Firefox closes when trying to view Divx

Q: Firefox closes when trying to view Divx

Hi, my name is Kyle.

I'm having trouble with Firefox, and despite trying multiple times, I can't seem to fix this problem myself.

Whenever I try to watch streaming movies or videos, before the video even loads at all, firefox gets an error that says "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and the divx player multiple times, along with the flash program. I don't know what to do!

Someone please help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to TSF!!

Hi,

Sorry for taking so long to get to your post. First I am wondering what version of FF you are using. Next I would like you to go to Tools then click on Error Console. Take a look in there and see if it gives you any indication as to what errors you are getting.

Cheers!

Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

A:Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

I am running Windows 7 Firefox 17.0.1. There is an add-on called "Divx Plus Web Player HTML5 <video> 2.1.2.145" that is suspicious. Don't know how it got there and, while I can disable it, there's no way to remove it.
Thanks.

A:Firefox DIVX addon

Is it in Add/Remove Programs? Divx is a legit media player. Maybe you needed it to view a particular video.

howdy folks.
been watching a lot of movies/tv shows on alluc.org (among other sites) recently. Most of these videos are some kind of divx format.. and require you to download a little divx player codec or something.

a) it takes a looong time to buffer the stream for me to watch the actual vid. and
b) its been crashing to the desktop a LOT.

can anyone who knows a bit about this stuff give me some advice for better streaming video performance?

:edit:
I should also note that I'm running a pc but the Mac at work seems to do this a lot too.
do you think internet explorer would be a sturdier browser?

Hey guys.

First of all let me apologize for putting this in the XP forum. I'm tired and frustrated after trying all day to fix this problem so I'm desperate now and figured I'd get a quicker reply here. Also not sure if it's exclusively a problem with my connection/browsers.

Okay so my problem is that out of the blue google chrome stopped viewing pages. I get "Error 102" when I try to view a page. The annoying thing is it appears that Chrome isn't even attempting to load anything it just instantly displays this error. It was working literally 5 minutes before this error first appeared. I was using Firefox at the same time (I have different passwords saved for different sites on different browsers) so I have no idea if viewing something on FF could of caused this.

What I've tried so far:

- Making sure I have "automatically detect settings" enabled in every browser while making sure "use a proxy" is disabled.

- Disabling all anti virus/firewall software and making sure Chrome is a trusted application.

- Uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it

- Making sure nothing appears to be blocked router wise

- Checking and resetting hosts file

- Releasing and renewing IP

- Make sure SSL and T-something is enabled in browser settings

- Currently running a Malware scan with MalwareBytes but surely any malware would simply change my browsers proxy settings which I've already checked.

A lot of these on line scanners use IE only, so I would not worry I went there with both Firefox and Internet Explorer 7.0 and IE went four time faster thru the pages, which is just to opposite that I have found with the browsers.

Hi. I have been using Divx for the past 3-4 years to convert .avi files to Divx to be played on my Phillips DVD player (which plays Divx files).

For the past couple of months I've been having problems with the DivX Player that burns the files onto dvds - it just doesn't work. I can load the files like normal, it shows me that it's transferring, and after anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes, it tells me transfer has been completed, when in actuality, nothing has been done.

I have contacted Divx about this, and have received no suitable solution to this problem. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Divx+, as well as older version of Divx, but all to no avail.

One of the features I liked about Divx was the ability to fit multiple files onto one dvd (I could fit anywhere between 4-6 movies). And, of course, the fact that we could view these films on our regular TV, via our Divx compatible DVD player.

I don't know if you're aware of this problem. If you are, do you have any recommendations as to how to deal with it?

If not, could you recommed another converter/burner that will allow me to burn multiple files onto a dvd to be played on my dvd player?

Thank you.

I have a .Divx file that plays fine on VLC player, but it wont play on my DivX player unlike my other divx files... I have downloaded many "DivX to DVD Converters" (many of which are really just AVI converters and not actually convert DIVX themselves) however I have tried Xilisoft Divx-to-DVD converter / WinAVI 8.0 / AVI DivX MPEG to DVD Converter & Burner Pro..
to no avail...

is there a program that actually does what it says on the tin>? all these 'DivX converters' should be called AVI converters as thats the only file they convert...Iam aware that some AVIs are encoded using DIVX but they shouldnt be called 'DIVX converter' if all it converts is AVI files...

What do I do now,?

I also have a movie with subs (SRT file) and burn em both to disc and my player says no subtitles even though it asks me if i would like to have them on at beggining?

EDIT: IT ALSO APPEARS THAT "IMTOO" AND "XILLISOFT" ARE THE SAME COMPANY WITH SAME PROGRAMS?????????

it would appear that a DivX to DVD Converter would do just that, take an AVI and convert it DVD compliant files that can be burned and played on a stand alone player. Maybe you should be searching for a Divx to Divx Converter.

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

A:[SOLVED] Firefox randomly closes

Hi,

The first thing that I need to know is if this is a company computer, or personal computer. This will direct our line of thinking. If it is a company computer then you need to get in touch with your IT department and ask them if they have any ideas, or if they have been doing any upgrading.

If this is your personal computer, you will want to look at what programs are running when it closes. You will also want to see if there is an excessive load on the computer. The amount of time that you leave FF open can sometimes cause closing as the amount of resources that it is using just get too high.

These are all things to think of but get back to us and we can give you some ideas.

Cheers!

In divx converter I drag & drop vob file, but he only show me stereo sound and no titles, but I know that dvd have at least 10 titles in diferent languages and 3 5.1 sounds on diferent languages. I read that divx converter will show this kind of info only if they are in vob file and integrate them in divx movie (I want divx whith engl. 5.1 sound and croatian titles from dvd), which they obviously aren't. So what to do?

Hi Support Guys,

I just got this 2nd hand computer from my cousin a few days ago and I realized that FireFox auto-closes on certain sites, even with IE.
Other than that, msconfig will also auto close almost instantly after it's opened.

When I try to check out my system properties (My Computer > Properties), the System Properties window will just close, exactly like what happened when I try to open msconfig.
What's wrong with it? Some kind of virus?

Here is my HiJackThis log for your reference (please help me if you spot anything else which is wrong in the log, thanks!)

Oh no!
I tried running HiJackThis and even it auto closes!
Please help me, I'm scared.

A:FireFox/IE, MsConfig & HIJACKTHIS auto closes!

kazekage... scared... D: lol

Try "sfc /scannow" from the RUN box of the Start Menu. Could be a virus, malware, or system instability due to (un)install.

If you've got a second hand PC, it would be best to simply start from scratch and reinstall everything - it would eliminate possible unforeseen problems in the future.

Okay, for some reason when I try to start Firefox, I get the message:

"firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

behind it is the Mozilla Crash Reporter:

"Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts."

There is an option to restart firefox, but the same messages come up. I believe it might have had something to do with a virus I had, but Malwarebytes removed several trojans (Vundo I believe was one of them) and installed IE8. So far I've

- restarted the computer
- completely uninstalled and reinstalled firefox
- ran ccleaner & combofix
- ran malwarebytes
- manually uninstalled firefox, renamed the user profile folder in %APPDATA%

i cannot restore to an earlier date because of the virus scans and deleting virus files that were housed within restore data. Has anyone else encountered this issue or know a possible solution?

A:Solved: Firefox Closes Immediately After Opening

nevermind. uninstalled IE8 and went back to IE7. Firefox works now.... hmmm....

Hi,

I noticed lately that sometimes when I do a google search in Firefox and click on a link I'll be brought to some other ad/search site. When I open Microsoft Security Essentials to run a scan, it closes immediately. I ran a complete scan with Malware Bytes that did not find anything malicious, both in normal boot mode and safe mode. I booted into safe mode and ran a full scan with MSE and there were no threats found.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

A:Redirected searches (Firefox). MSE opens then closes immediately.

This started happening after a visit to PacketNews.com the night before. I've noticed !update.exe, fast.exe, and scanregw.exe processes running, I have not seen these processes running before. When system runs slow I'm at 99% idle. Panda scan would not finish because the window would close randomly, I tried multiple times.

Running on Windows 8 I have a problem where a blank Firefox (23.0.1) browser repeatedly opens and the closes about 10 seconds later, this happens roughly every minute.

I ran a Superanti Spyware Scan earlier today and discovered a Trojan and deleted it, from the log file:

Trojan.Agent/Gen-Bancos
    C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\COMMON FILES\SYSOBJECT\JS3260.DLL

I can't recall whether the firefox browser opening and closing happened before or after running this scan and subsequent action taken by Superanti Spyware but the problem has only appeared today.  Further scans using Avast, Superanti Spyware and Malwarebytes are clean, beyond tracking cookies but the issue continues.  I have used Uninstall Programs to remove Firefox, however even with Firefox uninstalled the browser window keeps reappearing.  I have re-installed Firefox after uninstalling.

Using Task Manager and its Details tab a new entry appears when this browser appears, and disappears when it closes, the file is a .exe file called update.exe located in Program Files(x86)/Common Files/sysobject, it bares the Firefox logo but doesn't disappear after Firefox has been uninstalled.  Scanning this file with the 3 malware detectors listed above gives no result.

When this file is sent to the recycle bin an error message pops up at the time when the next browser opening event should occur, http://s9.postimg.org/i8k9zevov/errormessgae.png  is a screen... Read more

i need help

i reformatted my pc last thanksgiving and i downloaded Firefox version 2. before i reformatted my pc i was able to access yahoo mail in firefox. but when i installed the new one it keeps getting close.

this is what i do..i sign in at yahoo mail and then i would be redirected to the inbox/sent/draft etc..when i try to open a message and scroll it down to read the rest of it, firefox will suddenly shut down.

at first i thought something's wrong with yahoo but when i tried it in IE, it worked and i never had a problem with it.

Can someone help me with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

A:firefox closes when i open a message in yahoo mail

I have Fx 2.0 installed and my Yahoo mail is OK. This shows it can work OK but maybe isn't of help to yourself.

As with most Fx faults, it's always worth seeing if it's Profile related. Does Yahoo work if you run Firefox in Firefox Safe Mode?

Another thing you could try is deleting any Yahoo cookies and logging in again. I have read of this causing Yahoo mail problems sometimes.

Ok, for the past two updates, I've been having a fairly annoying problem with FireFox. It has been happening more frequently recently - I'd say about 3-4 times a day.

Randomly, I'll be clicking a link and it seems like it hangs. I can click it again and nothing will happen. When I close it and try to open it again, it says a process of Firefox is already running. Not only that, but the process running is taking up about 70-80% of my resources.

Any word on what may be causing this?

-sachit
