I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm looking at trying to get some experience on a Windows server operating system to help me apply for jobs. I want to learn how to create an Active Directory, DHCP and DNS environment in a virtual configuration so I don't have to obviously buy things. I've tried searching the web for guides but I really don't find much.Does anyone know of any good websites etc?

I appear to be the victim of some piece of malware or virus that has added a proxy server setting that I am unable to get rid of. The main symptoms are that I am unable to change my proxy server settings in Windows 10. It appears to use this setting http=;. The result of this is that I am unable to do searches in the omnibar of Google Chrome (just takes me to a blank page) and I can't visit certain webpages, also if I am able to do a Google search the "Search Tools" button is missing.
I looked around on the internet and have tried a few fixes, I've deleted or changed the registry entries mentioned in Philip Turner's reply here: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/446898-can-t-disable-proxy-in-ie10?page=1
I also changed the entry mentioned here: https://fixedit.itxpress.biz/2014/10/08/unable-to-disable-windows-proxy-setting/
Making these changes allowed me to change the proxy server settings and once I change "Automatically detect settings" to on and "Use a a proxy server" to off then the issue is fixed and everything behaves normally.
The problem is, once I restart my computer the settings revert back and are again unable to be changed unless I delete/change all the above registry entries again. I'm pretty sure that whatever did this is still on my computer somewhere and I need some help finding and eliminating it. Either that, or there is still some hidden registry entry that I am unable to find.

Hello everyone:

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I thought I would try.

We have an Exchange server running Windows Server 2000 and we Blackberry Enterprise Server running on a seperate server. We are getting ready to upgrade our Exchange server to Windows Server 2003 and have run into a snag with a test user we created. We created the new account on our old server and then moved the users mailbox to the new exchange server. When we did that the BES recognizes that the user has moved servers but it doesn't send or recieve messages to the handheld.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

This is a spoofing vulnerability that exists in the affected products and that could enable an attacker to spoof trusted Internet content. Users could believe they are accessing trusted Internet content when in reality they are accessing malicious Internet content, for example a malicious Web site. However, an attacker would first have to persuade a user to visit the attacker’s site to attempt to exploit this vulnerability.
Affected Software:

• Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1

We run a web proxy server on our network for internet access.
On client machines (running Windows 2012 R2) I have configured the proxy server setting in Internet Explorer "Tools\Internet Settings\Connections\LAN Settings" to point at the designated web proxy server.
When attempting to browse websites from IE I receive the "The proxy server isn't responding" error.
Conversely, browsing the same sites via Google Chrome and Firefox (installed on the same client server) return web pages without error.
In addition, if I run Internet Explorer as administrator (Right Click\Run as Administrator), I am able to browse web sites without receiving the error.
It would appear that the issue is isolated to browsing via IE when not run in elevated mode.
Has anyone come across this issue?

A:Server 2012 R2 - Internet Explorer Proxy Server Issue

Hi Dicki,
First, please try to reset the Internet Explorer. Some plug-ins may affect the proxy.
If it doesn't work, please try to perform a network capture on the client.
Please check if the client send the http traffic to the proxy server at the correct port.
If the client has sent the http traffic to the proxy server, please check if there is any warning or error in the proxy server.

I want to use the server as a proxy server so i can access the internet from the 98 machine
i have tried a few diffrent things to get this working but usually end up losing all communication with the 98 pc
from what i can gather it involves setting up tings with DNS, and sharing the connection to the internet, but i am not getting to far at the mo.

Hi guys,
What free Antivirus software for servers?
What free anti-malware would NOT be a good idea?
My friend has purchased a Poweredge server to act as a fileserver for a private network not connected to the internet..  He uses 2 laptops at the most  to access files on the server.
However at some points he will update Windows Server 2008 plus odd bits by temporaily hooking up to the Internet., and obviously leave himself open to malware etc. for a short time.
The cost of server Antivirus is very high and usually effective for 10 workstations upwards, and obviously he would appreciate keeping costs down.
I would appreciate thoughts on ideas for avoiding a costly solution.
Also, if he got Malware on it (e.g. Rootkit or Delta) would current Bleeping Computer tools (e.g. Rkill, RogueKiller etc) still work on the server - or does it require another approach?
I am asking fior advice BEFORE he gets started while options are open.
Thanks in advance guys

A:Free Server Antivirus ? e.g. for Windows Server 2008

The answer is fairly simple. Just read the details on the site -
Microsoft Security Essentials is available for small businesses with up to 10 PCs.
• Microsoft Security Essentials:
Microsoft updated it’s free Anti-Virus solution at the end of 2010 to support Windows 2008/R2.
This is easily one of the better free offerings as Microsoft has updated this solution to complete directly with some of the biggest solutions, such as Mcafee and Symantec paid versions.

When downloading, simply choose Windows Vista / Windows 7, as Microsoft has yet to update the website.http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

I'm messing around with W2K Server at home and can't seem to get it connected through my cable modem to my ISP's DHCP server. I know the cable and connection are good because it works on my W2K Pro workstation. I've tried ipconfig /renew but that's when the error occurs that it can't find DHCP. I can successfully ping the loopback address. The NIC is set to use DHCP.

Since I'm just becoming familiar with Server I'm sure there's something I'm not configuring properly. Suggestions?

Hello all, I'm not sure if this is an operating system question or more of a software development question.

Anyway, I have a legacy COM service, a COM server that runs as a windows service, that was written for Windows NT 4.0. I have managed to use the service on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP unchanged. However, I now wish to run the service on a Windows Server 2003 machine and I can't seem to get it to work.

This is what happens:-
1. Install the service and set it to log on using a domain account.
2. Start the service from the services.msc applet.
3. Start the client application and connect to the service.
4. At this stagte the client applicaiton freezes for approximately 60 seconds and then returns with the error message "Server execution failed".

I've also tried using the client whilst the service is stopped. In this case when I connect the service is started but I get the same error.

The development team also provided a standalone application that hosts the exact same COM objects, mainly for debugging purposes. If I use the standalone application everything works fine.

Its all very strange.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be? And preferably a solution.

A:DCOM service on Windows Server 2003 - "Server execution failed" when connecting

I found the answer.

The above discussion says that a service must enter a running state before a COM server calls CoRergisterClassObject. So I guess its a development problem.

Not sure why it only manifests on Windows Server 2003 though.

Can any one please tell me how to configure a mail server using a IPv6 address ?

A:Mail server in IPv6 environment ???

Completely depends on the mail server. Exchange, for example, depends totally on the underlying operating system (Windows 2003 or 2008). You configure DNS correctly, and Exchange works perfectly in a IPv6 environment. Windows 2003 and 2008 are preconfigured to work in an IPv6 environment, this includes the DNS servers.

OK so my server was unplugged, maliciously or not for at least two days it was unplugged. When I finally discovered it I restarted the computer and I had to restart the DNS because no one could get online through Ethernet. I also reset the WAN and the LAN. Now my wifi lynksys that has always worked shows up in the network, but devices trying to connect cannot obtain an IP address and cannot get on the internet.
In addition I noticed that my comcast modem will recognize the service and my dlink switch in LAN 2 and LAN4 ports but the LAN1 port where the wifi unit is connected will not light up and detect the wiifi. I have reset the modem and the wifi unit several times and nothing is working.
Can anyone think of anything else, or could this be a comcast issue? Oh, forgot to mention this all started right after a lightning strike on friday and the internet went down.
I tried configuring a new wifi unit but the same thing happens, so I reconnected the old wifi unit as it stands this is where I am at.

A:Ethernet working wifi not. Client server environment.

Has the wifi SSID name changed since you reset the router? Since the reset of the wifi router, what is the default IP address? Remove the wifi unit from switch and plug into a laptop or other Ethernet PC and attempt to connect to it after setting your Ethernet NIC to the static IP4 settings specified by the instruction manual for the linksys router. Make sure the linksys routers ip settings do not conflict with the Comcast gateway's own DHCP settings. What is handling DHCP in your network?

Hi folks,

I have about 10 computers that i have installed on the the above version of W7, and i have a server elsewhere on the network in which i want these computers go there for activation.

I have a guide from microsoft on how to that, but my problem is that when i need to put the pruduct key in order to tell the windows installation that it is a KMS activation it tell me that the key is wrong.
This key is publicly published in tue microsoft documentation here:

After investigating the case i have notice that the computer is't even try to communicate with the server over the network although that i gave it the right ip address of the server.

In short, the problem is somewhere between the key that microsoft published and the version of my windows (which i think it is the right version), and not between the KMS server and the KMS client.

A:Win 7 64b Enterprise Activastion using KMS server, how to do that?

KMS Servers require AT LEAST 25 clients before they can be used - for lower numbers you have to use MAK Licensing.

Hi all,

Currently it sits on its own on a dual xeon 3GHz, 4Gb ram server, which seems like a waste. That why i want to shift it to a Pentium D 3GHz, 2Gb ram pc running XP Pro. The pc does little else so processing wise it should be ok to handle it.

Does anyone have any experience with migrating or just plain installing BES 4.1 on a pc with xp pro then?

Hopefully this is the right place, I didn't see a listing for Server OS's.

I just wanted to know if anyone has gone thru the process of upgrading an existing Server 2003 install to a Server 2003 x64. I am going to upgrade a server and would like to know if there are any snags that I should anticipate. I have already verified that the hardware is sufficient. This server is also the application server for SQL. I have searched for ways of migrating the databases over, and what I have found seems to be pretty straight forward. I have not found anything so simple for the upgrade to a x64 version of Server 2003.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just installed server 2003 enterprise edition on an Iomega Nas drive that used to be running 2000 advanced server. Install went well...mirroring of the 2 60 GB drives was fine but now after 1 restart I can only boot in safe mode and when I try a regular boot it doesn't get past the Windows 2003 boot up screen. What do I need to do to make the hardware compatable with the software. Bios upgrade? and if so where? Iomega won't tech support me cause I'm not running the original OS installed and cause it's out of warranty. Damn the man.

NAS specs.

2 60 GB and 1 300GB IDE harddrives.
256 MB RAM

I have a old CRM system that must be run in Enterprise mode (it will be upgraded soon). The sitelist works fine through group policy, however the CRM is running on port :5555 how do I specify in the sitelist so the Enterprise mode start also on this port?
I have added the site to xml file but site list manager removes port number from url. The sites.xml file looks like this:

<rules version="9">
  <domain exclude="false">crm<path exclude="false">/company</path></domain>
Now if I visit the site http://crm (which only contain IIS splash page), enterprise mode is enabled. However if I visit the real site on port 5555: http://crm:5555/ Enterprise mode is NOT on.

How can I make sitelist to force IE11 in enterprise mode on a different/specified port (or all ports) for a domain?

A:Enterprise mode, how do I specify server port in SiteList?

It seemed that we may create registry keys to achieve this goal.
The examples below are per-computer:
Create a new key: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode
Create the appropriate new values in the new key:
To allow users to manually run sites in Enterprise mode:
Value Name: Enable
Value Type: String (REG_SZ )
Value Data: leave blank to just enable manual Enterprise Mode, or specify a URL and port if Internet Explorer should post to that URL/port to log changes to the Enterprise Mode settings
To specify the location of the XML site list
Value Name: SiteList
Value Type: String (REG_SZ)
Value Data: URL or path to XML site list created using the above tool

Good evening, in an attemp to be brief: I've been using this build for several months without any issues, but suddenly a week or so ago I start having seemingly random BSODs. I believe I've narrowed down the problem to these suspects: AIMP3 (music player, causes some graphical glitches if set to be "always on top" and another app goes fullscreen, althought I've used it for *a while* without any real problems), TeamSpeak (voice chatting program, recetly installed), Ragnarok (an "old" game, recently installed, tried several compatibility modes just in case but with no effect), KeyMaestro (keyboard driver and utility, an older version was responsible for BSODs on Windows 7, but I've been using this one for month without issues), Firefox Aurora (alpha version, updated constanly), CCleaner (foolishly used it's "registry cleaner" capabilities, already undone changes and awaiting to see effect) and Windows Search (recently installed, haven't tried disabling it yet). But finding wich one is the real culprit is proving to be a troublesome task, hence I turn to you, hoping you may help me solve this irksome situation.

I attach more than enough information about the system, you can have a quick look at this CPU-Z Screenshot or this Speccy generated report: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/W...nvfPsgX6gcFNPw

Hola Zippo, bien venidos a SF!

I've had a quick look at your latest jump to see if that would confirm your suspicion and it seems to do that. It points to Maestro2.sys. Remove it (as a test) completely and retry?
