drive for you.    How to create a Windows System Repair DiscInsert a blank writable CD or DVD into your CD/DVD driveSelect  Start >> Run and type:  recdisc  and press enter.Select "Create Disk"Good Luck,

I keep having various BSODs on boot only, and after some hours of searching, it seems to come down to memory addressing out of range with drivers, according to the web. However, I could be wrong, and that is why I'm here. NTFS.sys, kernel errors, and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, 0x0000007E, seem to be the popular ones that have occurred and all multiple times over the last few months. I've nuked all the drivers and updated all the ones I can think of from chipset to peripherals. I'm tired, and not as experienced as the people here with debugging, so I figured I'd dump my report and ask for help. What is causing this boot freeze-up? Also, it doesn't happen every time. I can restart the computer up to 3 times max, and once in windows it is fine no matter how long I use it, or what hardware I use. ZIP is attached. Thanks!

I've been having BSOD for months now and I've tried changing the hardrive, but that didn't work. I get different messages it is not the same one all the time.

I have a lot of minidumps if someone could please take a look I would appreciate it.

I'll upload a couple .dmp files from new to old. I will appreciate any help. I've tried my hardest to investigate it on my own but I can't seem to find the source, my knowledge is just not enough.

ps: I am thinking it might be the Ram or the GPU (GTX 780) that is causing problems because it happens mostly when I am playing a game or watching a video online (chrome). Also don't know if it could be cause by high temperatures on the GPU ( although I doubt it because my airflow is ok and watching videos online doesn't tax it too much. ).

Please read the pinned topics at the top of the forum for instructions on how to post there.
If the BSOD's continue after they give you the "all clear", then Please run this report collecting tool so that we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location. (By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop)
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.
If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Corsair V64 Nova Series SSD, installed windows7 on it, works ok for a few days then i start getting random BSOD's well, mainly within the first few minutes of windows loading.

So, i re-installed windows, everything was working fine for a few days, then the BSOD's again.

I thought this was a RAM issue at first, then a driver issue but everything works fine withought the SSD.

About 10 minutes ago i switched my computer on, was greeted with the all too familiar blue screen, but check this out, after it restarted i got "BOOTMGR image is corrupted, system cannot boot"

So i manually restarted and here i am now, running perfectly fine, and will do for any duration, until i switch off and leave for a few hours.
Can anyone confirm this is pointing to my SSD?

Thanks for reading

My first suggestion/question.

Have you updated the ssd firmware?

Whenever I try to put my laptop into sleep mode, it always just hangs and then about 10 mins later it will automatically restart and I'll get a message saying :

"Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown

I'm including the .dmp file in hope that someone can find the culprit ! I'm certain it's a driver issue I just don't know which one.

I'm running Win 7 Home Premium 32

Thanks I hope to get to the bottom of this once and for all !

The Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following:
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

Hey all,

Lately I've been having some BSOD and I'm not sure what's causing them. I've had 3 different crashes as I mentioned in the title. It seems to be really random, yesterday I had 2 while trying to play a game so I thought that was it but then it wouldn't do it again, today I got one while I was just browsing in Chrome.

I'm not sure what to look for as this isn't something I do a lot, any help would be really appreciated!

I've added the required file to this post.

A:BSOD, 50 / 3b / 0a. Not sure what is causing it.

There isn't much information to be honest. Two of the bugchecks are 3B which are system service exceptions, these are generally caused by graphics drivers. Now it says in the 3B bugchecks are caused by win32k.sys which is the system windowing driver which makes sense if it graphics related. I've looked at your driver date and it was released last december, can you try updating it. If that doesn't work can you please enable Driver Verifier by following these instructions. Here's some instructions how to update the graphics driver for AMD graphics cards.

I got the new PC in February 2011 and it was working fine till some weeks ago.
It started to give me BSOD and every time after the restart the PC would crash
again after 4-5 min, even in safe mode. Not knowing what to do i started to research
about the problem on the internet and found some treads, mostly saying
that the crash can be caused by bad software, driver or ram. I tried to restore
the PC to a date before the BSOD but eventually it happened again. At the end i
reinstalled the entire windows but the problem persisted. The last thing i tried is to
take out the rams (2X), one at a time.
The result was that the PC didn't get any BSOD with one ram in
place. After taking one ram bar out, the BSOD wouldn't stop. After replacing one
bar with the one taken out, the pc started to work without BSOD. The paradox is
that i inserted the second bar again and the PC worked fine for the rest of the day
with both bars, but when i turned on the PC the other day, the BSOD would
happen again and the drill was the same, taking the second bar out.
Now, the weirdest thing is that the ram bars are identical because they were
bought at the same time, even more, in the same package, so the theories about
non equal rams don't fit the story. Don't know what could i do or write more
(except the system info i' ll write now ).

A:Ram causing BSOD

Test them for a few hours.

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Roadkil's RAM Test
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista or 7, tap F8 on boot and choose the memory diagnostic, or if you can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

So i have a huge problem. Sometimes when i play games or i'm just on skype i get BSOD. I have:

2.8GHz processor (ill check the name shortly)
12gb RAM (3X4gb)
850W charger or whatever you call it.
Asus radeon 7850 2gb

Ok, so the ram is like 2 weeks old, because i only had 4 gb of rAm and with the amount of application ang games i had it was WAY too little. The graphics card is 3 months old, so new too but everything else incl. My motherboard and processor is around 3 years old. I formated my computer and reinstalled win7 64 like 3 times last week (dont ask why). There is also a problem where some games just crash and close. So i think Ram or graphivs card isnt the problem, overheating probably isnt either because i have 10 fans and
I only play like 2hours max a day due to school.

I aint
Sure about software but i'm not using anything weird only that ihave 2 screens and use some software for the taskbar.

Although a month ago the 2 lower legs of my processor cooling fridge broke and my computer overheated waaay to muchxand it closed my computer several times, but the computer guy in the store said that everything is still fine.

Now look, i aint some computer genius, so if you could, please make your answers short ot i wont undersand anything
Or just tell me whih part of my comp you think is broken. :D

If uxwant additional info please just say.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes i was wriing on my phone :P

I decided not to install sp2 and stay on sp1 for a coupls of days and everything is running smoothly. No crashes and stuff like that. could sp2 be causing BSOD?

my specs are

a8n-sli deluxe mobo
amd 3500+
1 gb of ram
win xp pro service pack 1

A:sp2 causing BSOD

could be many things such as driver conflict. before you uninstalled service pack 2, have you tried it running with the updates?

also post the bsod error and ill see what i can do to help you. one more thing check the eventlog and see if get any errors. right click on my computer -> click on manage -> click on eventviewer -> double click on applications and look for "X" marks which are errors.

Hi, this is my first time posting but i thought id give it a go.

A few months ago i did a complete rebuild of my computer, fresh windows install, the works.
At first i had some problems with the odd blue screen but i thought i had the problem fixed after i did a complete re-install of some graphics drivers.

However after having no major problem for a couple of months i found that when sitting down at my computer it was once again sitting at the login screen, after logging in i was surprised to find that it had once again blue screened.

And so i have come to the seven forums in the hope of finding what is causing this happen as i'm completly stumped as to what is causing this to happen.

Thanks for an assistance

A:Hal.dll causing BSOD

Hi Fingerzz.

hal.dll is hardware abstruction layer; and stop 0x124 means hardware failure.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Also do some hardware tests:

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Let us know the results.
