Firefox not loading

Q: Firefox not loading

Everytime I try running fire fox, it just shows the hourglass and doesn't load. So I go to add or remove programs and when I click remove, it does the same thing. I tried removing something else and it worked. Then I tried system restore and that didn't work. So could someone help me?

Preferred Solution: Firefox not loading

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Firefox not loading

Is it an addon that's causing it to happen?
try this:
start menu->run-> type in "firefox -p" (without quotes)
click "create new profile" enter a name, choose default location, and start using that profile by double-clicking it. see if it loads.

My firefox inexplicably stopped working properly recently. There are certain webpages that fail to load whatsoever (espn.com, for instance), and there are other webpages that load extremely slowly (somethingawful.com, for instance). Both of these websites work fine on IE.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but that didn't cure the situation. I have Symantec antivirus and it is always running. I don't usually download any sort of file that should put my computer in jeopardy, but I cannot figure out why it's running so poorly recently.

I hope I'm attaching all of the correct files:

Oh, also, file attachments don't work in Firefox or IE.

I am having a major issue here. 50% of the time when I attempt to open IE or Firefox the process will show as loaded in task manager but program will not load resulting in me having to open taskmgr and ending the process only to try to launch it again. When the browsers do load the majority of the time when I attempt to visit a url via a search from google or yahoo I get redirected to some random website. This has been going on for about a week now and is quite frustrating. Having tried to fix the problem for countless hours I have decided to turn to the professionals here. Listed below are the DDS and ATTACH logs.

Also, I do use Daemon tools as well as bittorrent but for the purpose of this I have uninstalled both. I am also running Win7 64-bit so I was unable to run GMER. Thanks in advance.

I have been running firefox for some time now and it has been working perfectly.

Yesterday i tried to access it and the programe would not load up. It shows up in the windows task manager under processes, but not under the applications. If i then try to run internet explorer this programme also hangs up untill i clear the firefox from the process scedule.

I have tried uninstalling it, deleting it etc. that doesn't work. the strange thing is if i use another user account (windows xp pro) it works fine. Any ideas?

A:firefox is not loading up

When uninstalling Firefox, you will need to delete your Profile folder. It's a hidden file. This file is not removed when you uninstall Firefox. It will retain all of your previous settings, and re-apply them to your new install.Set windows to show hidden files,How to see hidden files in Windows then navigate to:C:\ Documents and Settings \ "your user name" \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ ProfilesDelete this folder (or send it to the Recycle Bin as a backup), and then try reinstalling Firefox.

Suddenly, about two weeks ago Firefox 10 stopped loading web pages. The "connecting" circle keeps spinning and absolutely nothing happens. I love Firefox and have to say that this is one of the most bizarre computing frustrations I've ever experienced. I have Thunderbird email and may have found a temporary way around it: I right click on "Reload tab" on the website tab I'm trying to access. I have to do it several times for it to connect to the site. I uninstalled FF 10 and reinstalled 9 to see if the problem persisted: it does.
I actually had to use Internet Explorer (!) a few times to be able to access the various websites, and I downloaded Chrome as a temporary stop-gap measure in case FF doesn't work at all. Although I don't want to use any browser but Firefox, this malfunctioning is getting me down a lot; I might be going to Chrome permanently. What can be causing this vexing problem of web pages not loading? [I have Windows 7 Profession 32 bit SP1] Thanks for your ideas. ec

I am having an annoying and frequent problem with firefox loading websites using smartphone layout. Roughly 30% of the time it will load a page with full screen width images and text that spans the entire screen.
Reloading will sometimes bring it back to normal browser window display, other times it takes several reloads to get it right.
It's not limited to any particular pages, a page will load perfectly fine once, then the next time it loads up wrong.

I've played with user agents, updated, reloaded, reinstalled firefox and the problem persists, any ideas?

A:Firefox loading like a smartphone

I'd reset the FF User Agent to default and delete the cache, if it still happens even after a force-refresh, look for a Desktop link, there's often one at the bottom of the page.

If it persists and you're sure your User Agent is at default and you're sure aren't blocking correct browser capabilities detection with an extension, report it to the site owners.

My hoimepage is set to Google. When I open the browser, it looks like Google is loading, then in the top tab, it looks like it loads again. This happens on some other Web sites, also. I re-set Firefox, but the problem continues. I do not have any add-ons or extensions in Firefox. I also tried setting the homepage to Yahoo, but this never seems to stop loading - the loading page wheel just keeps spinning. I have Windows 7 - 64 bit for the OS and have MSE, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyWare and Spyware Blaster installed which I run every day (except Blaster which doesn't have a scanning feature). They don't find any issues, except SuperAntiSpyware which finds anywhere from 30 to 90 "threats" when I run it. What's the problem? Any "easy" fix?

A:Pages loading twice with Firefox

Reset Firefox to factory defaults.

Scan the entire computer with Malwarebytes in Safe Mode (after you updated the program)

A:FireFox not loading pages...

Not alot of info on this problem was given to better determine the problem.

But Firefox is not really a "Mission Critical program" have you tried just re-installing it yet?

Its possible a program setting is preventing it from accessing web pages or a bad addon.

I looked and couldn't find any on going or previous threads about my specific problem so if there is please excuse me.
I am running WinXp Pro with Firefox 37, it has ran fine without problems really until now. Started Firefox and before it even opened I get a crash report that gives me the option to restart it or quit. No matter how many times I try to restart, even in safe mode it does the same thing, crashes before opening. So, I uninstalled it and removed all traces of it in my Reg and did a search for any remaining bits and deleted them. Even download Revo and it shows no signs of Firefox/Mozilla anywhere. Still had the origal install file so I reinstalled, did the same thing. Download a new version, did the same thing. So then I downloaded Opera and I'm using Internet Exploder 8 all this time which won't connect to certain sites I reckon because it's no longer supported. But, anyway I download Opera for win xp several times with the same result, it wouldn't load/install. And yes I turned off my Norton antivirus to install. So All I have is IE 8 and it's as worthless as you know what. Anyone have any ideas?
Oh! and I did a virus scan and a Malwarebytes scan with no results. Something doesn't want me online.

A:Firefox crashes before loading

Hi there,

It could be that Windows XP is no longer supported but try this, download/install "Google Chrome" and see if the same issue happens.

By any chance, do you have another computer at your place running Windows XP? If so, install Mozilla Firefox on that computer and if assuming everything works fine on that computer, then the issue relies on that specific computer you're using.

Greetings!
(Not sure if I am posting in the correct section)

Since two days ago, I've been having some trouble loading two specific websites (www.kotaku.com and social.bioware.com), being Firefox stuck on loading endlessly. Like suggested around the net, I tried other browsers and the result was the same, loading ceaselessly. Again, I followed another tip which said to turn-off the IPV6 of Firefox, which did work and allowed me to access Kotaku.com but now, I am back to step-one.

Ironically, if I use Anonymouse, both pages load-up perfectly. What can I do solve this annoying issue?

Thanks.

Hi,
About a week or two ago, some computer security company called me on the phone and offered a service to clean up my computer. They told me to go to their site and take a look at the packages they offer...and I did...which was a mistake on my part.

Anyways, a day later, my computer started to take a very long time to load websites (from ff and ie). It would work fine at boot up, and maybe after 30mins to a couple hours, the problem (websites not loading/connection cannot be established) would show up.

I made a scan and couldn't detect anything, so I decided to format the comp (moved my documents into a separate hdd) and formatted. After formatting, I installed Kaspersky. Recently, I plugged in the hdd that had my documents. Kaspersky didn't detect anything, but now my browsers are taking forever to load/not loading websites.

Could that company have uploaded something onto my computer? Could the virus be in the documents I copied over (non system files)? The other computers in my house have no problems loading onto webpages.

Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

A:Firefox not loading - possible infection?

Is the issue that Firefox will not open or that it cannot load any webpages once open? If it won't load webpages please let me know whether IE works or if you're posting from another PC.

If it won't open at all try restarting your computer before beginning these steps. Firefox has an issue with starting up after it has been closed improperly. This can be fixed by manually killing the process or by restarting your PC.

I have used Firefox for a long time and upgraded to 1.5 on the version release. All has run well until yesterday when it started behaving strangely after I caused a system crash by pulling the power out at the wrong time (I know, I know). Since then FF has started in less than full screensize , using large icons and showing all additional toolbars. I can easily return it to my prefered settings (full screen, small icons, navigation and bookmark toolbars only) but its a pain. I run it using the Outlook 2003 theme.

Anyone know how I can make it retain my preferred settings?

A:Firefox Loading Problems

Sounds like you may have corrupted your profile folder.Try a complete uninstall of Firefox, followed by a reinstall. To completely uninstall Firefox, you will need to delete your Profile folder. This file is not removed when you uninstall Firefox from Add/Remove. It will retain all of your previous settings, and re-apply them to your new install, if it's not deleted. That's why, when you install a new version of Firefox, your previous settings, bookmarks, passwords, etc., all remain the same. For a Fresh (start from scratch) install, this folder has to be removed.Uninstall your current version from Add/Remove programs.Set windows to show hidden files,How to see hidden files in Windows Then navigate to:C:\ Documents and Settings \ "your user name" \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ ProfilesDelete this folder (or send it to the Recycle Bin as a backup). Then navigate to:C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox, and delete that folder. Then reinstall Firefox. You might want to make a copy of Bookmark.html while your in there. It's located here:C:\ Documents and Settings \ user name \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ default.7dp \ Bookmark.htmlThat way you can replace the new one created, with all of your current bookmarks.

Hello. This is my first time posting. Anyway my problem with mozilla is that it does not load websites after some time of using the computer, and the time ranges from 10 minutes to 1 hour. It doesnt exactly not load the page. What happens is that for some websites it jus shows a blank screen and at the bottom there is the word Done shown there. For other websites like www.onemanga.com/Naruto/472/01/ it loads everything except the .jpg file, and it shows a Loading ... media at where a loaded .jpg file should be at. Basically I cannot surf anything at all.

The weird thing is that this situation causes all web browsers to have the same problem. I have tried with Google Chrome and IE 7. Both seems to have the same problem too.

Any idea how I can solve this? Thanks in advance.

A:IE and firefox not loading certain web pages

Hey
Go to Tools menu, select Internet Options..., and click the
Security tab.
In Restricted Site check and see if the URL that you can't get to are
in there.
If so, remove them and try again...

First and foremost, a BIG thank you to anyone who helps me, as I know this is a freee service and there are people out there charging good money for this exact same thing! So, yesterday while on the internet (IE) I suddenly noticed that the pages stopped loading and instead were acting as if my connection had given out. This was not the case as my connecton was fine, and I eventually found that Firefox began doing the same thing after a few hours. I realized it wasn't the Firewall either since it did the same when that was disabled. This is when I became a little suspicious and ran MBAM, which couldn't update because of some error that had to do with "user not allowing to connect to internet" or something like that. That was when I realized that it's a likely virus. I still ran MBAM however and even Avast, but neither found anything. Also, I am running Windows XP and this is a desktop computer (I'm posting from a laptop now).

Having installed an app and restarted my PC I was met with a message saying that Firefox was around ready running and to close it down. I checked Task manager and it wasn't so I restarted my PC but got the same message again. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled but still I got the same message. I have now noticed that Thunderbird will not load either so now I am stuck. I tried the system restore point but that didnt help and now I do not know what to do. How can I reinstall FF again?

A:Firefox/Thunderbird not loading

If I understand correctly, FF & tbird was working fine before installing an app; what was the app?
Knowing what app is clashing with FF & Tbird may point to a solution faster.
And, there is no recent restorable full-image of your OS partition, correct?

sometimes when a page is loading feels like it gets stuck for a half a second while scrolling, and that doesnt seem to happen on an XP machine i have. Am i the only one with that problem? it does not happen all the time but i def notice it.

A:firefox loading scrolling

If you have a slow internet connection, it can feel like that because while you're scrolling the page is putting new images into the screen which make the total size of the page larger, therefore even though you're scrolling down you end up going up instead of down.

Think about it this way:

Firefox sees your position as absolute.
I.E. If you're 3000 pixels down the page, even if the page gets longer you'll stay 3000 pixels down.
That means that if the page goes from 6000 pixels to 9000 pixels you'll end up going from 1/2 down the page to 1/3 down the page. When scrolling it happens in much smaller increments.

I've looked over threads about this same problem over and over but the solutions I've tried haven't worked.

Basically, my firefox will open and load stuff, but after sometimes an hour, sometimes barely ten minutes, it gives up and it will just sit there and load....and load...and load....and never get anywhere, it also doesn't close fully. Once I close it, it stays on the running programs and I have to Ctrl+alt+delete to close it and all that.

Also, the solutionms I tried:

-Uninstalling/Reintsalling
-Running in safe mode (it STILL won't load in safe mode)
-getting rid of a known problem-causer: the FB add-on
-Rebooting

I've also run numerous virus scans and on the first round I found many, then redid it and found another, but now when i scan I get nothing so I don't think it's a virus now.

Help???

Hello all - this is my first post on your website. I hope you can help with my problem.I have searched the web extensively for a solution to this problem and although there is a lot of advice that appears to works for some e.g. clearing cache, temp files, cookies and deleting latest versions of media players no solution works for my PC.The problem is simple - certain webpages will simply not load up. In IE (all versions) the page will load up blank with the legend 'Done' in the bottoom right of the frame. In FF the progress bar at the bottom left of frame never completes. It is not a problem with the websites as access from other PC's is not a problem. Most websites load up without a problem and I am now at a complete loss as to what has happened. On all 3 computers, she can log in to the website and see her stuff, but she can only view, send and receive messages on 1 of the computers, even though the settings for firefox and IE are the same on all three computers. her boss told her it has something to do with scripts, but I don't see how. Can someone help out?

Well, maybe a bit more info would help. Do these "scripts" use anything like Java (javascript)? If so maybe check all computers have Java installed.

Sometimes firefox will occassionally load basically the txt, and some pictures of sites. For example when I get into the fantasy football section of espn it does it, and some other sites. It doesn't always do it. I also know its not just the site because I have had other people go to these sites at the same time and it worked fine for them. Like now I am trying to access Ralph Lauren website and it doesnt fully load.

I am running the latest version of Firefox and I cannot access 1up.com. Every other website works, but this it just says its loading for an unlimited time. It has been this way for about 8 months now, and I have no clue why it does this in Firefox. The website works in IE and AOL, so I do not know why it is not coming up.

I just type in the address, hit go, and wait....and wait, and nothing happens, just the loading bar that doesn't advance. Thanks for your time.

Recently i have been having problems loading images in firefox. On a site like break.com, timekiller etc where there are many jpgs on one page, it will load some of them but then just become idle and not load anymore.

I have recently been playing with bandwidth settings for utorrent but this is happening when utorrent is closed so am unsure if that has anything to do with it.

Internet explorer works fine too, this only happens in Firefox. I have reinstalled but its still doing it.

Any ideas please?

A:Loading Images In Firefox

Try starting Firefox in "Firefox safe mode" - Start/Programs/Firefox (safe mode)

That will set everything to default and disable extensions.

You can then figure out which element is causing the problem.

It does sound like something is leeching bandwidth.

I usually visit a site (www.bridge9.com) which should be working fine, which is was up until about 3 months or so ago when it finally decided to give me an error saying "this page cannot be found" so i thought, it must be firefox, i go into Internet Explorer, same thing happens.

I dont understand why it worked then all of a sudden says it cant be found. No, the sites not down ANY other computer can connect to it except mine and the other one lanned.

I wasnt sure if it should be in this sub forum if its not i apologize!

Hi,Your system is severly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show. Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution. So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused. In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts. Please uninstall the way outdated version of AVG you are having. Then reboot. The same applies for AVG Antispyware; so uninstall that one as well. After reboot, download the latest version of AVG from here: http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-editionThis version has the AVG Antispyware already included.Let it perform a full scan and let it quarantine everything it is finding. Then reboot once again. After reboot, rescan wi... Brotherhood77,

It sound like you have content or keyword filtering enabled in Norton 360 that's blocking access to certain websites based on keywords. Go into Norton 360 and turn off content blocking and/or parental controls. See if this helps.

Hello,I've recently turned my computer on to find that my Firefox web browser was not loading for some reason. I decided to use my back-up web browser, IE-7 but that also failed to load resulting in a crash. I have a funny feeling it's some sort of Virus/Malware as its very unusual for both browsers to fail, however, after strolling through numerous websites looking for answers I found nothing. I have tried starting firefox in Safe-Mode yet that seems to have worked. I have scanned my computer with AVG 8.0 Internet Security and it hasn't picked up anything, and numerous pieces of software including Hitman Pro 3.5 and Trojan Remover, which also picked up zero. Subsequently, I accidently ran ComboFix twice without realising what I was doing and I think one log overwrote the other!I am currently at a stage where I am unsure what to do. I believe I might have to use Hijackthis but I would need some assistance. Many thanks in advanceRegardsSimon

I downloaded Firefox last night as I've heard great things about it, particularly after my battle with Begin2Search. However, it's not loading pages- at least not with any workable speed. I'm able to get into my yahoo mail okay, but any other pages I've tried to reach with it- including this one- take so excruciatingly long to load that I end up using IE anyway. I have SBC DSL and I think it's something in my computer that tends for pages to load slowly anyway (sometimes have to hit refresh multiple times) but IE will at least load the pages after a few refreshes. Firefox doesn't seem to respond at all.

Is there any way to fix this or do I just concede and reset IE as my primary browser? :-/ Also if anyone has any ideas about the slow page loading in general I'd be very happy- it's quite annoying (although downloads work great, so I don't think it's a bandwidth issue..we do have a router if that makes any difference).

Thanks!

A:Firefox 1.0.1 not loading pages

The router should makes thinks run faster, does it have the modem built in or as a seperate external device. I would check all the connection settings for firefox, it is posssible if this is not set correcct speeds can be affected.

Can you try a ping on your router. You would need its local IP address though. You should be able to get this from its web interface. When you have the IP go "START" and "Run" type "cmd" then "ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX". If you get a really high time then you know there is a problem with you connection to the router

What kind of router is it, how is it linked to the pc's
