Screen yellowish tint - Yoga 720 13IKB Type 81C3 - Model 81C3005LPG - panel BOE06FA, NV133FHM-N61

Q: Screen yellowish tint - Yoga 720 13IKB Type 81C3 - Model 81C3005LPG - panel BOE06FA, NV133FHM-N61

I bought the Yoga 720 13IKB Type 81C3 - Model 81C3005LPG - last week to use it for photo edit and I noticied that the screen have strong yellowish tint.I tried to find a calibrated ICM (or ICC) color profile on the vga_drivers folder but could not find it.Also tried to use the windows 10 color calibration tool with no satisaftory results. I'm really disapointed and before start to tell the world on photo forums that this laptop is not suited to photo edit because of this super strong yellowish tint screen I decided to ask here if any members of the comunity or the Lenovo support team have any ICM color profile file that minimizes it.Note that this model have the BOE06FA panel and not the LG (like some USA models I believe). Thanks in advanceHugo Veríssimo

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I got my Yoga 900 yesterday and everything was fine until I had my friend's laptop placed beside mine. The white parts of the screen have a yellowish tint! I tried reinstalling drivers but no use.  Attached is a picture comparing my Surface 3 screen with Yoga 900 screen. Is this a known and common issue for Yoga 900 or is it specific to my machine? Anyone found a solution for this already?  Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Yoga 900 screen has Yellowish Tint

First, congratulations on getting a new Yoga 900 and welcome to the forum!

Some newer models in the Yoga series have a feature called "Paper Display Mode." When enabled this mode dims the display slightly and adjusts the shade of the white background to become warmer, i.e. yellowish. This feature is intended to simulate the characteristics of paper, making it easier on the eyes to read books, PDFs and similar material.

You can toggle Paper Display Mode by pressing Fn+Esc. An on-screen message temporarily confirms the status of this mode.

Try toggling PDM and see if that explains the yellowish tint.

Hi, I have recently purchased lenovo Yoga 720 (FHD screen). My problem is, that when my screen is displaying white colour, it has significant yellow tint to it. This is especially noticeable when put side by side next to my previous laptop Lenovo y500. I'm not sure what might be to blame, but I have already disabled the "paper display" function. Is there some software fix for this, do I need to buy one of those display calibration devices, or is my unit just faulty? Please tell me if someone is experiencing the same issue with their laptops.

I just bought a Yoga 720, 13.3 inch from Amazon (USA) - i5, 256 gb SSD, 8 gb RAM.  Its a nice laptop but upon turning it on, the fan noise scared me completely. Has anyone noticed this model HP laptop with 4K screen to have a warmer/yellowish color temperature starting from the left side and gradually becoming cooler/whiter as it goes right? This can be seen best when the background is white. I can see this yellow-to-white fade at any angle so I know this is a panel problem, and not because of my viewing angle. Out the box, the color temperature was a lot warmer than my TV and older laptop so I changed the color settings and still, however white the  left side gets, the right side gets way whiter, leaving the left side looking dull yellow. I don't have OCD but this is really putting a strain on my eyes because it has to keep adjusting to the different levels of white. I need to know if this is common so I can decide whether or not to go through with an exchange. Please help. Thanks.

A:Yellowish tint on left side of the screen

Not common and not acceptable. 4K panels are often made by knitting together two panels split vertically down the middle. You can't see the split unless there is an issue with one of the panels, or sometimes when the screen is dark you will see a vertical line of little white dots down the middle. In your case I would say you have a defective panel on the left.

A:My laptop screen has a yellowish orange tint on it. what happened?

Hi there,

Googling the specs of your computer, it looks like your laptop has an HDMI port. When you can, connect a spare working monitor to your computer via HDMI. Then see if the issue happens on the spare monitor.

I am thinking either your laptop LCD screen or integrated video card has gone bad. If the yellow-orange tint happens on the spare monitor, it's possible that the integrated video card on your laptop has gone bad. If not, it's possible that your laptop LCD screen has gone bad. I have a feeling the culprit is with your laptop LCD screen.

How long have you had this laptop may I ask? Have you had this laptop less than one year? If so, laptops have a one-year LIMITED WARRANTY. Assume you had this laptop less than one year, I recommend contacting the manufacturer and have them repair the laptop for your via warranty repair. The rep will either send a tech out to you or ship you a box, in which, you will have to ship your laptop to their repair center.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Have you tried parts lookup and then Lenovo Encompass store?  Don't post you serial number online.  If you input at the parts lookup site you  should be able to confirm the part number.  I input just generic 920-13ikb at parts lookup.

I'm not saying price is great but they do have it at Encompass store.

A:Extra mSATA on LENOVO 81C3 Lenovo YOGA 720-13IKB

Hi Helenvds1982,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking with the hardware manual (page26) and specs sheet shows that there is no extra slot for another mSATA on the model.

An option for replacing the storage with a larger (up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 x 4 NVMe m.2 2280) capacity can be a solution for needed storage space.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Good evening I am hoping that we as a community can get this issue solved. Lenovo must do a recall on the Yoga 730 for the very clear and apparent screen flicker problem that has affected 100s and possibly 1000s of people. This is an obvious design flaw that causes the hinge design to cause stress on the display cable attached to the motherboard. I have called Lenovo support but because the warranty is past (of course) they cannot do anything. If this was a random issue it would make sense. But since this is a very common issue that warrants some form of recall I must share my frustration as the Yoga 730-13IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81CT is othewise a fine computer. Join me in calling for an official response from Lenovo so that they will fix this problem that is clearly their fault. Thanks

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to start a new post on this site so please forgive me for hijacking this thread.  I have a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB Model Name 80VF that died about 4 months ago - battery quit charging.  It was three months past warranty...sigh.... I took it back to Best Buy and they told me my charging cable was fine and to get it fixed I'd have to send it off for 6 weeks and it would cost me a minimum of $500.00.  Since I was using this computer for my job (I'm self employed) this really wasn't an option so I went to the apple store and purchased a mackbook pro.  However, I would like to get this Lenovo fixed and use it as a backup.  My questions:1.  Should I replace the battery?2.  Lenovo seems to be out of stock of batteries:  Is there another source where I can buy on line?  I can't find anything.3.  Should I look at replacing the little circuit board that connects the power source to the battery?  I can't seem to find a P/N for it (I removed that back plate of the laptop). Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Support for this product from Lenovo has been underwhelming to say the least. Jeff BueNewark, Texas, USA

So just yesterday, my old eMachines started giving me a flashing yellowish tint. As everything is fine and dandy it would become a bit yellowish and then back, randomly.

The eMachines has a Gigabyte board with a GF 6100 IGP (obviously it wasn't there before ), and I'm using the eMachines monitor (CRT, 17").

Ok, so this issue is 1 of 2 things:
Monitor -> Bad (heck, it's been used for 7 years straight)
-or-
GFX -> Bad (it still works fine and powers through FEAR and FarCry....)

Now the interesting thing was that after re-connecting the VGA cable it stopped for about a day. And today it happened again. And so I'm strongly leaning towards the monitor being bad. (I can't use another cable, it comes directly out of the monitor itself.)

What do you think?

Hello, I have a pretty new Yoga 920-13IKB.  The USB Type A port just stopped working out of the blue yesterday.  I tried the normal stuff like deleting the usb entries in device manager, disabling fastboot and trying different devices, but nothing is recognized.  I have a USB C to USB A adapter and when I plug a USB A device into the laptop via the USB C port/adapter, that does work fine.  The USB A port does charge my phone though, so it's not totally dead. Anything else I can check on the software side?  It certainly seems like a hardware issue to me. As far as warranty support, I do have Microcenter nearby.  How does support with them work?  It looks like the USB A assembly is a separate board and is not part of the motherboard, so that should be easily replaceable.  Does Microcenter carry parts like that or do they still send it out for that? Thanks!

leaving the impression of stripe or shadow.

I research the problem and could be my monitor(CRT 17?...lol...yeah i still use it)

Hey there, after hours of tinkering and countless threads with no obvious answer I have managed to install Ubuntu 18.04 in UEFI mode. Touchpad and Active pen (v1) work. Onscreeen keyboard pops on touch input, keyboard lock in tablet mode and screen ratation work as well. Many of you asked these questions without answers. Thank you nameless developers who made it work.  It's not a definite guide. I want to show you how I did it. I will make it short, it will be chaotic enough. I will not cover the basics and assume you are starting from windows 10. 1) To create USB installer get Rufus. I have used 3.0 USB pendrive, Kingston Datatraveler 100 G3. During Rufus configuration set partition scheme to GPT. When you are ready click start. Window will pop, choose ISO.2) Get to the UEFI configuration in Windows 10. Under Configuration tab select SATA setting to AHCI (It will brick your windows 10, there are guides about it if you care). Go further to Secutity tab and select "Reset to Setup Mode". Go to Boot tab and set it to Legacy Support.3) F10, select whatever and your Live version or insaller should start.4) After you finish the installation you can paste in[ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo "EFI boot on HDD" || echo "Legacy boot on HDD"to check if your system is using UEFI.5) If the output was positive you can now go to the UEFI again and select "UEFI Only" boot option.systemctl reboot --firmware-setup Happy lurking,Rudenick

Received L470 two days ago and immediately noticed a few issues with the display. 1. Screen (full HD IPS, anti-glare) has got a yellowish tint, like the example in this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-13-E-and/Thinkpad-E570-has-warm-yellowish-tint-dis...I managed to somewhat correct the yellowish tint by using RedshiftGUI and setting color temperature to 7000K. It's still more yellowish than my other laptops when put side by side, but tolerable for now. I'd love to try out other solutions to this problem.  2. This one is my major complaint. When watching movies, or certain videos with dark setting, screen appears to be too dark for some details to be visible, even at max brightness.  To give you an idea, here is a photo I took using my handphone. (link to photo https://www.dropbox.com/sc/3fsqdu5ztoncwze/AABpthqcCgi7-sY9K_yUZ8ffa )I'll say I can see more details from my handphone than from the laptop screen itself.I've tried playing around in intel graphics setting but nothing seems to work.

Hi, so I've noticed that my screen has had an orange tint to it for the past week.  I have checked that night light is not on and tried to mess around in my color settings.  When I adjust the slider for how warm I want the colors to be when the night light is on, the orange tint never fully goes away, even on 0.  Sometimes when I unplug or plug in a usb accessory the screen will flicker for a second to the original color but then it reverts to this orange tint.  The tint occurs whether I have my charger plugged in or not.

I recently purchased an X1Y3. It had an issue with the touch screen often registering that it was touched in a specific spot when the laptop was moved or screen tilt changed even though the screen wasn't actually touched. These forums suggested it was a hardware problem. I ordered a replacement instead of repair because the notebook is so new. I haven't tested the replacement much yet but one thing I've already noticed is the screen is signifanctly yellower than the "older" one when both are side by side. It may be that the "older" one is too blue, so I'd need a way to test both out somehow. But I'm almost certain it's that the "newer" one is yellowish rather than the other being too blue. Any fixes? Windows Night Light is off in both. Both are set to the same color temperature and profile in Lenovo Vantage.

You could try the built-in color calibration tool available in Win 7 and 10. Open a Run dialog by typing Winkey + R, then type "dccw" in the box and hit the enter key. This will guide you through adjusting color temp and gamma to match your preference.

I'm experiencing a very annoying blinking/flickering of the built-in 4K display.Have a look at this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdd4UICu_T4On the movie it isn't nearly as bad as in reality. The flickering is only visible with a blue, dark gray or purple color background. After disconnecting the screen and restarting the computer the blinking started. It looks like a problem with the refresh rate. Unfortunately, the third unit's display panel is another BOE06FA that I finally noticed little flickers or flashes (very very few occasion). Oh, I am surprised to discover that this unit had already updated to the latest Windows version and the most recent BIOS firmware v2.04 with SanDisk A400 SD9N9U-256-1001 (NVME SSD). It does not encounterd any huge issue or concern  (i.e., black-bar glitch on the top of the display), yet. I strongly believe all of this laptop model from my local BestBuy's stores have the third party Chinese manufactured display; not LG (sad). The fan noise is acceptable and does turn-on during activites, and I used to listen to my old laptops with louder noise. One tiny issue is the trackpad's clicker is a bit louder on the left click. I purchased it at the price of $699.99 USD with 18 months finance through BestBuy's.

I purchased my laptop July 2018.  As of this week I have had significant screen flickering issues where the screen flickers between black lines and completely black.  At times, the computer is useable without any flickering.  All Windows updates and drivers are up to date.
