HP support assistant - update download installation FAILED

Q: HP support assistant - update download installation FAILED

Three features of HP support assistant -- downloading updates, gathering info, analyzing system -- now also failing.I have tried to reload the new version from the www.hp.com/go/hpsupportassistant but it does not work.I cannot find the software to uninstall this program to start over from scratch. HP has created a problem for its users when there were none. My warranty is no longer in effect so it seems crazy that I might have to pay HP to fix a problem that was caused by them. Has anyone found a way to fix this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HP Support Assistant showed a number of new driver updates for my zBook G2- I was able to update and install most of them, but a few always show "Installation Failed" at the end. Downloading appears to be working, then it shows "Installing...", and after a minute or two a popup shows "Installation Failed!". No explanation or indication of why it failed. The failing updates are: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI SP73263HP Bios Config Utility (BCU) SP74840HP Universal Camera Driver 2014 SP70322 Note that I have recently installed Bitdefender Total Security 2016 (Anti-virus & Firewall), and I suspect it may be at fault, simply because I have never experienced failed updates through HP Support Assistant before. I have switched off as much of Bitdefender as I can, and tried the updates, but they still fail. Unfortunately there is no way to disable Bitdefender entirely, without totally uninstalling it. Is there a known issue with Bitdefender and HP Support Assistant? Or is there something else to try, or another way to troubleshoot this problem? Mahaloz-joel.

A:HP Support Assistant: "Update installation failed!"

@joel_MaunaKea? There are few times that I give flat out advice, this is one of the exceptions: Never, ever let the HP Support Assistant update your BIOS. Set HPSA settings to notify > reopen the program > check for Updates >take  note of the suggested BIOS action >"Ignore" / Hide the BIOS entry from the list. If you are not having system issues, consider that you may NOT need nor want the BIOS to be updated. At the least, make sure you have a full set of backups, recovery media, and access to your critical files BEFORE you update the BIOS.  Even doing everything right does not guarentee you won't have problems. Updates ? Hi, Recently I have not been able to download anything from the Internet. I have searched for solutions but none work, it started when I couldn't open the HP support assistant. I tried installing it again but it wouldn't even show the bar or any signs of installation, this is probably because I reset my Internet options, but I'm not sure. A few days ago I would try to install driver updates on HPSA but it fails at installation. I really need help because I am a gamer and often install things like mods from the Internet and without the assistant or the ability to download updates, I can't keep my computer up-to-date! Any help would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks in advance, SheepDave!

@sapphire4227, welcome back to the forum. If you have not done so, I suggest deleting the messages and updates.  This will allow HPSA to retreive them again and possibly install them.  I believe that I may have provided this information to you in a prior post, but here is a way to check to see if a patch that was released for it was installed: You can determine if the aforementioned SysID patch has been applied to the system by making sure that productconfig.exe is => 8.3.2.1.  The file can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework\Resources\productconfig.exe

@troubleshoot411?, welcome to the forum. I agree with using Revo.  It is my go to app for malware.  When you used Revo, did you use the Advanced option?  This will not only remove the program from the HDD, but it removes any remnants from the BIOS.  If not, this could be the problem.  I suggest trying the Advanced option to remove HPSA and shut down the computer.  Then, boot and reinstall HPSA from here. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

After an HP support assistant initiated update the computer will not boot.  I get a blue screen (not BSOD) that says :  "Boot device not found .  Please install an operating system on your hard disk.   Hard Disk - (3F0)"   I tried booting from a CD and running BootRec /FixMBR, BootRec /FixBoot, and BootRec /rebuildBCD (separate operations of course) but it did nothing.   I found that if I boot into the bios manu and choose "Load defaults and exit" the unit will boot normally, that one time.  The next time I get the same error screen.  Thinking it may be a setup retention issue I changed the CR2032 coin battery but it did not help. To summerize,  this happened after an update; no changes were made to the bios/UEFI settings, secure boot is enabled and  the first boot device is "boot manager". Any help would be appreciated.

HP Support Assistant is giving me a !! notice for SP77117 - an Intel graphics update.  HPSA fails to install, when I tell it to install the update. I tried manually downloading the SP, even though the page I got it from does not list Windows 10 as a compatible OS (it listed Windows 7 through 8.1).  I downloaded and tried to install it anyway, and the installer quits, saying my computer doesn't meet minimum requirements. I downloaded the latest versions of the nVidia and Intel graphics drivers, and installed them successfully, but HPSA still insists that I need SP77117. How do I convince HPSA that I can't use that SP?

Hi, HP Support Assistant has suggested three updates for my system. When trying to download them using the Assistant, all installations failed (a phenomenon that was described by some other posters in this forum). So I looked for each of the three updates directly in the HP site, after finding my computer and operating system there (HP notebook 15-ay011nr, windows 10 64-bit).I could find two of the updates, but not the third, which is called:  "Intel WLAN software for Micorsoft Windows", with Softpaq number SP76133, version 18.40.0.9Pp2 if it's relevant. When I looked for this softpaq number in the site, I found it, but saw that it is only for windows 7 and 8. Why does the HP support assistant suggest this as an update for my win 10 system?Am I supposed to download it?If not, is there a way to stop the support assistant from thinking that I should install it? Thanks!  Eitan

Last week (10.02.2017) HP Support Assistant offered a new update entitled "AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver_KB" as Softpaq Number SP78743, Version 21.19.137.514Bp3, Size 410.13MB.  It fails to install with no message or indication of why. I've search for any reference to SP78743 (Google & HP website) and found nothing.  I've also serch the AMD website for reference to this driver and also found nothing. Does anyone know anything about this or should I just trash it from HP Support Assistant?

A:Spurious update offered by HP Support Assistant

If it will not install it is likely your video driver was already updated to the same version by Windows Update. The driver version number corresponds to a driver issued by AMD in December.

I really need help here. I had this computer for around 6 months and everything worked fine. But whenever HPSA would tell me to install an important update, it would take around 3 tries to get rid of the red exlamination mark. I would , however, always be able to install them at the end. Recently HPSA asked me to install a BIOS update. I'm really bad at computers, so I just went for it. When I finished with the restart, it STILL told me I need to update, so I tried again. When the second try also failed (I think, I don't know how to check BIOS version, but it still told me to update.) I just gave up and went to play WoW. Once in WoW, my speakers started going insane, making a puffing sound and disorting sound.  On top of that, my CPU jumped to 40%  and gave me heavily slowed down my computer. Opening the task managed revealed "System Interrupts" was taking 20%. I simply figured it's because I need to update my BIOS, so I tried again, with no luck. Now, 2 days later, my computer starts off well at first, but 10 minutes after I launch a video game (not browser) my System interrupts jumps up to 20% CPU usage and messes up my sound, mouse and overall speed, making everything very frustarting to do. The more I keep it on, the more my sound becomes disorted and my System interrupts uses more CPU. The problem started after I tried to update my BIOS with HPSA, and it still doesn't want to update my BIOS. That's why I am hoping someone here could help me.... Read more

Hi @JRMNY , Welcome to HP Forums! I have read you post and wanted to help. I understand that your laptop hangs at the BIOS update. Please try a hard reset to force the laptop shut down:Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.Remove the battery from the battery compartment.Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.Press the Power button to turn on the computer. If the hard reset does not work, the only other way is to wait the battery dry. Thanks for being a part of the HP community. A:Bios update stuck (HP Support Assistant)

Hi, You're welcome  The flash would have occurred at boot, so as this didn't happen, your existing bios revision will not have been affected. My personal opinion would be to not update the bios unless the update corrects a problem you are experiencing or adds additional functionality that you require - if the machine is running Ok, then there's really no need to update. Note:  I see from your screenshot that your current bios revision is F.1A - there are 2 later revions listed for your notebook.  HP Bios updates are cumulative, so if you do wish to update, the latest version will contain all the fixes/enhancements offered by previous versions - the latest revision listed is Here. Regards, DP-K

A:Bios Update HP Support Assistant Taking Too Long?

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Since you posted about 10 hours ago and 12 hours prior to that ... if the situation is still the same, try to STOP the process. It seems stuck/hung. If this doesn't help, please fire up Task Manager and close the HP Support Assistant - alternatively force a restart/reboot>> http://winaero.com/blog/all-ways-to-restart-and-shutdown-windows-10/ If your BIOS is not updated yet (due to the process being stuck), personally, I'd recommend you not to update BIOS. General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

As the subject-line states, after installing Win10 Creators, my Support Assistant and AlienFX no longer function; stuck with the last lighting profile I set.

I tried uninstall/reinstall of both programs, same result...  Loss of function.  When I go to the Dell support webpage for Alienware 15 R2 for downloads and look manually, there are NO updates/fixes that incorporate Win10 Creators for programs that have conflicts.

When is Dell going to address this???

Thanks.

Hi

Model No- HP Pavilion dv6330ea Notebook PC. Refer to the link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&d

my OS is vista home premium 32-bit.

Everytime i run Hp Support Assistant i get an error of CASLExec has stopped working. recently downloaded sp52110.exe for vista os. http://ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52110.exe
but everytime i run hp support assistant i get this error.

Even Hp Wireless Assistant is not working or not opening at all. Recently just flash bios, then installed wireless drives and finially installed wireless assitant but still now solution. same problem not opening at all. but wireless card is working fine and i can easily connect to the internet, therefore there is no wireless problem.

Because of hp wireless assistant, i am unable to turn on Bluetooth because previously when hp wireless assistant was working at that time i had ennabled wireless and disabled bluetooth. Now i am unable to turn on the bluetooth because of this.
Can anyone suggest me any alternative way to enable the bluetooth without hp wireless assistant.

Hi

I'm Hoping I get help on very aggervating issue I'm in need of help with my Windows Updates in Windows 7HP. I recently checked for new Updates and installed them. I've got 60+ FAILED updates all of them important! I have been unable to resolve this issue for 4 days now. I'm on a fixed income and can't afford high cost Tech Support fees or fix it Software. I've repeatedly performed HD formats and reinstalls on my laptop, ran downloads from the support site which include.. Microsoft Fix IT, Windows Update Diagnostic, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and System Update Readiness Tool. None of these fixed the issue, I also tried How to Fix steps found Online and on Youtube. I've checked all my drivers and they are updated and working properly. I do not have my Norton 360 installed right now, I'm waiting until the Updates problem is resolved I just have IE 11 browser and not using my laptop right now. I need to some how remove all the failed updates and get them reinstalled correctly. Unfortunately I don't know how to proceed in doing this which is why I need Help. I would appreciate any help received in resolving this frustrating problem!

A:Failed Windows Update Support

Go to the Start (Orb) in the Search Box type services.msc press enter, in the list of Services make sure the BITS service is running. If it is not, then double click on the service, and set to Automatic, then click on Start.

Restart your computer, see if the you can update windows.

So I just bought new msi ge62 laptop and it had windows 10 home, I tried to transfer my old 8 pro key and make it 10 pro but it kept saying that "this windows version cannot be updated".
So I called local Microsoft support number and they couldn't make it work either, so that support guy made me new 10 pro retail key for free!

My question is that is my old 8 pro retail key still valid and can I keep my current 10 pro install in my old laptop too?

They are separate keys but still I wonder if he somehow disabled that older key or is it still valid?

Did I really "score" full retail 10 key with my cheap 15? 8 pro key without even losing that 8 pro key in the process?

A:Update from 10 to 10 pro failed got new retail key from support for fr

Your Windows 8 Pro key is not disabled. Normally what you have to do to upgrade Windows 10 Home to Pro with a Windows 8 Pro product key is first upgrade to Pro with the generic Windows 10 Pro product key, then use your Windows 8 Pro product key to activate it. Sounds like you got lucky and a good deal. Make sure to write down the 10 Pro key and keep it safe.

I just recently uninstalled my AMD drivers along with catalyst. I then went into safe mode and used driver sweeper to insure that all drivers were gone. I restarted and my attempts to download greet me with an error message saying "Download Failed: HTTP 404" I honestly have no idea what to do now, I went into device manager and there are yellow signs next to my graphics cards (Crossfire ati radeon 5800 series cards) I'm at a total loss I've been all over google and this forum is my last hope.

I have an Aspire 5740G which Windows 10 update failed as not meeting requirements at this time (sorry no more info available).  All prior Microsoft updates etc installed.  I went to check for updated BIOS or Drivers on the Support site. Neither the search by serial number nor by SNID found any results! Search by model only yielded a picture of the Notebook and blank pages - not even legacy drivers!! This is not good enough.  I appreciate that you want to sell new equipment BUT failing to maintain even the most basic support will cost you in the long run.  I for one will look for another company when making future purchases and then recommend others to do the same! It is possible that I am missing something and even better if Acer are in the process of updating the BIOS/Drivers to enable compatibility with Windows 10 but I somehow doubt it.  If I am wrong then I will be pleased to apologise and also to thank the company and very publicly recommend Acer! So please address the above issues as a matter of urgency. Hopeful but not holding my breath!

right the support site works:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/1878;-;Aspire%205740G but has windows 7 support only, i don't know if Acer ever had windows 8 support for this device, since it's from 2010. i don't think you laptop will ever had windows 10 support:http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/windows10-eligible-models
