Preferred Solution: What audio software can I use to simply record *what I hear* from the computer? Record what comes through the speakers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to record whatever I hear thru my speakers. I have Windows Media Player, RealOne, and MusicMatch. From what I can tell, all of them need an upgrade to record whatever I hear on my speakers.

I wonder what it would take to record (using e.g. Audacity) the sound leaving my sound card? Lets say I listen to a newscast and want to keep the entire thing or snippets of it for reference - what would I need to do that?

Windows (7) reports under the Sound/Recording tab (right-click speaker icon in notification area): 'no audio devices are installed'.

Audacity says when I press 'record': 'Error while opening sound device.'

hello friends

I lwas knocked into the street in Buenos Aires by a car, complete with backpack and laptop, and as a result I had to have a new hard drive installed (I think the two events were related)...

But ever since the installation, I have been unable to record music with the audio software, GoldWave, which always worked before with the old drive...

Something is missing somewhere, I'm sure... But could someone give me hints that go beyond just "re-install audio drivers", because I've tried that....

Hello Techspot,

I have just built a new PC using the GA-P55-UD3P motherboard, I have tried almost everything to get my Microphone working correctly, I have been over many threads and possible solutions through various websites, nothing seems to work!

Problem: My mic is plugged into the rear pink socket, If I leave the "Rear Pink" option muted I have no microphone sound whatsoever, yet if I unmute the "Rear Pink" option the sound going into my microphone comes directly out of my speakers rather than being recorded/used correctly on communication/recording software..
note: the windows/realtek audio options all have "microphone" greyed out.. the only way to control my microphones mute/volume/boost is through the "pink rear" option!

I hope this makes sense.

It shouldn't make any difference but im using the default software which was included with the motherboard!

Thankyou for your time,
Paul

Hi All,

Last year I had a problem with a high definition audio device, posted here. HD Audio Device not working

Now I have the same issue again, but this time I cannot record what I hear and there is no Stereo MIx in Recording Devices.

I have tried rolling back the driver, and un-installing it, but no luck . It comes back with that yellow triangle on it every time.

I can hear my audio fine. But cannot record anything.

I have tried the Realtek drivers, made no difference. Looked at everything I could find on the web, but no solution worked.

I have even restored my system, but that little device, stubbornly remains yellow. I assume this is why I can't record.

I actually have 2 HD audio devices in my Device manager, one is yellow, the other fine.

Short of taking my system back to factory settings, which I'm not prepared to do, does anyone have any solutions I can try?

Cheers

Rob

Did you try to delete the driver completely and then reboot. You may get a generic driver, but that may work.

I've been searching for a few hours now and I am failing to find anything to help solve this problem.

I have just got a new headset that I wanted to use for gaming and other things. I have tested it and it works fine on my girlfriends laptop.

When I plug it into my computer I can hear myself though the computer speakers but if I try to record or use the microphone in conjunction with any other application it does not work.

I have reinstalled the correct drivers for my motherboard onboard sound and ensured that my default imput was set to microphone in sound settings. When using the test hardware feature in sound settings it acts as though there is no microphone at all.

-when recording I get nothing but white noise
- The mic works I can hear myself though speakers and on other computers
- correct drivers are installed.

If anyone can help, please do.

Thanks

I have what I think is an unusual problem:

I have a realteck soundcard built into the motherboard.

I bought the BOSE companion 5 sound system, which is a USB sound system that does not use a sound card.

I want to record various thinks that I can hear, whether it be from Winamp streaming audio, a streaming video file from IHOP that appears in a popup window, etc.

No software that I can find will do this absent taking the sound that goes through the sound card. Usually works, except if you have a USB sound system.

I have tried to enable the soundcard though "sound and audio devices properties" which allows me to hears sound from the OTHER pair of speakers I plugged into the sound card jacks. But no software I have downloaded/bought etc will recognize the soundcard and/or detect any noticeable sound levels. including Roxio Media Center 10.1 that I just bought.

Is there ANY software that will take the sound BEVORE it goes to the sound card, i.e. however XP sends it to the USB port, that I can use to record?

Or, is the only solution to scrap the BOSE (love the sound and hate to lose it ) and get an internal sound card and different speakers?

Hi All;

I know that this is partially addressed in other threads, but I've not found a solution to my specific problem.

I have a Dell T3400 with Creative SB X-Fi Model SB0770.
SB077x.pdf
Everything works fine in XP on the same dual-boot box. It is a new Vista-ready system and I was able to use the supplied Creative CD to install the Creative software. after installing from the CD Win7 offered to go to the 'net and update the Creative drivers, and I let it. Sound works great, all the Creative applications appear to work OK, except for recording from what-u-hear. I can see the required devices in both Windows Sound Control panel and in Audacity ? 1.3.9 (Unicode). The device is enabled, and everything looks OK. No newer drivers for the SB0770 are listed on the soundblaster site, and Win7 thinks the drivers are the newest available. Here are some screenshots:

The Creative Recorder also sees no input (Following taken while plenty of sound coming out of speakers):

Audacity reports this:
Device ID: 1
Device name: MME: "What U Hear" (Creative SB X-Fi
Input channels: 2

Device ID: 6
Device name: Windows DirectSound: "What U Hear" (Creative SB X-Fi)
Input channels: 2

This is really driving me nuts! I'm not going to resort to looping the analog out back in.

Help! Save Me! Please...

A:Audacity will not record what-u-hear SB X-Fi

I do a lot of support on the Dell users forum. Have you tried the Windows 7 Beta drivers on the Creative (SoundBlaster) downloads for the Xfi? Other users on the Dell users forum have found they work better with Win 7. I'm not sure about the "What You Hear" though and that is primarily what you are after.

One other item, if you doubleclick on the What you hear icon in the Sound/Recording Panel, another panel will come up with Options. There is a "Levels" panel and make sure the levels are set at 100 and that the speaker is not muted (there will be a red dot if it's muted). On the Advanced Tab make sure it's set for "Default". I don't have a SoundBlaster, I have an HT Omega Striker 7.1 sound card that has the "System Mixer" (the same thing as "What You Hear" - Soundblaster's name for the system mixer).

Hello. I was wondering how I can transfer the audio from the TV/VCR to my computer. I want the audio to be crisp and clear, so using a standard computer microphone would not work.

There must be some kind of wire to connect from the TV to the computer in order to get the audio to have the same quality as it does on the VHS.

Someone told me to use a Y Cable. So I bought one on ebay and connected the black piece to the Line In part in the back of my computer and I connected the red and white to the TV. Nothing ever recorded even when I switched the recording to Line In.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I replace my old sound card, which had a Stereo Mix channel and level control on its mixer, with a Sound Blaster Audigy FX card. The new mixer has only two channels of recording: Mic and Line In. Both work. I've updated the drivers, but can't find one that adds Stereo Mix.

I then installed Realtek drivers and the Stereo Mix option appeared when I right-clicked on the speaker icon at the lower right corner and selected Recording Devices. (I right-clicked on the white area of the list of recording devices and checked the boxes Show Disconnected and Show Diabled Devices; no Stereo Mix.) However, the controller was still the one by Sound Blaster, and it was essentially disabled by the Realtek drivers.

Any ideas for getting the Stereo Mix function? My old card had it and was working with W8.1 Pro, so I can't say that a W8 driver is bad. I can't sort out if it's a missing piece of hardware on the Blaster card, or it's a software issue. One post somewhere said Stereo Mix was intentionally omitted or made hard to implement due to copyright issues (not recording audio from youtube.com, for example. In buying a new sound card, how can I tell if it will have Stereo Mix?

My recording software is Cool Edit Pro, 2.1.

A:Stereo Mix (Record what I hear) is missing

First, SoundBlaster calls the Stereo Mix function, "What You Hear". Does that show up any place?

Installing the RealTek drivers apparently activated your on-board (on the motherboard) audio. Since Windows will only allow one default playback device, and because of potential conflicts its good to disable the on-board audio in the BIOS.

Back to the SoundBlasters, there were some early model Audigy sound cards that do not support for What You Hear. I had an Audigy SE sound card in an old PC. In Windows XP it had the "What You Hear". When I upgraded to Vista and got the new Vista drivers from SoundBlaster, I no longer had the What You Hear. Vista/Win7/Win8 handle some sound functions differently than XP (and earlier OS) and apparently is the reason on the older Audigy cards.

Bottom line, if you want Stereo Mix, remove the SoundBlaster and use the on-board RealTek. Unless you have a specific reason for the SoundBlaster I wouldn't use it. I have a recording studio (using Sonar X3) with some high end recording equipment and studio monitor speakers, but for PC audio, the RealTek in my PC serves me well. I've had SoundBlasters and other brands of add on sound cards and I don't hear any difference between the RealTek and $100 add on sound cards.

Hiya

The free, open-source Audacity is a very popular sound recording and editing program. It can record your speakers and mic input.

You can use it to record the sound and your voice, and put it together with the video. If it cannot record both simultaneously, record only the speakers, put it with the video and add some narration in your own voice.

Hi everyone,

I've been researching and pulling my hair out, and starting to think what I'm after is somehow not possible to achieve.

My goal is to be able to record my screen, my speakers, and my mic (narration), while also being able to playback ONLY my speakers to my headphones.

Basically, I wish to monitor ONLY the speaker audio, WITHOUT my mic (narration).

I thought I could achieve this by using Realtek HD Audio Manager, which allows you to playback two different audio streams simultaneously. However, it would seem that only certain Windows applications which are written to give you the option of changing the playback device can take advantage of this feature. The particular Windows application which I am recording does not give me that option.

So essentially I am wondering if there is a way to force an application to output to a particular playback device, ie. the Realtek HD Audio 2nd Output. The Realtek HD Audio 2nd Output would play to my headphones (application audio ONLY) while at the same time I would be able to record my screen, my speakers, and my mic all together at once.

I did find this post which broke my heart as it seems this might not be possible due to Windows only providing a single mixer, but wanted to try asking around here too -> Different audio output for certain programs [Solved] - Multimedia - Apps General Discussion

I would like to know if my Dell Desktop Inspiron 530 running Vista Home Premium is able to record the sound played by a video or web cam when using screen recording software. So far, I have not been able to figure this out and have tried Fraps, BSR, ScreenRecorder Gold and CamStudio. Is it possible that this model of Dell does not have the ability to record the sound other than from a microphone? Strange, it plays videos and SkyPe with no problem.

A:How do I record sound from my computer system from a screen recording software

For a lot of sound such as you want or "streaming audio" from the internet it requires that the sound system have the "System Mixer" capability (SoundBlaster calls this "what you hear").  Unfortunately, many Vista and Win 7 sound modules - all PC's not just Dell - do not have this capability.    You do have the "line in" (for stereo) and Mic (for mono) recording capability.
To check to see if your system has the System Mixer, click on Start then Control Panel, then Hardware and Sound and finally Sound.  In the Sound panel click on the Recording Tab and if the System Mixer is listed set it as the default playback device.  If the System Mixer is not listed, RIGHT click in a blank area in the Recording Panel and then click the option to show disabled devices.  If the System Mixer was one of the disabled devices it will be displayed and you will be able to set it as default.   If the System Mixer is not one of the disabled devices you do not have this capability.
You can look around for a non-Dell sound driver for your sound, e.g. RealTek if you have the standard integrated (on the motherboard) audio system.  However, from past posts on this forum it's iffy if you get a non-Dell sound driver to work.   Your other option is to install a PCI sound card that does have the System Mixer/What You Hear capability and is Windows 7 compatible.&nbs... I want to use the GoToRecord command to go to a specific record in a form. The problem is this uses an offset or record number. How can i find the record number of a specific record?

What i plan to do is use some code similar to this:

docmd.GoToRecord acDataForm, "FrmComputer", acGoTo, expression

where the expression is the record number of the record 'Computer01' for example.

Hi:

I've created a form in Access-2013 and placed record navigation buttons (using the button wizard) in the footer to allow the user to scroll through the records. They are the usual buttons and function as you would expect:

<< | < | > | >>[/FONT]

Problem is that when a user is on the last record in the table and clicks the ''right" button (in red above), the form displays a blank record. This is normal behavior for Access (as far as I know) and as long as a user enters NO DATA in ANY field, Access does not write the record to the table.

Given that users may be less than astute , I would like to eliminate the possibility of them creating a "blank" record in the table.

Is there anyway to stop this default behavior in Access?

Thanks
RonK

I have a form which has a subform called SearchMainSub with displays data from the following:

Me![SearchMainSub].Form.RecordSource = MyRecordSource
'
'If no records match criteria, display message and move
'focus to Clear button
'
If Me![SearchMainSub].Form.RecordsetClone.RecordCount = 0 Then
'MsgBox "No Maintenace Records Found", 48, "No Records Found"
Me!Clear.SetFocus
Else
'
'Enable control in detail section

The problem that I am having is that it only displays the first record. I have tired all of the options in the data field for RecordSet Type. It still only displays the first record. Anyone have any ideas? I hope this one is as easy as the other question I asked.

Hello All,
I have this database I built for all my music CDs. It is searchable by artist, date recorded, venue, city , state, notes and track title. The search works fine but I have one issue. I use a subform for all the track titles and it displays the correct songs for the CD. However, I get a record for each song. So if one CD has 16 songs I get 16 records for that CD. In my sample dB I have 7 CDs but it shows 117 records because that is the sum of all the songs on those 7 CDs. I want it to show only the 7 CD records and not a record for each song and still be searchable. I can make it show the way I want but then I can't search by song title. I attached my condensed database version to look at in case my description seems a bit convoluted. Thanks.

I have Realtek HD Audio Sound Manager on Windows XP. I want to record mic and speakers at the same time (I have an USB camera integrated into the laptop).

Is there a way to enable "Mic Volume" and "Stereo Mix" in Realtek (or in somewhere else - perhaps in Windows Movie Maker ...)?

Where should I configure it and which video video-capturing software should use to record it?

Guetan Tag, Hola, Hello...

I was just wondering if there was a way to record exactly what comes out of your speakers. I don't have a sound card so I can't record from that. Is there a (free) program to do that or if there is something in XP to do that?

Please Help Thanks

Kia Ora!

I found that a standard cord with a standard 3.5 headphone jack on each end can be connected to the audio output and straight back into the audio input (microphone input etc.) Then any number of recording programs including MS sound recorder are tricked into thinking they are recording from a microphone. Sound quality depends on the program you are using. I find Audacity (Free!!!) gives a good result.

try http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Good luck!

Sam.

ASP using an access db. I have create a recordset that will return a single record and I'm trying to retrieve that record. When I try to get the record it won't retrieve that value. This is only happening when it is one record in the recordset. The recordset is not at BOF or EOF. Do anyone have any solutions or other alternatives. Need help ASAP, I have been working on this for several days. Below is the code:

Set rsHotFix2 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
rsHotFix2.ActiveConnection = MM_AMT_DTS_STRING
rsHotFix2.Source = "SELECT Max([CID]) AS LastCID, SID FROM TCO_Contractors Group By LastCID, SID HAVING (TCO_Contractors.SID= "&rsHirerachy__MMColParam&")"
rsHotFix2.CursorType = 0
rsHotFix2.CursorLocation = 2
rsHotFix2.LockType = 1
rsHotFix2.Open()

if rsHotFix2.bof and rsHotFix2.eof then

response.write "Recordset Is Empty"
else
response.write "Recordset Is Not Empty"
response.write rsHotFix2.Fields(0) & "<BR>"
response.write rsHotFix2.Fields("LastCID") & "<BR>"
response.write rsHotFix2.Fields.Item("LastCID") & "<BR>"
response.write rsHotFix2("LastCID") & "<BR>"
end if
This is what's display on the page
Recordset Is Not Empty

Notice it does display the CID value.
