Problem with franklin u300 modem and cradlepoint ctr500 modem

Q: Problem with franklin u300 modem and cradlepoint ctr500 modem

I have searched high and low for an answer and am at a loss as to how to fix this issue. I have a u300 modem that with smart view or just drivers seems to work fine directly hooked to my computers. However when try to attach to the cradlepoint router it recognizes the modem however it shows it as off line and network miss configured.

Both modem and router have up to date firmware. I have used 3 different ctr500 routers with the same result. And yes it is compatible according to cradlepoint. And yes I have tried to connect another usb device that a friend had and it connected with no problems.

My service provider is melinicom who is a reseller for the sprint network and yes the device is a sprint franklin u300 device

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Well, plug and pray has failed me. Ah, the wonderful experience of being an earlier OS adopter.

Well, I upgraded to Win8 when I bought a new SSD for my desktop, clean install.

I have rather limited internet choices where I'm located, but I do have full 4G coverage so I found a sweet deal with Virginmobile's Broadband2Go. Well, on to the real problem, the drivers are failing to install correctly in Win8.

I got through the install process and it informs me the drivers have been successfully installed. The software that accompanies the modem launches fine, but it will not recognize the device. After looking at the device manager I find it says the driver were unable to be initialized and gives the error code 37. I've been doing everything I could think of the last couple hours to no avail.

In Win7 there is an issue with the driver installer getting stuck trying to update the drivers online when there is no internet connection. This was easy enough to stop manually in Win7. I wonder if the same or similar issue is causing the issue in Win8.

Hi!
I have used Windows 8 for weeks now. Last week all my VPN connections and UMTS modems suddenly stopped working. Before they were working perfectly. Whenever I try to connect to our company's SSTP VPN I get an error 633 "The modem (or other connecting device)
is already in use". I get the same error when trying to connect to the internet with my UMTS stick. Both connections (VPN and UMTS stick) work fine on other computers.
This is what I already did:

Restarted the PC (of course) - did not help.Recreate the VPN connection from scratch - did not help, same error.Looked into device manager (with and without devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices) - no errors shown there.Created a RAS log (see relevant pieces below) - I did not find the root cause of my problem there.
Anyone having an idea how I could analyze the problem any further?

First, I have a computer which is connecting with an external modem. It has worked fine for a year, but now the modem connects then redials over and over again. It is connecting and verifying then says logged on then immediately redials. I have replaced the external modem with the same result. It's on COM3 and I changed that and the modem speed. I'm thinking about reloading windows because I'm out of ideas. What do you think? It's windows 2000 pro.

Now on my Mom's computer. I got mad and deleted here TCP/IP Dial-up in Network Neighborhood because she was going over her 5 hour limit on the internet and yelling at me about it. So I quickly disconnected it because when I deleted the dial-up connection my nephew made a new one and took her over her 5 hours again. Long story, sorry. Needless to say I broke it. She has Windows ME and I haven't been able to add the TCP/IP Dial-up back and get it working? I don't know what else to try. Any ideas?

Hi Everyone,

I can't seem to access my Westell 2200 from the usual address: 192.168.1.1
I can't remember if I may have changed any settings to have this happen. I know my DLink 634m has no addresses with 192.168.1.1 configured with it.

I've even tried connecting the modem directly to a computer to access it and no luck. I've already done the "hold reset for 10 seconds". Is there another way to do a hard reset so everying on the modem is factory default? Is there another way around this? I can't access my modem and I can't get Internet either.

Thanks in advance

I know I have the modem hooked up right, I know the dial up is hooked up right, It keeps saying there is no dial tone so I unchecked the dial tone detection and you could hear the modem dial up right away but it would dial once and then nothing. There is a phone dialer hooked up on this computer will that make a difference if it will dial out or not? there is only one place to plug the RJ11 line in. Most have the phone jack and the line jack this one doesn't. This guy had a bunch of spyware and a few trojans etc on his computer and asked it I would help him. I caught a bunch of stuff but I have to be able to dial up so I can update the programs I am running. Need some suggestions, Thanks The modem is a HCF 56K MCI Modem and like I said it is hooked up right you can query it and it gets answers and no dial tone but unchecking the dial tone detection box you can then hear it dial up but does it once and then nothing. My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.

In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there any way to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901?

Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection. I am using Windows 7.

I don't know the model or the type. The stuff I put in when installing it in the control panel(it was already physically installed in the computer, but wasn't dialing) is a bunch of guesses.

This is all the info I have about a modem that refuses to work right:

"Port: COM1" - I set it up that way when intalling through the control panel and I have no idea if that's how it should be set up.
"Interrupt: 4
Address: 3F8
UART: NS 16550AN
Standard 56000 bps V90 Modem" - Again, I set the bold part up when installing via the control panel and have no idea if that's set up right.

"Identifier: USRK2_Gen"

I googled the identifier and found that it was a USRobotics modem, but that's all I know about it.

A:Connect a Wireless Modem to ADSL modem for Wifi

The "nokia siemens SL2_141" is a modem/wireless router combo; I assume that "A Wireless Modem of MTS" is also a modem/wireless router combo.

If my assumption is correct you can use the Nokia as an ethernet switch and wireless access point ...

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If ther... Read more

Hi

I am trying to install a new ethernet modem/router to replace my speedtouch usb modem given to me by Orange.

However when I power down unplug the old usb modem and plug in the new ethernet modem/router nothing happens. I have gone to network connections and clicked on LAN and clicked obtain an IP address automatically. Within network connections I also have the Orange connection which I have also tried doing it on.

Am I being completely stupid here? Can I not use the new modem/router that doesn't belong to Orange?

The modem/router I have is a D-Link G624T.

If someone could give me some advice I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

PS I have also tried using the IP gateway thing and it just says the page cannot be displayed...

Basically, I want to use software like UltraVNC to be able to control a remote computer with my host computer. Neither computer will have access to the internet and are connected via two external modems. Can anyone give me the step by step procedure for this and how it is done?

Thanks,

Hey, I am trying to install a USB WWAN modem on my Vista laptop (2.33 ghz, 2 gb ram) and when i follow the instructions on the software provided, it says to insert the usb modem and let windows recognize it and install it, and go from there.

the problem is, once i put in the usb drive, vista recognizes that there is a new device in, but once it tries to install it, it won't recognize any drivers on the disc thats inserted, and doesn't find anything on the rest of the computer.

I would say check the mfg website and see if you cant find some updated drivers for it or even check google and see if anyone has "hacked" the XP drivers into working with Vista. I know that Vista's been having lots of issues with past and current third party products and so it could just be that your modem is incompatible with Vista or you just need to look a bit more for newer drivers.

Hi All...

I just got a new PC on Monday - here are the specs off the top of my head (I am at work, PC is at home) - HP Pavillion 764, 2.6 Ghz., 512 MB DDR Ram, Lucent Modem, 120 GB hard drive, 128 MB nVidia GeForce MX 440 video card, Windows XP Home.

I connect via MSN 8 dial up. No cable/dsl in my area at all.

Ok, with my old PC I would get a consistent connection of 32000 bps. Now, with the new PC I am connecting at 21.6 or 24000 bps - which makes for a huge performance hit since I am an online gamer.

I was ok with the 32k connection - a lot of latency - but this is worse with the 21 & 24k connection.

I am still using the same phone lines, dialing the same #'s and using the same version software for internet connection.
The only difference is the PC, OS & Modem really.

Why am I connecting slower now and how can I fix this?
Do you think I should swap modems?

Thanks

So I am updating my churches network and came to a setup I have never seen before. No one at my church knows anything about the setup except when they built the addition (about 5 years ago) they ran "a bunch of Cat5". They ran 3-8 jacks in every room. I have a closet full of about 50 cat5 cables of which only 16 actually have RJ45s on them and only 5 of which actually go to a computer. That stuff I was able to figure out. What perplexes me is the hardware setup.... I have seen modem to router to switch.

This install has a Comcast Modem with a built in 4 port router. 2 lines go to separate magic jack pro jacks. One is a straight cable to a wireless linksys router. The last is a straight cable to a 16 port switch. There is then a crossover cable from the wireless router to the switch as well. So on the switch port 15 goes direct to the modem and port 16 is a crossover to the router and back to the same modem..... I can figure out for the life of me why there is a loop going on here.

In either case the setup worked. So the duplicate line did not have an issue. I am so lost.

A:Modem to Router to Switch back to Modem, what....?

I would disconnect the cable going from the switch back to the modem/router combo. You're right. This loop is not proper. Loops should never exist on a switched network. I'm curious as to whether traffic is being forwarded around the network properly or if the switch being used has spanning tree support and might have shut down one of the ports wired up to the upstream network device.

Hi all,

I bought a HP Pavilion computer last year that came with a Connexant 56K soft modem. I surf the net on this machine with a standard telephone line ... the speed that I get is therefore predictably slow.

Upgrading to a cable modem / DSL is of course an option, but I'm wondering if a new hard modem will alleviate some of my pain. So my questions are,

1. Will I really see an appreciable difference in speed if I do away with my soft modem ?

2. If yes, how do I go about upgrading ? I could buy a new modem in any store, but then how do I uninstall / remove this Connexant soft modem ?

3. Which are the best modems in the market which provide value for money ? Say priced upto $100 ?

Appreciate your responses.

thanks

A:Upgrade from a soft modem to a hard modem ?

Can't say much about the speed although the hard modem will definitely take some of the load off of your cpu. Everything processed by the software modem is done by cpu, hardware modem will do it's own to my understanding. Once you go to cable or dsl you'll never go back, all I will say about that.

A:How to configure wifi modem having router with DSL modem ?

Hi there,

On the second router, DHCP needs to be disabled and assign a fixed IP within the router's IP scope (with Wi-Fi capability) i.e. 192.168.1.3 (make sure that 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.3 will be in the IP exclusion list).

Hi tecchies,

I'm stuck with having to use an ISDN modem at one office whilst connecting from another office.

Can I use a PSTN modem to call an ISDN modem? I appreciate the speed limitations of doing this, just wondering if it possible.

Unfortunatly, I cannot have ADSL on site and the communications is initiated from the PSTN office (meaning I cant use ISDN dial up Internet).

Thanks in advance.

I have a ZyXel Q1000Z DSL Modem/Router combo and it's only connecting me at 130 mbps so I'd like to use my own router, a DIR-655 to connect me at 300 mbps. There isn't a WAN port coming out of the Q1000Z, USB port and 4 LAN ports.

How can I do this?

Can't the DSL is the input and ALL connections to the device will (internally) use the router portion. The bandwidth you see is NOT restricted by the internal router however - - it's the DSL itself.

I recently updated my high speed internet with a Rogers high speed wi-fi modem. Initially I could log into the wi-fi network but after changing the wi-fi modem password I cannot login using wi-fi......my laptop still recognises the old modem password and I cannot input the new password. How do I change the password connection.....it does not ask to change it when I try to connect.

Hi~not been on here for a while (took me an age to remember log in etc!) which is a good sign as everything has been ticking along quite merrily...then I thought I would catch up with 21st century and the fun began
Ok~I have just purchased a 'Belkin ADSL modem with wireless G router and wireless G usb network adapter', was so proud of myself until I wanted to intall it etc.
It would seem that I have the wrong modem~I presently have an ADSL speedtouch which has a fixed connection into it so am unable to use etheral wire. (I've confused myself already!)
I have an old 105 Voyager that I was given when I was with BT but it won't let me install it, even using disk I still have (tried it on notebook laptop too~keeps telling me I don't have administrator rights blah blah blah).
I am currently getting my broadband from Orange~If I upgrade with them they want to charge me a small fortune initially and then monthly which I have told them to poke!

*Is there anyway of using present speedtouch with belkin wireless?
*If not, if I purchase an ADSL modem (without a fixed connection!) what do I need to do then!? Uninstall speedtouch-install new modem? But will my Orange broadband still work if internet connection not 'coming through' Orange provided speedtouch?
*If need to buy different modem, where is the cheapest/best/easiest place for me to go either on foot or online?

Sorry it's long winded but it's late and it's been driving a little c... Read more

Hi, I have a strange question that im hoping can work (for a fortnight at the most lol)

I have just joined Virgin Media on 20meg connection. They sent me out an Ambit E08C013.00 modem but forgot to send out the router. Then the engineer installs the wallbracket lobsided! But anyway, im getting away from my question.

I have to wait up to 2 weeks for my router and in the meantime, my computer is upstairs and my connection is downstairs! I dont want to buy a router that will last me 2 weeks, so I decided to dig out my old BT Voyager 2091 router. I connected it to my Netgear FS208 v2 ethernet network switch and now I am trying to get it to broadcast my BB signal from my Ambit modem (which is also connected to my Netgear switch)

I can now connect to my wireless router, but it will not broadcast my broadband.

Is there a way to fix this? Or do I have to wait till my new router arrives?

I was told I would have to buy a ($99!!) Embarq 660 DSL modem directly from Embarq to get my DSL service started... my question: is there another modem (cheaper) that is compatible with it? I've already looked on ebay and craigslist for used Embarq ones.

TIA

A:DSL modem compatible with Embarq 660 modem?

speaking in the UK
a lot of isps like to insist on using there modem/routers and will only provide support to you if you have there router / modem, in some cases, you can get a better price from the ISP....

Some dont care what you put on and also offer support .... Theres quite a few in the UK, ukonline, pipex

sounds like Embarq is one of those, you have to have our equipment or we will not give you any support

some useful information here, a lttle old but some useful tips that are still relevant

Can anyone help me find a driver for a modem. I don't know the maker of the modem and I have no drivers that will work on it. The modem does work but I was forced to format my hard drive and when reloading the software I discovered that I did not have a modem driver. I pulled the card and looked at it but I could not see a manufacture on it.
It does have a maple leaf on it so I think it might be from Canada. It's a 56k modem in a windows 98 machine. It has a chip on it that says datatronics.
Is there anything like a generic driver for a modem?
Hey any help will be greatly appreciated.
I got out the old magnifying glass and yes it was made in Canada and it has a model number on it.
Model number:M56HI
Serial # 117072
REN:0.5B
and this might refer to a manufactures name: BRI
There is also a bar code on this thing and some numbers next to it which are: GA06PX 4260-03

Thanks

I replaced a hard drive and did a fresh install of Win 98. I am unable to get the modem to work. The modem is recognized in the device manager, but when I try to use it, I get an error message #603, modem is not responding. Before changing hard drives, this modem worked just fine. Also the previous hard drive was loaded with Win 95. I have tried two (2) different sets of drivers, to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My cable modem feeds a router that has 4 ports. One is to a switch, the other to my pc and the last 2 for internet phones.

My wife wishes to get a wireless router for the entire house.

My question is: Is there a way to hook a wireless router to the switch so I can keep my current hardwire network and establish a wireless network so that users in my home can logon anywhere in the house?

At present PC No.1 can dial the other and view the files on PC No.2, however PC No.2 cannot see files on PC No.1. Likewise PC No.1 can dial PC No.2 but PC No.2 can dial PC No.1 but always gets the 'Engaged' tone. I want both PC's to 'See' each other and to be able to share files (I have already shared the relevant directories). I can 'Ping' each PC (both ways) successfully but dont seem to be able to connect or share in a particular direction i.e. PC No.2 looking at PC No.1. What am i doing wrong that prevents me setting the system up as a sharing network?

I dont think you can use modems to network your computers. I believe you need network cards to make this work right.

Did you search google for idea's? Or TechTV is also a good source.

My uncle has an HP all in one unit Omni running Home Edition SP1 64 bit that connects using a cable modem. The other day it stopped connecting and Ipconfig displayed an invalid IP address - 169 something.

I brought his unit home and connected it to my DSL modem. Immediate connection. IP address 192 something. I took it back to his house and it didn't connect again. He had the cable guys there for 3.5 hours Tuesday. They showed him that their laptop connected using his modem. I wasn't there to see it.

However he has an ancient XP laptop that connects just fine using his modem.

I now have his unit here at my house, and, once again, it's working perfectly.

The ONLY fly in the ointment is that when I took it back to his house it stayed on the Starting Windows screen. For about 5 minutes. We never got the merging balls. I held down the power button till it turned off, got the Repair your computer or Start Windows normally on the restart, selected start normally and this time got the merging balls and the desktop. I also got the yellow triangle on the network icon in the notification area.telling me taht I had no internet access. When I brought it back to my house and my DSL modem it again froze on the Starting Windows screen. I let it sit there for 20 minutes before I powered off. On the restart I again chose to start normally, but this time when the desktop displayed there was no yellow triangle, and I had internet access. I have no idea if this figures into the cable /... A:Connects with DSL Modem - Not with Cable Modem

It sounds like the Network Adapter in the HP is defective. The stall before the balls coalescing indicates a problem with hardware.

If all computers except the HP connect to the modem on the same cable (a 192 address indicates Ethernet connection) then you can assume the modem is OK and remove it from the equation.

If other computers connect to the modem using different cables then you might suspect the cable.

You could try uninstalling (removing from Device Manager) and reinstalling the Network Adapter. It should reinstall automatically on the next startup.

It might also be interesting to see what happens if you disable the device, to see if the startup stall disappears. You could disable it in Device Manager, but if you can disable it in the BIOS that would be an even better test.
