Strange problem with Wi-Fi extender/LAN Cable- Lenovo Yoga 500 14 B

Q: Strange problem with Wi-Fi extender/LAN Cable- Lenovo Yoga 500 14 B

Hi again. I try to explain this problem: my Lenova connect well with the principal router in my house, but when i try connect her to extender is more common happen two things: the connection be intermitive and that is weird because the extender are be literally in the side by side of the computer or the computer don't connect with that network separatelly. The another dispositives in my house (computer, smartphone) have good connection with this network, and he don´t have problems in another networks (school, coffees ect) some help? The Ethernet Cable is another doubt, and I want to clarify. I have normal cables in my house for PC's but no one fit in the Port and don't found the solution in the Internet... Sorry for these immense questions and thanks for help me in anteception.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I got the following problem: My lenovo yoga 11s (Machine Type Model: 80AB59397858 P/N 59397858) works perfectly fine on battery but when I plug in the cable it usually shuts down within 20-30 minutes, sometimes within 5 minutes (not immideately)I tried to move the cable back and forth -- no, it is not the case, the contact is fine.I also changed thermo glue on the CPUDifferent charger cable didn't helpPlaying around with power settings and software didn't help eitherSystem log is empty -- it shuts down through hardware.Thermal sensors show 60-70C on CPU.Interesting: If I set performance to "balanced", it sometimes hangs with corrupted image on screen -- clearly GPU problem. Since there is no separate graphics adapter, I am thinking about overheating, but thermometer does not agree  Thank you for any participation

I believe you need an adapter like this:

I am not suggesting a particular seller.  I simply searched for micro-HDMI adapter and this was the first one listed.

ANy idea why sometimes the Lenovo yoga wifi doesnt work, but seems to be after i first start up the machine. Then i do a restart and the wifi works fine.. could be faster , but it is ok.  Why do i always have to restart to get the internet to work better?? What is that about?  This is not always , but happens often.  Does the restart do something different than the initial start up from being off?

Hello everybody,I have a slightly obscure problem with my fan which occurred for the first time about a week ago then again twice today.  The problem is that my fan suddenly goes to full speed only to immediately afterward die entirely, then it sounds like he tries to recover but quickly goes to full speed and the whole process repeats. One cycle takes about 5 Sec. and it keeps doing this even if I reboot in between. After quite some repetitions (i guess of order 20-30) he keeps running on the highest stable fan speed for a few minutes and then shuts down, which seems to be indefinite. The first time happened while running Windows whereas the other two times happened within Linux, in neither case high fan speed was required (typing or surfing where all activities). In Linux, i have XSensors installed which allows accessing some fan speed data. It turns out that the full speed bursts are depicted by 65535 RPM which then goes down to 0 RPM. The permanent highspeed state was once at 9500 RPM and the other time at 7800 RPM. It seems that 7800 RPM runs longer than 9500 RPM before it drops to 0 RPM and stays there.  There is nothing specifically which I could identify as an origin of this behavior, but since this is my working machine I am seriously worried. Also the sound it makes in the initial "burst"-phase really is annoying. I really have no clue what to do so any help is welcome. Thanks a lot in advance,Michael

Hello folks, so far I really like the Yoga 720 but I have this really strange problem when I'm drawing on the screen. Every time I draw slowly (and sometimes even when I draw quickly) my lines become jittery and not in the wobbly sense. More in the "leaving-the-road" kind of way. Here is a video proof of my issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyrS63BTJ6AI really want to use this tablet for drawing but this annoys the hell out of me. Is this normal? Is it a driver problem?I already uninstalled and reinstalled the Wacom Pen Driver and I checked the box "Ignore touch input when I'm using pen" in the Windows Ink menu.I'm having the 1080p HD Model of the Yoga 720 15 Inch with the 256 gb SSD. The pen I'm using is the active Pen 2 which feels really nice with the rubber tip. I used all kinds of applications like Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Windows Ink sketch, Sketchable and so on. I have the same problem in all of them. Can anyone please help me? I really like this tablet. Greetings

I replaced the power supply in my hp pavilion and the new cable is not long enough to reach the cd drive from the hd connector, they are in series,is there an extender cable available to reach the cd drive connection?

A:cd drive cable extender

You don't mention the model of Pavilion.

There's two types of power connectors.

Here's an an extension for the older connector: http://www.coolerguys.com/powerext.html

And one for the newer style: http://www.cooldrives.com/8sapocaexmat.html

Or you can use a splitter cable as an alternative.

Most local stores would probably have them for sale too.

Hopefully you bought a good quality power supply.

I currently have a wireless home network. I installed Linux Xandros onto a hard drive and installed it into my sons computer. Unfortunalty, after some researching, no Linux OS's are currently wireless adaptable. Even though I currently have the router in a lower heigth location than it should be because of the cable length, it still works, but I want it back into a higher location for stronger signal strength, and my sons pc is in a location where it has to be. Is there some kind of adapter that will connect to the rj45 connector so additional cable can be added to it?
Thanks,Jim

A:CAT6 cable length extender?

I haven't run into too many Linux Operating Systems that are not Wireless capable. What wireless network card do you have on the Linux computer.

If you really want to run more cable you can go up to 328 feet with Cat 5. If you need multiple computers hooked up to one connection then buy addtional networking hardware. A cheap 4 port switch would be just fine.

Dear Friends;

In my office, a network cable is being in use for a desktop PC and data sends receives without any problem. I have a Dell Laptop and I connect networking cable at many other places (due to meetings) within our mill and every where I face no any problem but when I connect network cable of my office (which works well with Desktop PC) with Laptop, the message “A network cable is unplugged” appears. I replaced the RJ45 connector and rechecked the pin configuration and found every thing ok but even with new connector, problem remained the same.

I installed a “D-Link”, connected Desktop cable to D-link and connected a new cable from D-link to Laptop and found that system was sending the data but not receiving.

Anyone has any idea to resolve this issue?

Hello everyone,

This problem is baffling me, so I imagine that I've missed something simple.

I recently bought a 15m SVGA - SVGA male to male cable.

I am trying to connect my PC to my LCD TV.
Once plugging the cable in, PC nor TV detect a signal, even though the graphics card is set to "dual screen". (Nvidia 7900GS).

I have a much shorter VGA cable which is only 2metres in length so I moved my PC closer so I could hook up my LCD using my older cable.
The signals were successful.

If I then unplug the old cable and try the new one the picture becomes stable, however any changes made through the PC to the display or a reboot forces the signal to be lost.

It's like the new cable cannot initiate the signal itself?
Obviously I do not particularly want to move things around the room just get the PC and TV to talk to each other.

Why does the new cable work after the older cable picks up the signal?

Your help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

A:New SVGA cable problem - strange one

From this site:http://www.scala.com/hardware/dvi-vga-cable.html :

VGA

VGA-Analogue is not going to have as long a range. Using high quality cables I would say that 10 meters would be the maximum for [email protected] There are VGA-Analogue repeater solutions as well that can also permit 10's and 100's of meters of signal--at lower
resolutions--e.g. [email protected] to expand...

So, what I suspect you are experiencing here is that when you have this longer cable attached, the excessive length is preventing your video card from detecting the proper display settings for your display. Even though the connection itself might function, without that critical signaling during the configuration phase, the video card thinks that something is wrong.

How can a cable go bad all of a sudden?

The setup:

One PC connected to the main switch with approx 180ft cat5e UTP cable run.

Problem:

System cannot reach the network without 5 min of tweeking every day. When connected, it stays connected till the system is shut off.
Link lights all on and show activity.
The Network Icon shows connection, but recieves no packets and will not ping.
Sometimes the ping to the gateway will at random show a reply or two of the 4 pings it sends and the rest no reply.

Things I have tested:

Tested the line with another PC with the same problem, but cannot get connected at all unlike the original PC.
Made a new RJ45 connection.
Repunched cable to a new bock on the patch pannel.
Changed the switch port.

A:Solved: Strange Cable run problem

The cable could certainly be damaged. Of course, it could also simply have the cable pairs mis-wired, and that won't show up with simple continuity cable testers. I'd examine both ends of the cable and make SURE that the pairs are properly wired. If that's OK, it's probably either some string electrical field interfering, or the cable has been damaged somewhere along the run.

Hi there,

I recently got a new video card (8800 GTS 512) and it turns out that the location of my PCIE x16 port relative to other components in my computer does not allow me to fit in my video card because of its height dimension and bad x16 port placement on the motherboard.

If I could shift down the motherboard's x16 port 2 cm it would fit in my case - I have plenty of empty space in the bottom of the case.

I have been looking for ways to hook up the 8800 GTS and the only plausible way I have found is to get a PCIe x16 riser flexible cable such as the following: http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/pe...exibleextenderforpciexpressx16bus-p-4354.html

Would a PCIe x16 cable such as the one above cause any problems?
What is the data flow rate limit? Would it be the same as the x16 socket's that is native to my motherboard or would there be a reduction in its' capacity?

Thanks in advance.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi Yorsh,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As you know that laptops are portable computers and their main function is to provide portability. Therefore they run on batteries. When the power cable is not connected the laptop tries to save power so when it runs a program which requires high performance from the hardware, it limits the capability of it so that less power is used which in turn allows the user to use the computer for longer period of time in absence of external power. In simpler words
Higher performance=more power=less battery life Low performance=less power=more battery life which is the basic agenda of laptops.

From a practical perspective, you can go into Windows advanced power management settings and change the way processor and fans behave on battery:

Hope this helps.  Please let me know your findings.

Regards,
Shashi

Hi guys.. Long time no see.. I have a problem with my x220t and need help for somebody who knows hardware side of the things on these laptops.. Here is a puzzle: So basically, my screen was flickering for very long time, it would start randomly and pressing a area around LCD cable connector or rotating the screen would cure it. I would usually put something between connector of cable and keyboard like a piece of thick paper or plastic and it would work as a temporary solution for over a year.. Problem got a bit irritating and I figured cable is not expensive so I should order and replace it. First ordered wrong cable from normal X220 without noticing. Cable is physically the same but doesn't have 3rd wire branching for camera. I connected it anyway because it fits into connectors but laptop doesn't start at all. When disconnecting the cable laptop starts.. At this point I've already completely destroyed my old cable , it just fell apart , wires seperated from connector etc.. So I ordered exact same cable on ebay by same number... All of the cables on ebay by that number say they are for x220t x230t etc. and look the same.. When cable arrived I hooked it up and laptop starts, but no screen at all.. By looking closely into the screen I could see backlight working but it seemed weaker , by pressing fn+ brightness + it would get stronger but it seemed weaker than usual, but can't say for sure because I was outside on a daylight( covered screen though) .. By pointin... Read more

Just booted up my old Lenovo Yoga 12 from a few years ago. I erased all partitions and installed Windows 10 from an ISO file on a USB flash drive and it's been freezing constantly. Sometimes to the point that it's unusable. I've wiped and reinstalled 4-5 times and still keeps freezing so I wiped and reinstalled Windows 8.1 from and ISO file and it still freezes. Once it freezes, everything locks except for the cursor. I can't open or close anything or even use CTRL-ALT-DEL to pull up task manager. Anyone with any thoughts on this? At first I suspected it was the OS but now trying 2 different OS's and still freezing I suspect it could be a hardware issue? Totally lost and don't know where to proceed with this.

Hello! I'm having a rotatation problem - the screen doesn't rotate itself automaticly on Win10 - I actually have to turn on and off the auto-rotate button to do the rotation - but it's not the cause right now.  After that I decided to update the BIOS in order to eliminate that problem (at least I hoped for that) - so I downloaded a file from Lenovo site (bacna0ww). It updated itself but it didn't actually turned off the computer (the closing screen turned on for a second and got back to my desktop), so I had to turn it off by myself. After that it got updated (shortly saying) and then the "boot menu" appeard with a boot device to choose - which is my SSD (nothing else). I can choose the device by clicking enter but nothing happens. Screen flickers for a moment and got back immiedietly to the same boot menu with a SSD to choose as a boot device.  I was able to boot it by setting "legacy boot" and turning off UEFI by it - but why it actually happend? Can I turn it back as it was before? I tried installing the older BIOS version (it installed with an automatic restart without a problem) but it didn't help. The "boot menu" on UEFI still appears and still holds me back, so I can't boot by simply choosing my SSD and clicking enter on it. Will you be able to help me? Moreover - the auto rotation still doesn't work.

we've dealt with these problems before, unfortunately this time we cannot find the onekey recovery for this particular model.  ive scoured the net and come up null.  basically the system image and recovery image is corrupted on the msata ssd.  regular recovery media will not detect the ssd nor will the bios.  the OS partition is intact and not corrupt.  ive tried rebuilding the bcd to no avail.  normally we can generally get a system image from the manufacturer and backup files and reinstall via image, but Lenovo refuses to issue a recovery as the warranty expired on Jan 1st 2016.  So basically the customer is out a pricey computer because lenovo will not provide a recovery, even with serial and proof of purchase.  Traditional reinstall will not work either as it needs to be flashed via an image.  i find it to be ridiculous as the customer has no recourse to correct the issue.  i have verified the ssd is functioning correctly via an external adapter that I use to work with msata/m.2/mpcie etc.  Im at a loss here on what to do as Lenovo is zero help.  Does anyone here have the recovery for the yoga 2 pro please and thank you.

Hi Rower,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Open Device Manager and uninstall the WLAN 802.11 driver "Place a check on the Delete driver software for this device ". The hit on scan for Hardware Changes.
Delete the driver again until it does not show you a check box for deleting driver software then Restart the computer.

Now install this
Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 8.1
Then try reconnecting again.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

you may have the codecs on the desktop but not the extender, the extender is the device playing the files, not your desktop, all your desktop is doing is streaming it to the extender. to fix this, you will need to find software to decode the files and play them streamed on the fly, i used to use this software to play every type of file on my 360, before the update to play avi files came out, and it still works, give it time to decode the files first and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Hi, I've been using my new laptop for 2nd week and when I speak with someone in Skype or Facebook they complain that they first start to hear me and then the volume becomes lower and lower and they start to hear some sounds and sometimes my voice dissapears at all. One time I was recording a video of myself for an interview and the sound of the video was so low when i was listening to it that I barely heard myself even with 100% sound volume. Did somebody have the same problem?
