I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Everyone  I just need help with my Y730 15inch model wifi card. I saw someone replace that as Intel AC 9560 on their Y530. So I thought that should work on my laptop too. I replaced with 8560 once. But I could not find that card in my driver manager. I mean somehow there should be a device logo with yellow thing there, right? (I did not install the software driver at that time.) Therefore, I come to ask if anyone has an idea what should I do first? I mean, should I install the driver before I replace it physically? Or, should I replace it first, install driver and reboot? I am still not 100% sure Intel AC9560 will work on this laptop. Also, I want to ask I do not need to reinstall windows when I replace the wifi card, right?

A:Y730-15 WiFi Card replace

Most laptops have a whitelist of cards that can be installed, so while you laptop may support the AC 9560, it would have to be a Lenovo branded one to work, which for the Y730 is FRU P/N:  01AX768 Here is one that is compatible with your system.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-9560NGW-bt5-0-Card-For-Lenovo-01AX768-hp-937263... Once you install the card into your system, you just need to install the driver below and it should be detected Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Legion Y730-15ICH, Legion Y730-17ICHhttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/mdlg03af08rb.exe Cheers,

I have a laptop INSPIRON E1705 with a WLAN card (p/n DW 1390) installed. I would like to replace it with a WiFi/Bluetooth combo card so I can have Bluetooth capability. What is the recommended card to buy that is compatible with Windows 10?

A:Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

Given that there will be no antenna inside the system for bluetooth, you're better off with one of these:

I've had a lot of problems with my wifi card for like a year so i want to replace it, i did some research finding the manual with the info and the part number https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_y40_50_series_hmm.pdfThe problem is that i have an Atheros ar956x card which is not listed there so i want to know if i can replace it with another one from the manual, i was thinking the intel 7260 would be nice because it also has dual channel (the atheros doesn't) but even if i could i don't know if i can get a new one because of the "part number", they are quite expensive for me compared to other ones like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/04W3806-Intel-Dual-Band-7260NGW-AC-BT4-0-WIFI-NGFF-Card-for-IBM-Lenovo-lapto... because i am not from the US and the shipping cost is quite expensive for me.tldl: could i replace my atheros ar956x card for the intel card on the ebay listing or anything similar.

So I've had an Acer v5 522p for just over a year now, and within the past 2 months, the wifi has gone from bad, to horrible, and yesterday, to non-existant. I've done what every other thread on this board, and other boards have said: reinstalling drivers, disabling bluetooth, disabling the power management on the wifi adapter, and I even did a factory reset. Nothing. So, I'm now looking to either buy a USB wifi adapter, or preferably just get a new wifi adapater card and replace the Atheros AR5BWB222. But, I have no idea whether the motherboard has a whitelist on replacing wifi cards or not, any thoughts? Thanks!

Hello. Earlier this year I buy a second hand Thinkpad x240. It is provided with a Realtek RTL8192EE wireless card. This card had two problems:- No 5GHz- A firmware "cardboard-based" (frequently disconnected) I planned to replace this wifi card and chose an Intel 7260NGW. It was difficult to know which card is accepted, but I read in some place that the Intel 7260 is accepted on Thinkpad X240. But after a try, this card is not accepted. The computer is blocked by bios  So, my question is simple: Which wifi card can I use on my Thinkpad X240?

A:Replace wifi card on a X240

Hello and welcome,

To pass the BIOS whitelist a card must be a listed model AND have a Lenovo FRU number.  A "generic" 7260 won't pass.

The models and FRU numbers are listed in the BOM:

hi sm222,

Sorry to hear what happened,

The Wifi card that you should use should be on the whitelist and it should have a Lenovo FRU tag on it.
This is the list

Technically the model should match together with the Lenovo FRU tag

My PC doesn't get detect 5GHz and the increase bandwidth from my router, so I want to replace it. But before I take it apart, I want to make sure that I can do so and buy the right parts. Is this possible, and if so what should I get? I also want to add bluetooth as I remember the website had an option to do so, but bc the Costco Set Config was cheaper, I went that route instead.  Is it possible to do this internally w/o an external part [like a usb dongle] PS. Hi. In over my head (not hard to do in this area ) I have Centurylink service and currently are renting their modem/wifi box. I want to replace it with my own modem and my Linksys EA4500 N900router. What do I need to buy to replace the modem so that it is compatible with Centurylink? and do I need to know the IP address currently associated with it to set up the new modem?
Thanks!

A:Replace Centurylink Modem/Wifi

You need to check either them to see if they allow that and what all you need to configure and let them know, they may not allow modems that aren't approved from them work or may charge you for modem rental anyways as it may be part of their service. You may also loose the ability for them them to provide you troubleshooting if they are unfamiliar with the units you choose. It appears they are a DSL provider and not Cable is that correct? For DSL you'd have to program the router with your DSL username and password to connect, so you'll need to know that. You shouldn't need to know any IP address for the modem as that's assigned by them but you will need to be able to access your router to configure it, so either it's IP address or use the CD Wizard to configure it.

Has anyone tried or know if it's possible to replace the Intel AC-7260 Wi-fi Adapter in the W541 models? I've been having problems with it the past few months in that when using the 5GHZ band, the adapter loses connection or just crashes all together. I have reboot to use Wi-Fi again. This does not happen when using 2.4 GHZ. It looks to be a problem with the Intel hardware, based on other posts I've found. Hi new here. Bought a y730 a month or so back and worked great until recently. After getting all the updates, the fingerprint scanner no longer works. Seems to be a fairly common issue? I read here and tried all the fixes (tried to update the intel software and also the drivers for the reader) and still nothing. I called support and they were essentially worthless. Rolled my computer back and finally suggested I re-install windows after that did not work. It seems as if this is related to the 1803 update?  Does anyone have this working and or a procedure that works? If I install the later updates to the fingerprint driver I get error code 10 (device won't start I think?) and the intel security update that was listed refuses to install (it says both there is an older and newer version during its install).  Any advice is appreciated.

It seems Lenovo doesn't even remember (or is playing revisionist history tricks) that they made the Ideapad Y730.  Looking around the support pages, NOTHING will turn up any reference to the Y730.  There are no drivers, etc to be found  on this site.  I have tried searching by the two different serial numbers taht show up in BIOS, and they can't manage to find themby those either.  And forget about their "automatic" lookup utility; it will sit there spinning for ***HOURS*** (yes, I left it to run overnight once) and can't manage to even START finding anything.  Their site is severely broken.Even trying the so-called-"support" line, the "tech" couldn't find the machine by S/N either, and kept insisting it couldn't be that number.  Well, if it's the wrong number (on the sticker *as well as* the BIOS), then it's Lenovo that got that wrong. So what's the story?  Are they trying to deny the product?  Did they fubar this one worse than usual that they have to pretend it never existed?

Hello,

I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card (Ralink rt61 turbo) and have plugged in and installed drivers. Initially the drivers the company I bought it from told me to install didn't work, but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website. However these didn't work either.

When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected, however in device manage it is both connect and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine.

I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows 7 would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true. This case however I get nothing. Windows 7 says that the wireless card is experiencing problems, it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown.

I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers that should have worked and they haven't.

I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows 7 it works perfectly fine without any hassle, so the card is definitely working.

Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome.

Thanks

Aieden

Hey guys,

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

B570 Laptop (Lenovo)Serial Number: WB03xxxxxxxMachine Type Model: 1068AGUWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bitAtheros ar9285 AR5B95 (replacement from third party, sold as new)Physical wifi switch is "on".Adaptor is correctly identified in Device Manager and driver loads okay. Driver shows best driver when update attempted.Adapter appears in Network Connections, but shows the big red X and "Not connected".Wifi network icon appears on system notification area, again with a big red X.Attempted to connect shows "No connections are available" and there is no list of available SSID's. I am sitting less than 6 feet from my Buffalo Air Station and there are multiple devices connected to the wifi on that router.  I have restarted the router and checked configuration to make sure it's not totally locked down.Fn-F5 appears to do nothing. Power Management is installed and configured. The wifi light (lower left corner of the case, light farthest to the right) lights briefly during startup (POST?) then never lights up again.I installed this card myself and have checked the hardware multiple times. Wires are connected, card is fully seated in socket.Checked the knowledge base and found this:   https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Z470-cannot-connect-to-WiFi/ta-p/681711  Did not help. Does anybody have any ideas about this? Any help appreciated. Mark

A:B570 - no wifi connections available on replacement AR9285 wifi card

Failed to mention: The driver is updated automatically. I also tried rolling it back to version 8.0.0.238 (10/5/2009). Did not resolve. Currently on driver version 9.2.0.115 (11/24/2010).

Hi Everyone, I have a Legion Y730. I spent days searching for an answer and was not able to find a solution that worked until now. It seems that this was something that many people had posted about over the years and the solution was very difficult to find if at all. I wanted to share with everyone so that they may find the answer in one place. After reformatting my drive recently and freshly installing Windows 10, my F4, F8, F10-11 secondary functions stopped working. There was no solution anywhere until I saw one post in a random forum that stated that he had Lenovo Utility disabled in his startup and needed it to be enabled for them to work... Low and behold, I found this driver: https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds500481 It is not automatically installed with Lenovo Vantage, or Windows Update, or even DriverEasy (which I have the pro version). Install this, restart, and all of your function keys work once again! I hope this helps whoever is trying to search for a solution to this once and for all!
