Access to Internet Explorer Virtual Machines

Q: Access to Internet Explorer Virtual Machines

https://modern.ie/ used to supple several virtual machine downloads to cater for previous Internet Explorer versions, 7-10. They seem to have all been removed and no longer available as the only option is for a single
IE11 and Edge VM.
Here is a GitHub repo https://github.com/magnetikonline/linux-microsoft-ie-virtual-machines which has all the previous download URLs and there is an open issue https://github.com/magnetikonline/linux-microsoft-ie-virtual-machines/issues/14 indicating
that the VMs are non-existent anymore.
I need to download these VMs to test work for clients. I know it's old tech but it's essential for me.
Any idea where to get them from, or where an old archive download may be?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

Let me start with the hardware:

1. my machine is a Getac B300 with a Windows XP Professional 32-bit/Windows 7 Professional 64-bit dual boot.
2. My wife's machine is a Toshiba U500 with Windows 7 Professioanl 64-bit.

Normally, I use the U500 as a hub: I connect it to the internet using a 3G-enabled Sony Ericsson Elm that I control through Sony Ericsson PC Suite 6.011.00* (I have an unlimited connectivity plan.) As soon as the U500 is connected, I set up a WEP-encrypted ad hoc network and connect my B300 (regardless of which system I happen to be booted into) and my wife's iPhone.**

I can do the same if I choose to boot into Windows 7 on my B300 and use that as the hub.

My question however, is as to why I can't get this whole setup to work out with Windows XP. I normally use the exact same way to connect to the internet (Elm and SE PC Suite), and I've attempted to set up an ad hoc network when I'm booted into Windows XP (through Windows and through Intel Proset), and I even managed to get the U500 and my wife's iPhone to connect to the network, but neither machine would get any internet access, even though I made sure to turn on Internet Connection Sharing for the connection.

So I'm beginning to wonder if it's even possible to get it to work with XP (as opposed to 7) being the hub.

*Sorry, but Sony Ericsson PC Companion sucks.

Well, this seems like a case of malware, but given that it has struck both vista machines at the same time, I am starting the thread in the Vista forum.

This morning, I got up and discovered that both of the Vista machines in our 4 machine network, are un-able to access the internet via browser. Strangely, they can access each other, share files, and I can even ping out to google from a command line, but that is as far as it goes. I get a connection error in both IE and Firefox. I can access the internet without issue on my XP laptop which I am presently typing on. It seems odd that whatever is at play affected both machines at the same time, which is why I tend to think malware, but who knows..

When I diagnose Connection problems in IE it tells me that windows did not detect any problems with this computers network connection.

Hi All,
I have established a Virtual Wifi Miniport and would like to share my laptops internet via the Miniport. Whenever I connect my android phone with this access point, it works perfectly for a few minutes and then all of a sudden there is no internet on the phone. The phone remains connected to the laptop hotspot but the internet access is no more there. Now at this point if I disconnect the connection between my phone and the hotspot and then again try to reconnect back again, it wont even connect. The phone will keep on searching and shows connecting status but can never connect. I have tried all sorts of softwares connectify, virtual router, intel mywifi and even tried to create a hotspot from the cmd using netsh command. All the hotspots work in the exact same way intially works perfect but maybe after half an hour internet is gone. I have completed all the steps properly even changed the settings in the laptop adapter with interet access to allow other networks to connect but nothing seems to work. I have a Windows 7 Machine and my wireless adapter is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless N-100 and the drivers are up to date according to windows. I know that its a problem with my laptop/OS or something because my android phone can connect and remain connected( without losing internet ) to the connectify hotspot in my wifi enabled desktop PC.I am breaking my head over this for the past 15 days even formatted my system once but no use. Please help if you can..please!

Hi there,

I don't think you can get any help here for the usage of VMWARE player. You should try the VMWARE player forum for that.

But besides that. Why don't you use Microsoft Hyper-V instead? I use it for all my VM installations and it works really good!

Here is a tutorial on how to install the Hyper-V.

Good luck with it.

Hi,

I am looking to set up some a few virtual machines. I haven't worked with this before, so this is new but I shouldn't need much more than a shove in the right direction.
I have two things I eventually want to do.

First off, what I want to do now, is set up a XP virtual machine inside a 64-bit Vista install on my desktop.

Eventually I want to set up a XP virtual machine inside ubuntu on my laptop, but I don't need to bother with that now.

On my desktop I have 4 GB of DDR2 ram and am running a core 2 duo E6750 @3.5 Ghz so there won't be any issues of resources.
How do I go about setting up the XP virtual machine in Vista?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which free software to use? I had planned on using vmware but that is only because it is the only free one I know of.

Okay this may be an odd question but I can honesty say I can not find the answer for it, possibly because I am the only tool who does it..... so here goes.

I have a VMware windows 7 installation on my computer, that works 100% fine. Now what I do with this machine is try to get viruses on it, then remove them. Ironically it proves to be harder to get them then remove them, but back to the subject at hand. I know there are rootkit viruses that can effect the boot sector of your HDD. So what I want to know is if running a VM, can I get such a virus and have it effect my actual OS? I am assuming NO as the OS is virtualized, along with the hardware. Now that I think about it, its not to hard to remove a virus on a boot sector so I guess this is more of a curiosity then anything else....

A:Question about virtual machines

Some malware are able to recognize virtual environments and keep themselves quiet when they are in a virtual environment, they wait until they are not in a virtual environment anymore.

Example :
You install a malicious screensaver in a VM, but you don't know it's malicious.
Because the screensaver knows it is in a VM, it acts like a normal screensaver.
The user thinks his screensaver is safe and installs it in his real OS.
Once the screensaver is installed and executed, it will do its evil job, like deleting your folder "My Documents".
If the screensaver has a boot-virus and/or rootkit, you are infected.
You can scan the screensaver with an AV-scanner, but AV-scanners aren't foolproof either, especially when it is a NEW malware.

Nothing is safe and malware-writers are also brilliant, at least some of them. The majority of malware-writers are stupid, they are responsible for the large quantity of malware on internet, not the "quality" of malware. I know quality is a bad word, but some malware(-writers) are smarter than others.
Stupid malware-writers copy existing malware and modify this copy a little.

I'm considering VMware for the virtual machine software.

On my physical machine I am running McAffee suite provided as part of my dsl service.

My questions regarding the virtual machine are...

1) do you need an additional antivirus program running on the virtual machine, or would the antivirus/firewall on my physical machine protect the virtual machine.

2) If the answer is you need antivirus on both the physical and virtual machine, will there be any conflicts running the same antivirus program on both machines?
Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions - Carl

Hello,
I need some help connecting multiple Virtual Machines to the internet. I have my main computer which is Windows Server 2008R2 that connects to the home router via the wireless network. My home router's DHCP gives off 192.168.1.XXX IP addresses. My Server has 192.168.1.200 as the static IP address.

I am trying to setup a lab for studying purposes and want to have different subnets for each other server I setup within Hyper-V. I have 4 virtual machines that I want to configure 192.168.0, 192.168.2, 192.168.4, 192.168.6 subnets. When I change the subnets I loose internet.

When I was studying for my 2003 certifications I remember that there was a way to setup the main computer as a RRAS server so it can act as a router to all the virtual machines. 2008 server is a bit different as far goes the UI and I have completely forgot how to do this since it has been years since I have done this.

Can anyone help me get this setup to work? I Want each virtual machine to have it's own subnet and to allow it to access the internet and internal VMs so I can replicate DNS and AD.

Thanks,

A:Solved: Virtual Machines and Different Subnets

I will solve my own question it seems.

1) I created four internal network adapters within Hyper-V.
2) I gave each network adapter the IP address on the subnet I wanted.
- 192.168.0.254
- 192.168.2.254
- 192.168.4.254
- 192.168.6.254
3) I installed the Network Policy and Access Services role within Server Manager
4) I Configured and Enabled Routing and Remote Access
- I chose custom settings and just checked off LAN Routing
5) I expanded the views of the role and the options below, right clicked on General under IPv4 and selected 'New Routing Protocol" and chose NAT.
5) Within the NAT section I right clicked and chose 'New Interface', I then started adding my Network Adapters.
- In my case I have to add 5 things under NAT
- 1) Private Interface connected to Private Network - Network Adapter Chosen 192.168.0.0
- 1) Private Interface connected to Private Network - Network Adapter Chosen 192.168.2.0
- 1) Private Interface connected to Private Network - Network Adapter Chosen 192.168.4.0
- 1) Private Interface connected to Private Network - Network Adapter Chosen 192.168.6.0
- 1) Public Interface connected to the Internet - Make sure you select 'Enable NAT on this Interface' - Also, this is where the Network Adapter I use for the internet on the main server where hyper-V is installed.
6) I assigned each Hyper-V Virtual Machine a NIC card by going to each of their settings and under Network Adapters giving the correct option.

'Ello,

These applications are only some very old games I like all I really need installed is Windows 98SE and Windows XP but I may use it to try out other operating systems as well.

I know of Virtual PC but it doesn't allow 64bit guest operating systems which at the moment isn't a problem but I may want to install one in the future, I don't really like the interface of VMWare and I tried Parallels but it gave an error that it won't install on a 64bit operating system. I was just wondering what others are there that people know of?

I think VMWare is the only intel based software that supports 64-but guests at the moment. Microsoft has been fighting hard in this space recently so I wouldn't be surprised to see the next iteration of Virtual PC support 64-bit guests.

I also think the adoption of Vista x64 will speed the process along. Memory prices are rediculously low and enthusiasts are loading up their machines with 4+ gigs of RAM only to see Vista 32 not recognize it all. I really think the move to 64-bit computing will pick up steam in 2008.

Understand that the virtual machine is separate from your computer, or tries to be. When you're on the virtual machine, try connecting to the internet from inside the virtual machine. If that's not working, the VM software or VM image itself doesn't support it.

Basically, the Page File (Virtual Memory) is what your operating system uses when it runs low on RAM resources.virtual memorypagingThe minimum should be 1.5 times your memory size. The maximum should be, at least, three times your memory. If you continue to have problems, raise the maximum. Keep raising it until you no longer get the message. Then click the Set button.Or, the best solution, you could increase the amount of RAM your system has by buying more, since raeding the hard drive is much slower than RAM.That's how I solved my, low virtual memory, problem.

I've recently installed VPC on my computer and am running an XP client and Windows Server 2003 on two separate virtual hard disks.

The real annoying part is that even if I exit and close the virtual operating systems and VPC altogether I still can't access the net.

I have unplug my router and modem, reconnect and restart my machine to be able to access.

Anyone know what may be causing the problem and a way around this?

Primary Disk: c:\users\heinz\app data\local\microsoft\windows virtual pc\virtual machines\ THEN THE LAST BIT DIFFERS
VM One Temple.vhd
VM Two Windows xp mode.vhd
Now question is - does it matter if both are on system, I use VM two when I start using the VM (works well, though any Spreadsheet I save takes quite a bit of time to save/close, a 5-10 seconds, compared to nearly instant in normal usage on old xp pc)

If I try to delete the VM One (emple.vhd) I get no further, to program selection etc but a screen asks me to reboot etc
Happy to leave both on the system, but maybe this slows down the system unnecessarily, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi!!!

I have Windows Vista Enterpriser 64 bits Edition with 4 GB RAM. I Have
installed Visrtual Server R2 64 bits edition and then I?ve installed the
virtual machines of MOC 6451A- Planning, Deploying and Managing Microsoft
System Center Configuration Manager 2007. When Im trying to start a virtual
machine, i received the error "Not enough memory to start virtual machine".
That?s not true, because I?ve got 2,5 GB free. Anybody can help me?

I can?t specify the memory, because virtual server, for Microsoft Learning
Machines is only the engine. When I?ve finished the installing of the microsoft
virtual machines under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Learning\6451\Drives I can
see the *vmc and *vhd files and I have an executable file with name
"LauncherApplication.exe" inside of C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Learning\6451\Data that launch a Window of Microsoft Learning with a little
windows where I can see the name of the diferent machines with two buttons to
click in "Launch" or click on "Reset". I can reset the machines bacause the
machines are only for academic purposes. This is a characteristic of this

Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Virtual Machines

Microsoft has released new Windows 10 virtual machines on the Developer Center, providing us with an updated arsenal of tools to code without the need for a license.

Specifically, the new virtual machines, which are available in Hyper-V, Parallels, VirtualBox and VMWare versions, come with an evaluation license for Windows 10 Enterprise Anniversary Update that will expire on May 21 this year,.

The new evaluation pack includes the aforementioned Windows 10 image, as well as Visual Studio 2015 Community Update 3 (Build 14.0.25425.01), Windows developer SDK and tools (Build 14393), Microsoft Azure SDK for .NET (Build 2.9.6), Windows UWP samples (Feb 2017 Update), and Bash on Ubuntu on Windows.

The company is also offering a non-evaluation version of the Windows 10 image, but this requires a license for the operating system, so additional costs would be involved. The pack has approximately 20 GB in size, and completing the download takes some time, and so does installation.

The UWP effort
Microsoft?s pack of virtual machines and developer tools are specifically aimed at those who want to join the universal app platform effort and create apps that can run on all Windows 10 devices. This is actually part of Microsoft?s push to bring more developers to Windows 10, as it wants universal apps to address the lack of apps in the Windows Store and thus tackle more than just PCs at the same time.

Hey all,

I was wondering about something I made few attempts, but they all failed.

I work in an 70+ user organization and in order to install new computers I use WDS to push images through the network. Now, obviously it's possible to get a computer and set up images on it all the time, but I wouldn't have the option to have such a PC only for myself, thus I would have to go through hoops to update the image (like, get another PC, install the image, update the image and then push it back into the WDS).

In the past, I attempted to use Virtual PC in order to create an image, however, it failed to run on an actual PC. This time I've got VirtualBox, but the question remains: can I use a virtual machine as an image-creating one? Are there some limitations or steps needed to be done in order to make it work?

TIA.

A:Using virtual machines to create production images

I think its only unidirectional; you can convert a real image into a virtual install but not a real image from virtual because there would be no way to anticipate the hardware abstraction layer requirement.

The only way I know is the option you weren't thrilled about, a clone of the computers you push the image to. Otherwise pushing just the updates through the network to each system wtihout reimaging a master might be possible?

Today, we have updated the Microsoft Edge Dev site with major fixes and new features, including Windows 10 virtual machines with Microsoft Edge and a faster, clearer platform roadmap. With these features, we are excited to remove the ?Beta? tag from Microsoft Edge Dev, and will be redirecting modern.ie to our new home.

Test your site in Microsoft Edge with free Windows 10 virtual machines

Windows 10 virtual machines are now available with the latest updates to Microsoft Edge and the underlying web platform. With this release, we have automated the process we use to create the virtual machines, so future updates will be available more quickly as the platform is updated. By popular demand, we?ll also be supporting new formats for VMs, starting with Vagrant boxes (with VirtualBox) and QEMU. You can expect to see these starting in the coming weeks.

We have also updated RemoteIE to use the latest Microsoft EdgeHTML rendering engine inside Internet Explorer, which gives a very similar rendering experience to testing inside Microsoft Edge. RemoteIE continues to leverage Azure RemoteApp to enable cloud-based testing across platforms without the need to download virtual machines. We are also continuing to work on making Microsoft Edge available via Azure RemoteApp and will provide further updates as we make progress.

Bug fixes and improvements

This release includes substantial improvements to accessibility, including improved markup to make the site and tools work better with ass... Read more

Hi there

Great stuff -- I'll see if I can convert one to VMWARE format. I used QEMU years ago -- thought it had "Died the death" -- when VMPLAYER couldn't CREATE VM's but only PLAY them QEMU was a great free tool in being able to create new VM's for VMPLAYER to work with.

Edit -- VMWARE format IS available in the download. !!!!

Anyway I'll post results of messing around with this piece of software if I can get it to work.

And -- Ms have images as well as for Windows - but MAC and LINUX TOO !!!! So Ms does believe that there is life outside Windows.

Cheers

I was just fairly curious as to find out if Ubuntu 10.10 (32bit) can be loaded onto a "virtual machine"? For recently I have entered the world of virtual machines and drives. I downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and have been using that to install several versions of older Windows Operating Systems, without one single problem.

Now I would like to start dabbling in the world of Linux and Ubuntu and the like. So can I just go ahead and set up a virtual machine as I would do to install an older Windows O.S.? Just making sure the hard drive size is set to a size that Ubuntu likes. For I've seen some information around here that Ubuntu can be loaded onto a CD and ran from there. Also that Ubuntu can be loaded onto a USB flash drive and run from there as well. So why not loading Ubuntu onto a virtual drive on a virtual machine, I would suspect that this can be done, but just want to play it safe first by asking the question.

Thank you to anyone who might offer up an answer or advise here!

A:Ubuntu Desktop Edition 10.10 & virtual machines

I run it virtually all the time without issues at all, but I use Virtualbox for my guest OS requirements.

I'm not sure if MS Virtual PC 2007 will cover Linux installs, but assuming it does it should be fine. Just download the latest ISO and mount it within the virtual console to use the disk.

The Ubuntu setup guide in my signature was produced using Virtualbox to run Ubuntu as a guest OS.

I've been trying to use connectify to use my laptop as a hotspot.
I have an ethernet connection that my laptop connects to and i want to connect my itouch to the internet via wifi.
I installed connectify and it worked just as it says it should, I can even connect my itouch.
But i never get the internet connection with the itouch.
I've checked and my Atheros wireless adapter is supported and everything seems like it should work, but for some reason it doesn't.

Please help. I have a hunch it's maybe a small little thing that's blocking the internet (possibly a windows sharing setting?).

After changing XP Mode's network adapter (in order to get port forwarding working), I found that I cannot access the internet using a browser anymore.

I went from Shared Network to Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller in the Virtual Machine settings, which broke its internet connection completely and gave the "limited or no internet connectivity" message. After going back to Shared Network, when loading any page in any of the virtual machine's browsers (Firefox, IE), the page would remain blank then time out after a while. However, pinging websites using cmd worked in the virtual machine. Using the 'repair' option in XP's Network Connections did not help. Disabling the firewall did not help either.

Also, the Windows 7 host machine's internet is working fine.

How do I fix this situation, without having to start anew with another virtual machine?

A:XP Mode virtual machine cannot access internet

If available, run system restore in XP using a point where Internet worked.
