Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Q: Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Hi there, I am a new user of a Yoga 530 and was wondering if there is a possibility to charge the device with a powerbank? I know that the USB-C ports are not capable of charging the laptop and that the laptop needs to be charged via the small round plug (sry I don't know the technical terms). The question is rather whether there is a power cable available that has a USB plug on the "non-laptop" side so I can then plug that into my powerbank (or a USB charging station)? Hopefully, the question is understandable. Thaks for any help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Short answer is no. The USB Type A ports on power banks, et al, deliver 5V at around 1 or 2A. Your 530's slim-tip charging port is looking for Around 20 volts (I don't have the exact voltage available, offhand, but it'll be listed on the charger that came with the computer). Creating a USB to slim-tip cable could damage both the computer and the power bank.

Here is an article featuring several power banks that might provide the necessary voltage and current. As I haven't tried any of them, I can't say for sure, but if you're very careful to match voltage, current and connector polarity, you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

My neighbour was given a second-hand computer and asked for my help setting it up.

It is a Dell Optiplex 755 running Win7.

Currently installed graphics is NVidia Quadro FX 3500.

I looked up the service tag and this is not the original card (Original was ATI HD2400XT).

The issue I have is that the FX3500 is an 80W card, with the PCI-E slot having a max of 75W. On booting I get low power warnings from the NVidia card.

The card has a 6 pin PCI-E connection available for the additional power, but the PSU has no PCI-E power cable.

The only free power cables from the PSU are a couple of 15pin SATA cables. I have seen adapter cables for 15pin SATA to 6 pin PCI-E. Are these any good for my situation?

If not, what are the alternatives? New PSU? Different GFX card?

A:Power adapter cable for PCI-E

Based on what you just told us, one of those adapter cables should work just fine.

The power cable on my dv7, that plugs into my computer was loose from day 1.  Thinking this may have been normal, I didn't report this to HP.  Eight months later, it eventually burnt out the post that the cable plugs in to.  I didn't notice the condition of the post inside until I went and bought a new power adapter and cable, which at the time cost $60 on sale at Best Buy.  I still would not work, so I contacted HP, FEDEX'd the computer to them, just to have them say that this was not covered by warranty.  I was always led to believe that any part that was defective due to the manufacturer, was under warranty.  I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with HP standing behind their warranty.  If this is not just a remote situation, I don't see how HP could stay in business.  I know that if HP refuses to make some type of adjustment on this part, I will never purchase anything else from them. Colt 38

A:HP Pavilion dv7 power adapter cable

I'm in a situation.  I've had nothing but problems with my HP Pavilion DV5000, within a few days of purchasing it, it completely crashed.  Best Buy replaced it, after having the new laptop for a few months I noticed it wasn't charging properly.  About a month I got frustrated because my laptop was about dead so I unplugged the adapter from my computer only to find that the little pin from the ac adapter had broke off INSIDE my computer. I took it to Best Buy being assured it would be fixed since it was still under warranty and not cost me anything, a week later they call quoting me $200.  I called HP and they said to send it to them and they'd fix it.. sent it to them and again after a week of having it they finally contacted me telling me that I am being charged $317 for the repairs and a new AC adapter and that the AC adapter is NOT covered under the limited warranty.  I ask to talk to someone else and was told they can't give out any numbers, they'd have someone contact me.  I received a call yesterday morning explaining it was my fault this happened.. and that they won't cover it and the cost was now $314.  At that time I was also informed that my hard drive needed replacing but they'd cover that.  I asked to speak to someone else and the guy told me he was the highest person to talk to (which was BS).  I hung up and called back the numbers he gave me incase we got disconnected, a woman answered this time saying they ... Hello, the USB power cable is very short. Almost as short as the Macbook air cable but the Lenovo does not bring the prolonger. What should I do to have a longer cable or how can I prolong the cable? Thank Youg.

A:Yoga 900 - very short power cable

Good day.

A number of folks have commented that they would like a longer reach with the cabling.
What I've personally done is to get a short, inexpensive extension cord that I plug the power block into, and then plug that cord into the wall receptacle. This arrangement mimics, in some ways, the design used on other Lenovo laptops.

Hope this helps a bit.
Regards.

The Yoga 3 Pro power adapter looks like a normal USB brick, and the cord looks like USB, except with a kink in the connector at the Yoga 3 Pro end. Can I charge my phone or tablet with it?

A:What's with the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter - it's a ...

Yes the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter is a USB charger too!

How does it work?

The special "fool proof" charging cord has two extra pins on the AC adapter end and two extra pins on the Yoga 3 Pro end. The extra pins only make a connection when the fool proof cord is plugged in to the Lenovo charger and the Yoga 3 Pro. When a regular USB cord is plugged into either the charger or the Yoga 3 Pro, it makes a regular USB connection.

Can I charge the Yoga 3 Pro with any USB charger?

No. The Yoga 3 Pro requires 2A at 20V, which is what the provided 40W Lenovo AC adapter supplies.

Can I charge a USB device with the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter?

Absolutely. In addition to 2A at 20, the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter supplies 2A at 5.2V (10.4W), enough to charge a phone or tablet. Works for iPad.

Where can I buy spare AC adapters and cords?

AC adapters with cords are sold in the accessories section of the Lenovo store.

Where do I find the part numbers for the AC adapter and cord?

Look for AC Adapters In the PDF Yoga 3 Pro Hardware Maintenance Manual.

What are the USB specs of the Yoga 3 charging port?

It's a USB 2.0 port. It provides enough power to charge an iPhone, but not enough to charge an iPad. If you want to charge an iPad, try the USB 3.0 port on the right of the Yoga 3 Pro.

I have just "upgraded" (if I can call it so) my 3 year old X1 Carbon to the 720 15IKB, I noticed the new adapter is 20V 6.75A (it's very big and heavy). My question is if I can use my old X1 Carbon adapter (20V 3.25A) or the one that came with my original Dock (20V 4.5A)? while away from home? I don't mind slower charging while traveling, my concern is performance and potential damage. If it isn't advisable, is there a lighter adapter I can purchase for traveling? Any advice and help appreciated. sutjahjo

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement power adapter for a Lenovo Yoga 2 11? According to the manual, it should be 45W. It appears that neither the original nor any approve substitutes that are listed on the Lenovo site are available for purchase from Lenovo.  I tried to buy one online but ended up giving my money to an overseas scammer. There seems to be a facsimile available in the States, but reviews say that it is a fire hazard and wrecks computers. I'd like to buy one that works and is safe. This is for my grandson's Lenovo Yoga 2, 11 inch. It was manufactured in 2016. He lost the power supply while it was under warranty only a few months after buying it but the family was moving so they thought it would turn up. It never did. Hello everyone, I purchased Lenovo Yoga 900 Ideapad and I am currently using it in India. The power adapter seems to have gone bad and I wasn't able to charge the laptop with the given adapter.  Since the laptop is under warranty, I contacted the warranty help line only to know that I need to take the laptop to the service center. At a service center, no one really knew how the USB 3.0 charging port works and couldn't check whether the cable was short or the adapter had gone bad. Anyhow, they decided to replace it under warranty but again, they weren't sure when and if the replacement would arrive (as it depends on the inventory levels with Lenovo India).  An exclusive Lenovo shop then offered me an original Lenovo power adapter with USB 3.0 charging at USD 70 but only when it got delivered, I see that it is 40W and not 65W like the original one I had.  65W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter (one which connects the laptop) is orange. The wall adapter doesn't heat up while laptop is charging.40W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter is yellow. The wall adapter heats up quite a lot while the laptop is charging.  The Lenovo store representative has assured me that this is the right adapter but somehow I am not convinced.  Can the community throw some light on this:- Is it safe to use a 40W adapter for a 65W specification?- Is there any way I can get the adapter replaced by Lenovo US (I can ship the faulty adapter to US)?- I... There isn't and there won't be an adapter.  The USB-C power delivery process involves a negotiation between the computer (or other device) and the adapter. The same adapter can charge a 5V phone or a 20V laptop. (also 9V or 15V) If the adapter and computer cannot negotiate correctly, no charging will occur. My USB-C charger will charge my thinkpad or my cell phone, but not my other laptops.

I think there is a short in the power adapter. It gets red hot and only charges when not fully (about halfway) inserted into the wall outlet or power strip. I can hear sparking inside of the power brick when i insert it and a spark flies to or from the outlet to the adapter as the prongs near the receptacle. Not sure but I think this might be a short where the prongs fold into the adapter for travel. I don't transport it much so there isn't a lot of folding in and out in which I could blame the issue on over use. Anybody else have issues with the power adapter shorting? I have not had this computer very long, well since about christmas, what are my chances of Lenovo swapping this out for a new one? I am waiting for a call back after contacting tech support. Thanks for any input....

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. I'm having a bizarre issue where simply unplugging the official Lenovo power supply from the orange USB power port causes the laptop to immediately issue the subject warning, along with the detail "A USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port".   This warning pops up every 5 seconds, unless clicked on, where reset/close options do nothing.  Crazy thing is, NOTHING is plugged into any USB port!   Reattaching the power supply does not clear the error.  Only rebooting with the power supply cable connected clears the error.   Remove the power cable, and the error instantly comes back.   All of the USB ports actually work fine, including the USB C port, whether or not this message is active. Maybe it is a hardware issue, but ALL the USB ports actually work fine.  I can't figure how unpluging the power source can trigger a USB power surge when nothing is actually connected and the battery is fully charged.  I've removed/reinstalled the USB Root hub, eXtensible Host Controller, Generic USB Hub, etc., drivers multiple times to no avail.   No errors with any devices are apparent in the device manager. I've seen a lot of issues reported about USB power surges but none like mine.   Anyone have any ideas about this?  System: Lenovo Yoga 900/16GB/Windows 10

hi all,

I'm in a bind, and a friend referred me to this site, where I might be able to find some decent answers.

I run a small computer store in my hometown, and I was fixing a Sony Vaio PCG-FRV35 Notebook, It's fairly old, p4 with 512mb ram... But anyway, I was just removing spyware and viruses from it, and finished that up, then he said his sound wouldnt play, i started by reinstalling drivers and all that good stuff but it didnt play, I decided to lookinto the notebook to see if the speaker wires were connected and everything was fine there...

I pried off the faceplate for the powerbutton and LEDs and everything thats just above the keyboard, and I saw a ribbon cable connecting the power button and speaker circuit board to the motherboard, so i carefully unhooked it and put it aside, after finding no problems I rehooked it back up and tried to turn on the computer again... no power no post no sound nothing. It's like the power button is shot now. I've troubleshooted for 3 hours already on it, tried a multimeter to check to circuit connections, tried _everything_

I have no idea what to do now, this guy want's his laptop so he can work with it, and I dont feel like having to replace a laptop... this is like a techs worst nightmare >_<

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, is there any known issues were these power ribbons?

my Lenovo Y400 is facing a problem. The battery is charging, but when unplug the power cord, the laptop lose all power and off. i thought battery problem but after replaced, it is still the same.Seems like the laptop just won't draw power from battery. i suspect i overheated parts of my laptop, since the left speaker which is near the heat exhaust not sounding well. The power plug point is also at the top left side, i wonder will it have anything to do with not getting power from battery?or are there other possible cause?

When plugging in the power adapter, the "charge" light does not come on, nor will the notebook power up. To rule out the HP power adapter I plugged in a Targus universal adapter (with correct polarity) and same result. Same results whether the battery is installed or not. The notebook had been in storage for several months, therefore, no recent changes. Any ideas?

I have a Yoga 14 (Type 20FY) Laptop (ThinkPad) that came with a 65W 20V 3.25 A AC adapter. Could I use it with an AC adapter from an IdeaPad that is 90W 20V 4.5 A? Both adapters have rectangular ?slim tip? to plug into the laptop.
