I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Dell Precision 5520 laptop connected to Dell WD15 dock.
There is a Dell U3011 2560x1600 display connected to MiniDP of the dock.
The laptop display works in 1920x1080 mode, in order to get DPI similar to the one on U3011 (that's on purpose I'm fine with that).
Today I tried adding the third display with 1280x1024 resolution connected to VGA of the dock.
It doesn't work. The third display gets detected by the Ubuntu display settings, but it can't be turned on. It works only if I unplug U3011.
It is also possible to run all 3 displays in mirror mode, but not in extended desktop mode.
Is it a hardware limitation (Intel graphics in Precision, WD15 dock) or just problem with Intel Linux graphic drivers?
BTW: Nvidia card is turned off.
From  the WD15 and laptop specs it looks like the config I'm trying to do should be supported:
- 1920x1080 builtin laptop screen- 2560x1600 through WD15 and miniDP - 1280x1024 through WD15 and VGA

Any ideas, what I can try?

I've been having a terrible time getting the WD15 USB-C dock to work with my XPS 15 9550.  I have two monitors plugged into the dock (one HDMI, one VGA) and I have the 9550's monitor on (total of three screens).
I'm able to use all three monitors when I'm connected to the dock, but when I disconnect the dock, the laptop screen stays black.  The computer is still running the whole time (if I have music playing, it keeps playing).  If I plug the dock back in, all 3 monitors come back.
I've tried everything I can think of from updating every driver, following the dock driver installation guide, updating BIOS, removing and reinstalling display drivers, but I don't know what's going on.
Any ideas?

I have a WD15 dock and a Latitude 7280. When I lock my computer and come back to resume work I am met with a black screen and a flickering mouse pointer.
Here is my setup:
WD15 - all firmware updated and applied
Latitude 7280 - all firmware updated and applied
Dell E2214H x2 monitors
DVI to HDMI cable
DVI to Mini Display port cable.
Power settings - No hard drive sleep when plugged in. Monitor to sleep after 5 minutes.
I am fairly certain this is a result of a firmware issue. I am just posting here so that maybe someone at Dell makes a note of this. If someone by chance has a fix for this let me hear it!

A:WD15 dock, Latitude 7280 waking from sleep monitor issues

Can I also add that this dock is poorly designed. The HDMI port and Mini Display port are way too close together. They need a bit more room to account for different cable widths.

I am on my 3rd docking station.
The first two reported that my power supply was suppose to be 180w but apparently only 130w was being passed.
My current one only shows 60W.
I have all the BIOS updates for my 7510 and I have followed the procedure for WD15 and it too has the latest updates/drivers and yet, it still will not charge my laptop and I need to also connect my external power supply for it to charge.
Does anyone have this working?  Is it suppose to actually charge?  Should I return and try yet a 4th docking station?

Have a new WD15 Thunderbolt dock I am trying to get to work with two monitors connected to an ASUS GL552VW laptop. USBs, ethernet and audio that is connected to dock all work fine. But the VGA and HDMI monitors connected do not. The HDMI monitor works fine when I directly connect it to the laptop, but not when I connect it through the dock.
I have tried the troubleshooting tips in this:

I have installed the ASMedia Host Controller from here, twice for good measure:

ASUS support refuses to help me. I'm working on seeing if I can do the BIOS update.
Any advice? Will this not work with a non Dell laptop?
Thank you very much, quite frustrated.

Hi guys,

I have a really annoying problem... I have a dual screen set up on my desktop pc, and when I open a video in any media player and move it to my secondary monitor, it automatically plays full screen on my primary monitor as well!!

It's been going on for a while now, but just thought I'd actually see if anyone can help me!

I'm running win xp pro sp 3 and my video card is ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro... does that help?

Anyway, is there a setting somewhere that I need to address??

please help!

A:Playing videos on second monitor automatically plays full screen on primary monitor

Have you tried installing the lastest drivers? And is the second monitor spanned or cloned? I don't know here to tell you to look as I'm an nVidia guy...haven't used ATI in years.

I purchased a 500GB. external drive to store a full backup image on since it doesn't have a second internal drive. My main tower has a second drive which I keep a backup image on and also, use it for paging files and temporary internet files. What I was wondering was could I use the same external drive to store a backup image on? Then I thought about unhooking the second storage/image drive on the one tower or, is the drive worth keeping performance wise, for the paging/temp. internet files reason? Thanks!

A:Externel USB HD Question

Hello p5200,

Yes, you could save a system image from both PCs to the same external HDD if you have enough space on it if you like.

On you main tower, since you have the paging file and temp internet files on it's second drive, both drives will be included with it's system image by default and will take more space on the external HDD.

You're not going to get much performance increase by having the paging file and temp internet files on the second HDD unless it's faster than the drive Windows is installed on. Otherwise, it's mostly to save space on the drive Windows is installed on.

Hope this helps,

Dear community,

maybe you can help. I just made aquisition of a thinkpad yoga S1 (DXdiag here attached) DxDiag TP-Yoga S1.txt

I am very happy with it, except when I want to use an external display with the mini-HDMI-VGA dongle delivered by Lenovo:

The extended desktop on this external display is quite bad quality. This is happening on different external monitors which are very good when attached to my other computer.

What problem can it be? Graphic card? Dongle? driver?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

A:Bad display quality on externel screen / Thinkpad Yoga S1

I'd say the dongle is where you want to start. Have Lenovo send you a new one. You've already demonstrated that it's not the monitor, so that leaves items supplied by Lenovo and you'll have a significantly easier time getting them to agree to send you a dongle that probably costs them very little to produce compared to anything else. Plus it's easier for you to test and the most likely scenario to fix your issue. If there were something wrong with the GPU on the unit, you'd expect it to affect the internal display as well as external and do so equally/uniformly. The driver idea is possible, but highly unlikely, but if there's an updated driver and you want to install it while waiting for a new dongle to show up, knock yourself out.

I have an HP laptop and I have been running it with dual monitors. I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and after I installed it I noticed that the built in monitor of my laptop looked strange and when I opened the display settings to change the screen resolution and set the external monitor as a separate monitor rather than a mirror I noticed that only one monitor was detected and it was the external one (Generic non-pnp monitor on standard VGA graphics adapter) and the built in monitor does NOT show up at all.

I've tried the detection button, in hopes that the computer would read the built in monitor and I could fix the problem. This did not help. I tried unplugging/replugging the external monitor to no avail. I tried restarting without the external monitor plugged in and it STILL reads the built in monitor as if it is the external one. Is there anyway to fix this? I have not tried re-installing the OS, not yet anyways.

Any suggestions ?

A:How do I get my monitor to see full res?

Hi Cyberbuzz,

I am sure you already tried this, but have you right clicked desktop, clicked "screen resolution" selected 1920x1080 and applied it?

I doubt this will cure it but I have to ask.

I am using a 22" screen for my primary screen and the laptop lid open for a secondary screen. The main screens resolution is 1680x1050, I can set it to anything I want and it's always using the full screen. The laptop screen on the other hand will only use the full screen if it's at 1400x1050 resolution (max for that screen, IBM Thinkpad T43). With the large 22" screen I have no trouble reading the screen at high resolutions, the screen is huge, with the little 14" screen though I have to strain to read the screen at 1400x1050.

The problem is when I set the laptop screen to anything lower than 1400x1050, it uses less of the screen. Preferrably I want it at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (I dont know which I want yet as I can't see the freaking screen at that resolution). At 1280x1024 for instance the useable screen is just a box in the middle, so the "1280x1024" is still barely readable for me cause it's shrunk from full screen, plus it's just annoying only using a portion of the screen.

I have played with the ATI Control Center, the Thinkpad display settings and windows display settings and just cannot get this thing to go full screen at lower resolutions when docked and using the external monitor.

Anyway to resolve this?

It looks like you're using Firefox from those paths (you need to upload your images to a web-based host so we can see them). Go to the View menu, find the Page Style part and when the menu pops out, make sure that it's set to "Basic Page Style". Hopefully that will solve your problem - from your post it sounds like that is the issue.

Problem: Today I bought a second 22" widescreen monitor, an ASUS VK222H
Upon connecting it to my second monitor port and booting, windows claims it was improperly shutdown, and when picking Boot as Normal, it blue screens shortly after before reaching user login.

Removing my original monitor and plugging the new ASUS in ONLY, yielded the same improper shutdown message with following BSOD.

Either monitor will boot in safe mode, however only my original viewsonic will make it all the way to login. Everything runs fine with only the Viewsonic connected, but with only the ASUS, or with both, it blows up on me.

The BSOD was something along the lines of System_Service_Exception citing a file which I believe was nvlddmkm.sys

Since installing Vista 64-bit I'm having trouble with nvidia drivers for it. I have a Geforce 8800GTS 512mb PCI-E graphics card which I have used fine for the last few months.

I was using Vista 32-bit those last few months, but now I've made the switch to Vista 64-bit for the reasons that I get it free through my university and also to see if there is a performance boost.

Since using Vista 64-bit and installing the latest and older Nvidia drivers, when on my monitor's native resolution 1920x1080, it doesnt fill the whole screen, there is about an inch on everyside where the screen is just black, with the desktop sitting inside this, obviously I cannot use my monitor like this as 1920x1080 is small enough as it is, without it being reduced to a size of about a 19" screen.

I then switched to Omega drivers to see if this would fix it and it does, I could run 1920x1080 on the monitor perfectly. But when playing some games, colours would be different and anti-aliasing would be working etc. In the case of GTAIV, there weren't actually any textures at all.

Therefore I would like to use the Nvidia drivers but I can't run the resolution 1920x1080 because of my problem, and I really hate using 1680x1050 because all text is a bit blurry.

I have tried using the Nvidia Control Panel to adjust the scaling, if I apply any of the 4 scaling options, none of them make any different whatsoever, there is still an inch of nothing around the disp... Read more

Is there a software that can do this? I know I could just pull the edges of the window to fit, but that will look tacky and is unacceptable.

I know there are hardware solutions, but I would prefer software.

Eyfinity from AMD but it's a combination of both. You need a GPU that will support multi-monitors and a PSU that can power all the above mentioned hardware. Check out the link and the videos they have.

Yes, there is software that does stretch images across multiple screens. UltraMon, Display Fusion and MultiMon are just a few. Some are free, others are trial versions but most you have to pay for.

The auto-adjust feature is also disabled when using HDMI. Why? I have no idea. Anyways I was wondering what settings I could have missed or check from the PC / GFX card side of things.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Basically I was wondering how would I set up my Asus VS238H-P 23-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor.

I have a HP Pavilion all in one computer

The computer has no HDMI Cable in the back or a DVI or VGA. All It has is USB and LAN ports.

I wanted to hook it up so i can use my xbox 360 on it.

Hi there! I have been trying to use an external monitor with my Thinkpad T470P. When I hook it up to my laptop with a DVI-D to HDMI cable, I get a maximum resolution of 1280x800, exactly a quarter of the monitor's maximum resolution of 2560x1600.The monitor works well with other computers. It's a Samsung SyncMaster 305T monitor. Instead of the monitor name, it shows up "Generic PnP monitor" in device management. The Lenovo is rated for external monitors up to 4K resolution, so 2560x1600 should easily be possible. Things I've tried:- Changing resolution under Display Settings (it'll show "1280 * 800 (Recommended)", and can't use any higher resolution)- Reinstalling graphics card drivers- I've tried my laptop with other external monitors. Several EIZO 1080p monitors work fine.  I hope you could help me get the full 2560x1600 resolution out of my monitor. Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks!

I have just installed a FX5700 128mg ram into my new A7N8X-X board, 512 mg Kingmax ram, XP2400 cpu and when I play Quake 3, Call of Duty to name just two the screen will not play in Fullscreen mode and seems to resize to about an inch inside the monitor borders. The monitor is an LG 900b 19" CRT. On my other Pc which has a Hitachi 19" CRT FX5900 all games run at nearly Fullscreen with only 1/4" borders. Any help will save what hair I have left..

A:Games won't play to Full Monitor size?

I think the refresh rates at the resolution you play those games is different from your desktop resolution - or else the two resolutions are different altogether. To avoid going through all the monitor adjustments to properly line up your picture you may want to try forcing your refresh rate to the same one you use at your desktop if it's the same resolution you're trying to play your game at. Monitors typically store a set number of image settings based on differences in resolution and refresh rate. That number is based upon the brand and model of monitor you buy.

I think there is something wrong with Graphic Card or Driver since when I connected those monitors with my company HP laptop the resolution are correct at both. Can you please help to advise? Thank you, Regards,Steve
