Q: X220 & Windows 10: no bluetooth

Hi,
My x220 has bluetooth hardware and it worked in windowns 8. It looks like lenovo did not update the drive because now it is not detected in windowns 10. I really need bluetooth. What can you do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings folks,  I would like to seek your prompt support to resolve my technical issue as I upgraded the Operating System of my laptop Lenovo X220 from Windows 7 to 10. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the Bluetooth driver on my computer, so I communicated this issue to Microsoft. They just told me that Lenovo has apparently not yet released a Bluetooth Driver for Win 10. Please advise.!! Regards,

I noticed that the Intel Centrino N1000 in my X220 does not do Bluetooth so this means my rig has a separate solution. So I was wondering, once I get a witelist free BIOS, what options can I use to modernize my machine? The latest is Bluetooth 5 and there are not even any USB models on the street yet.

I have an x220, Windows 7 Premium. It does not have a Bluetooth radio function; it does however have Bluetooth in the Control Panel and as a File transfer utility in Windows accessories - I don't know what that means. Does it mean I can Bluetooth stream files from the X220 to another Bluetooth equipped machine? Thanks very much.

The x220 has blluetooth 3 which is obsolete, it was when the machine was delivered, so much for this year's tech so new wi-fi cards have bluetooth 4 or even 4 so if I disable the bluetooth in the BIOS it also disables the wi-fi card too, so any suggestions on how to get rid of the problem? I tried removing the daughter board, that did not work out well, this is one of many headaches I will be criticising lenovo for on my website

I ordered my X220 with Bluetooth 3.0 and it is listed in the order sheet. I am now trying to use it for the first time to connect a Bluetooth mouse, but having no success. In fact, I can't find Bluetooth anywhere in the system. There is no Bluetooth in the Control Panel and I can't find it in the Device Manager. I tried installing the 6.4.0.1500 Bluetooth device drivers from the Lenovo website. Apparently it was already installed and it asked if I wanted to do a repair installation. I selected repair installation but at the end it reported "No Bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue". Is it missing from my X220? Is there something to enable in the BIOS (I can't find anything)? Richard BTW, my system is type 4286-CTO according to ThinkVantage Tools and the sticker on the laptop. When I go to Download Drivers & Software on the Lenovo site and use Run Auto-Detect, it displays "ThinkPad X220i (4286-CTO)" (it should be X220 not X220i). If I manually select the system instead of using auto-detect, under X220 I can select 4286 but CTO is not listed.

Is your Bluetooth LED on?  It's the second one from the left, next to the WLAN LED. You can activate Bluetooth by pressing Fn + F5.

Hello,I own a stock x220 with an i7.I would like to use the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth mouse. A:X220: connecting a bluetooth 4.0 mouse

Hello,
According to the X220's hardware maintenance manual, the ThinkPad X220 contains a Bluetooth Daughter Card BDC-2.1, with FRU# (part#) of 60Y3271 or 60Y3275.  Searching on those FRU numbers reveals this page on the independent ThinkWiki site which says those cards are Bluetooth 3.0.  It also mentions that the part is likely to be swappable with a new Bluetooth 4.0 BDC card.

From looking at the details [age for the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse, it mentions Bluetooth Smart/Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility and specifically says "Bluetooth 4. enabled devices" in the System Requirements.

It is still possible that the mouse will work with the older Bluetooth 3.0 card, but just consume more power.  Or, you may need to replace the Bluetooth Daughter Card inside the X220 or use an external Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter with it.  It would probably be best to check with Microsoft for an authoritative answer.

Anyone else encountered and solved this problem? I upgraded about 2.5 weeks ago and have looked everywhere for a solution. I finally got the wireless radio settings to apear when I press Fn+F5 but no bluetooth option exists. Today when I decided I had wasted enough time and tried to go back to Windows 7, it won't let me even though I still have Windows.old and it is whin the 30 day window. I feel stuck. I like Windows 10 but not having bluetooth makes me wish I would have left well enough alone and stayed with Windows 7. Anyone have a fix for either of these problems?

I want to play music on my mobile phone but listen the sound on my E5450 laptop, using bluetooth (not other methods)
I have paired the device with the laptop, but I see no options in Windows about what bluetooth services is Windows offering to paired devices.
The laptop is using latest Intel bluetooth driver for the device that appears in device manager with name "Intel Wireless Bluetooth", with these hardware ids:
USB\VID_8087&PID_0A2B&REV_0001
There is a "bluetooth headset service" on windows with start type manual, I've started hoping it would allow phone to "see" the laptop as a bluetooth audio headset but no change.
I remember old Windows had a "Services" tab sheet on the bluetooth settings but on my W10 is gone.
Is this gone for good from Windows 10, or only on my laptop? Using latest released windows version.

A:How to view/enable bluetooth services (bluetooth windows service is already working) on E5450 with Windows 10?

I?m not sure where to find that info, but streaming audio from your phone to the PC would require that the PC act as an A2DP target, and to my knowledge Windows only acts as an A2DP source.

Hi everyone,

Just made an account for this.

I have also tried changin the BIOS settings, to no avail. Tried to disable the SATA from the boot as on the Thinkwiki it states that it works only if you do that. Did not work.

Tried to check if I could install a 32bit system but the same thing happened. I am unable to move further than the windows logo, it simply restarts and begins again.

So basically i'm trying to figure out why the same game in windows store, will overclock and overheat the CPU on the X220 with Windows 10, at +3.07 ghz .... but on the T520 with Windows 8, the same game runs at -1.95 ghz. the t520 has an i5-2520m and the x220 has i5-2540m .... so if anything, it should run LESS hard on the x220.  but instead it overheats it ........ and appears that something in the Windows 10 build allows programs to overclock the CPU more. i've tried installing older versions of direct x.... thinking maybe it's a 3d problem.  i've used the windows power manager to limit CPU to 75% .... which then still overheats the CPU but keeps the clock at a constant 2.36 ghz.which is still having it work harder than the very same game from the windows store on the Windows 8 set up.it is something with Windows 10 specifically that allows overheating of the CPU.  btw there is absolutely no difference in the game speed itself.  it runs cool on 8, runs hot on 10. and the windows 10 system on the X220 feels unstable because of this.  it will run completely cool for a flash video, but then jack up the heat running a local mp4 file.the only answer i have is to abandon Windows 10 and tell everyone i know to do the same.  to NOT upgrade if it can be avoided.  because there is no sense in upgrading software to extend the lifetime of a machine, if the software itself DECREASES the lifetime of the hardware.if there is a driver or sp... A:Windows 10 overheats X220

well windows 10 has issues with diffirent old laptops thats why you shall follow recommendations by manufacture not what microsofts says, their tool only regonizes if you got required os to upgrade so thats not proper thing :/ check X220 drivers section if that section do not have windows 10 listed then it's mostlikely that x220 wont support windows 10 so installing or upgrading to it will be "Do it at your own risk" since any issues that comes will not be supported by Lenovo since they do not support windows 10 on models that don't have windows 10 listed in their drivers area. One good thing lenovo should do is create a list with all tested laptops and confirmed that lenovo offers windows 10 support for them. Acer did this to their laptops they created a huge list of all models that supports & is tested by manufacture to gurantee it will support windows 10

Hey guys!

Wondering if anyone else is having similiar issues...

Recently installed windows 10 (64bit) on my x220 (core i5 @2.6, 4gb ram.) With all the headaces I might be going back to win 7 pretty soon...

First, my wifi keeps dropping about every 10 minutes. Only way to get it working again is if I restart the computer. I've tried several different drivers, all which are doing the same.

My sound is skipping/lagging every few seconds. Its horrible... I've tried so many different drivers its insane, same problem.

Maybe every half hour the desktop will lock and nothing works for a few minutes. Also I cant get access to the task manager during this time.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any or all of these problems, and if there was any solution found? I'm hoping I can get this working normal so I wont have to revert back to win 7, kind of like the new features.

Thanks!

I have problem with X220 + Win10 aswell.I was not able to install until I found out that the BIOS setting of X220 default of UEFI/Legacy Boot priority is Legacy. But that makes the installer freeze at boot up. I have changed it to UEFI to get the installer working. But now I have problem booting X220 without Ultrabay. When I remove the Ultrabay, stacks at boot up right after the blue Windows logo. Ultrabay has a HDD inside, maybe something is wrong in the boot script....But beside that I do not have any problem like you. You never had any problem installing W10?before you go back to Win7, write down your W10 product key.you can see it with windows productkey viewer like this one:http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/winproductkey/so you can clean install from ISO file next time.I'm on i7, 16gb, mSATA SSD+ SATA SSD.

Ever since then when I reinstalled windows 7 I have had this issue. I cant work with a pc that doesn't update... Any tips greatly appreciated. Brad

First of all, so far as I know, my upgrade to Windows 10 worked very well and I really like the new OS. The only problem I'm having is that my mic won't work. It shows it as being installed and functioning properly but I can't utilize it anywhere in the system. The driver is the Contexant 20672 SmartAudio HD.  When I go to "Set up a microphone" is says "The wizard could not start. Make sure your hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel." My mic is enabled and the volume is up. Any ideas?

HiWhile there is an issue with Conexant drivers for win10, probably the fastest way is to use Dolby Home Theatre 4 application. It supports Conexant audio chip and works w/o manufacturer drivers.DHT could be found on the Lenovo support site since a lot of laptops has that app preloaded. Also, there are threads on the forum about DHT and presets for certain laptop models and audio chip. Note, I don't know anything whether DHT supports win10.

A:Windows 10 support for X220 Tablet

Hello,

It may work fine with Windows 10, however, I don't believe its generation of CPU, IGP and chipset are supported by Intel for Windows 10, which means that Lenovo can't support them, either.  For what it is worth, I installed Windows 10 on a ThinkPad X61t and didn't notice any issues, and that has been out of support for a much longer time than your X220t.

That said, it could be that Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 drivers for the various bits of silicon inside your X220 tablet may work just fine under Windows 10, in which case you would be up and running.

The best suggestion I have is to make a thorough backup of your X220 and then try applying the Windows 10 Upgrade.  If it doesn't work, you will be able to wipe the drive and then reload your backup.

Hello. I could not find any answers to this question, so I'm posting new. Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere and I couldn't find it.

I'm running an X220 Thinkpad and I recently made the switch from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro.  I use my trackpoint a lot.  Under Windows 7, occasionally for reasons I never understood a trackpoint feature that was called 'Press-to-Select' in the Mouse Control panel would enable whereby pressing on the trackpoint would cause it to act like clicking a mouse button. I hated that feature - especially when it would get hypersensitive and cause the mouse to click and jump all over my screen - and under Windows 7 I used to know where to go to disable 'Press-to-Select' after it myseteriously enabled itself.

Since switching to Windows 10, 'Press-to-Select' seems to be permanently on, in a very annoying hyper-sensitive way.  However, whereas I used to be able to go and turn it off in Windows 7, now when I go into the Mouse section of the control panel I no longer see any reference to 'Press-to-Select' being enabled or disabled.

Please, someone, help me disable Press-to-Select for my trackpoint under Windows 10.  What changed?

A:X220 - How can I disable "press-to-select" in Windows 10

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I don't have a X220 to give it a try, but on the Trackpoint drivers the "press to select" options was on "Control Panel - Mouse" and select the "Trackpoint tab" to check for the options.

Also e check that on your X220 you have the trackpoint driver installed. You can check the Thinkpad X220 support site and download the latest Synaptics drivers for Windows 10.

Give it a try to see if you find it.

Dear Ladies and Gents,I've decided to buy my x220 company notebook, and make some upgrades on it. I installed the latest BIOS version. I bought a Transcend MSA370 mSATA SSD module, and replaced the integrated WWAN card with it. The concept was , that I keep the original 320GB hard drive for storage and install a Windows 10 Pro OS on the SSD card. So far so good, everything went fine, I had some issues setting up the hotkeys, but managed to do so. But then, I realized, that I can't make the integrated camera work. I pressed FN+F6, but no camera options showed, only audio and microphone settings. I checked the BIOS settings, the camera is enabled. I even tried to install the camera drivers for Windows 7 (no later version on support site), but it had no effect. Then I checked the Device Manager and saw that the camera does not even show up there (no "Imaging Devices" block, no wonder the driver install didn't do anything). I started googling and found some people who said they managed to solve this problem, but the solution had to do something with installing the OS on the original hard drive, and do some more magic, but to tell You the truth it wasn't so convincing, seemed like solution by lucky guesses. Does anyone have any idea about the source of the problem, and how to get the cam working? Or at least "seen" by the OS?thanks in advance,gábor

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 running Windows 7, and I've had it for about two years now. It worked fine up until this morning and now immediately turns off even if it is tilts slightly. When I say it turns off immediately, I mean it's like the battery has been taken out. Sometimes static will appear momentarily on screen before it turns off, and other times it won't turn off, but the entire screen just stays frozen. Also, now when I try to access websites like Facebook or Google which would normally be okay, I get a message saying that the website's security certificate is not trusted. I feel like doing a system restore would help, but since I got the laptop from school I don't have administrator privileges and cannot do so.

Below are my laptop's specs. Honestly I have no idea whether this is a hardware or software problem. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong or knows of any way to fix this, your help is much appreciated.

A few days ago I finally upgraded my X220 from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. However I've discovered to features have gone missing, which really bugs me. First the battery gauge is gone. Google and tried most of suggestion I've found but without any luck. Second the WiDi (Wireless Display) has also been removed. Both features are strongly missed as I use them more or less on a daily basis. Has anyone found a working solution to any or both of them? If so please advise

Hi,I have a Thinkpad X220 running Windows 7 Enterprise (got it through my school with it installed). I've now graduated and the activation key has expired so I'm looking to upgrade to Windows 10 home. I created a bootable USB using Microsoft's tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10). When I F12 BIOS to select a boot device, the USB that is plugged in is titled "Generic USB HDD". When I select it an error is thrown. I took a picture of the error screen below. I then entered BIOS and changed the boot order so that the USB is first. I restarted and it brought up the same error message. I also tried the other USB ports on the computer and it still didn't work. Finally, I also updated the BIOS to the latest version that Lenovo Update offered and it still didn't work.  I also put a picture of my BIOS startup settings.  Please help! Error screen

I did not erase the fingerprint memory, i can use the fingerprint reader to get access to the bios. When i try to access windows and the fingerprint reader, it wil not recognise my fingerprint, i get a Lenovo pop up box, username (not able to change this) is lenovo and i have to type a password. No password i normally use wil work Bios file used : 8duj29us.iso , BIOS version: 8DET74WW (1.44) I ame able to load Lenovo Diagnostics, no hardware problems. I need some help here

I ran into a problem with Hotkey Features Integration package on Windows 7. TPONSCR.EXE sometimes starts to consume 50% of CPU. It happens completly randomly. Sometimes it happens when I log on and sometimes when I am normally using the laptop.  I had recorded some information using Sysinternals Process Monitor when it happened again (see attached screenshot). According to that, TPONSCR.EXE goes to infinit loop accessing some registry keys: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\LENOVO.MICMUTE\Parameters or in other case: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LENOVO.CAMMUTE\Parameters  Laptop is Thinkpad X220, OS is Windows 7. Hotkey Features Integration version is 8.86.25 (07 Dec 2017). All other Lenovo utilities are also have latest versions. I also tried to install older versions of Hotkey Features Integration package, but the issue appeared even more frequently with older versions.

I see from this forum that others have successfully installed Windows 10 in the past on x220, but I'm now unable to complete a fresh install (starting from an external USB drive). The install process frequently crashes; sometimes I get to the point where the install from the external disk works and I'm rebooting into the internal drive, but I've never gotten as far as a login screen. I frequently get a "Memory Management Stop" BSOD or just reboots. I understand if I can get into a fully booted system, I could then install Lenovo drivers and perhaps get a workable system, but since I can never complete the install process, I don't have this option. Any ideas for how I can get through enough of an install to get this laptop working again?

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

WE NEED AT LEAST TWO DMP FILES TO SPOT TRENDS AND CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.
If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are if you dont know if you are, you are not)a

Spoiler (Highlight to read)IMPORTANT!!IMPORTANT!!Friends from Lenovo,Yesterday I did the update to the new version of Windows 10, called Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or Windows 10, version 1709, and after the update was done I find out that the hotkey driver, that controls the Fn commands on the keyboard of my Lenovo ThinkPad X220, doesn`t work correctly with this new version of Windows 10. Therefore, I would like to know what can I do to fix this issue, so the hotkey commands work properly again in my notebook, or if it is going to be an update of this file (8jvu43ww.exe) that I could install in my notebook to fix this issue. Could you please tell me what can I do to make the Fn commands work properly with the new update of Windows 10 (Windows 10 Fall Creators Update) or if it is going to be an update of the hotkeys that is compatible with the new version of Windows 10?I look forward to hear your comments, and I hope you already have an idea, an answer to solve this issue. Yours truly,Cristián Palau
