Graphics Card update to AMD R7 240 - Vostro 460 Mini Tower - NO VIDEO SIGNAL!

Q: Graphics Card update to AMD R7 240 - Vostro 460 Mini Tower - NO VIDEO SIGNAL!

Hi
I have a Vostro 460 MT from Dell.
The Specs:
i5-2400
8GB RAM
320GB HD
Stock PSU - 350W

I had a NVIDIA GT 210 card in previously which I sold and bought an R7 240 to upgrade with. When plugging in the R7 240 and booting up. I get NO VIDEO SIGNAL. NO BIOS SPLASH SCREEN etc.
NOW if I take the card out and use the onboard VGA it works fine. The NVIDIA GT 210 worked fine too.

Why does this card not work? Is there a solution to my problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi out there to Vistax64. I am a recent XP to Vista user. I have a Vostro 200 mini tower (specs below) that has been running XP pro for the last few years - couldn't stand the GUI anymore lol - so I installed Vista HP and am very happy with the new interface and features. After tweaking some, the desktop appears from cold start in 30 seconds or so and almost everthing runs as snappy as it did before with XP. But the task manager is showing an average use in physical memory of 1.17 gigs, CPU usage is higher, and some, not all, internet pages scroll slowly e.g. Yahoo news pages, Hearts of Space etc. where as they were fine before. Everthing else on the internet, including this site, works well - though a few installs like Starry Night Enthusiast and a John Deere farm game are slower.

My question is this: Would installing a seperate video card give me better all-around performance or would another gig of ram do the trick? And what brand/type of video card do you folks recommend?

Intel Core2 Duo E4500 @ 2.3ghz
2 Gig of Kingston RAM
Intell G33 Express Chipset (on motherboard)
80 Gig WD SATA Hard Drive
Seasonic 350w PSU

Thanks for the opportunity to have my questions answered and I'm looking forward to cruising the site here!

A:Video Card For Dell Vostro 200 Mini Tower

Windows will allot 50% of your ram by default, for when you need them programs. Remember, rams fastr than hard drive, and why have all that ram and not use it.

For your power supply, a nvidia 430/440 or an ati/amd 6450, maybe get away with a 6550... Seasonics are quality.

The slowdown is probably because Vista is a bit more of a beast than xp, and graphics can be a bit more hefty.

i have a Dell Vostro Mini Tower with the following specs:Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
4GB RAMIntel(R) HD GraphicsI have ran a System Requirements check and it says I have 2048MB of Video RAM.  i would like to upgrade this to 4GB if possible.  would anyone be able to recommend a card that is compatible with my computer?I understand the wattage of my power supply matters also, would anyone know what this is?Thanks in advance

A:Upgrading Video Card on Dell Vostro 270 Mini Tower

The 2GB you are referring to is how much system ram is being given to the onboard Intel GPU video to use. You cannot increase that to 4GB. But you can add a discrete PCIe x16 video card. The Vostro 470 has a 300w power supply. So that will limit you as to which video card you can use. The two video cards that we shipped on this model were =
YG17P Nvidia GeForce 640GT 1GB67V2J Nvidia GeForce 620GT 1GB
Or you could remove our power supply and install a higher wattage power supply and then get a better video card.

Ok so I just recently got a Dell optiplex GX 755 PC that has-

I'm posting this here to see if anyone knows mainly what graphics card i could get that would make my PC gaming friendly. It doesn't have to be the most amazing stellar quality card out there since iv had (some) people tell me that you cant upgrade these PCs much. But just some good quality advice on the subject and maybe a recommendation on what card brand to get as well as the specs for it. Also a recommendation for a video card would be greatly appreciated as well. Sorry for my ignorance on on the subject, i am new to the PC world. I ended up having to get this computer in a pinch because I am a small time graphics design artist and my laptop died, and I had orders coming in. I'm not looking for a quick fix to the problem so even if anyone has a solution that may take a bit or quite a few steps to get underway, the help is still greatly welcomed! I am hoping if its at all possible to make a good situation out of this and maybe build this PC to fit my needs. Thank you to anyone who can help!

I have two Optiplex 755's that I have upgraded with 8gb RAM, faster processors (from suggestions on this site) and SSD drives.  I have Win 7 64 bit on one and win 10 64 bit on the other.  They both have BIOS revision 22A and the latest chipset drivers that I can find here.  They both  seem to be running just fine, with no bangs in Device manager.  I wanted to upgrade the video card to one that would support 4K resolution on my new Samsung TV.  I found what I think is the lowest power card made that will do this, the XFX card using the Radon RX460 graphics processor.  I installed it and got a code 43.  I can not find the specifications for the 755  mini tower power supply.  This card needs 400 watts.
if, as I suspect, the PS is too wimpy, and cannot be changed out because it is proprietary, does anyone know of a graphics card that will work and still support 4K resolutions?
Thanks, Steve

A:Optiplex 755 Mini tower throws code 43 for new graphics card

Be careful - many of the newest generation of Radeon and GeForce cards require a system with a UEFI firmware your system does not have.
The power supply in the 755 minitower will not be anywhere near 400W -- but the lack of UEFI will render the power requirements a moot point.

Hi TechSpot Forums!

I own a Dell Optiplex GX280 Mini-Tower PC, and am seriously considering buying a graphics card for it.

My question to you is, which would best be compatible with my specs?

System Specs:

Dell Inc. OptiPlex GX280
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
2552 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
500.10 GB HDD

Current Video Card:

Name: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
DAC Type: Internal
Approx. Total Memory: 128.00 MB
Current Display Mode: 1400 x 1050 (32 bit) (60GHz)

Does installing a graphics card mean you can achieve higher resolutions on your LCD monitor? That is partly the reason I will be purchasing one.

Thanks for any info or suggestions,

~ TomHax

Hi,

I would like to upgrade the graphics card in my Optiplex 990, can anyone please let me know if there are any recommended PCI / PCI express cards that are known to be compatible with the slot power rating of the system board.

The PSU is not an issue as I upgraded the shipped 240W PSU for a Corsair HX650 with modular cabling so I have got enough juice for the card. Its the motherboard slot rating and any other factors that will impact on choice of upgrade card that I am not sure about. I tried to locate some documentation on the support section of the site but kept getting error messages (servers screwed up on weekend?)
If there is a technical document that gives the ratings for the PCI slots and what can be shoved into them I would be grateful for a link?

Thx

A:Optiplex 990 Mini Tower - Options To Upgrade Graphics With PCI Card?

You need to get a PCI Express x16 video card not a PCI.  If you have upgraded to a 650 watt corsair, then you should not have any limitations when you install a PCIe X16 video card.  It should configure to provide 75 watts and additional watts can be provided through the PCIe power cables on the power supply.

Hello everyone.

i know a regular card is too big. What is one of the best 100 dolalr or below gfx cards that are low profile and can fit into mini tower PCs? The slot can be the regular PCI 2.0

Thanks guys

A:Solved: Best budget Graphics card for mini tower form factor?

The biggest problem with OEM PC's is that the power supplies aren't typically up to the task of an addon card. So it's generally recommended to replace the power supply as well. With this being a mini-tower, I wouldn't be surprised if it does not use a standard sized power supply, so that is likely not an option.

If you want to simply try a new card anyway, your options will be limited by the card size. There isn't much of a selection of low profile cards. Find the latest generation chipset which fits your budget.

Vostro 200 Mini Tower tries to start, shuts down, then repeats until the power button is pressed to stop the cycle.
The power button is steady amber
The blue drive activity light turns on
MOBO light is on
All fans (CPU, GPU, PSU, Case) are working
Video card removed and reseated
Memory modules removed and reseated
PSU connector to MOBO reseated
CMOS battery replaced
All connectors feel solidly connected, yet there seems to be no power to the monitor or the keyboard.
I've disconnected power, drained residual power and reconnected the power.  The cycling continues.
I would appreciate some other suggestions on what I can try (like - why the monitor and keyboard are not receiving power from the computer).

Thank you.

The PSU could be fine, I found it best to test with a 'Known' working unit.
My thoughts are, is it worth, spending money on a 9+- year old system?
But a Dell OEM refurbished/used motherboard can be purchased for $24.99 + S&H from Here:

I have a Dell Vostro 230 Mini Tower, and it currently has the Intel Pentium E6500 processor. I would like to upgrade to something better, because my current processor does not meet the minimum requirements of some games I would like to play. I was wondering which processors I could upgrade to? I know that the new processor has to fit the socket on the motherboard, but I don't know how to find out what socket my current motherboard has, or even what motherboard it is.
I would also like to know, if I don't upgrade the processor, but instead get a new motherboard, can I get any motherboard, and plug it in, and will it come with a new processor, or will it have to fit my current processor? Does upgrading the motherboard make much difference to the CPU speeds if I don't actually upgrade the processor?
I am running Windows & SP3, DirectX 11, with 4GB RAM, and i also have an ATI Radeon 5670 HD Graphics Card, and a 300W power supply.
Would I need to get a new power supply if I upgraded the motherboard or processor?

I have what seems to be, from looking at the forums, a fairly common problem with installing a new graphics card. I have been using the on board graphics on my computer since my previous card failed. This was a Nvidia PCI-Express card and when new worked as soon as it was plugged in and the drivers installed.
I have just tried fitting an Asus EAH5670 PCI-Express 1Gb GDDR5 card but I cannot get a video signal to the monitor on booting up either from the new card or from the motherboard video socket. I have updated the bios without getting it to work. I have tried every combination of settings in the bios with the on-board graphics disabled and drivers removed but with no success. All the Nvidia drivers were removed when I had to do a clean reinstall Windows XP some time ago. As soon as the new card is removed, the computer starts up normally with the onboard graphics.

My computer is as follows:
Motherboard: Intel D915GAV with the latest bios
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 520 2.80GHz
Memory: 2560MB
On-board Graphics: Intel 82915G Express Chipset Family
Power Supply: Eagle DR-B400ATX - 400W, 3.3V - 28A, 5V - 4 0A, 12V - 17A

The reason you can't find the G310 to buy is that Nvidia made it only available to what is known the OEM channel, basically means it can only be bought from system builders (Dell, HP, etc). Spec and build-wise the G210 and G310 are identical, so in what way does it not fit? If it is the back plate bracket that is too long the card should have come with a second shorter one (2 of them actually) like the ones shown here,

I'm troubleshooting a clients computer that does not get a display on power up.  The user was turning the computer off and back on until the video finally displayed.
Steps Taken:
Since the computer was powering on and I did not hear any beep codes and the logs only showed unexpected shutdown (powering on and off).  I enabled remote desktop and had the user call me the next time it happened.  Sure enough I could remote in the the computer but they had no display.  Remote restart typically not resolve it.  If I remotely shutdown and the user powers back on it typically did resolve the issue.
This is a dual monitor configuration - 1 DVI (primary) and 1-VGA (secondary)  There are no adapters in place.  The original on-board was using a display port to DVI adapter.Windows 7 Pro
This configuration has worked fine for about 3 years.  This all began about 2 months ago.

A:Graphic card for 3 monitors for Optiplex 790 mini tower

Best suggestion is to buy a new computer. The 790 is from the Vista-/Win 7 era and comes with a small power supply and a tiny case that is hard if not impossible to upgrade.

Hello All, I am new to the DELL world with a recent Optiplex 3050 mini tower PC, which is in need
of a wifi solution. This machine did not include wifi.
Any recommendations on a good/very good wifi card for this machine?
I have searched Intel wifi cards and may be interested in the 8265 ac with the desktop kit...
I will be installing this card myself, so any insight you all may have would be helpful.

Is it possible to enable the onboard graphics card on these computers in addition to using the graphics card that was added? I'm setting up these computers with multiple monitors and I would like to have one monitor using the displayport on the graphics card that was added, and the other connecting to the onboard graphics card through VGA. Please let me know it:A. This is possible.B. The steps to enable both. Thank you.

A:ThinkCentre M910t Tower - Enable onboard graphics in addition to graphics card

It was possible with previous generations of systems using this procedure:  Enabling multiple monitor support: ThinkCentre Edge 71 - M900.   It could be that the document hasn't been updated, if you could give it a try, and let us know if it works, or post with screen shots of what is different.  Ty.

Hello,I can't seem to find specific information about this pc related to this topic. I have a client that wants to have a hdmi port and dual monitor installed. I looked everywhere in the bios settings, I tried using a usb-to-vga adapter & and vga, dvi-d cable & vga (this mirrors both monitors, but cannot extend the display). When I changed the settings on the bios to use the built in graphics, it gives me the option to enable multiple monitors but cannot use my pcie graphic card. If i select to use the pcie graphic card, i cannot use the built in graphic ports or the usb-to-vga adapter (it does not see the other monitor) and also if I use the dvi adpater and the vga it mirrors the display. I'm guessing that the bios does not support dual graphic cards but thought of asking here. The reason the client wants this is to be able to connect a projector using hdmi and to have dual monitors. Any information will be greatly appreaciate it. Thank you.

This is my first time posting.

I just bought an ATI Radeon R4350 graphics card. I followed the (brief) installation instructions, but received "No signal" on two separate monitors, both of which had no problems previously. After reading some forums, I though I should disable the onboard graphics first, so I backtracked by removing the new graphics card and returning my monitors to their original ports. However, after returning to my original setup, I still got "No signal". I've already reset the BIOS, but still no results.

Are you sure that your video card is compatible with the motherboard ?

Hi all,

My PC is :

4524e3u LENOVO M91P CORPORATE TOWER CI7-2600  3.4GHZ/16GB/320GB , full tower

I just bought it used and installed my old power supply (Enermax Noisetaker 420W), as the one that came with this PC sucks. I installed my old video card (x1900xtx), and it booted fine. But unfortunately it won't support Overwatch (crazy I know...).

I want to know the best possible video card I can purchase for this PC ($100-$210, I'm all about value), for gaming purposes.
I was thinking about

XFX Radeon R7 370 995MHZ 4GB Dual Dissipation GDDR5 HDMI 2XDVI PCI-EXPRESS 3.0 Video Card

, but I read some other threads related that some people's PCs wouldn't even boot with a R7 card.

My PSU does have an additional 6pin power supply.

Someone else said in another thread that the best video card could only be Nvidia 750 Ti. I hope this is not true.

Ultimately, I want to play Overwatch.

Thanks all!

Hello guys  So I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre  M92p Tower (machine type 2992).  I recently obtained a MSI R7 250 2GD3 OC and am currently trying to install it. I followed the manual and removed the proper back plates and opened the living mechanism. However  when i try to fit the card in it is just a couple millimeters off and it won't slide down.  Am i doing something wrong or is my card incompatible with my case?  Thank you

I see similar questions for M9X models, but not M90P tower.  I have the M90P (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883798325).   I installed the XFX R7 360 graphics card, but it didn't work.  I'm next going to try the XFX R7 250 Low Profile Ready card: (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150713) My question is, how can I know what graphics cards will work with this machine?  It seems to have the necessary slots and space (it is barebones).  I also have a Corsair 750W PSU in there.  The BIOS is set to use PCIE first, and then PGP for priority order. Thanks!

A:Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

Well, I installed the R7 250 today, and it fits just fine.  However, the computer will not boot up now.  It turns on, the fans spin, and there is nothing further.  It doesn't even get to the BIOS. I checked the BIOS prior to installation, and confirmed that the priority order had PCI first.  I have tried another XFX card in the machine, too, with the exact same result, so I don't think I have a bad card. Any thoughts on something I'm missing?

Hey guys, I recently bought an old HP OEM computer (a 'dc7700', I think) off eBay. It's one of those towers that is placed horizontally, and it's quite thin. I was planning on using it as an HTPC but it lags when trying to watch HD movies, so I think I'm going to buy some really low-end graphics card.

I was looking at this one (I'm in Australia and it's either eBay or local IT shops):

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-ATi..._Components&hash=item19c5f77a3f#ht_1134wt_936

I'm wondering, will this fit in the tower? Do I need to specifically look for a low-profile graphics card? Thanks in advance.

The tower has the exact same specs that it comes with, motherboard is the same (Violet, I think its nicknamed) etc. wanna know if this will fit it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L5GZOOK#Ask

A:Will this graphics card fit my Pavilion p6247 c-b? The tower...

There are three concerns that I have about the card: 1) it states that it will work with only 300W.  I have found these claims have not been correct.  2) the card is extremely long.  There may not be enough space for it without some problems. You can measure from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case. and 3) newer cards after the GT 640 series require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  Your computer was released on September 24, 2009. My advice is to choose a manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for your computer and needs.  I like EVGA (1-888-881-3842).  Their Tech Support is very helpful and knowledgeable. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi all,
I recently bought a Vostro 3668 i7 7700 that came with a R9 360 card. From a little search on the web I saw that the TDP for this card is 85W, so I thought that it wouldn't hurt If I buy a 1050 Ti with 75W TDP  (/w stock speeds no extra power cables) to replace it.
Is there anything that I should be aware off? Any BIOS settings? Does it matter that I replace a single slot card with a dual slot card?
I am currently looking at these 2:
ASUS Phoenix GTX 1050 Ti
EVGA GTX 1050 Ti GAMING
Thank you for your help

A:Vostro 3668 new graphics card

Unless your applications require nVidia support, this is going to be a lateral move, not an upgrade.  Those two GPUs are pretty evenly matched in terms of performance.
Yes, it may matter in terms of size - many smaller cases like the one you have won't take a dual-slot card.

Hello,
I have a Vostro 460 and I wanted to upgrade the graphics card. I just bought a Gygabye with nVidia GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 card assuming it was going to work fine on this PC. Wrong assumption. It simply does not boot. It displays the initial POST but it doesn't go past it.
This video card is PCI-e 2.0. I tried to check prior to the purchase the PCI-e version of the Vostro's motherboard and with big effort I found in one the posts of this forum that it's 2.0 (it doesn't say anywhere, motherboard or manuals). Also, the minimum hardware requirements are met: minimum 300W power supply: the stock PSU is 350W. Cool!  But no so cool, it's not working.
The BIOS's firmware is up-to-date. I can't figure out what's the problem as the card is compatible with the motherboard. It should have worked first hand. And I don't think the power is a problem.
Any ideas?Thank you

A:Vostro 460 graphics card upgrade

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 420
ATI® Radeon® HD 5450
ATI® Radeon® HD 5670
pci-e cards are tested by Dell and are compatible. GT730 is not tested so cant really comment on the same.
Hope the info helps.

A:What graphics card should I for my Dell Vostro 200

Hi Jchoiboi17,Thanks for posting.Another user posted this information:If you are just playing CS:GO you can pretty much get any card that fits your budget, a Radeon 260x or a 750ti will work just fine with games on good settings. You could get a 960 if you are playing a range of games too however if its just CS:GO then either the 260x or 750ti is a great choice.Another user posted:  EVGA GeForce 8400 GS Hope this helps
