Vista Word Mass Mailing Problem

Q: Vista Word Mass Mailing Problem

I want to do a mass mailing using the Word application of Vista. I have created the Address Database - correctly, so far as I can tell - at least it works to put the salutation on the letters. In addressing the envelopes I place the cursor where I want the Address Block to appear but in the execution of the address only the 1st line (the name) of a 3-line address appears there. The street and number and the town appear near the left edge of the envelope and the ZIP code appears near the right edge.

Thanks for your thoughs.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've edited out the graphic details.
It looks like your e-mail address has been harvested from a computer that is infected and there's really not much you can do about that short of changing your e-mail address.
We could do a couple of scans just to be sure there's nothing else lurking.

Download the trial version of Ewido Anti-spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop. When the trial period expires it becomes freeware with reduced functions but still worth keeping.

Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine"
Under "Reports"
Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close Ewido Anti-spyware, Do NOT run a scan yet. We will do that later in safe mode.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode now. You can do this by restarting your computer ... Read more

I believe I have a Mass Mailing virus/trojan. My computer, shorlty after startup, starts "trying" to mail out hundreds of e-mails. The subject line on the mass e-mails started with "Wednesday" then the next night it was "Thursday" tonight they were different headings. Norton overloads while trying to scan these outgoing e-mails and my server rejects them. I have discovered that if I let it run it course they will "eventually" stop and my computer seems to run okay after I get them cleaned out.

I am running windows XP. Using Norton antivirus and Ad-Awware as well as Spybot. Have run all of those and nothing is being picked up. I have attatched a hi-jack this log. Hope someone can help! thanks

The night before last as I turned the computer off I noticed about 10 Symantec Client Security Email Proxy messages that were all different. The messages all said that the email has been blocked for various reasons. Most of the messages appear to be randomly addressed.

The next day I had no problem but yesterday I was inundated with such messages at the rate of about 10 a minute. I assumed I had picked up a mass mailing worm so I ran 3 full anti-virus scans (Symantec, McAfee Command Line and Kaspersky online) and multiple Spyware scans. Nothing was found.

I updated my Symantec Client Security to Symantec Endpoint Protection to no avail.

I then looked on Google and discovered some people complaining of similar problems but this was years ago.

Finally I gave up and decided to restore a Norton image from over a month ago.

Now this is the strange bit. About 10 minutes after rebooting the machine into the restored image the Email Proxy messages started again!

I don't know if this is relevant but as I joined this forum my Email address with the domain name blueyonder.co.uk was rejected because of a spam problem. I had to use a dodgit.com address to join.

Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.

I've recently had broadband installed (Telewest Blueyonder UK)

Every time I switch on the PC and activate my broadband connection by PC is attacked by the virus "[email protected]" (its a mass mailing prog).

My Norton AntiVirus program blocks it so it dosen't become active on the PC.

Is there any reason why my PC should be targeted in this way or is it usual?
(if it's usual I can simply set Norton AntiVirus to block this in the background without telling me)

Could there be something on my PC (trojan or the like) which is inviting an attack by this virus.

I'm using Outpost Pro as my firewall.

Any advice would be appreciated

Best Regards

Hello friends!

We have recently opened a company in which we will require to send in same emails of hundreds of out clients. What basically I need is a software in which I can just add in the names or email address of my clients and the software should automatically check weather the same email address is already present in the database. If present, it shouldn't add it again. Thereafter, when ever I need to send the mails, it should present me with the complete list of all email addresses which I just need to copy and paste to the address bar in Outlook Express. If a filtering option is available, it would be even better.

Now, is there any such software available. I am sure there are as all these big companies do such kind of work. Please guide me as to how can this be achieved.

This wont be used for spamming.

Thank you.

A:Bulk(Mass) Mailing System???

I use GroupMail for my mass e-mailing needs: http://www.group-mail.com/

They have a free version, and the only restriction is that you can only send up to 100 e-mails at one time, but it does allow you to set filters, so you can send 1-100; 101-200; 201-300 etc

The personal edition costs $99 and unlocks that silly restriction.

HelloI noticed that my internet connection had got very slow recently, and after becoming suspicious I initially ran a malwarebytes scan which reported that a rootkit c:\windows\system32\palne.sys was found. Even though I had selected the option in malwarebytes to remove it, it was reported again the next time I ran a scan. Then I ran wireshark and there was a huge amount of smtp traffic with some very strange content (lots of backslashed characters) to all sorts of remote mail servers. Running "netstat -a" showed dozens of UDP ports open..by this point I was sure I had a spam botnet type of infection. I've followed as much of the preparation steps before posting but could not get much of a GMER scan, it hung the PC completely both times I tried to run it. Running it in safe mode got slightly further, when it reported the following during it's inital scan that it did as soon as I ran the tool (i.e. I didn't click on the scan button):---- Devices - GMER 1.0.15 ----Device \FileSystem\Ntfs \Ntfs 86F43588AttachedDevice \FileSystem\fastfat \Fat fltmgr.sys (Microsoft Filesystem Filter Manager/Microsoft Corporation)---- Services - GMER 1.0.15 ----Service (*** hidden *** ) [BOOT] palne <-- ROOTKIT !!!---- EOF - GMER 1.0.15 ---- I right clicked over the palne entry in the service tab of gmer and managed to disabl... Does anyone know how to create labels in MS Word. I would need to instantly email or fax it but have know clue how to create the labels in such a way that it can be easly emailed or fax from my pc. I would appreciate it if anyone out there can help me cause I really need to do this asap.

Thanks to all.

A:MS Word Mailing Labels

Are you using some special labeling paper? I'm assuming it's a sticky label on one side. There should be instructions on how to do the File>>Page Setup... Then choose your appropriate type of paper. For the labels it should create a large table where you can input the many different addresses.

I tried sending an e-mail in Microsoft word with the e-mail icon on the quick toolbar, couldn't send it and couldn't close Word. I got this message:
"This error can occur if you try to send a Word document by using the Email ( Microsoft Office Button | Send command) command. If Word hangs, or you closed Word and a new message dialog does not appear, it is possible that Outlook did not receive the request to start a new message.
To avoid this issue, restart Word and attempt to send the attachment again, but wait for Outlook to respond prior to attempting another action.
You cannot close Microsoft Office Word until the Send Mail Command is finished. Switch to the New Message first, and either send or close the message". I had to manully close down my computer, then restart it. I can use all my programs but everything is different, and Outlook background is grayed out.
Can you tell me how I can correct this problem?

Hi everybody,
In Word 2000 there is an e-mail-button. How is that supposed to work? When I click it, I get the email address lines and so on at the tip of the screen. When I click the send button, Word (or some other program) immediately tries to send the mail, and complains, since there is no Internet connection open. If I click the send button once again (being stubborn), it starts to dial my default dial-up connection, but without the password, although Outlook Express and Internet Explorer always remember the password.
Can I get Word to put the mail in the outbox of Outlook Express instead of trying to send it immediately. Or, can I get it to remember the password, if it has to send it immediately.

When I looked in the Word help, it seemed more normal to combine word with outlook 200 than with Outlook Express. Does it make sense at all to try to use Word and Outlook Express together? Maybe it is better to simply write the e-mail message in word 2000 and then cut and paste it into Outlook Express?

I searched a little bit, I didn't see it:

How do you shut off a Word document before sending it so the receiver of the document cannot back-track and see any changes you made to the document before sending it ?

I hope that made sense, but I read something about a year ago that said if you e-mailed someone a Word Document, that they may be able to pull that document into their system, and simply use the 'back' key to show any changes you made to the document before you sent them the version you saved as the final one.

Am I making sense ?

There is a way to shut this off so they cannot do that, I just don't recall how.

I am running MS Word 2010. Here is my problem.

Letís say I type a letter and have the personís name and address in the letter. On the Word menu bar I select labels. For some reason when the label prints, it is center adjusted and not adjusted to the left like a normal mailing label would be.

Any thoughts on how to fix this.

Hi there

It's been quite a while since I asked for help. I can easily create mailing labels using Mail Merge. The data source resides in Excel. I automated the mail merge process by recording a macro in MS Word 2000. When I ran the macro it did exactly what I keyed in. I looked at the macro, which defaulted to Macro1, by going to Tools-Macro-Macros. The macro was there. I saved the Word file as Labels.doc in my C drive. I also saved the other file that had the fields in one sheet. You know the one that I mean.

Here is the problem. I e-mailed the 2 MS Word files and the Excel file to my co-worker. My coworker saved the 3 files into his C drive also. When he tried to run the macro, it did not work. As a matter of fact, when I went to Tools-Macro-Macros to see what went wrong, my Macro1 was not there at all. When I e-mail an Excel workbook with macros to anyone, the macros are attached to the workbook but this is not the case with macros recorded in MS word. How can I get around this??

I have attempted to create mailing labels using Word 2003. I used a prior Word version several years ago and was able to save the labels as a file--ready to print, not requiring database. Any ideas how to do this with Word 2003?

Were you doing a mail merge? You can save the lables as a template as long as your data source for the mail merge is consistent.

I have 4 GB of memory with Vista 64, but it's using over 30% without their even being any applications running. This is pretty shocking to me. How much memory should vista system processes alone be consuming? 1.5 gigabytes seems very excessive. Is there something I can do to cut the fat and stop vista from devouring my memory. I mainly use this PC for gaming and I have no idea why vista is eating up so much.

30% of 4096MB is 1228.8MB.

That is about right for a fresh boot of Vista x64. I got similar figures with Vista Ultimate x64.

I'm running Windows 7 BETA x64 now, so I can't validate those numbers....

Has anyone made a macro to do a mass unprotect of Word 2007 documents. We have installed Word 2007 and used Word 2003. We have a new server. The templates from the old server have been moved to the new server. All documents based on the path of the old server take a long time to open and we have to hit esc to get them on the screen. Each document is based on various templates from Word 2003. We really need a macro to change the path in the document (template path to old server to reflect new server path) and we also need to have a macro that will make sure all documents have been made into an unprotected mode so they will change and save the new name in the document. Anyone have such an animal.

My fiance and I are trying to print some address labels for our wedding invitations but we are unsure of what to do. We can type them up in Word, Excel or whatever and put them into a label type format so we can print them up.

What's confusing to us is that we can't figure out how to make the labels print different address on each label.

Fortunately for me I have all of my addresses already stored in my Windows Mail. I could just copy and paste them into whatever someone can recommend to me.

I'm very new to Office and Office 2007. We can import or type them up, but we need we just need to know how to start and what to do?

Any ideas?

Hi Imola,

There is a good feature in Word called (Mail Merge) you can easily have all your contats stored in an excel file or outlook contacts (not sure about windows mail but you can export them to excel if it doesn't work)

In word 07, click the (Mailing) tab, choose (Lables) and choose the type of your lables,(select recipients), (insert Merge fields) Edit as necesart and print. It should be an easy step by step procedure
