Live Messenger vs. Messaging vs. Skype

Q: Live Messenger vs. Messaging vs. Skype

It seems like I have the option of using Live Messenger (from the desktop), Messaging (as a Start App) or Skype (as a desktop or Start App).

But there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency across each.

It appears to me that -

Either flavor of Skype gives me access to Microsoft and Skype accounts. But not Facebook accounts.Either flavor of Messenger gives me Microsoft and Facebook accounts. But not Skype accounts.Only Desktop Messenger gives me access to Microsoft Messenger groups. Neither flavor of Skype nor Messaging (as a Start App) do so.

Am I correct. Or are there ways to integrate Facebook accounts into Skype and Skype accounts into Messenger?

And when Microsoft Live Messenger goes away what happens to Microsoft Messenger Groups?

And while I am at it, where does Google chat fit in?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Problem of video chat with Yahoo messenger - Windows Live messenger or skype

Hello sweeta, as i read your post, the solution that comes to mind is for you to confirm your settings in your Audio Manager. If you right click your Audio Manager which is usually located in the Taskbar, you should be able isolate and fix this issue . Hope i helped .

I've recently had problems with running skype and windows live messenger. I can start both programs but once I log in I get the following warning 'A problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program'. People see me come online on msn but I immediatly get this warning. After this worning I used to have an error aswell but now I've disabled WER. Sometimes I do get on skype but never on msn. I've tried to search for solutions for this problem but it never works so this is my last chance or I'll have to reinstall windows vista home basic x64 or buy windows xp. It lets me download these programs but when it gets to the installing part something pops up saying there is another installtion in progress but my computer shows no sign of something else installing. I have tryed seeing if there are any default programs stoping my computer from installing these programs and i see nothing wrong. I have also tryed saving skype and windows live messenger to my desktop and the icon shows up but when I go to run the them they still will not go through. Hi there,

Up until yesterday my Skype, Frostwire and Windows Live Messenger have all functioned perfectly fine. I initially noticed the problem when trying to connect to messenger, which was proved impossible. When running a diagnostic I was told to check my browser's ability to connect to the internet. This is fine. I have also checked that my firewall has all of these programmes as exceptions, which it does. I attempted a basic reinstallation of Skype and Messenger. This did not change anything with Skype which still does not have the ability to reconnect and when I try to reinstall Messenger I am told this can't be done due to an 'unknown error' occuring.

Any help what so ever would be massively appreciated.

Thank you.

Skype / Messenger Live video call voice quality (fixed)

Hi All,

I am having a few problems with webcam calls with my folks.

I have installed the latest versions of Skype and Windows Live Messenger on both machines but when using either one for webcam video calls their audio and video coming to me is absolutely fine and so is my video to them however my audio to them is delayed, juddery, and robotic/gravelly (as if i have a sore throat). It is the same in both programs.

Zone Alarm on both machines is configured to allow these programs to run as they wish but still the problem persists.

We both have broadband at speeds usually no lower than 3mb.

Any help apreciated.

A:Skype / Messenger Live video call voice quality

skype is heavily dependant on bandwidth. I use it here in Iraq and with phone calls can be garbled if bandwidth is insufficient. However, it would seem in your case, the problem may be firewall related. I would ensure that all your ports are open for skype. I don't recommend zonealarm as it interferes with many programs.

This is a slightly annoying problem. I've disabled Windows Live Messenger from starting up, both through Messenger's options and through MSCONFIG. The program doesn't start when Windows starts. But when I log on to Windows Live Mail through a web browser, Messenger starts up on it's own. I cannot figure out a way to disable this. I've looked through Live Mail options and can't find anything to denote starting up the program. I find the assocation of windows live mail and messenger very annoying. In WL Mail, I use both my hotmail and gmail accounts. I prefer to save my passwords so I don't have to enter them every time I open my mail. However, if I get WL Mail to rememberr my passwords, my hotmail account automatically pops up first when I want to sign into WL Messenger, even though I never use hotmail in messenger (just the gmail sign-in). So now, I always have to change the sign-in information on messenger because somehow it prefers my hotmail account.
Simply clickinig 'forget me' in WL Messenger is not the solution since this also makes WL Mail forget my hotmail password, so I have to enter this one very time I open my mail.

So somehow I would like to dissociate the two, to have WL Mail to remember my passwords, but WL Messenger to forget the hotmail account. Does anyone know if there's any way to do so? I hate these automatic associations that you don't have any control over!

Hello, I'm new here.

I have recently changed my windows live id and my contacts all appear offline.
I have followed the instructions when i changed my id which told me to sign out and wait.
It says it will take 48 hours to fix the contacts offline. But after 3 days only 2 contacts that are online and all others are offline although i know they are actually online. Now, after 2 weeks only 3 contacts that i can see online but the rest are all offline.

Then, i discovered weird stuffs happening.

1) I can see my contact's posts on my messenger live 2009 but in my contact list i can only see their email and nothing else and they dint came online.

2) I tried chatting with 1 of my working contacts and he replied to me that he can see our conversation windows but he can't find my new id on his contact list only my old id that appears offline.

3) I tried deleting my contacts and adding them back, 1 of my contact which appears offline on my contact list, e-mailed me saying that he had added my new id but weird enough i din't receive any invitations. So, i deleted his id on my messenger and added him back AGAIN and guess what, he din't receive any invitations too. The next day a conversation window poped up and its him but theres a bar stating that "This contact is not on your contact list. Add the contact to your contact list" sort of.

Sorry for my not-so-good english.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

A:MSN Messenger, Skype, uTorrent cause Internet Stalls

We don't help with P2P/uTorrent here, so please put that aside.

What is a "full reset" of the router? A reset to factory default settings?

What kind of hybrid is a "Linksys D-Link router"? They have a joint venture going now?

Is you connection problem with ethernet, wireless or both? Any other computer used with the router? If so, are there similar problems?

Do you get the same type problem with a connection directly to the modem?

Make sure you have the latest firmware for the router; then reset it to factory default settings and reconfigure.

This is my problem:

I would like to feed audio from a radio to the internet. The radio is connected to my soundcard's Line In via a 3,5mm male-male cable.

Also connected to my soundcard is a microphone that I primarily use for Skype. It is connected to the Mic In.

To feed the audio I use software where I can select what sound source I should use. However, even though I select Line In here, it still feeds the sound the microphone picks up in the room.

To solve this, I go into the Windows Sound Control Panel - Recording options. Here I change the default from Microphone to Line in. Now the audio from the radio go to the internet, but I cannot use my microphone with Skype.

Primarily I use the Bose Companion 5 as speakers and the sound card is included in the motherboard.

Is it possible to set my system up so that the radio feeds to the internet, and so that I at the same time privately can use my microphone for Skype?

Appreciate any help with this!

Okay, I'm having some.. odd.. issues, and I can't quite place what It would be. I haven't done anything different than my usual behaivor.

Here goes. Yesterday, my Windows Live Messenger was working, until a required update came out. It says that It failed to update everything. I knew my computer had this problem before, because it would not work with Skype, when I try skype, it says that I am not connected to the server. Pokerstars will connect, I click "Network status", all connections say "Very good" (100%), but after 5 minutes it says it cant connect as well.

Firefox just comes up with the default "Unable to connect"

I can connect to some MMORPG's, such as WOW, but as soon as a new update comes out, I can't update it. Luckily my Internet explorer still works.

Anyway, about the only thing that I can think changed this is my recent move to Korea. Before I got here I had no problems.

Also, I'm connecting through a Wireless network, which I know the ports are set right, because my buddy can use Skype.

Anyway, Any knowledge would be helpful.

Ok, so i have windows xp and internet explorer 7. And for several months i have been trying to download msn messenger live using this link http://get.live.com/messenger/overview So i go on with the download, and uncheck all of those boxes. Everything works fine until it comes to the windows live installer. It shows a list of the things it is installing : messenger and sign-in assistant. The messenger is first on the list and it gets to 99% downloaded and stops......i waited overnight and still it was on 99%. Does anyone have any clue what is wrong and how i can fix it? Please Help.
