I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Today I replaced a broken screen hinge on my Yoga 15 but after reassembly the device does not switch on anymore. When I hit the power button the i LED on the ThinkPad logo comes on for about 3 seconds, no activity on screen or fan and then switches off again. When I plug in the power the i LED flashes twice and the third blink is cut short (like 2 1/2 blinks). I have already tried the following things  - unplugging AC, battery and CMOS battery (with 60+ seconds pwr button hold thereafter) - unplugging and replugging HDD, SSD, RAM banks, screen connectors coming from left and right hinge - holding pwr button with battery and/or AC for 60+ seconds - pressing pwr 10 times in rapid succession before press/holding for 60 seconds I'm at a loss what else I could try or what I could have possibly done wrong during the hinge replacement. Any advice is desparately welcome Andy

Hello,
we are experiencing the problem that after our Windows 7 clients got updated with KB3087038 that after a user is logging in (we are using mandatory profiles), Internet Explorer
11 is not starting the first time a user is clicking on the IE11 link.
Starting IE 11 shows the IE window with the loading circle in front of the IE window, just to close immediately after a few seconds. This is happening irregular, not on every first
start of Internet Explorer.
On subsequent starts of IE11 within the
same user session IE is starting without a problem.
It took us several days to enclose the problem.

As our clients get their updates at different times (depending on their group membership) we saw this behavior on each client after update KB3087038 was installed (source: internal WSUS server).
Our systems:
- Domain based network
- W2K8 R2 SP1 Servers
- Windows 7 SP1 x64 clients
- Office 2010
- IE 11
- Mandatory profiles
- Proxy Server - Internet traffic filtered by an proxy server.

Thank you in advance.

My relatively new Yoga 3 Pro (4 months old) inbuild screen goes blacl/turns off after 30 seconds unless I am activity typing or moving the mouse around.  The screen still seems to be on and I can see the back-light but the screen is completely black.  I have to hit a key or click the trackpad for it to come back on.  This happens no mattter what program/app I am using or even if I am just displaying the desktop.  It will even happen when viewing youtube videos or reading a pdf.   While I have not tried it, I am pretty sure it it will do this when doing a presentation unless I move through the slides within 30 seconds.  I have adjuster the timer for the screen to turn off in Power & System settings (tried everything from 2 min to never for both battery and plugged-in) and have disabled Harmony Paper Display (using the Fn+Esc)  with no effect.   The screen just goes black after 30 seconds no matter what I do.  Does anyone know how to stop this from happening. This is really annoying and pretty much makes the computer useless for work.

A:Yoga 3 Pro screen turn off after 30 seconds

Did you ever find a solution to this?  I have the same thing happening and nothing I do in the power settings make any difference.  It happens to laptop display or if I am plugged into an external monitor.

Hello,I have a very annoying problem with my 260 yoga. It randomly, but very often, happens that my screen freezes for a few seconds. But in the background the yoga works normally (for example while it hangs i press the start button and after a few seconds it stops to hang and the start menu is there. it opens it while the screen is frozen not after it !) This is very annoying while working with the laptop and makes it nearly impossible. the cursor hangs so often its terrible. What I already did:-clean installation of windows 10 (formatting the ssd and installation from usb drive)-newest drivers through the system update software-newest bios-i tried intel graphics drivers directly from intel as well. i tried to open the taskmanager and watch the tasks when it hangs but it doesnt hang when the taskmanager is open for sure.. In the lenovo solution center hardwarescan i have no problems.Once there was a problem with the short smart-selftest but i did the test again and the problem was gone. What can i do to solve this problem? Greetings

I had previously hooked this up to my big screen via the hdmi.  The next morning I went to turn it on and got nothing.  Holding the power button down with power plugged in, not plugged in any combination for 1 - 120 seconds produces the same exact result.  The little light on the " i " lights up for exactly 4 seconds and then nothing.  I have tried a different power cord and get the exact same result.  I have tried using the emergency reset with a needle on the back of the device...same result. Any help would be great.

A:Yoga won't boot. Red light comes on for 4 seconds no blink.

Can you clarify when you say it "lights up for exactly 4 seconds", is it a solid light or a blinking light?

Hey there, everyone.I've got this 2 year old ThinkPad Yoga 12 that was working fine one day, and then won't boot at all the next. No screen activity, no backlight on keyboard, nothing except for a solid light on the "i" and then nothing. I've tried taking out both batteries, I've tried all kinds of combos of power button pushing, and I tried the reset switch. That caused the light to blink three times and now it's not doing anything. It does blink when I put the power cord in. Is my mobo borked, or is there something I haven't tried? Thank you!!!

Hello World.   I'm not able to power up a Yoga Ideapad 15.  When I press the power button, its led starts blinking, in synchonicity with the power light indicator, making a short blink every almost 5 seconds.   I've dissasemblied it. Fan cooler tries to start, but suddenly stops. This issue repeats every 5 seconds, same time as the laptop blinks.  I've tried common steps (like keeping the power button pressed with no battery and no charger). So, if anyone has a possible solution, I'll appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!

Over the past few weeks I've noticed that when I launch programs (no matter what it is) it takes about 5 seconds to appear. For example, I use VLC media player for videos; music; etc. If I launch it (whether just the program or directly via a file) it won't appear for a few seconds. I don't have any performance issues or anything after the program starts; it's like it waits a few seconds before doing anything. I have a 512GB SSD too. I've run disk cleanup; other scans; etc but so far nothing has worked. I'd rather not have to wipe the drive just yet, so do any of you all have any other suggestions as to what could be causing this issue?

A:Programs Take a Few Seconds to Start

Sounds like housekeeping and that there may be a back end malware scan going on if you are running any kind of Security Software. What mfg and model is the SSD? Did you disable Prefetch and Superfetch?

The problem started after i reinstalled XP, for system slow performance issue.
After XP installation, the noise from one of the system's fan was too much
and the PC shut down abrubtly.

Now the processor (intel) starts,Motherboard LED glows, CPU fan runs, but shuts down after few seconds. Now there's no much noise from any of the fans, but the fans do work.

No POST, No Video. Keyboard does not respond. No LEDs glow on Keyboard.
Not able to enter BIOS.

I've reseated RAM, CPU and also have cleaned the RAM.
All physical connections are correct.SMPS Works fine.

Please help me with this...

A:My Desktop PC shuts down after around 20 seconds of start

I'd say system slow performance followed by high fan speed followed by shut down sounds like the CPU overheated. Since you now get no post, it sounds like the CPU is damaged. My 2 cents.

Cannot do a disk repair - unable to complete.

Just making sure it has not been infected prior to probably having to change hard drives, RAM or whatever.

Hello everyone, about two months ago i purchased a New motherboard, hard drive, video card, proccessor, and memory for my computer. I made the upgrade to allow my computer to run the programs and games i wanted. About $600 in parts. A few days ago i went to turn my computer on (with no previous problems) and it started up normal for about 30 seconds then randomly turned off. I tried it again several times only to the same result. My powersupply had been making some wierd buzzing noizes so i figured it was my power supply that was going out. I did tap the powersupply to make the buzzing stop for a few seconds but then it would continue. I then went and bought a new 650 watt power supply hoping this would fix the problem. It did not. It still turns off about 15 seconds into the start up. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Hi there, (Acer Aspire 5750z)
I really hope someone can please help me.
I've looked at almost any forum I can find and seem to be having a few similar problems but more to other people but nothing I've tried has worked.
Situation is a few things: I have to tap the power button a million times before I get a blue light to turn on.
If it does turn on it only lasts a couple of seconds or so
Also it will not click on just by battery alone it has to have the AC cord plugged in and then as soon as the light is on it can stay on just battery alone.
There is the odd occasion where it has stayed on more than a few seconds and the very rare occasion it has stayed on like normal.
I have gotten myself a new cord and battery pack, I've done the air blow trick for the fan even though the fan had been working the whole time. I've factory reset the entire computer.
I've taken all power away and held the power button down for a minute and tried to turn back on with just the cord plugged in.

I've taken out the memory and tried that also tried the different memory chip sticks changing them trying them all together and all separately but all to no avail.
The computer was used less than a handful of times before my mum gave it to me it didnt have any information or downloads on it but unfortunately it is now out of warranty.
I'm trying to get a computer because I don't have much money and trying to do some business from home so I can work it around my 2 ... Read more

Hello guys, I've been asking a lot of questions lately, I just want to get these resolved.

I run Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have Firefox 3.0.1 installed with only 1 extension, Adblock Plus. At a cold launch, Firefox takes more than 30 seconds to start (the window appearing). After that, it takes about 15 seconds to load. This has happened as long as I can remember, even with Firefox 2. And yes, without extensions and a clean install, the same time to start.

What can be the problem? I tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling (without uninstalling preferences.) Can completely uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it help? I don't want to lose my prefs and data.

By the way, I have 2GB of RAM, so I don't think that's the problem.

A:Firefox takes no less than 40 seconds to start

You can always backup your profile if you want to do a clean install of firefox. But not sure restoring the profile would not also restore things back as it is now.
But you could restore just parts.

MozBackup 1.4.8 works great at backups and restore.

I can check Win7 64 bit to see what the problem is? I have Opera 12 installed on 2 other computers (one with Win7 64 bit and the other w/XP) and the browser opens within seconds. The delay is only happening on the wife's computer. I changed no settings on Opera when I installed the upgrade to 12 so I am guessing it is the PC that is causing the painful delay.
I un-installed it twice, installed it once to her SSD and then again on her HDD and there was no change in the startup delay-it is driving me crazy.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Jeff

A:Opera 12 takes 15-17 seconds to start up-is there anyway

If you upgraded from a previous version, maybe it's due to a setting or something carried over from the older version. Why not try a fresh install from scratch? You can do a "portable" install into a new folder somewhere and try if that copy starts fast.

A:Laptop hangs for 30 seconds after start up?

You might want to run "msconfig" in the run box. Then run in diagnosis mode. Reboot and see if it hangs.
If it doesn't, then run msconfig again, put it back to your normal startup, and disable the item in the startup tab.
Reboot, and if its good, the start enabling things in the startup tab, couple at a time and rebooting, till you get a hang.

It sounds like somethings not running right, and may need to be reinstalled/fixed.

Hi,

Over the past few weeks, when i went to turn on my PC it would start for anywhere in between 1 and 4 seconds and then completely turn off. After a few tries though, it would stay on. But today, after many tries it doesn't stay on.

When i start it, all fans, lights, drives turn on/light up then 1-5 seconds later everything just turns off completley. It doesnt even get to the point where it makes that beep sound. I thought it might be my power supply, but i bought a brand new one only a few months ago. i've tried reseating the RAM, cleaning the motherboard area, re-connecting wires/cables but nothing is fixing it.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

I am working with a fresh installation of Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 2350. Every time I boot this computer, it will not respond to clicks on the Start button nor to Ctrl+Alt+Del for about 100- to 180 seconds after booting. This problem started before doing any Windows updates.

The odd thing is that if I click on a desktop icon, it will instantly start or open whatever that icon represents. As a test, I have put shortcuts on the desktop to Wordpad, Calculator, Control Panel and My Computer and they all start up instantly; but, nothing on the taskbar responds for at least 100- to 180 seconds.

I've run CHKDSK /R and done all Windows updates; but, nothing has changed.

Any ideas?

Since about March I decided I wanted a new computer. I went ahead and ordered this pre-built computer from Newegg and it worked for a few months but it was pretty slow when it came to new games. I wanted something that I could play new games on and do decently well with. So I decided I would over time replace all the parts.

I just got done doing an entire overhaul on my system. I bought everything brand new including a new case. The only thing I didn't replace was the hard drive.

Here are my current specs:

AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz
SAPPHIRE 100312-3SR Radeon HD 6950
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB
GIGABYTE GA-A75-UD4H FM1 AMD A75
Windows 7 Home Premium
Antec HCG-750 750W ATX12V Power Supply
1TB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD

I am pretty new to building and tinkering with computers. So this has been a learning experience for me. I installed everything and my computer seemed to start up fine. I can get to the windows startup screens and select to start it up normally or go into startup repair. But then the computer will just shut off.

My power supply seems to be working alright its spinning on the inside fine I'm getting the LED at the front. I don't think it's a problem with the power supply.

Every time I get the option to start windows normally and I hit it it will get to the beginning of it and I'll get a brief blue screen and the computer will shut off. Whenever I try to use the startup repair it will begin repairing and then it will shut off. Other times I... Read more

Hi, I have an Ideapad Flex 4-1480-80VD that I bought under a month ago and I started experiencing a weird issue. When I try to watch or listen to anything with audio (YouTube or music/video files on my hard drive), it takes 5 seconds for the audio to kick in. There is no sync issue, the audio is just starting after a delay. (I am not 100% sure, but I think this started after the audio driver disappeared out of nowhere one day while sitting in class. I wasn't having any issues but then noticed that there was a red marker on the speaker volume icon on my taskbar. When I clicked on it, Windows scanned for hardware changes, so I'm guessing it noticed the driver was missing and re-installed it.) Anyway, if I stop the file and take more than 8-10 seconds to open or start another file/YouTube video, I experience the 5 second delay again. If I start the next video in under 8 seconds, I have no issue and everything works fine. It's as if some audio component is going to sleep each time and it takes those 5 seconds to startup. I've tried everything I can think of regarding updating, unistalling and reinstalling drivers or tweeking audio settings. I've also tried disabling the Harman enhancement to no avail. If nothing works I'll guess I'll have to factory reset the PC, which I don't necessarily feel like doing lol. Of course it's not a major issue, but it does get irritating. Any advice is welcome. Thank you

I would not go to such drastic measures as resetting your system, since it is most likely, as you suspect, a driver issue.   Have you tried seeing if an older driver exists on your system that does not have the problem Right clicking on your sound card in Device Manager, and select PropertiesSelect the Driver tabSelect Update DriverSelect Browse my Computer for driver softwareSelect Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my systemIn the resulting window, you should see a list of all the drivers currently stored on your systemYou mentioned that you have uninstalled and reinstalled, but when uninstalling, have you checked the box to Delete the driver software for this device when doing so, for if not, Windows will normally not install the clean copy you downloaded, but rather just reload the already installed copy that could be corrupted. Also there was an issue reported with Conextant Audio Drivers on other Lenovo laptops that was fixed with a driver update, but your system appears to use the Realtek HD Audio card, is that correct?

Hello Everyone,

I have an Hp s5213w slimline desktop computer it originally came with windows 7 but I recently had put Windows 8.1 on it.It was running fine but then I shut it down one night,Then the next day I went to power it up to boot as usual. When I turned it on it would get to Windows 8.1 boot then shut down. After this I checked the power plug to make sure the power cord was not loose it was fine.I have been trying to keep turning it on but no luck sometimes it will get to the hp boot screen sometimes not so lucky,After attempting that it wouldn't even show the hp bootscreen anyone have a suggestion why this does this ? I hate to throw money into a computer for parts that I do not need I was told maybe it was the power supply or the hard drive. Can Anyone help ?

A:s5213 Hp Slimline Pavillion Start's Up Then Shuts Off In Seconds

Since you recently installed Windows 8.1 I'm guessing that you have the installation disc?

If you do, see if you can boot from the disc.

Another way to accomplish the same thing would be to boot into the BIOS.

If you can do either of these without the computer shutting down this could be a software problem.  If it still shuts down it's time to start looking at hardware.

The PSU would be one of the possibilities.  There is a way to test this, but it would mean having to open the case so that you can access the 24 pin PSU connector on the motherboard.

Biggest issue is it looks like it is giving a "Anonymous User" full permissions potentially allowing them to access my computer.C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\Lenovo Transition\Transition.exeCan anyone tell me if this file is safe or should I disable it and remove it.Thanks

Sorry for the delay in posting this - back at work so not many hours at home.

This section is from my original posting in the "Am I Infected" forum (link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic428939.html):

System is a Dell desktop about 4yr old running Windows XP SP3 - last patches applied Sat 19 Nov. Maybe this is not related but I upgraded my zonealarm free to v10.1.065.000 on Sunday. (I am using my laptop to post this and the ZA free was also updated on this and seems to be fine.)

Problem: system boots up ok, login screen appears ok when press ctrl-alt-del, login seems to work ok (get usual selection of icons on the screen and little icons in the tasktray (right-hand side) and quick access trays (is this the correct name? - it's the one on the left-hand side next to the start button) on the taskbar.

I can start a program by moving the mouse pointer and clicking on the quick access tray, e.g. firefox and the program opens OK. However, when I move the mouse pointer back to open another program, e.g. text editor, the icon in the quick access tray doesn't "highlight" and nothing happens. Keyboard seems to continue to respond ok to most things (i.e. can type ctrl-shift-esc to open the task manager from which I can file-run and open teh cmd window from which I have been able to cd around the disks on the computer and also shutdown. In firefox, I can type ok in e.g. google and get search results. The computer doesn't respond if I press th... Read more

Hello,

My computer just started hanging the other day within a few seconds of when I login. By that I mean it just freezes. I can't move the mouse and the keyboard is unresponsive. No error messages are displayed, it just freezes. I have to powercycle the box and then it happens again.

I have been able to get the computer to run in safe mode, but when I run it in safe mode with networking it also hangs. I have tried disabling all the network devices from the control panel/system/hardware/device manager. But I have the same problem.

I ran SUPERAntiSpyware and it found a few tracking cookies which I deleted and then I ran a full scan it came up clean. I tried running Norton while in Safe Mode, but after a few minutes the system again hung.

I followed the 5 step virus removal instructions and have included the logs below.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Hi All,

I have noticed a quite annoying delay in google chrome (Btw I just reinstalled it now).
It takes between 5 to 10 seconds (Sometimes more) for it to start loading any address i enter. For instance, entering www.bleepingcomputer.com then hitting enter, there will be an unepected wait/delay/silence for many seconds before the browser start trying to lookup and load the page.

Second observation: Navigating to a link within an already opened website loads instantly (This means that the problem only occurs when i enter new website)

Third Observation: Navigating to bleepingcomputers.com from a tab with www.yahoo.com already loaded will firstly read "waiting for y3.analytics.yahoo.com" for some seconds before starting to load the new web. While navigating to a site from a new tab will also say waiting for www.google.com before starting to load the new web.

Please help..
Thanks.

Ps: I have latest version of chrome

I have found, as weird as it seems, if you remove the tick from the 'automatic detect settings' option within the internet options dialogue box from control panel, connections, lan connection, ive found this can take a few seconds off the start, especially the 'stall'.
