What windows 8 camera app lets you pinch to zoom?

Q: What windows 8 camera app lets you pinch to zoom?

What camera app would you recommend?

What are the best free and nonfree camera apps?

Searched "windows 8 camera app with pinch to zoom" on google and haven't found it yet

Been lurking around the store. I did find some that let you pinch to zoom for attachable cameras to laptops like logitech's attachable camera.

I'm looking for a clampshell device with a camera on the back. If need be, I'll look at the android options but first I want to see if there are some good windows ones.

Preferred Solution: What windows 8 camera app lets you pinch to zoom?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I installed all drivers for the touchpad. No seeing any UltraNav software. And i don't find any settings to reduce the pinch zoom sensitivity (except enable/disable it).For now the sensitivity are too high, barely to make zooming on browser back to 100% (micrometer precision required) or google maps is zooming too fast. I know i can reset the zoom via keyboard but the annoying part is when I have 2 fingers on the touchpad to prepare the scrolling and it triggers the zooming.Device: X1 Extreme (20MF000XGE)So the question is: does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity just for the pinch zoom?

Hi our boss here has a Surface Pro 4 and mentioned his Pinch and Zoom on the touch screen isn't working any longer. He used to be able to open an Outlook message and he could pinch and zoom successfully using the touch screen. I know sometimes you actually do pinch and zoom on the touch pad. Is this even possible? The setting on the touch pad control panel is enabled and we are able to pinch and zoom on the pad but only in a browser, not within Outlook.

Does anyone know what to look at or check? thank you!

Hi everyone.

I've bought myself a new Dell Inspiron 7537. This is the first time I have a laptop with touchscreen.
I'm still trying to get use to it, and there's something I want to ask.
I've discovered that there are 2 types of pinch zoom.
- The first one is pinch zoom on the touch screen, which is really smooth and responsive. What it does is that it zooms the display .
- The second one is what I really hate, pinch zoom on the trackpad. The different is that this zooms the webpage and its data, it increases the font size of the text, pictures, every content of the webpage while trying to fit everything in the display. It has the same effect as Ctrl + and Ctrl - and it is very laggy!

So my question is: Is there a way to configure the trackpad pinchzoom so that will work just like touch screen pinch zoom?
I know the surface can do that since I've tried it in the store. Zooming with the trackpad on the type cover does the same as zooming on the touch display.
I've been searching everywhere on the internet but couldn't find any way to configure the trackpad pinch zoom. I really hope someone could help me. Thank you in advance.

You need to make those changes in the Control Panel under the Mouse setting. There should be a tab labeled "Device Settings", that you can use to change the advanced mouse settings. Basic computer 101.

Hi, Try the following. Hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run box type regedit and hit enter In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade If this is present, right click the key and select Modify Set the Value data field to 0 ( Zero ) and then click Ok. Close the Registry Editor. Make the Synaptics setting changes you require in the usual way and save them, then check if they're now retained after a reboot. Regards, DP-K

I am getting really annoyed! in Mouse and touchpad settings I don't want pinch and zoom enabled! So I disable it only to find out when I restart the computer, it has enabled itself again. I hate it as I keep rezing my desktop icons because of pinch and zoom. Does anyone know how to solve this please?

I saved a profile for my Mouse and Touchpad settings. But it still loads the default settings, that has pinch and zoom enabled. I have to Manually load my settings. Come on HP! Not good enough!!!

A:Pinch and Zoom keep resetting on HP Pavilion 15-ab045sa

I think I found a fix! After mucking around in the registry, trying all sorts of stuff, moving keys around, with some PARTIAL success but not totally satisfactory... something caught my eye...
Open up regedit.exe
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install
Note this is LOCAL MACHINE, not CURRENT USER.
Look for a key in that Install folder called DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade
Double click and change the value to 0
Now go back to the Synaptics control panel, set everything how you like, and reboot. See if it holds. It is holding on mine, still have to test on another computer.
So, this is a sign something weirder is going on behind the scenes, if the driver thinks it is "upgrading" after every reboot.... but anyway, if it works for now, good enough for me!

Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad and/or disable the zoom feature of the touchpad without disabling the touchpad entirely? Over the years, with my other laptop, I grew used to using my right hand to move the pointer while using my left hand to click my selection, so I often have both hands resting on the touchpad. It's second nature, and a hard habit to break. This is a problem on my Lenovo Edge 15 touchpad, because having my left hand anywhere near the touchpad while moving the pointer around with my right hand, I keep inadvertently activating the zoom in/out feature. I do rely on the touchpad quite a bit, so I don't want to turn it off, but the constant zooming issue is really affecting my productivity. Every minute or two, I'm having to stop and Ctrl+0 to get the screen back to normal magnification. I don't see a simple way to fix this in my mouse/touchpad settings. Thanks.

A:Touchpad Pinch Zoom Problem on Lenovo Edge 15

I hope you've figured this out by now and aren't still having this problem. I figured I'd post anyway in case other people are searching for an answer and having trouble finding it. The zoom was driving me insane also and I finally found an answer on another forum. I have a Lenovo G50, but it's likely the problems would be resolved similarly.  Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Mouse (or just search for "Mouse" in your Cortana search bar). Open Mouse Properties and navigate to the far right tab where your touchpad driver is listed, I'm assuming many of us Lenovo users have the same driver but mine is "Elan". Under where the device is listed there are buttons: Enable Device, Stop Device, Options. Or yours may say "Advanced Settings" instead of Options. Open Opions/Settings.  Find the Multi-Finger tab and location the Zooming option. Check the Disable button (or slow zoom rate if you prefer). Click Apply ...and it's fixed! I'm so much happier now that my screen isn't constantly zooming in and out. My left hand constantly bumps the touchpad and the zooming was NOT working for me.

Hello all! I own a recently purchased Acer E 15 laptop, and like many Windows 8.1 users, I'm very frustrated by the so-called "Precision" touchpad. The pinch-zoom function simply never works when you want it to, but it will suddenly zoom your screen to 300% when you're doing something else.I have been trying to turn pinch-zoom off, but none of the published solutions I've seen in this forum or elsewhere on the web seem to apply to my laptop. When I go into mouse management via the control panel, all I get is this window. I simply don't have the extra "Device Settings" tab shown in all the solutions I've seen. None of the tabs on the window displayed below seem to have any kind of checkbox to control pinch-zoom or any of the other "precision" features. It's the same on the "Mouse" window in the Modern/Touchscreen display. Nowhere do I seem to have the controls to turn pinch-zoom off.Can someone offer me a solution, please? The sudden zooming and unzooming is very annoying and disruptive to my work.Thank you! P.S.: The touchpad is often laggy too, and sometimes just freezes up. I tried downloading a touchpad driver from synaptics, but the dl failed to install on setup twice. I have a brand new Macbook Air that I installed Windows 10 on using Bootcamp and am having problems with the camera in Zoom (the camera works fine when I launch the camera app or Skype)

In zoom it just shows a black screen even though the light indicating the camera is working is on.

In Mac OS, the camera works fine for Zoom.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the camera, searched for drive updates, both Mac OS and Windows 10 are up to date. It's just Zoom that's the problem. I've uninstalled Zoom and reinstalled as well.

I'm not sure how to tell if this is a Win 10 issue or Mac OS?

Hey, they just released a new digital camera with 40x optical zoom! (drum-roll please!)

Just kidding! But now that I've got your attention... sorry, that was mean. But seriously, I've been wondering for a while now, why is it that 18x optical zoom is considered such a huge deal in a digital camera (by the way, I've only seen that much zoom in a mainstream camera once -- http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1289), when you won't have trouble finding a digital camcorder with 25x, 30x, 35x, or even 40x optical zoom?
How does it make any less sense or pose any more of a problem to put that kind of zoom in a still camera than to put it in a camcorder?

If you're as perplexed as I am, please, I need to know I'm not alone.

I recently had my little crappy 1.3mb DC3200 Kodak camera stolen and would like to get another camera but this time one that has focus and real zoom.

The thing is many of the digital cameras I've tried (especially kodak) have a tendance of making images WAY too light or way too dark, or way too much contrast. (I primarily take pictures of computers and components to sell on ebay)

What I'm looking for is a good quality older camera that has good lighting balance regardless of whether in macro or zoom mode and whether I use the flash or not, the number of MP isn't really relavent as I've found many times a so called hi res camera might be clear but if the lighting sucks the images turn out extremely dark or light making the extra res useless (as you can't hardly tell what you just took a pic of).

I would like to keep this under $100, in fact some of the old $20 720x512 line cameras have excellent picture quality, I just need to know which ones have the best lighting and color quality.

Thanx for any opinions

When talking about a digital camera, what is the difference between digital and optical zoom?
Is one better than the other?

A:Solved: Digital Camera zoom question

The more Optical zoom the better.
Digital zoom is the same as cropping the photo in your computer.
I never use Digital zoom ... But wait and do it in the computer later.

I am thinking of purchasing a Kodak EasyShare DX4900 Zoom Digital Camera and was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is a good camera. It is 4 megapixels and costs $400 US. I have not seen another 4 MP camera for that price. Also is there a way to use this type camera as a webcam?

A:Kodak EasyShare DX4900 Zoom Digital Camera

There are some considerations.

It has only a 2X optical zoom. Digital zoom is absolutely useless. You might as well not use it and crop the picture yourself as the result is the same. A 4Mp camera using a 3X digital zoom becomes a 1.33Mp camera. You are just cropping the picture in the camera, in effect not using half of the CCDs if you use 2X digital zoom..

You will need rechargeable batteries and a charger. It comes with a one use battery and it becomes pricey to replace them. This is true of most cameras in that price range.

Something that is true of all digital cameras is that you have to buy a bigger flash card. A 4Mp camera wants a 256Mb card if you can afford it but 128 will do. There is a big difference between cards so get back before you purchase one.

My main objection to the camera is that it is mainly point and shoot. One great advantage to digital is it is inexpensive to learn photography using one. You get instant feedback and you can just erase anything that doesnít work out. If you donít want to bother with that it does a good job as a point and shoot.

You can get either an Olympus D40 or a Minolta F100 for less than $400 including shipping. They would both also require a charger and larger card though, and the Olympus will take only a 128Mb card. They are both extremely small with 3X optical zooms and full controls. The Oly comes with a remote with sensors on both the front and back. I have been considering one as a carry around camera as my 5Mp is a l... Read more

My apologies for the rather long read but there is a bit of a story behind my problem that might be of use in figuring out what's wrong.

Okaaay so about a week ago my computer started randomly rebooting itself and steadily got worse as time went on. Backed up all my files to be safe, then tried system restore several times, going further and further back, as that has almost always fixed any problem in the past. Nooo good. So after trying a couple other things I decided to completely reinstall windows. Here's where it got weird. The setup would be nearly complete and then... reboot. Grrrrr. I tried this about twenty times, tried different settings in the BIOS, deleting partitions, reformatting, ...you name it I tried it. So eventually I tried putting in an older harddrive. Waddayaknow...it works. So I decide to go with that but then decide my other harddrive must just have a bad sector, seeing as it always got so far in setup before it died. So I put it in as a secondary harddrive and everything is working peachy as long as I'm putting windows and all drivers on the good harddrive.

Brand new squeeky clean Windows XP. So Internet Explorer has no problem working immediately, and I download Mozilla Firefox. Shortly after, the computer starts rebooting itself again. I uninstall and delete Firefox, and everything is fine again... for about ten minutes. At which time everything except Internet Explorer denies me access. I can't get into My Computer, any Programs, ... Read more

If you?re the unofficial ?tech support? for your family, a new feature hidden deep within Windows 10?s Anniversary Update should be welcome news. It?s called Quick Assist.

Anyone who works in the computer industry, or has a reputation for being technologically savvy, knows the sinking feeling that accompanies these words: ?So I bought a new computer.? Those six words inevitably mean you?re going to end up on a long telephone call trying to explain something like how to save a web document as a PDF, with each participant becoming more frustrated by the minute. Wouldn?t you just like to perform the task for them and be done with it?

Quick Assist makes that possible?and without the car ride.

For years, Microsoft added a feature called Remote Desktop to the Professional versions of Windows, and you could use either it, or a number of other third-party apps, to remotely control your PC. (Remote Desktop Connection is still part of Windows 10 Professional.) Windows Remote Assistance, which is what Quick Assist is based upon, has also appeared in previous versions of Windows.

Quick Assist can be slightly hard to find.

With Quick Assist, you?re not controlling your own PC from afar, but asking permission from another person to controltheir PC (or vice versa), and with the understanding that either party can disconnect the connection at any time. It can?t solve any hardware problems, like a mouse that?s out of batteries; however, it does al... Read more

Microsoft won't fix Windows flaw that lets hackers steal your username and password

The flaw wasn't considered a major issue until Windows 8 began allowing users to sign into their Microsoft accounts -- which links their Xbox, Hotmail and Outlook, Office, and Skype accounts, among others.
Overnight, the attack got larger in scope, and now it allows an attacker to conduct a full takeover of a Microsoft account. The flaw works because Internet Explorer and Edge (on Windows 10) allow a user to access local network shares but don't fully block connections to remote shares.

There's a simple mitigation, according to the group. Don't use Internet Explorer, Edge, or Microsoft Outlook, and don't log in to Windows with a Microsoft account.

I refuse to use IE or Edge. Windows 10 Cortana forces users to use Edge so there is no way to avoid Edge when doing searches.

I just removed the "IDPINCH TROJAN" using Spy Sweeper. According to Webroot, the maker of spy sweeper, it is rated very high, see this: http://research.spysweeper.com/sear...14&lang=en&loc=USA&category=Trojan Horse&rc=1

My Question is, I have a router, that comes in with one I. P. Address, and goes out with another I. P. Address, shouldn't this router stop this trojan spyware from going out to it's owner, or giving the owner control over anyone's computer?

Please explain the router's purpose if it isn't to stop this kind of things.

Thanks
Silverado...

The problem happens in both windows store apps and .exe programs. Camera doesn't work in Chrome, Edge,Skype(both store and .exe). I recently gave my laptop in for servicing at an authorized service center(Just a speaker issue). Could it be that they could have unplugged the camera cable? I also saw a post referring to the same laptop but in that post only store apps had this problem. Already tried reinstalling driver, enabling permissions etc. If I remember correctly this problem started after the fall creators update. When the camera is used the white led does blink, even though an image doesn't show. Please help me with this.

Hi, and welcome to TSF, we need more info than that. What is the make and model number of your computer, have you checked in device manager for any error flags, either a yellow ! or red X, have you tried reinstalling the web cam software or driver.

One day I realized I had lost pinch and scroll functions on my touch pad. Don't know why.
So I tried to install a Synaptics touch pad Driver. This provided the missing functions but the Cursor got delayed and the sensitivity of the touch pad was restricted to a certain spot. Therefore I de-installed the Synaptic Driver again.
The sensitivity issued got cured but I still had no pinch and scroll function on the touch pad.
Therefore I went to the Toshiba download site and learned that the ALPS Driver was the original Driver.
I tried to install this Driver (as requested for 64 bits).
The installation seemed to pass smoothly. After re-starting there is still no pinch and scroll functionality and nowhere the driver is found neither in the programs list nor added to the "mouse" Screen in the System functions Folder.

How can I get that pinch, zoom and scroll functions back to my touch pad?

This sounds like program interference, you will need to perform a clean boot and disable firewall and antivirus and then try and install the driver. Here is a description on how to perform a clean boot, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
