Lenovo T410 Memory compatability issue

Q: Lenovo T410 Memory compatability issue

Hello, I have a lenovo T410 with stock memory 2x2gb ramaxel DDR3 1333, on windows 7. I want to upgrade the memory by upgrading one slot to 4gb. I have bought a G.skill F3-12800CL9S-4GBSK. After replacing one of the slots with the new memory - windows won't boot, sometimes the windows icon shows for a moment and then the computer reboots, and sometimes I get BSOD with the error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" Windows startup recovery gives the same result. The memory is recognized by the bios and I can see the memory increment. Tried to change bios SATA setting from AHCI to compatability with no success. The memory works fine on Fujitsu Ah532 running windows 10. Please help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. lenovors:I recently purchased a refurbished lenovo T410 from the newegg. Upon receiving it, I have been in love with it. But two weeks ago, I encountered [0xc000000f] error message while I was doing a resetting it to out of the box condition. Since it was around thanksgiving, I decided to upgrade the computer. I bought an 8G memory and 256G ssd. Now I am having the following problems:1. With the original hdd in, windows was fine, I switched out the one original 2g memory to the new 8G memory. After I turned on the computer, it passed on the window log (starting) without moving. Basically, it was stuck after swapping the 2g original memory with a newly bought 8G memory. The original memory is Hynix, HMT325S6BFR8C-H9,SODIMM, 2G, 204 Pin, PC-10600 (Bus Type), 1.5ns (Cycle Time), CL9, 1333Mhz (Data Transfer Rate), 166Mhz (Memory Clock)The new 8g memory is: Team 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 Laptop Memory Model TSD38192M1600C11-EWhen I put the new memory in, got into BIOS, the computer recognized it, it show the total memory as 10G.Please advise me if anything I could do to get this memory work out, otherwise, I have to return the memory back to newegg.2. I swapped out the old hdd to new ssd. It does not have issue with hardware. Since my old hdd has [0xc000000f] error message, I installed my own copy of windows7_pro_with_SP1. The windows7 was installed successfully. However, now my wireless, wire internet connection seem not work, also, when I was with 'old' hdd, my compu... Read more

I am having trouble getting the built-in wireless adapter on this laptop to get connected to the internet. I have installed the following driver:
but have had no luck. there are no available wireless connections I can connect to.
I have also tried to use USB wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N to connect to internet. It is able to find available connections but when it tries to connect it says unable to connect and give options to troubleshoot. Once troubleshoot is complete it says to investigate router or access point issues. I have reset the router many times. Other devices are working fine with the internet just not this laptop.
I am running windows 7 64Bit.
Please help.

Can you connect the laptop to the router using a cable at all ?

using just the laptop wireless adapter
unlikely to be this as it is reporting NO networks available - but check anyway please
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

Hi everyone,
Need a new laptop for my computer science degree, considered quite a few. Was just wondering if anyone has an oppinion on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2516, I would upgrade it as follows:
i5-460m processor
windows 7 home premium 64
320GB 7200rpm hard drive
9 cell battery
Anyone think i should upgrade it differently, I'd like to get it a little cheaper so where if anywhere should i make the cuts in upgrades?
Has anyone got this laptop? is it particularly heavy to carry around?

Hello there folks. I've got a ThinkPad T410 that I has no charger as I threw it away, the cord frayed, didn't work and threw off sparks everywhere. Since then the T410 has just been sitting in storage but now I'd love to get it up and running again. Thing is, I don't remember which charger I need. Lenovo's official page for the T410 says it supports a 65w and a 90w charger and I don't know which one it needs. Does it matter? Thanks, have a good day.

Have a good day.

Hi Ram,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As I understand that you have query regarding T410 AC adapter. Yes, you can use both 65W & 90W Adapter depending upon your usage.
Normally 90W Adapter is used when you are using the system with dock as it will consume more power

I have been getting regularly occurring BSODs with various errors. Looking for help please.
The dump output from BSOD program and performance monitor data are attached.

The system is:
Lenovo T410
Current OS is Windows 7 and is the one that came with the system.
System is 3 or 4 years old.

The BSODs seem to occur during heavy browser usage. Having multiple tabs opened and switching back and forth between tabs, the browser, and desktop apps. But almost always (if not always), when I am in a browser window.

I did a hardware scan on my computer and it showed me a hardware problem with the memory. The computer have been working fine for many years now. The only thing I did not so long after I got it was to upgrade to 8 GB of memory and an SSD disk. So it have been working great for many years. No it's started turning it self of sometimes while I use it. The scan showed result code: WMEBVVBTH-WL8BRF Also see the log attached. Is the memory starting to go bad or is it the Windows? The computer is upgraded to Windows 10 a few months back.

Anyways my Lenovo ThinkPad has started to go laggy all of a sudden and I think its because of a virus bc my anti-virussoftware (Avast) always says that it blocks multiple urls that are supposedly infected and similar things like that, but factory restore seems to get rid of most viruses and I'm not exactly sure if my lappy has a virus or not, but it still lags and it could be adware or something like that meaning that it'd be a minor one, . I tried following guidelines how to do a factory reset but it wasnt the right guideline. But anyway, how do you factory restore a Lenovo T410? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I need some help please:

I keep getting a BSOD like clockwork on my Laptop.
The Laptop can run in safe mode with no issues....Tested this last night and this it was still on this morning.
I initially thought it was the ram so I removed the onboard 4Gb and replaced it with a new chip.
I thought it was the video drivers so I tried all Lenovo's recommended drivers but it doesnt work cause according to the drivers I dont have a graphics card.
I reloaded windows 7 32 to bit by doing a clean install and have not loaded any other drivers except the ones thats generic by windows7.
I am clueless as I have tried every angle possible.

Anyone pls

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).

Hi guys and/or girls, I am working on upgrading a business laptop which happens to be the Lenovo Thinkpad T410, now im putting an 250GB 850 Evo to replace the INSANELY SLOW HDD, however i am also upgrading the system from windows 7 and upgrading the RAM, now here is where i need help, I am going to be installing a 2x4GB kit of Corsair Vengence SODIMM, however I am unsure whether i should go for the DDR3 1600 kit or the DDR3L 2133 kit, now these are both the same price so the obvious pick would be the DDR3L due to the lower power draw and higher frequency, but the current memory installeld is only 1333, however the laptop is documented to work with 1600 so i know this isn't a problem, however I am unsure if it would even correctly downclock the 2133 or would it simply refuse to post, as well as this, would the laptop still attempt to send 1.5v to the memory or will it automatically do 1.35v as required by the DDR3L, oh how i do wish laptops all offered an "advanced" section within the BIOS which would allow me to tweak all of this stuff, however the only thing the bios lets me do with memory is set an extended mem test during boot which obviously is no help.  Thanks for your help

Hi all, apologies if this was addressed eons ago...search didn't turn anything up.  I tried to upgrade my RAM to a matched pair of Crucial 4gig modules, but the computer wouldn't even boot with them installed.  These are 1.35v and Crucial's site advised that they would work...but obviously they did not.  I know these older T410's shipped with 1.5v so before I return these and hunt down the older spec I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a simple check in BIOS to make these compatible?

Hello, I am trying to enable virtualization on a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 laptop at my workplace. I have read elsewhere that I need to initialize Virtualization in my laptop's BIOS (in VMware, I am told I need to "enable Virtualization Technology intel VT-X"). In the BIOS, under Config -> CPU (I have looked in other parts of the BIOS already, but there are no other Virtualization options except in this directory), I see the following optionsCore Multiprocessing........................EnabledIntel(R) Hyper-Threading..................EnabledIntel(R) Virtualization Technology.....DisabledIntel(R) VT-d Feature........................Disabled Now, you would think I should simply be able to scroll down to the last two to enable ... that's not the case. I can scroll up and down (with up and down arrows) between Multiprocessing and Hyper-Threading, but not the last two. I have read this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=113817&p=731447#p731447The solution described does not help me as I can't even scroll down to Virtualization to attempt to enable it. Does anyone know of a solution?

My lenonvo (thinkpad) t410 is stuck in startup. I was checking email and I noticed that my screen was freezing up a bit when an error message box came on screen (unfortunately I did not take note of what it said) and my computer began to shut down by itself. I hit the power button to make sure it wouldnt restart and gave it 20 minutes before i went to turn it back on. Now when i try to turn it on, it shows the lenovo splash screen but then goes black and shows the splash screen again, never proceeding to windows. I have spent most of the say looking up possible solutions, but while many people have had similar problems, most other posts involve system recovery options, which do not appear on my screen. It is allowing me to boot into BIOS but I have not been able to find a solution there. Do I need to reinstall Windows? Please help.

System information:

- Lenovo T410
- Bought December 2010
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM
- Hitachi 500 GB hard drive
- NVIDIA NVS 3100m Optimus Graphics 512MB DDR3 with AMT
- 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) + I installed another 4 GB

I have not reinstalled the OS. The laptop had BSOD's right out of the box. They are unpredictable and occur 1-4 times per day. I disabled the switchable graphics, which seemed to reduce the frequency of the BSODs a little. I've updated the system via Lenovo's System Update tool. I called Lenovo's technical service and they ran through their stock checks and it didn't help.

I've attached the dump and system file collection + system diagnostics.

Thanks for any insight,

In our company we have migrated from Toshiba to Lenovo laptops/tablets.  Recently users have been reporting that their T410 laptops are very very slow.  Most of the time they over estimate the slowness time, but this time it's not.  I checked the device and it takes 4-5 minutes from powering on the device to getting the ctrl+alt+del screen.  In that time, there is a few seconds where the screen goes completely black, then comes back. After logging in, it takes another 5-6 minutes to get to the desktop.  I've checked the Hard Drive, memory, spyware, etc. and everything checks out.  The user states that this only started happening a couple of weeks ago.  He's had the device for about a year. Anyone else noticing this type of slowness and what could be causing this issue? Thanks

What happens if you load a program such as HWInfo32 to ensure that the CPU isn't running too slowly? When running HWInfo32, the CPU speed should match or exceed the adverstised speed of the laptop whenever some program is actively using the CPU.

Probably you have a blown fuse on the motherboard.  It was common on that model when breaking the original panel

I am having a problem with charging my battery. If I take the battery out the t410 will run ok. If I put the battery in it will shut down. If I leave it shut down it will charge the battery up. I can then run the computer until the battery goes dead again, at which time I have to shut it down and let it charge. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Hello Everyone,

Odd thing i've experienced yesterday, upgraded lenovo t410 laptop to intel ssd drive 180 GB and decided to instal win7 pro with integrated sp1.
In the post installation stage, while setting username and computer name computer crashed with BSOD.
It happen 4-5 times. Even booting in the safe mode i experienced 2 times complete freeze where i had to manually power off laptop.
I continued installing drivers on notebook and seams that issue is no longer present.
I have different problem now, windows shuts down unexpectedly without any bsod dumps. happen also several times in past 24h.
In attach you will see in system logs only single entry as i cleared event logs to find last occurrence easily.

Note that with Hitachi disk that was in laptop before I never experienced bsod, true is that i got laptop with installed win7proSP1 on it with all drivers installed.
I used lenovo system update tool to get all drivers to the system.

I am suspecting that new hardware (intel ssd 520 series) might be cause of this or the drivers either on sata controller or on disk.
according to ssd toolbox firmware on disk is latest.

Run Disk Full test with Intel ssd toolbox and finished successfully.
Also checked with malwarebytesand scanned system no issues found:

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

I finally got that dreaded "Fan Error" at boot time on my T500.  After some research on this board, this is what I have concluded: 1-  hit Escape, and the machine will boot.  It can do a lot of stuff without a fan turning.  Gaming caused it to overheat.  Either the processor would slow down (by being intermittant) or you get the black screen of death. 2-  It is relatively easy to follow the Hardware Maintenence Manual and remove the fan and heatsink assembly.  Once the assembly is removed, pry open the fan, and remove the blades and clean and lubricate the shaft.  My fan restarted, and the Fan Error went away.  No need to replace the fan. 3-  Unfortunately the machine overheats now (black screen of death), even though the fan does operate.  I traced this to a too liberal application of the thermal joint compound.  Made the compound a very thin film, and that seems to have helped.  Also when replacing heat sink assembly and before bolting it, wiggle it while pressing on it so the thermal joint compound spreads itself at the surfaces of contact.  This seems to have helped. Anything else that you may want to add to this thread?

A:Fan Error Lenovo T500 T510 T400 T410 T60 T61 - rejuvinating the fan

I run into the similar problem here. But even after I clean the fan assembly, the 'fan error' message persists. In fact when the machine is powered up, the fan will run about 3 second, then stops. The sys. self test then reports the error. It is quite weird. The fan is apparently working. The online search does not return much useful info.Anyone likes to comment?

Hello, After upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 on Lenovo T410, when I try to use the camera I get the message on Windows Camera app: We can't find your camera - Error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00DABED). Also no other application (Skype, Yahoo, etc) can't find the camera, despite the fact that this is available without any error in Imaging Devices - Integrated Camera. What I tried by now:  - Stopped antivirus and firewall to exclude any possible blockage on that side - Uninstall/reinstall the driver in Device Manager (I downloaded the driver for Win10 from Lenovo Support site) - Run Windows Troubleshooter (no issue found) - uninstall Windows Camera app (WindowsPowershell) and reinstall it from the Store - checked all the camera settings and privacy settings (Settings-Privacy-Camera + Other Devices) - System scan (sfc /scannow). Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. - Latest Windows updates are installed Is there any compatibility issue between T410 and Windows 10? Can you help with any idea? I'm out of ideas. Please help!  P.S. After upgrade I also had issues with the microphone, but after I applied some fixes described here, I fixed it

Season's greetings to everyone. I have an interesting isssue with the power ON to my laptop and its operation via the docking station. It first started about a month ago. The only way the laptop will turn on is when it's attached to the docking station. The actual button on the laptop does not operate, the only way to turn on is via the docking station power button. I made an interesting discovery last night when I disconnected all cables, including the power cable to the docking station, attached the laptop and surprisingly I was able to turn the laptop ON. Again, via the docking station button and not the laptop button. If the laptop is already ON, and I disconnect it from the docking station then I'm able to use it normally. But, should I take a break from using it, and it goes into sleep mode and I try to re-start it, I have no success. The power light flashes slowly and no amount of pushing the button will either turn it ON nor turn it OFF. It almost feels like the button is not completing a circuit. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks to all. I'm running Windows 7 PRO
