I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 10. I have just purchased a Dell U2515H monitor which I am waiting for delivery for as we speak. I believe the monitor has quiet a few inputs however I am not 100% sure which lead to get to connect them both and which port I use on the Dell Laptop. Looking on the left hand side of my laptop there is a port with a lightning sign next to it, is that called Thunderbolt? and is that my monitor/display port? and what lead do I need? it looks like some sort of micro socket!

If the other inverter/LCD is known to be compatible with the system and produces the same result, bad power circuit to the inverter - replace the mainboard.

My old dell laptop L502x is a bit quirky and caused me to buy a desktop, however, i think it is still saveable. when i have it display to an external monitor via hdmi, it works 100% with no problems. however, when i use the monitor that is physically attached to the laptop, i will get a " A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor" BSOD. from what i've gathered over numerous crashes, i believe its a problem with the integrated graphics in the processor, since they are not used when outputting via hdmi. i could be wrong tho, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, all, I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop and recently bought a Asus MB169B external USB monitor.  When I plug the monitor in, the laptop monitor (not the external monitor) flickers about every half second.  If I unplug it, it stops.  I upgraded my video driver to no avail.
Is it simply a power supply issue (the external monitor  does not have a power cord)?  Anything I can do?  It does it even if I have the laptop plugged in and charging.
*something interesting - I just discovered if I duplicate the display and not extend the flickering goes away...but that kind of defeats the point of a dual monitor for me.
Thanks.

A:dell xps 15 monitor flickering after connecting external usb monitor

Hi NATURAL1DAVE,
What is the exact system model?
Have you connected the external monitor to a dock or hub or directly to the system USB port?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download the BIOS, update and restart the machine and check.
Reinstall the video drivers and chipset drivers for the system from the above link and check.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

I bought a 720 (-15IKB) a couple of months and have been very pleased with it.  I'd like to be able to use an external monitor.  I really don't want or need a docking station, not playing video games, I just need a little extra screen real estate to have, say, one document open while I work on another. I happen to have an old Dell VGA monitor sitting around so I picked up USB-C to VGA cable but nothing on the monitor's screen and the computer doesn't seem to recognize a monitor is connected.  Can anyone please give me some suggestions on how to make this work. Thanks!

You might also need to enable an external display in Settings > System > Display.  But to my knowledge, Lenovo USB-C ports aren't Thunderbolt, so some things that work well on an Apple won't on anything else.

I just bought myself a very nice 22inch Dell E2209WF monitor. I connected it with a VGA cable to my USB3 connector and nothing. So I went down to PC World and tried the same with several monitors and nothing. So I tried a micro HDMI to several monitors and still nothing. I'm running Windows 10. Am I missing something very basic ? I've always assumed the Yoga 2 11 could be connected to an external monitor.

A:Connecting a Yoga 2 11 to an external monitor

Hi, welcome.

It shouldn't be hard to connect an external monitor to a laptop. What kind of port does it has? mini DP? HDMI?

What I had see on other cases is that some cables and adapters may produce some problems. So trying different ones that you may have arround, or connecting the laptop to a near by TV just to be sure it is not also the monitor.

My only ideas are:
1) Try Win+P key combination to be sure that you ar extending or duplicating the screen with the secondary monitor.

2) From the Yoga 2 11 support site, try update the video driver and see if something improves.

Give it a try to see if something works.

I am thinking of getting the Yoga 3, and occasionaly I would like to use an external monitor. My question is, can I put the yoga in kind of a shallow tent mode, and still use the keyboard? I'm guessing the keyboard and trackpad are disabled when you flip the thing into tablet mode, but what about in tent? SO, from the closed position, I am hoping to open it about 200 degrees or so, or anything slightly greater than having it lay flat at 180 degrees. Will this work? Thanks!

No, when your are over 180°, the KB and pad are disabled. But you can buy bluetooth KB and mouse.. What you want to do is weird, what's the point of plug an other screen if you do not see the first one ? TV ?

In a strange twist Lenovo decided not to include a dedicated display port with the 720 13". The USB-C Thunderbolt port can be used as a displayport, but then, obviously, can't be used as a thunderbolt 3 port.I have a $800 dollar thunderbolt 3 card. What I'd like to do is get video out of my laptop to a bigger monitor so I can do work.I tried a USB-3 docking station and it was a nightmare. Is there any way I can use an external docking port to access the displayport in my laptop AND connect my thunderbolt 3 soundcard?I erroneously assumed that all this new technology would enable me to use multiple displays like on my old desktop computer, but what I'm finding is the USB3 solution introduced tons of lag, when it worked at all, and slowed down my computer. If anyone has any solutions, please let me know.

Yoga 730-13IKB, Type 81CT, Windows 10, 64-bit Before I purchase an expensive external monitor, like HP's Z27 4K monitor, I'd like to find documentation on the Yoga series support for external monitors, and the potential for the laptop to also be charging, all from that single cable.  Most likely, the arrangement would be using a single USB port to a hub that provides HDMI or DP -- can the Yoga deliver 4K (or lesser QHD), at 60Hz? After about 20 minutes of searching and reading user manuals, 620 integrated graphics reference material, and whether HDR is supported and whether HDCP 2.2 is provided.... sigh. I'm looking for a document written for an end user that accounts for the inherent capabilities of the integrated graphics chipset and OS, the limitations of the USB 3.0 Type-C interface, and describes what range of resolutions can be driven.  If the UBS hub makes a difference, then at least tackle part of that problem with a paragraph of "what to look for" in a USB hub, or "we've tested with the following," in order to successfully drive (and possibly receive laptop charging) from high resolution external monitors.  Use the HP Z27 4K monitor as an example.

I have a suspicion it has to do with the video scaling setting on the SyncMaster. If you go to Picture > Advanced Settings > Picture Settings, look for Size. Change it to Screen Fit. There may also be a button on your remote to change the Video Mode / Aspect Ratio or something similar.

Hello, I used a Belkin USB-C to HDMI (4K/60Hz) adapter in series with an HDMI to VGA adapter to extend my workspace.  I used an old monitor that came with a Dell Desktop ages ago.  Early this afternoon, things worked perfectly.  With the laptop and the monitor on, I plugged in the adapter and initially the combination came up "duplicate."  I opened the F10 menu and selected "extend" and worked non-stop for about 2 hours.   I had old documents open on the laptop display while I authored new documents on the extended display. Before the 910, laptops I used had HDMI ports to which I plugged in the HDMI VGA adapter and I never thought much about how the combinations worked (as they never failed). After dinner, I prepped the system to show recorded video on the external monitor for an online class I'm taking so I could use the laptop display to search for information, images, etc when recorded lessons are vague/incomplete.  Then I went back to parenting. When I came down after putting the kids to bed, the laptop had gone to sleep. When I woke the device, the external monitor reported "no signal detected" and the display on the laptop kept flickering.  This is a new experience for me. Unplugging the USB C adapter stopped the flashing.  I don't know how to return the system to whatever was working before the sleep cycle.   So I started searching for others' wisdom and experience.  I read o... Hi,

I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 to replace an older Lenovo Thinkpad. I use two laptops with the same peripherals, so I run an external monitor (Dell Ultrasharp 29" monitor), a keyboard, and a mouse into a Display Link Docking Station. I then use a IOGear switch to toggle between the two laptops. The new Lenovo Yoga laptop picks up the keyboard and mouse, but does not identify the external monitor. Below are details on the new laptop.

? 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6500U Processor (2.50GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
? Windows 10 Home 64
? Intel® HD Graphics 520 (graphics card)
My other laptop is an HP ProBook running Windows 7 Professional. All of the peripherals work fine using the docking station and switch (as did the old Lenovo Thinkpad). The only exception is that in my previous configuration, the monitor would periodically not connect with the new laptop when I used the switch, and I would need to restart in order for the monitor to work with the latpop I had selected on the switch. The mouse and keyboard did not have this problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hello - I wish to connect my 24" Dell monitor (it has every port imaginable) to my Lenovo Yoga 720 WITHOUT using the Thunderbolt port. Is this possible? I am a Jazz musician and I with to use the external display for (1) reading complicatedf [e.g., classical piano] sheet music and (2) for use with DAWs (digital audio workstations, such as Abelton, Pro Tools, etc., where there is LOTS of info crammed in tight and a large monitor is needed). My Yoga's TB port is used for a 500 gig Samsung external hard drive.  The Samsung houses my music programs (e.g., the DAWs, Ivory piano, Easy Drummer, etc.), and I placed them there for the fast speed (this really helps eliminate the latency on the pianos).  I don't need fast speed with the monitor; my prior Lenovo G780 worked just fine with my 24" Dell monitor; the G780 had an HDMI port. I don't find a "TB dock" that has (1) HDMI, display port, etc. AND (2) another TB port.  Does such a thing exist? I've tried the crappy "USB montitors."  They (1) suck and (2) are not 24". Am I screwed here? Thanks, - Jeff Newton (Jazz saxophonist and pianist)

Every two minutes or so, the monitor says 'no signal' for a second and then the image returns, sometimes after thin white lines flash across the screen. Additionally, using the laptop speakers when connected to a TV/Monitor is fine, but nothing can be heard when trying to use the speakers of the HDMI connected device. I have tried flashing the BIOS, updating with the latest graphics card drivers on Lenovo's website, using a new CableCreations adapter, switching HDMI cables, switching TVs, un- and plugged into the AC adapter. Nothing changes. I have also used a USBc->HDMI->VGA adapter/cable, and the flashing lines disappear but the the external display continues to cut-out periodically. I would appreciate any ideas about why this problem would surface now, and/or how to resolve it.

Connecting the sleeping X1 to a dock (Lenovo Thunderbold 3 dock) and then waking it up (lid closed) gives bad colorors and contrast on the external monitor connected to the dock. Restarting the X1 connected to the dock gives normal colors and contrast on the same external monitor. System is W10Pro 1709 64-bit.Any ideas or help?
