HP 625 Notebook SC Card Reader Drivers

Q: HP 625 Notebook SC Card Reader Drivers

Hi, I have an HP 625 Notebook PC, with an SD card reader on the front edge, however I can't find the drivers anywhere. I've tried inserting an SD card which is known to be working, but nothing is being detected in Windows. Does anyone know where I can obtain the required drivers? ThanksMark

Preferred Solution: HP 625 Notebook SC Card Reader Drivers

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I've just updated my parents machine from Windows Vista to Windows 7. They are running a Sony Vaio, model VGC-LS20E. This model computer has a built in card reader, however this card reader is not functioning with the new install. I thought I'd just need to get some drivers, but after about an hour or so of searching, I haven't been able to find any.

Maybe someone out there knows off hand where I can get some drivers? Or something else entirely that I could try to get this card reader to work?

Thanks so much!

I've got a couple different CAC readers which I'd use to access various USAF web pages; however, I can't get Vista 64 to actually install them. I plug in the reader and Vista can't find the drivers. I have a disk with the drivers, and even when I guide Vista to the exact location of the driver folder, it claims there are no drivers and cannot install. Anybody had any luck getting Vista 64 to install smart card reader drivers? Thanks!

A:CAC reader drivers? (smart card)

Hello msdunkel,
i dont have anything to do with smart cards but i found this on another site, i dont know if it will solve your problem but give it a go, would you please post your results, good luck.

Something new with Vista... It operates a lot like Windows Server 2003/2008. To get the card reader going you should go to the "Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Services" and scroll down to "Smart Card". Make sure that it is started. Set it to "Automatic" in it's properties. Smart card use is not always automatic granted for users in Server or Vista

Greetings Techspotters,

When you try to find a driver file for a video card on a laptop/notebook computer at http://www.ati.com/, you are greeted with this message -

"You MUST use the drivers supplied with your laptop or notebook computer, or obtain a driver update from the manufacturer of your laptop or notebook computer."

Does anyone know why ATI doesn't provide the drivers from its site?

A:Laptop/notebook video-card drivers

Perhaps it is because of the tight intergration into the rest of the laptop chipset, (for example some chips share memory), and so ATi are unable to make a driver that would be compatible with all laptops.

What laptop do you have ?

Hey everyone. I am having trouble with my Multi-Card Reader/SD Card Reader. I am trying to take pictures off of my SD card and put them on my computer. I have lost my USB cord for the camera and can't locate it at this time or I would do that.

So anyway, I put the card in the SD card drive and the green light does not come on. I then open up My Computer and the drive isn't even listed. I checked in Device Manager as well and as far as I know, it is not listed in there either. If it is, then it is under a name that I don't recognize.

So anyway, I would greatly appreciate some help in getting my computer to recognize my Multi-Card Reader/SD Card Reader.

Also, I tried these things from my Standard Account.

Hello, I have a question about SD Card Readers. I have one where you insert the SD Card, and plug in a USB cable to connect it to the computer. Does the SD Card use a USB Root Hub to connect, or does it use the Realtek 2.0 Card Reader?

My real question is, if I had accidentally uninstalled my Realtek 2.0 Card Reader built into the computer, will an SD Card Reader connected by USB be able to read the SD Cards?

Also, is there a way I can prevent SD cards from being read through a reader on my computer without uninstalling a USB Hub Driver? Like specifically prevent new Drivers from being installed, or prevent new SD Cards from being recognized? Such as using a free downloadable tool that someone may know about.

I have tried going to Devices and Printers, right clicking on my PC, Device Installation Settings, then turning off automatic driver installs. After I do that, and plug in a new device, it still auto installs the drivers and can use it.

A:Does an SD Card Reader need the Realtek 2.0 Card Reader Driver?

Disable the driver, through Device Manager.

Windows 7 SP2 Intel desktop PC.
I have a weird 3? slot internal USB card reader problem.
All SD and mSD cards (last with adapter) are recognized normally as storage devices except one Sandisk Extreme Pro 8GB micro SD, which worked normally until 2 weeks ago but still works normally with other external USB card reader.
With internal USB reader all SD cards used to be drive L: and still are L:, except this Sandisk Pro.
When this Sandisk mSd card is inserted nothing happens and looks like Windows considers it as nothing or something else but not a storage device.
Nor computer storage manager doesn't see it in internal card reader.

But when I use external card reader, this Sandisk SD card works normally and is given a letter S:.

It looks like some kind registry numerator of USB devices has listed this SD card ID as not storage device.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

A:SD card stopped working in old reader while reader and card are OK

If it were in the registry as not a valid device, it wouldn't work from the external reader, either. I would check to make sure that you don't have dirty contacts in the internal reader. Sometimes dust can get in there and raise havoc, especially on some SD cards which have more active contacts than others. One dirty contact can make one card not work, while other, low density cards, will.

I have thinkpad w530 w windows 8.1 I am trying to capture video footage into my computer using a firewire card that of course plugs into the MEDIA CARD READER SLOT. I can't get the computer to recognize my camcorder- the camcorder connection does not show up in DEVICE MANAGER I am using HDVSPLIT to capture the video and also in hdvsplit there is a message, "camera not recognized" or something like that.  I am not sure if the media card reader is bad, or maybe the firewire card is bad or maybe it is the hdv split that is the problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

A:How do I tell if my Media Card Reader/Express card slot is functioning correctly?

Could it be the ExpressCard slot that the FireWire card plugs into?  I've never seen a FireWire card that plugs into the media card slot used for SD Cards.
FireWire cards can be a little tricky to get working sometimes, especially when interfacing with a camcorder.
Have you checked with the manufacturer to see if Windows 8.1 drivers are available for it?  Even if they are not, it may be possible to use Windows 7 or even Windows Vista drivers.
Once you have verified that the FireWire card is recognized, plug the camcorder in again, amd see if it gets recognized.  If it does not, check with its manufacturer for Windows 8.1 drivers, just like you did with the FireWire card.
At that point, the hardware should all be working with Windows 8.1.

• supports 3.3V/5V 16-bit PCMCIA cards

• works with Windows OS’s

@YoannFromParis, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  When dealing with the issues from doing an update to Windows 10 there are a few things that may work to fix the issue. First thing to try is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. The next step is to run the HP BIOS recovery to reload the BIOS to see if it will sync up with the operating system. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS And if this fails to fix the problem, if you did the update to Windows 10 you can do the stand alone installation to see if it fixes any conflict. Download Windows 10 The other option is to roll back to the previous operating system until new updates get released by Microsoft and then uploaded on the HP support page for your notebook. Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

A:Satellite Pro L770-144: Win 8 card reader doesn't recogize SD card

First question:
Is card reader recognized in the device manager properly?
If its not recognized, then you used a wrong driver.

If its recognized, the driver has been installed properly and there is another reason why SD cards cannot be used.

As far as I know the card reader of Satellite Pro L770 handles different kind of cards and different sizes.
Memory Stick: 128MB-256MB
Memory Stick Pro: 512MB-2GB
xD Card: No
mini SD: 8MB-2GB
micro SD: 8MB-2GB
CompactFlash: No
SmartMedia: No

As you can see supported SD cards: 8MB ? 2GB
It seems bigger SD cards are NOT supported.

Microsoft assured me that my Windows 7 laptop (Latitude E6510) was ready to upgrade to Windows 10.  In a way, it was... but only after I upgraded did I see Dell's caution that this model was not verified to work 100% with Windows 10.
Almost everything works (sound didn't work initially, but I found a fix online that helped), but clearly new drivers are required which recognize and drive the PC Card reader, the SD card reader, and even the CD/DVD drive.  The CD drive won't even open when pressed, nor is it recognized as a drive by Windows 10.
Yes, these inputs can all be accessed via external USB drives,  but please provide new drivers, Dell.  For those with this model on the fence about upgrading, determine how much you need these built-in readers/drive!

A:Latitude E6510: Windows 10 works, but not CD/PC card/SD card reader

I've just upgraded my Latitude E6510 to windows 10. Most of the drivers refuse to run as they cant recognise W10 OS. I suggest anyone thinking of the upgrade not to at this stage. The Dell Driver downloads area warns of this.
Right now I have a non working keyboard, mouse pad, backlight. My biggest concern is the Nvidea graphics drivers wont install so I have fuzzy text with some of my programs (not all).
I am surprised MS allowed me to download W10?? I'm going to waste another day trying to fix this up or I'm going to have to reinstall W7. Very unproductive-not happy

I have a few questions about SD memory cards, card readers, and pixels/resolution.
1. What are all the advantages of a card reader if my computer already has the camera driver?
The ones I know are:
A. save batteries,
B. way to download images without the driver,
C. If travelling without my computer, I could download images using another computer such as an internet cafe, etc.
Are all these correct? are there any more reasons to have a card reader? any disadvantages? Is it ok to buy a card reader on Ebay(any compatibility problems getting a reader to match my camera/Vivitar 3315 which uses SD memory card)?
2. My camera uses an SD memory card. Is it OK to buy one of these on Ebay? There are some for sale that are not in the original package, suggesting it is possibly used. What is the "life" of an SD card? Can they wear out, get corrupt, etc?
3. Somone told me that pixels and resolution were the same...or somewhat the same. My camera has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024. I was told that the 1280 is really 1.280 which is where the 1.3 pixels of the camera comes from. Is this correct? I have tried two Vivitar cameras. Trying to get it out pushed it waaay further in, and I don't know if i'll be able to get it out at all now. I need help! What should I do? =(

(sorry if this is the wrong place, mods please move it to the correct place if i got it wrong)

I am running XP with SP 2 (installed OK after I turned off AVG and ZA).
I have a Nikon Coolpix 3200 digital camera and a San Disk 128mb SD card. I have installed the Nikon software without difficulty. My PC has a 'card reader' slot on the front along with the USB ports. When I put the sd card in the reader and try to transfer the images the Nikon software tells me that 'there is no memory card in the connected camera or the card reader'. The sd card does not show up in the 'removable storage' on 'My Computer'. I have not been able to locate the card reader in 'device manager', although I am not really sure what to look for!
There is not any problem transferring the images via the USB cable so the problem does not seem to be with the sd card. The forum on the fujitsu (my PC is a fujitsu) site is not currently up and running due to maintenance and the instructions supplied with the PC are not any help.
Any ideas on how to get the card reader working or how to check that it is ok? Thank you

I have aLexmark memory card reader that I use with my memomry cards for my digital cameras. I just bought a new M 1G FujiFilm xD card. It said on the package that it is compatible with most cameras, and I didn't give it much thought since I have a Fuji camera.

Well, today I put the card in the reader and it won't read the card. Is there a way to chance properties of the reader so it can read it, or do I need a newer memory card reader because of the new "M" thing? If I need a new one, does anyone have any suggestions on which readers work with the newer cards? Thanks

I have had this problem for a long time.  Just now getting around to fixing it.  I have been using an external USB reader to read the SD card which works fine. When I put the SD card into the computers onboard opening the computer tells me that I must first format the card.  Its already formatted with data on it.  So I decline to format it.  MY COMPUTER recognizes it as in DRIVE F-so it is seeing it. I am open for any ideas as to whats wrong and how to fix the problem.  Thanks for your help.
