Machine reboots during Spyware scan...won't load updates. Issues issues issues!

Q: Machine reboots during Spyware scan...won't load updates. Issues issues issues!

Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem accessing my network/Internet connection, anytime I try to go to a site to download updates, info, or programs relating to Internet Security, I get a "You have no connection to the internet" screen. I've tried initiating my PC maker's "system recovery" (i.e. software reload) program, but the system just reboots just like when the antivirus programs are running. I just want to clean my drive just enough that I can do a sys recovery, wipe the slate, and start over.

I will run and post a HJT log as soon as I know someone's ready to help.

Thanks in advance!

Preferred Solution: Machine reboots during Spyware scan...won't load updates. Issues issues issues!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Apple published security updates and bulletins for six products such as Xcode 9, tvOS 11, watchOS 4, Safari 11, iOS 11, and iTunes 12.7 (for both macOS and Windows).

The security updates were published to address several low-level security issues. The most important of all the security patches is the one delivered with the recently launched iOS 11. For an overview of all the new (non-security related) features in iOS 11, you can read this review from MacRumors.

There are no macOS security updates. Apple will release macOS High Sierra (10.13) on September 25, and the company is expected to bundle any security patches with the main 10.13 release.Click to expand...

Hello!I've got a Dell that we purchased in December 2007. About a month or so ago, one day it wouldn't boot properly. After much time in safe mode and lots of scanning (Malwarebytes, AVG, and Super-Anti-Spyware), I got it going again. However, it is very very very slow to load the desktop items after a re-start. I don't think it should be that slow; pretty sure it wasn't before.I had a multitude of Trojans and nasties on here that I believe I have cleaned up. Where they came from I've no idea, but they were there. Right now there seem to be a couple of things that AVG can't do anything with. Every so often I get a warning about a couple of things, try to Heal or Move to Vault, and ultimately have to Ignore. I would greatly appreciate any help that you wise folks can offer. Whatever logs you need to see, etc, please point me in the right direction and I will provide them as quickly as possible. As soon as I can find the names of the things AVG can't touch, I'll post them. Edited to add - I should post the OS I guess! Windows XP Home Edition. Also, I most often use the SeaMonkey browser. Occasionally I use IE for some sites that will only work on IE, and once in a great while I use FireFox.Edited again to add: I downloaded, updated & ran a-squared. Hey, i am having a very baffleing issue with my PC.

Custom Built PC
OS: Windows XP Sp2
Intel Pentium 4 Processer 3.00 GHz
Nvidia GEforce 6600 GT
512 Mb RAM
80 GB hard drive
Gigabyte Intel 775 AGP 8x Motherboard
500 Watt standard Power Supply
Onboard Sound Card (Realtek)
and 6 Fans.

The problem started a Week ago, i was in the middle of a Game, and my PC out of no warning rebooted, so i went into Properties, and checked to see is the system failure had the Option "Automatically Restart" checked off. But then a hour after it rebooted again, so i scanned my PC for viruses but nothing showed. My Computer was then fine for another 2 days, but then the reboot happened again. This time, when i rebooted, it took 2 minutes exactly to Read it's "IDE" drives and once it read them it then rebooted again into the SAME screen and read the Memory again then the IDE.

So then i go into BIOS and check out to see if there was anything inside there that could have caused the error, but turned out with nothing. So i turned it off, then started it back up again and it read the RAM, etc and took almost a minute until it got to the screen with the XP logo and the loading bar. That took 23.6 seconds according to my watch then got back into desktop. It should be noted that my DVD drive is not detected by my PC anymore, until i rebooted the PC from the reboot option in shut down naturally, and it detected the DVD drive again.

Oooooooooookkkaaaayy.... well. This is probably all my fault really. I thought I could fix stuff.... turns out I dont actually know what I'm doing and I think I may have made things worse....To start from the begining- In general, I have an issue with the hard drive... When I remove stuff, the hard drive adds gigabytes rather than removing them. It says something like '213 gbs out of 293' and and when I started I KNOW there was way more than that and I've uninstalled all the programs I added (Long story) and cleaned out the hidden files so I know for a fact there is nothing there to take up the space. I want my memory back, grrrar. Anyway...

So I was going through my control panel and deleting bloatware, you know stuff the laptop came with that I dont really need, trying to figure out the affor mentioned problem of memory adding instead of lessening and I removed this thing called 'Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE redistributeable' thinking Oh, thats just some app trying to get me to use games I dont need, lets get rid of it. BIG mistake. After that my games (Fallout 3 and oblivion, to be specific) had issues. Fallout wouldn't start, something about 'xlive.ddl' which I figured must have something to do with the microsoft games whatsit and oblivion seemed to be fine but I decided to uninstall it (just...don't ask....) and I started getting this error- setupdll/setupdll.cpp (390) PAPP:Oblivi... So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:

Hi guys,

We got a brother 4100e setup yesterday and we're having issues in the office now. We originally had 2 fax machines, one only for outgoing faxes, and we used the copier for incoming/outgoing.

We got the brother so that the copier wouldnt be tied up with people trying to fax. I switched the line back over to the brother (ive tried a new fax cord line as well). Some faxes go out fine but yesterday and today we've had a few incoming faxes that didn't come through (usually they do) and even some outgoing faxes yesterday that did go through. Thing is, SOME DID go through just a few didn't.

When we switched back to the copier it worked once but I'm trying again to make sure someone who recently faxed us can get through to the copier, and not to the brother, just for testing.

Any ideas? The brother is setup for Easy Receive. thanks

Forgot to mention: We use a 3 way line splitter on that line that is labeled 1,2,1+2 and the first two ports (1 and 2) are used. The other line goes to a mailing machine or something. The activity report for yesterday on the brother shows a couple NG which means "Poor Line Condition / Out of Memory" and a couple BUSY.

I have two annoying issues with my new ThinkPad X1 Tablet (Model: 20JB001DGE, running Windows 10 Pro, Build: 1709; 16299.371): When trying to create a new folder on a network share on my Synology NAS I get the error message:If I click 'Try Again' the message remains. When 'Cancel' is clicked I got the new folder with the default name 'New Folder'.Sometimes this also happens when renaming a folder or file. The only way to get rid of it, is restarting the tablet.I have already been in contact with the Synology Support. They checked the NAS, which seems to be okay. This can be confirmed by using another Windows tablet with the same Win 10 build, which can access the NAS shares and create folder without any issues.I also contacted the Microsoft Support. They adviced me to disable all non-Windows services and all auto start items.I uninstalled my Antivirus and Firewall-Tool Avast Premier, using Windows Defender only now.We also tried out different SMB configurations. (activating SMB v1 only on both NAS an PC vs. SMB v2/3, which is the recommended and more secure configuration.)Nothing of this helped so far.The tablet is connected to the DVI port of a monitor via the USB 3 Ultra Dock.Every once in a while some items are displayed larger than normal or seem blurred, for example when opening windows explorer. This screenshot should illustrate the difference. Hello all,

I currently have a Dell computer given to me by my old employer that is running into validation/registry issues. The computer is now at my new employer since it was faster than what they originally had for me. I am assuming the computer originally had a KMS activated copy of Windows 7 Enterprise but I can't be sure. I first noticed issued awhile ago when a dialogue box saying something on the lines of I could be a victim of software piracy or something. I just closed it out and didn't pay much attention to it.

I then tried to download Microsoft Visual C++ as a program requested that I do so and I got the 0x80070005 - Access is denied error. I've researched and a bit and even bought a new copy (with CD) of Windows 7 Pro. I was a fool and thought I could just plug in the new key and it would be fine. I've tried the whole SubInACL deal and got errors so I'm not sure what I should do next.

I could do a fresh install but 1. This is now my primary work computer so I don't want to lose anything. I am somewhat scared of doing a fresh install, a restore, etc. I honestly don't know the difference all that well.

I also forgot to mention I have the original CoA and I will give that information now:
Windows 7 Pro OA

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi all,
Going to try and make this brief, "try" being the operative word here..

I have a Gateway PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
4 gigs of ram but obviously not all useable (yet)
Dual core processor
Nvidia 9800GT graphics Card
Corsair 650 watt PSU
HT Omega Striker 7.1 Souncard..

Kaspersky Internet Security 2012
Nvidia 280.65 driver (latest)

Basically have done a lot of upgrades on this PC with the exception of the motherboard and CPU.

Two days ago I noticed when I log into my PC, it will boot up, however shortly after, programs will begin to stop responding. Sometimes the PC will boot into a black screen, other times I get to the desktop and the taskbar clocks and just does not work, then other times as stated, will boot up, work for about 15 to 30 minutes until explorer stops responding and ultimately, everything else I try to use.

Here are some behaviors I noticed:Is probably not hardware related as safe mode does work as should no matter how long I use it
Could not install programs - when trying, would freeze or fail (in reg desktop)
One weird thing I noticed is that the hard drive activity LED will start doing a repetitive pattern when the system begins to freeze... it will light up for 3 to 4 seconds to show activity, then blink on and off, then light again for the same time, then blink.. same exact pattern over and over again.. all the while you can hear the drive making the same noise, almost as thought its "skipping" (again, safe m... Try working through these troubleshooting steps to utilize the logs and System Resources to find clues, clear all hardware.

There are other tools listed which may help working up to a Repair Install as a last resort before Reinstalling Windows 7 to get a perfect clean baseline reinstall which should solve anything not hardware related.

Ok well it has been a while since I posted requesting help in here. I suppose that could be considered a good thing... Anyway I checked the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Using HijackThis and Other Malware Removal Tools" thread just to double check the proper way to post in here and noticed you guys mention to use a program called "DDS". I have never used this in the past, I have always only used HijackThis but I will, for the sake of covering all my bases, included both the DDS files and the HijackThis report.Ok on to the problem at hand. I will list the problems as I remember them in the order of when they happened (hopefully, knowing my memory...) starting with the more recent problems. (1.) What has happened recently is I have noticed that my processor has been maxing out at 100% doing things that would normally not require more than maybe 20% of the processor. (2.) I have recently done some fairly major creation/deletion/moving of files in hopes of lowering the amount of junk on my computer. I have also run a defragmentation on my hard drive but it is hard to tell if it really worked because whereas in Windows XP the disk defragmentation tool gave you the ability to analyze your hard drive and then actually watch the progress as it defragmented the hard drive, Windows Vista only gives you the ability to "Defragment Now" and then all you can do to tell whether or not it is done is to stare at the little 'Vista ... Okay, so I've been having some annoying issues on my computer, nothing serious yet but some are concerning. Feel free to ask for more info if needed.

Issue 1: I've had some jerkiness/lag and loading issues for some of the games I play, particularly Blizzard games (all of which should be well within system specs). The prime examples:

--> When I play Overwatch, sometimes character models/audio/sprays/projectiles take FOREVER to load for the first game I play after launching the program. All player models are essentially invisible, including my own (don't see the character's weapon or even HUD), and if I fire my weapon while invisible the map will react (breakable objects break), but all of the effects are invisible (if I fire a rocket, for instance, the rocket and explosion are invisible). I can still see usernames above allied players, but enemies are completely invisible. Models load at different rates (so one hero's model might load after a few seconds while the rest take minutes, for instance), any sprays just appear as the default spray (if they appear at all), and voice lines don't work. This has lasted for an entire round before, and when that happens the "play of the game" clip will often have invisible characters in it, even if they've loaded fully by the end of the round. Additionally, even once most/all assets are loaded, if I die and respawn there is a period (several seconds) where the screen is completely black even though my character is ... Read more

Cant remove, issues reappear often, cannot get into Google.com or known sights that would be obviously safe to surf within them such as foxnews.com and other pages take forever to load or do not load at all, just plain old frustrating, java is messed and files temp downloaded from Java cannot be deleted when performing a disk cleanup, along with ipod/ ishuffle and all Apple software no longer working, so I cannot use iTunes to load songs on to them etc and I had issues deleting AVG7/ Grisoft but I finally did it via Hijack this, using OneCare which is awful, Windows XP Home SP3, I have two logs to post or forward but I was advised not to post the logs before someone asks me to, please let me know ASAP, I believe I have a serious infection, so much so that my hotmail account was hijacked a month ago so I had to change my password and the person used to send medical spam emails to many comcast.com subscribers and God only knows if he/she has stolen any of my personal and confidential information. Also bytes received are so much larger than bytes sent example rcvd 5 million (5,000,000) sent 4 hundred thousand (400,000). Please advise, I am unsure if I can give you my hotmail account via this posting or the log files pertaining to the exact issues for I am new on this site. Also if I have posted in the wrong location please help me post in the proper location. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have posted before about 4 months or so ago but I am still having problems getting rid of Roxio creative suite from my computer. When I run programs like spyware blaster and a MP3 converter program I get the loading screen for roxio saying it is going to load and then it fails. It is really a pain to always have to deal with. Plus as of recently I am unable to load Nero 8 fully on my computer without errors. I tried the demo but when I uninstalled it and tried to load Nero 8 again it would not work, there are some files missing I guess like DXbridge, Audio wave effects and one other one. I tried another install of Nero 8 and omitted the wave editor and some other features and it did load but now I get a server busy error (switch to or retry), when I try to make a cd/dvd. I can press retry multiple times and it will work but not without the the hastle!! Please can someone help me!! I have attached my hijackthis and dss log. I tried attaching the extra.txt log but it seems to fail!!

- amd athlon64 4000+ cpu
- asus a8n premium motherboard
- 2 x bfg geforce 7800gtx overclocked (stock)
- 3 x 1GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
- enermax fma II 535W power supply (SLI certified)

the windows installation goes fine, but windows will randomly restart and windows can't download most updates (downloads hang) and any downloaded updates will fail to install- Internet access appears to be fine. i tried to install a program that will verify windows update is working properly but that failed to install.

i installed windows 7 using the same install disc on another computer and i haven't had any of these issues, so i'm guessing that there's an issue with the hardware.

is there some way i can scan the hardware in the computer to verify it is compatible and working properly with windows 7? does anyone know where i might start looking for a hardware issue with the gear that i'm using?

thanks for any help with this.

A:random reboots and windows update issues

Well, before you use windows update, try to download drivers for your hardware off of the manufacturers' websites. Then don't download any optional windows updates, just the critical and important ones. Also, try not to install all of them at once. You have gone into computer > properties > Windows activation and manually clicked "activate" right?

First-time poster on the board, hoping to tap some of the expertise here.

I have an Acer desktop running Windows Vista and I'm having a few issues with it. First and foremost is the loss of Internet connectivity. The network and sharing center reports that it can only access the network locally. I've tried looking through IP and proxy settings, and even reset the Winsock and IP stack. I also tried to determine whether it was software or hardware by booting an Ubuntu live disc and try to get online and even installed a temporary PCI ethernet card, neither of which worked.

Also, whenever shutting down (a process which can take upwards of 10 minutes) I get a BSOD attributed to a "DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE" for which I've attached the dump file.

Finally, plug and play doesn't seem to work. I only noticed this when trying to copy the dump to a flash drive and the drive was not recognized either by connecting to the onboard USB or additional connectors.

Any help I can get here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Recently my Vista machine has started doing a few strange things. I will outline them below as best I can, please let me know if you need further details.

I have run Spybot, Adaware, AVG and they have found nothing.

* I am occasionally get new tabs appearing in Firefox with unwanted advertising. The URL usually contains several terms that I have used in Google.
* I have received a message: "DCOM Server Process Launcher etc" and it wants me to restart my machine.
* I think this machine, which is quite new and fairly quick, has slowed down somewhat since these problems started.

I hope someone can help me with this.

I help a friend that has an E-Machine W3052....running XP. Problem, when you turn on the machine, you get the "E" logo...at the bottom it say "Press <F-2> for Bios Setup & Press <F-10> for Boot setup". Now when I press any of this (F-2 or F-10) I can not go any further.

BUT...when I disconnct the HD cable, I CAN get into the Bios or Boot set up. I then set it up to boot with the CD-Rom first. Then I save it and re-boot. (My friend has 4 CD recovery also). It say it can not detect the HD, so I power the machine off, re-connect the HD cable, & start over.....I can not get any further than the "E" logo. I evn took out the battery for about a 1/2 hour. I've tried taking out the "Ram" and re-installing it.

Any suggestions....PLEASE ???

Hello again! I'll get right to the point:

I need a free virtual machine that has the ability to boot from a USB drive (I have Ubuntu Linux 10.04 installed on it as bootable). If there isn't is there some way I can "trick" the computer or the Virtual Machine to think my USB drive is a hard disk?
Thank you so much in advance!

A:Virtual Machine Issues

A virtual machine needs an OS to run. It can't run by itself or be booted. Yes, there are virtual machines that run from USB and host other operating systems. But they must be run inside an already booted OS.

But what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Folks:

In the near future, I'm hoping to run the Consumer Preview of Threshold, so I'm attempting to get Windows 8.1 installed now to ensure that I'm ready and working. Plus I'd like to play around a bit with Windows 8.1.

I've realized that my system and my processor in particular won't support a 64-bit guest. So I'm trying to install the x86 build of Windows 8.1. Before I search for a source, will my system support this? My specs should be listed, but here are the relevant processor/system details.

HP xw8200 (two Xeon 3.68 GHz Processors - Netburst/P4 Style)
DEP can be enabled. I do NOT have NX.
Host OS: Vista Ultimate x64

I really wish I could just find a junker system to test out the OSs and see if I like them, but what is needed for a "junker" PC now is quite substantial.

A:Virtual Machine Issues

Windows 8 and 8.1 require PAE, NX and SSE2. In Windows 7 and prior NX was recommended but not required. It is now required.
These requirements will likely remain the same in future systems. More may be added.

All hardware in a virtual machine is virtualized, except the CPU. These features must be present in the CPU or it cannot support Windows 8 in a virtual machine.

Good Day to all. Just bought a new Dell laptop with Win 7. Went through the initial windows data entry, but fat fingered the user name and now cant remember exactly what got typed into that line..

Can only get to blue login screen with box in the middle of screen, one line for user name and one line for password with arrow to the right of it.

I'm really not sure what I typed in there to start with. I know, I know, what a goof.
Could I possibly use a recovery disk from a similarly built laptop to start things all over again? I have another dell from 2 months ago, inspiron as well, just different model with Win 7 as well.

Thanks and good luck with my question.

You should have the built in recovery partion that will reset your machine to factory defaults.

Ever since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, this SoftThinks Agent Service is taxing my HDD to 100% slowing things down.
This is related to Dell Backup and Recovery software. I can kill this service and that's that but every-time I start up, this happens.
As for sleep mode, I will come back to my laptop and raise the lid, hit the keys, move the mouse, nothing. I hit the power button and nothing. So I hold the power button and then hit it to boot up, so clearly there are issues in relation to sleep mode and something shutting it off. (others have posted the same)
I installed all newest Intel drivers on your site and I read 1 user stated to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage, which I did. Intel Management Engine remains as I am still trying to troubleshoot. Are you testing all these new drivers you are putting out for download? Do I need to go back to Win8.1, your site said my laptop could be upgraded.
Please advise and "do the needful".

A:Inspiron 3542 - Win10 upgrade issues - SoftThinks Agent Service utilizing 100% HDD & sleep mode/power issues

same thing here as far as the power issues. you must remove the 2 other intel things that were installed along with the Intel rapid storage
intel security assist
intel management engine something or other (cant remember the exact name)
i still have the intel graphics and chipset drivers installed without any problems. it was just the intel rapid storage stuff that caused all the power , sleep mode problems..

Hi, I hope someone can help me

Over the last few months I have been having intermittent problems watching Netflix on my Roku media streamer. (I could listen to the radio on there all day no issue). If I try and watch anything, after a short while it cuts out and the Roku has been disconnected from the Wireless Connection. I connect it again and I can watch some more Netflix... sometimes this happens 5+ times in one episode. Occasionally I get to watch a whole episode.

I spoke to tech support at Roku and was told to assign a DNS on my internet provider, they gave me the details and I got a tech minded friend to do it. Didn't help.

Another problem is my router will restart its self at least a couple of times a week. First off my laptop is unable to connect to the internet, then the router restarts and takes ages to connect to the internet again.

I spoke to talktalk tonight and apparently my connection is running a little slow, they have ''refreshed the connection'' and I've to keep an eye on it over the next couple of days and get back in touch with them if it persists.
I just feel like I need some (or a lot) more info on what I think I am talking about because I have no idea if they are just messing me around. I can't connect my Roku to the router with a wire it is wireless only. I don't have an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to the router either.

On my laptop which is now about 6 years old I have been experiencing a few issues. First as the laptop is so old it has seen its fair amount of system restores but one thing I have been noticing is that my hard drive space is disappearing. The laptop started with 160gb (shows how old it is) split 80gb between the different partitions but now it only has 69.5gb per partition, so does anyone have any clue how to restore the space?

The second problem I am having is with installing my printers, I have successfully installed two wireless printers on my desktop pc but when it comes to connecting to the printer I must first setup a temporary link with a usb to one of the printers but when I connect them together it does not pick it up. But if I plug other devices in then run fine, anyone got any ideas?

The last issue I am having seems to be some sort of autorun problem, for example when I insert a install disc the autorun box pops up but does not display the install and I only have the option the view all of the files so I have to find the setup application within the disc myself. Any ideas?

I know I am asking about a lot of issues but any help is appreciated.

Hello all,
I've been experiencing some strange issues that lead me to believe I may have some sort of infection. Here are the symptom's I'm seeing:
Last night my network was having many, many network issues. I logged into my router and saw that my computer had 400 active connections. I was able to get it down by shutting down applications such as Chrome, Netflix, Spotify, Blizzard Battle.Net, instant messenger, Steam, and Origins. I ended up shutting my computer down and decided to look again in the morning.
With the issues going on, web site access was happening very intermittently.
When I got on my PC to see what the problem was I had a notice that the Origin client (EA game client) couldn't log on because it was logged on in another location. I've only got it installed on this computer.
After the PC was shut down I reset my router and modem and connection seemed to be going fine.
I woke up this morning and checked me email on my phone and found a message saying that my twitter password had been changed. I fired up my twitter app and was still able to connect. I went to twitter to try and force a log on and was able to connect with my old password. I looked through my feed an saw that my account had sent out about 20 spam messages in the middle of the night. I changed my password to be safe, but who knows if that'll do anything.
Anyway, I'm really worried something is going on. Can someone help me out?

Hey all,

It's my first post here, so I'll try to be as helpful in my explanations as possible.

Basically I'm running Windows 10 64-bit (free download version) and am trying to use my HTC ONE (m7) with Trinus VR. For the least latency I'm trying to use it through USB tethering. The problem is that my computer keeps dropping and reconnecting to the phone. Plus, even though the phone's USB tethering is on, I'm not getting a 'tethering' connection (only able to explore the file structure).

Now, as far I can tell, according to a google search, most of the problem comes down to the Microsoft USB drivers(? need confirmation on this). I've changed my power options and disabled the "USB selective suspend setting", I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC Sync and HTC SyncManager software AND uninstalled all of the USB devices in the Device Manager.

It will still, on occasion, go through a cycling disconnect and reconnect pattern.

Do you ladies and gentleman have any more ideas that I can try?

Many thanks for reading this far, I appreciate ANY help or advice that you can give. THANKS!
