Program that can show ram usage in system tray?

Q: Program that can show ram usage in system tray?

I am looking for a program that can show RAM usage in system tray in a way that Core Temp is showing the cpu temperature in the tray.

Do you know such a program?

Preferred Solution: Program that can show ram usage in system tray?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello Dylan, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you like, you could use the Volume Mixer shortcut from the tutorial below to make it easier to open directly. You could pin the shortcut to the taskbar, or use where you like.

I was wondering where all my hard drive space has gone today, and I wondered if a program that could show you what was on the hard drive existed. Kind of like a pie chart of your hard drive - each segment belonging to different categories.
Does something like this exist? It would be great to know where all the space has gone so I can delete some rubbish.

How can one show the date and time in the system tray having the small icons enabled:

A:How show the date in the system tray having the small icons enabled

The reason that you do not get the date showing is because the taskbar is thinner when using the small icons. However, if you unlock the taskbar (right click the taskbar to access the menu) you can expand it so that it is effectively two rows, the date and time will now show.

Hi

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I recently had a XP defender 2010 trojan and after removing it with MBAM (note i got this trojan more than once) i noticed some issues with my pc

Im running windows XP Home edition Service Pack 3

In network connections, you can right click on Local area connection and on the menu I cannot check the status. It just doesn't do anything. No error or anything. Also my network connection no longer shows up in the system tray even though i have the option checked when i right click on network connections.

Also when i try to disable my connection, (im running a usb connection through a netgear router the ethernet is conencted to another pc btw this error happens for both connections) and connect to my ethernet (this is becoz i copy files from my pc to xbox via ethernet cable) i would have to restart my pc to be able to connect and when i finsihed with that, i would have to restart it again, becoz when i go to network connections and try to enable the connection nohting happens and it doesnt connect to the internet without me rebooting the pc

Overall its not a big issue, but id still like it to be addressed,

Any help is appreciated

Again sorry if this is the wrong forum

I think some registry may have been affected.

A:cant see status of Local Area Connection and doesnt show in system tray

Uninstall whatever non-Windows security applications (firewall, security suite, anti-virus, etc.) you have, and then run the Removal Tool is one is supplied. You can reinstall it/them after running the following repairs and testing.

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

It's kind of hard to explain, but I'll do my best. When I turn on my computer and it goes to the GUI, the internet connection icon on the system tray has an 'X' on it for about one minute. During this time I cannot access anything online that involves administrator privileges. However, since I don't have firefox setup to run as administrator, I'm able to browse online even though the internet icon still has an 'X' on it. Once the 'X' finally turns into, the world, I'm able to access online things that require administrator privileges, ie. ventrilo. I'm not sure why this is happening; it all began when I connected my wireless HP printer to my router, it caused my router to stop working and I had to buy a new router. Before the other router broke, I was still having these problems with the 'X' for a long time. I switched my printer to connect to my computer instead of wirelessly hoping to a void this problem, but it still exists. Can anyone help?

Kinda baffled on this one all...

Pics attached:
Network icons in system tray show no connection, yet local and internet connections work fine and are perfectly accessable....
This happens both hardwired, and wireless... with three different brands of wireless adapters.
Rosewill, netgear and TP-link....
Tried with several drivers different drivers, included MS ones.
Also tried with and without the adapters manufacturer wireless software....same result of incorrenct MS icon... granted the manufacturer icon would report correctly...figures

Seen this before on a friends win 7 machine a few months back and didnt think anything of it...

My rig has a fresh win 7 x64 install, this network icon issue occurred both before, and also after windows updates, so that's pretty much ruled out too...and not a single piece of software or system mod was done before I established connectivity and seen the erroneous icons.... bashing head right about now....

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Icons in my system tray keep unhiding themselves, usually on restart / log off (I am certain that I am doing it right) is there a program that will give me better systray control so that these icons will stay put? Also some icons which I want to see keep hiding themselves but that's not really a big problem.

A:Better System Tray Control Program?

When you say unhiding themselves do you mean that you right click on them and click "close" or "exit" or whatever and they're gone. Then on a system restart they're back again?
If you do mean the above, then you need to do the following:
-Click on "Start"
-Click on "Run"
-then in the "open" box type msconfig and press enter
-Then in the msconfig box click on the startup tab
-All the checked items in this list are what starts when your PC starts and hence the reason for your system tray icons.
-So basically untick the boxes next to anything you don't want to start when your PC starts.
NOTE: Leave anything you are unsure about ticked and post back with them and i'll tell you whether you should untick them or not.

Sorry if i got the wrong end of the stick.

I have an existing DOS program that I would like to appear in the system tray on boot up. Is there a way to have it load into the system tray, or does the program itself have to be programmed to appear there?

I have seen several freeware programs that will place my program into the system tray, but only within the freeware itself. I don't seem to be able to have it boot up and running my program automatically. In those programs it seems you have to click on it to get it running. When I exit the program, it removes it from the freeware - and then it is no longer in there on the next boot up.

What I want is for the program to run when the computer is booted - and then I would have the option to let it continue running or I can exit it, if I choose to not let it run. And then next boot up, repeat the process.

Edit---> I should add, I have no problem getting my program into the Task Bar and running as mentioned. Several different ways. But I specifically want it in the System Tray.

What I'd like is for a program that normally appears in the system tray to show in the taskbar at all times it is running so i can easily see it and use the exit functions etc.
Specifically for Steam - (X) minimizes to system tray and hides activity in the task bar. I don't mind if this results in 2 icons showing (1 for an active window and 1 for the process) I know you can do the same from system tray for this particular program, but I just don't have the habit to look there for anything other than system background applications.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 and am comfortable tinkering with registry and system files if needed.

So the questions are:
1/ Can a system tray icon be permanently moved to the taskbar applications area?
2/ If not, can a background process be assigned a taskbar icon when active?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Hey, how would I make it so that a program does not go to the taskbar, and instead runs in the background? For example, if a program minimizes to the system tray, I would like it so that it "goes to the system tray" but does not show, even if you expand it. Another way this can be described, is that I want it to behave like explorer.exe

Also, How would I also make it so that if someone attempted to close that program, it would automatically open up again? Is there anything I can do to do this?

I've tried doing it this way (logged in as an admin user) but when another using logs in, the setting does not apply do them and the notification is still present.

Is there another way to do this, so the change has a system wide effect?

OS is Windows 8
If it helps, the program I want to do this for is Input Director (very handy tool, but I don't want students to be able to simply close it from the system tray).

Welcome to TSG!

First, don't play at work and you won't need to hide it.
Seriously though, why do you need to hide it?
Are you trying to hide the whole game or the HUD?
You can hide the whole task bar if that will get around your boss or whoever.

Did some reading and seems there are several bugs out there for the newer 1.0 version.
There is a chance that someone just forgot to program that feature. Once the game takes focus it just won't let go.

I don't know programming but for those that do, the wiki page says;
Kerbal Space Program is written in C# and uses the Unity engine.Click to expand...

if that will help with a specific program.

After all this research I may actually look into playing this one, looks neat. Lots of bugs to consider though.
Hope you find a sneaky solution, Happy gaming!

Hey,

I'm having a bizarre problem with Vista Home 32 bit which suddenly appeared overnight. I put my notebook to sleep the day before, and when I powered it back on this morning, it was on the black & white boot up menu saying the notebook and crashed and had to restart.

I opted to boot windows normally but it kept restarting. Same problem with safe mode.

I tried to repair the installation with the installation disc but that didn't work.

Got to System Restore, tried to restore a previous point, but that failed.

I rebooted again, and miraculously it booted up to the desktop. But I've noticed a few major problems:

1. The program folder in the start menu is empty

2. The system tray has missing icons, most notably network connections

3. A few directories in C:\ are missing . Am sure I didn't delete them.

4. Many applications like MS Office or Adobe Acrobat are missing / have broken links and therefore do not work.

I have 2 user accounts on the notebook and both have similar problems.

When I boot up in Safe Mode, the program folder has a few applications listed, but the other problems remain.

System Restore doesn't work. It returns an error message saying a file's missing or something like that.

I feel something's corrupted but I don't even know how to begin searching for a solution to the problem since the symptoms are all over the place!

Would appreciate any help!

hi there!

I heard there was some way to show the seconds on the tray's clock. Obviously I'm not talking about using external programs. I've searched the Control Panel, goggled a bit.. but nothing. In the Regional and Language Options in Control Panel, in the Regional Options tab, clicking "Customize..." and then in the Time tab there's a Time format field, but it's already H:mm:ss, but the clock doesn't seem to obey to that H:mm:ss format.

I don't believe Microsoft hasn't give us a way to change it, even if in a dark, wet and hard to find corner in the registry, or whatever... we have 3+ GHz processors with tons of ram, so the "resources eater" excuse no longer applies!! [BigGrin] [Wink]

I've been using Comodo for years, all throughout my XP years until I switched to Win7 a couple months ago, but have been getting frustrated with its frequent 100% cpu usage with Windows 7. I'm now working on switching over to the built-in Win7 firewall instead since I think it'll meet my needs just fine with (hopefully) fewer issues.

I currently have the next-to-useless network icon in my tray at the moment, but is there some way to enable an icon for the firewall itself, and maybe shows up/down traffic (like Comodo would do)? I'm basically just looking to have some indicator that the firewall is running for peace of mind, maybe with a bit of functionality as well.

Thanks,

A:How to show Win7 firewall icon in tray?

There's really nothing I can think of, other than the Action Center which already monitors the status of your firewall (and would immediately alert you if the firewall were turned off for some reason).

I think you can rest assured that the Windows firewall is active and doing its job.

As for monitoring network traffic, there are various gadgets that do the job nicely. Here's a very nice one: http://addgadget.com/network_meter/

Just to clarify I don't need a program that minimizes windows to the tray, I need something that shows even open windows on the tray
Thanks for the help

Hi guys

I apologize if this is not the correct section. It's not really a problem as such I'm just looking for something. It looks like a little 3d quicklaunch tool/shelf/tray to launch the program shortcuts. I don't know if it's an option I need to enable on windows 7 or it's something I need to download.

Please help

Not sure exactly what it is you're looking for. Is it a replacement you want?

Many people use this I'm told. I Personally don't use these kind of things so if this isn't what you're looking for........

Hey guys,

In my system-tray, there are several 'programs' or 'services' or 'drivers' or whatever running, including Skype and Bluetooth Devices.

I would like to know where these programs/services are located. Obviously for Skype, I know the location. But I know it because I installed it. Now I would like to learn the location through the system-tray. In the case of Bluetooth, I do not know the location of the program/service, and it does not seem to be listed in the Task Manager. A similar argument can be made for the program/service/whatever controlling the volume, for example.

Check in Program Files and the System32 folder. You can get a clue if you look into the startup tab of msconfig.

People,

I'm running Windows 98SE and I use Ghost 2003
extensivly to make updated Image files of my C
Drive in case of a screw-up.

I write Batch files to automate the process so
I can do other things while the Image is made and
CRC checked.

With my latest Batch file, I tell Ghost to burn
the Image to a CD, do the CRC check of the Image,
re-load Ghost, create another Image file to my G
Drive and CRC check THAT Image too.

The only "Fly in the Ointment" is that after
burning the CD Image, Ghost makes the CD Tray
automatically open and If I'm not RIGHT THERE to
close it, the automatic CRC check won't take place
and the whole process comes to a stop.

Soooo... I need a DOS program that I can tell my
Autoexec.bat file to trigger to automatically re-close
the CD tray right when it is needed.

Anybody know of such a DOS program?

I would like to be able to monitor my cpu usage and physical ram usage in the task bar, much like how windows 7 has a desktop gadget.
Google search has told me to use task manager, and to check the "hide when minimized" option, and it'll display the square green and black meter.
But for some reason when I tried to add a shortcut to task manager to my startup folder, that little graph never shows up anymore.

Also in the past, when I installed windows media center on my desktop, there was a little icon added that was black/green/yellow/red that monitored cpu usage. I can't seem to find that..
So does anyone know of a program that can monitor cpu usage AND physical ram? I'd appreciate it.

A:Show cpu and ram usage in taskbar?

Goto C:\Windows\System32 and right click the taskmgr.exe and create a shortcut.

Cut and paste that on your desktop.

When you activate it and then minimize it, you get the little green icon in the Task bar.

Hello dioskilos, A tip of the hat to noahdfear for this fix. Print out these instructions as we will need to shutdown every window that is open later in the fix.Download SmitRem and save the file to your desktop. Double click on smitRem.exe and then click on Start. When it is done, click on the OK button. You should now have a folder called smitRem on your desktop.Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:Restart your computerAfter hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appearSelect the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode. When your computer has started in safe mode and you see the desktop, close all open Windows.Open the smitRem folder on your desktop and double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool.Follow the prompts on screen and wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish. When the tool is finished, it will will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or the partition where your operating system is installed. Examining that log should show that the infection was cleaned.Reboot your computer back to normal mode.Click on the Start button, then click on All Programs (or Programs), and then locate the SpywareStrike folder and right-click on it. Select the option to delete that folder. Post a fresh Hijackthis log, the smitfiles.txt log, and tell me how your computer is running.

Hey all,

I have to take medication twice a day, and I tend to forget to take it. Now, I'm always at my computer, when I'm not working, so in the past I always set up outlook to give me notifications twice a day that I needed to take my meds.

Since having to do a clean install of vista, I'm having some problems getting outlook (the whole of office actually) to install properly. The only thing which really works is word, which is basically all I need, apart from the notification thingy of outlook. Also, in the past I noticed that outlook was kind of eating up some resources, and caused some problems if I just left it running all the time. As I use gmail, I didn't have it set up with a mail account, and it kept asking me to set it up, at least twice a week. Anyways, I would prefer not to use outlook anymore.

So right now I'm temporarily using windows calender (or agenda, as it's called in the dutch version), but it can't be minimized to tray. Now, it has the advantage of giving me a notification even if I haven't turned it on. Unfortunately though, it only does so once. If I close the program after I've received a notification, it then no longer notifies me for the next time I need to take my meds.

So I was wondering if anyone knows a (preferably free) program which can give me 2 notifications per day, at preset times. The program needs to not take too many resources, and needs to minimize to tray.

If anyone knows anything, please let me know.

Hello,
I somehow got a Spydawn system alert popup virus after downloading codecs from the 'net thinking it was safe, i was wrong. I knew i shouldn't have trusted the download but did it anyways.
I managed to get rid of some items that were sent to my desktop plus the system alert that was in my control panel-add/remove programs. I ran ewido, adware, spybot and smitfraud, it doesn't say smitfraud fix..? I even did all of this in safe mode too, but the system alert popup is still flashing in the bottom right corner but now i can not access internet explorer...can't make a connection to the internet.

I don't see anything referring to spydawn in the log.

My Hijackthis log displayed these files that appear to be part of my problem.
I have no internet connection so i can't show you the complete log unless i copy all of it word for word...which i did for just these particular ones that seem suspicious.

Hello to whomever responds to this thread. This is the first time I've used one of these help forums and my knowledge of computer lingo is limited, but I'd be greatful if you could help me with this problem.

A little while ago I downloaded an application which turned out to be a 'trojan', or so I believe. Upon opening it I received an error report, and my antivirus program (Symantec) informed me that several items with .trojan in their name had been detected and deleted. I was also advised to reboot my computer, and after doing so I became aware of a little red shield icon in my system tray. Clicking it brings up a question which reads:

"Would you like to update your security software and download System Live Protect?"

I have not clicked yes because I believe this may be a problem. Furthermore, whenever I open Internet Explorer, there is an error report: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I am unsure as to whether these two problems are related, but that is my suspicion. Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks for reading
